Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.
This will introduce the new hero. I actually won't name them in this chapter, but from the description I'll give of them in this chapter, you should be able to guess who it is.
Let's get to it.
Guest: You'll see in this chapter. However, I will confirm that one of Natasha's family in the Black Widow movie will at least be mentioned in this chapter.
AWESOME1356: Yes, the final story of Phase 2 will feature Kang as the villain.
Guest: Yes, I'll try to make a chapter of a story where we see all the heroes gathered for Christmas.
warlocktongue: I may show them worrying about something going wrong.
mmat: Not sure if he will in this story, but we definitely haven't seen the last of William. Either his present day self or his future self.
Aragorn II Elessar: Not so sure that Oliver is the better fighter. I think they're relatively evenly matched.
Chapter 2- A New Player
Oliver smiles as he sends another arrow throw a tennis ball, pinning it to the wall behind it. He's been taking some time today to do some more archery training, as he hasn't done much the last week.
He smiles as he shoots another arrow at a tennis ball. This reminds of the days he'd spend back in the bunker in Star City, doing this same thing. He remembers how that was one of the first things he did in his first lair when he first came back to Star City. However, as much as he loved being in Star City, and liked being a vigilante in the city, being on Earth-99 and being an Avenger feels more fulfilling than almost anything he did back in Star City.
It's been three days since he and Natasha got engaged. Needless to say, the last thee days have been very happy days. They hadn't done much wedding planning, but had decided to have their wedding in the next summer, and they had decided to have Barry and Wanda as their Best Man and Maid of Honor.
Right then, Natasha walks in. Oliver looks over at her, and smiles as he sees she's wearing a red dress. They had planned to go out for a dinner date in Los Angeles that night.
"You do realize how late it is?" she says.
"What do you mean?" Oliver asks.
"It's already 6:30. Didn't you say you wanted to leave by now?" Natasha asks.
Oliver looks surprised, then looks down at his watch, then back up at her, startled. "You're right. I'm sorry, I lost track of time. I'll get ready," he says as he sets down his bow and quiver and runs for the door.
As he runs past Natasha, she laughs and says, "You better hurry, or I'll beat your a** in training tomorrow."
Oliver hurries back to his bathroom and quickly showers before he gets dressed in nice pants and a collared shirt. He then hurries to the garage.
Natasha is waiting for him in the garage next to one of the cars they have there for their own personal transport in the local area, smiling at him. "Took you long enough," she says.
"Hey, I just showered and got dressed in record time. That has to account for something," Oliver says.
Natasha smiles as she walks up to him, pulling him in for a kiss. After a second, she pulls back and smiles at him. "Maybe. If you give me a really nice date tonight, maybe I'll forgive you," she says with an amused smirk. She then smiles more genuinely and says, "Alright. Let's go."
Oliver and Natasha climb into one of the cars and drive off, heading towards Los Angeles. They talk and occasionally Natasha sings along to the radio. Oliver had discovered Natasha's love of music and her talent for singing early in their relationship. Since then, he had gotten her to be more open about it, but still, she only sang around Oliver.
They get to the restaurant around 7:20. They park in a parking garage next to the restaurant, then wlak into the restaurant. Thankfully, their reservation is still on the books, and the hostess leads them back to their seats. As they make their way through the restaurant, a number of men and women look at them in surprise and gesture towards them and whisper.
The hostess seats them, and their waitress comes to take their order before leaving them alone.
Oliver smiles at Natasha. "You are perfect. Have I ever told you that?" he asks.
"Several times, although I still say that I'm far from it," Natasha says.
"Why do you keep insisting on that?" Oliver asks, although he knows why.
Natasha sighs. "I've still got so much red in my ledger. So much I could never hope to wipe it out," she says.
"And you think I don't?" Oliver asks. He then smiles before saying, "That's why I think we fit so well together. We both have red in our ledgers. We've both done terrible things. We both have dark, traumatic pasts that we constantly struggle to overcome."
Natasha smiles sadly. "You're right. Really, I don't think I deserve you. But, I guess neither of us really deserve the other," she says.
"That's why we belong together," Oliver says with a smile.
They're quiet for a moment longer, then Oliver says, "You know, some day soon, I want to take you back to Earth-1 to see my son, William. Now that we're getting married, you ought to get to know him. You might have met his future self when we fought Thanos, but I think now that you'll be his stepmother, you guys should get to know each other."
Natasha smiles, but a little sadly at the same time. "I'd like that, especially as I probably won't be able to be more than a stepmother," she says.
Oliver looks at her sadly. "I know, Nat. I know how hard it is to still deal with. But, it'll all be fine. You can be William's stepmother, and you're still Stephen's godmother," he says. However, internally, he's thinking, I need to have a chat with Heywood. Maybe they can do something about this.
"I know. It's just still hard to deal with at times," Natasha says.
Oliver reaches out and takes her hand. "We can deal with anything together, Natasha," he says. She smiles appreciatively at Oliver.
Their food soon arrives, and the two have a good time together, enjoying dinner and just being together. When their dinner is done, they leave their waitress a very handsome tip before they head out of the restaurant to return to their car.
As they make their towards the entrance to the parking garage, Oliver smiles and says, "You know, Scott mentioned to me the other day that he and Hope were hoping to do a double date with us sometime."
Natasha smiles. "Well. That would be a very interesting night out," she says with a smile, causing both her and Oliver to laugh.
As they walk towards the entrance, they pass a man, and Oliver accidently bumps into him. "Oh, my apologies. Didn't see you there," Oliver says politely.
"You'll wish you hadn't," the man says. He then whips around, a knife in one hand and a pistol in the other. He looks at them fiercely and says, "Watches, wallets, phones. Now!"
Natasha and Oliver share a glance, then look back at the guy attempting to mug them, internally wondering what kind of drugs this man has to be on to be trying to mug two Avengers.
"Really?" Natasha asks.
"Yeah, and if you don't want to catch a bullet, I'd recommend…" the man says.
All of a sudden, there's the sound of something whistling, and something slices across the man's wrist of the hand that's holding the gun, forcing him to drop the gun. As the object clatters to the ground, they see that it's a razor sharp metal crescent.
Then, all of a sudden, a white figure leaps down from the roof of the building on their other side, punching the man in the head and knocking him down. "Bad idea," he says, in a distinctive masculine voice. The man then whips out a bo staff, and quickly dispatches the mugger with several quick blows.
The man then whips around, raising a grappling gun. As he does, they get their first good luck at him. A white suit and cape. A utility belt carrying gear and weapons. A white hood that's pointed right over his eyes, and a white mask that completely conceals his face, with glowing white patches over his eyes. And a silver crescent right on his chest.
The man then fires the grappling gun, and flies up out of sight, disappearing onto the rooftop. Oliver and Natasha stare after him for a moment before looking at each other. "What the h*** was that?" Natasha finally asks.
"I have no idea," Oliver responds.
And, I'll end there.
So, we have been introduced to our newest hero in the MACU. I will not name him until the next chapter, but I think a fair few fans will be able to recognize who he is based on the description I gave of his uniform.
I hope you also liked the dialogue between Oliver and Natasha in the restaurant. While the story will focus heavily on them meeting and getting familiar with this new hero, I'll do a portions of chapters that focus more on their relationship.
Next chapter will be up soon. Until then, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
