Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.
Let's get to it.
Ki11er18001: I may actually do a story somewhat like that some day, but probably one in which the Arrowverse and MCU take place on the same Earth.
ihatetigerstar: I'm not sure how long, but it won't be terribly wrong.
Chapter 9- Alliance
Oliver pulls the car into the parking garage of the Compound near Los Angeles. He and Natasha had stayed the night in their hotel room in San Diego before coming back up to the Compound that morning.
After Oliver parks the car, he and Natasha climb out. They head into the Compound.
Almost immediately after entering the Compound, they run into Rhodey. He smiles as he sees them and asks, "Hey, guys. How was your day in San Diego?"
"Pretty good. We had a lot of fun," Oliver says, keeping from mentioning Moon Knight.
"Awesome. Well, Wally made breakfast this morning. There's still some left if you guys are hungry," he says.
"We ate at the hotel we stayed at in San Diego, so we're good," Natasha says.
"Alright. I gotta go. I'm meeting with Tony about something in a little bit," Rhodey says.
"Alright. See you later, Rhodey," Oliver says. Rhodey nods and walks past them into the garage.
Once Rhodey is gone, Oliver and Natasha turn to look at each other. "Well, how do we start?" Oliver asks.
Natasha smiles a bit. "Why don't we head to the intel room? I think there's somebody who may be able to help us," she says.
"Alright," Oliver says, wondering who Natasha could be referring to.
The two of them make their way to the intel room, where the team does all their intelligence work for their missions. Natasha makes her way over to a computer that is the one they usually use for video calls. She sits down and begins searching through the database of their contacts. Soon finding what she's looking for, she places the call.
Natasha and Oliver stand there for a minute, waiting as the call tries to go through. Then, finally, the call is answered, and the face of Nick Fury comes onto the screen.
"Romanoff. Queen," he says in greeting.
"Fury," Natasha says.
"I understand that you two are engaged," he says.
Natasha smiles and holds up the ring so that Fury can see it. Right at that moment, Maria Hill comes into view. She immediately sees the ring and smiles. "Congratulations, Natasha. Oh, the ring looks beautiful," she says.
"Thanks," Natasha says with a smile.
"It was my mother's," Oliver says.
Fury nods once. "I wish you both the best. But Queen, you must understand I will hold you responsible if you do anything to hurt Romanoff. And trust me, when I get pissed off, you don't want to know what I'm capable of," he says.
"Yeah, the death threat. Sorry, Fury, but in the alternate universe in which I would ever hurt Natasha, you would be in a line to kill me," Oliver says.
"Alright. We can talk about mine and Oliver's upcoming wedding later. For now, I have something I need your help with," Natasha says.
"What is it, Romanoff?" Fury asks.
"Me and Oliver have been looking for somebody. A vigilante. He calls himself Moon Knight. We finally found him in San Diego yesterday, but also ran into another warrior who calls himself Shadow Knight. To put a long story short, they're brothers who hate each other, and Shadow Knight can't stand the idea of his brother being as good as him and wants to kill him. Moon Knight himself is a nice enough guy, and we want to help him, but he escaped from us, and says he doesn't want any help. Well, we're gonna help anyway, but we need help finding him," Natasha says.
"So, you want me to help you find him?" Fury asks.
"Not quite. I want you to help us draw him out. According to pattern I've noticed, he'll probably be heading up to Northern California, probably around San Francisco. I want to see if you can have some of your men to San Francisco to stage a crime that will draw Moon Knight's attention. I think that would be faster than trying to hunt him down," Natasha says.
Fury is quiet for a moment, thinking. Then, he nods once and says, "Alright. I'll send a few guys to San Francisco. Meet them there in 48 hours. Consider it a wedding present."
"Thank you, Nick," Natasha says. She then smiles and says, "We'll make sure to send you an invite when we have the wedding."
For the first time on the call, Fury cracks a small smile. "We'll be waiting for it," he says before cutting off the call.
Natasha looks at Oliver and grins confidently. "I think this is gonna work. What do you think?" she asks.
Oliver grins just as confidently. "You bet," he says before kissing Natasha.
