I apologise for the late chapter, I was on more courses over the last week and didn't have much spare time to write up this chapter fully. At the weekend the course I was on meant that I had no internet and wasn't allowed to have my laptop to finish writing the chapter. Again I do not own either Halo or Stargate SG-1. They are owned by 343 industries & Microsoft and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Chapter 7 – A new beginning

What became known as the Keyes accords was signed by all the world leaders on August 14 1997. Within a few days of that the UNSC Army and Air force personnel that were rescued from Reach were sent down to Earth to help with the implementation of technology and the renovation of the world. One of the biggest changes was Detroit. The day of the signing the city was a desolate city with buildings ready to collapse at any moment. A few days later, the city was swarming with engineers and construction workers turning the old car factories into plants for the mass manufacturing of UNSC and civilian vehicles. However this would take months of work to complete the rebuilding process and begin to produce vehicles from the factories. The new planet-side shipyards were being built and when completed four of the drydocks would house the births for four new warships. The ships built would be two new Stalwart Class Frigates, One new Charon Class Frigate and a new Halberd Class Destroyer. The remaining six births would be producing three Egret Class spaceliners, one Mariner Class transport ship and one Phoenix Class Colony Ship.

Another change was the old industrial region in the North of England where the old car factories were revamped into gunsmiths and ordinance factories. Across the world, old factories were renovated to produce the necessary materials for the uplifting of the human race and the equipping of the burgeoning UNSC. The West point Military academy was given a new lease on life as the UNSC Naval Officer's Academy, the Kremlin was turned into the UNSC Army Officer's Academy, RAF College Cranwell transferred into the UNSC Air Force Officer School for training.

All the Army, Navy and Air Force and Marine Corps training centres were put on hold long enough for the relevant equipment and trained staff to be brought in the first people to be trained to the UNSC regulations were those already serving in the relevant branches and especially the instructors. All of Earth's special forces units were sent to the newly renamed UNSC Lympstone in England to begin retrain as ODSTs. The regiment number for each ODST unit was given to the unit when they arrived. As the SAS and SBS arrived first and second respectively, they were numbered 1st and 2nd ODST regiments.

The SGC had to also send their teams over to Lympstone as well to receive the same training as well as training in UNSC policies about how to deal with situations requiring a diplomatic touch. Because of the necessity for SG teams at the moment, the training the SG teams were given was shortened and turned into a crash course for personnel, turning a month-long course into a two-week course. The down side of this however, was that the teams would have to do a lot of weapon maintenance alongside the ODSTs that were stationed at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. This was done in groups so that the SGC was able to operate at least five of their teams and allow for integration of new equipment and operating procedures. The first batch of SG teams that were sent to receive the new training and equipment were SG teams 1-7. This included Colonel O'Neill, Captain Carter, Dr Jackson, Teal'c, Major Ferretti, Colonel Makepeace among others. The remaining SG teams were to continue with normal operations.

(1830 hours/ August 17th 1997/ SG teams Albatross/ Location UNSC Lympstone, Devon, Former United Kingdom)

The Albatross carrying the SG teams from the SGC base known as Centurion base to Camp Lympstone arrived at its destination. As the SG teams began to unload with their gear, they saw two soldiers in UNSC uniform. One stood by a sign reading 'Officers' while the other stood by a sign reading 'enlisted'. Colonel O'Neill went up to the soldier stood by the 'Officers' sign.

"Where should Daniel and Teal'c go as they are not Military?" he asked. Apparently, the soldier had the answer.

"Seeing as they are a SG-1 and the only military personnel on that team are officers, they will be quartered across from yourself and Captain Carter, Sir." The Soldier answered.

The officers, Daniel and Teal'c were each given separate rooms while the enlisted men were quartered into their respective SG teams. Everyone was told that the trainers would be arriving later tonight and their schedule would be given to them at dinner.

At 1900 hours, everyone went to get some dinner. The meal that night was a Moa Caesar Salad, Moa Nuggets, Sweet Potato Fries, Pineapple Fried Rice or Lobster loaded baked Potato along with Peas, Sweetcorn, Carrot and other vegetables At 2200 hours it was lights out.

(0600 hours/ August 18th 1997/ SG team training day 1/ Location UNSC Lympstone, Devon, Former United Kingdom)

At 0600 the SG teams were just beginning to wake up when the sounds of angry footsteps shook the buildings waking everyone up instantly.

"GET YOUR LAZY BACKSIDES ONTO THE DRILL SQUARE IN PT GEAR! NOW!" Came the bellow that scared the living daylights out of everyone in the barrack blocks. In under ten minutes all the SG teams were in their newly issued PT gear on the Drill square. What they saw less than a minute later possibly frightened them just as much as any army of Jaffa or Goa'uld could.

What they saw was four fully armoured ODSTs walking out of the armoury. If there was anyone who was still even a little sleepy, the certainly weren't now.

"We are your combat and PT instructors for the time period that you will be stationed here. You will also be learning military strategy and tactics from another instructor which you will meet after breakfast and see again two hours before dinner. Any time that you are not eating, sleeping or learning from this instructor you will either be running combat drills, weapon tests or doing PT. Am I understood?" One of the ODSTs, who's name plate read Mitchell, asked.

Everyone barked out "Yes Sergeant." After an hour of exhausting PT everyone was sent to breakfast for which they had 40 minutes to eat, ten minutes to wash and change into their working uniforms and five minutes to make their way over to the assigned classroom for their first lesson. During their meals in the garrison's mess hall, the team were ordered to sit with only their team members for breakfast and lunch while they could sit with any of the other SG trainees at dinner. Once everyone had arrived within the given timescale, they began to wait for their new instructor.

Right as the lesson was due to start the holoprojector came to life and displayed the figure of a Roman Orator. This scared most of the SG teams bar SG-1 who were more amazed at the technology than scared of what was happening. "I am UNSC AI OVS 0391-6. You may refer to me as Octavius during your studies. Now we shall begin with what is being implemented for hot insertion and extraction procedures." The AI started. The class progress quickly after the initial shock. After two hours fifteen minutes of lessons. They had PT. The ODSTs ran the group ragged with near continuous PT. The only break they had was a five-minute break at 1100 hours. 1200 to 1300 hours was their lunch break. After that they had another twenty minutes of PT. At 1300 they were told to report to the firing range in BDUs. The BDUs that they had been given were the same as that of the UNSC Marine Corps (Halo 3 variant). Everyone was split down into four groups. the first group with Gunnery Sgt Mitchell teaching his group of seven the basics of the MA5B ICWS and BR55, Sgt Anahera Waaka trained another seven on the M6G2 PDWS, Sgt Thora Damgaard trained others on the SRS99-S5 Sniper Rifle and Sgt Nestoras Cosmakos trained the remainder on the M90 CAWS.

At 1500 they were ordered back into working uniform to attend another lesson. This lesson was on possible first contact protocols and how to deal with possible archaeological finds. At 1700 they were given their dinner.

"God, I have never felt so drained since bootcamp." Carter said tiredly.

"Well at least we now know how some of the weapons we will be issued work and how the UNSC wants us to operate in some areas." Daniel replied just as tired.

"These new weapons will give us a decided advantage over the Goa'uld