(60 hours later, San Francisco)
Natasha settles into a more comfortable position atop the building, carefully watching the street. She and Oliver had met up with Fury's men. They had worked together with a local bank to stage a large scale bank robbery. The robbery had been carried out with actual cash to make sure it was believable, with the promise that the money would be returned at the end of it all. The bank had agreed, given that the promise came from two of the Avengers.
Fury's men were now holed up in a warehouse on the edge of San Francisco. Local police were also looking for them. The officers working on the case were not aware of the nature of the "robbery", but the Chief of Police was. He had agreed to cover the truth of it from his officers for the time being.
"Any sign of him, honey?" Oliver asks over their earpiece. He's on the roof of a building on the other side of the street.
"You know I'm not the biggest fan of affectionate names like that," Natasha says.
"Really? You don't like 'honey'? 'Sweetie'? 'My love'?" Oliver asks teasingly.
"Oliver!" she says, making Oliver laugh.
"If you must, just use 'babe' and be done with it," Natasha says in exasperation.
Oliver laughs before he says, "Sorry. You know I love to annoy you on occasion."
"Of course," Natasha says with her own laugh.
Natasha pauses for a moment, then is about to say something else, but is cut off by Oliver says, "Eyes up. I think that's him."
Natasha swivels her head around. Then, she spots a figure leaping across the roofs of the block of warehouses, coming towards the one where Fury's men are holed up. As the figure gets closer, his features get more noticeable.
"Yup. That's him," Natasha says.
Natasha watches as Moon Knight leaps onto the roof of the target warehouse, then slides off the roof and onto the ground. He moves silently over to a door leading into the warehouse, waits for a few moments, then opens the door and darts inside.
"Let's move," Natasha says. Right then, she hears the twang, and sees Oliver swinging over on a grappling hook arrow. She then jumps off the roof, firing a grappling cable off to slow her descent.
They land beside the warehouse just a few meters away from each other. Without a word, they quickly make their way over to the door, then look at each other and nod once before moving into the warehouse.
Almost as soon as they enter the warehouse, the sounds of combat hit their ears. They dart further into the warehouse, and see Moon Knight engaging the three men sent by Fury. The agents are trying to just keep out of Moon Knight's reach, waiting for their backup they know is coming.
Oliver, to draw Moon Knight's attention, fires an arrow that flies right between Moon Knight and the agent he's trying to attack. Moon Knight freezes, then slowly turns towards them.
The agents back up a bit as Natasha and Oliver stare down Moon Knight. After several moments, Moon Knight says, "You certainly are persistent. I'll give you that."
"Well, you cut off our last conversation before I was done, and that's kind of rude, so I wanted to finish it," Natasha says.
"You can't seem to take a hint. My brother is my responsibility. Mine and mine alone," Moon Knight says.
"And you can't seem to take a hint either, Marc Spector," Oliver says.
Moon Knight is quiet for a moment before he says, "You told your fiancée my name, did you, Black Widow?"
"I think you can call me Natasha since I know your first name. And of course I did. He's my fiancée," Natasha responds.
Oliver steps closer to Moon Knight. "We're not taking no for an answer, Spector. Your brother has killed people and is trying to destroy you. I've spent years hunting down people just like him to ensure thyey received justice for their crimes. Like it or not, we're gonna help you find him and bring him down. And if you try and keep us from helping….well, we can go a round and I'll convince you after I've beaten you," he says.
Moon Knight is silent for a moment before sighing and saying, "Alright, Queen. Trying to say no to your fiancée is hard enough it seems. I doubt I'll have more success saying no to both of you. I have one condition. We do this my way."
Oliver smiles a bit. "Fair enough," he says, extending his hand, which Moon Knight takes a moment later.
And, I'll end there.
Hope you liked Fury's brief appearance in this. Now, I have a question for you all. When it comes time for Oliver and Natasha's wedding, who do you think of these three walking her down the aisle: Clint, Fury, or Red Guardian (yes, I will be introducing him soon)? I'm still not sure about Clint, since I'm considering having him as a groomsman. But, let me know what you all think.
So, next chapter will be up soon. Until then, leave a review, and stay tuned.
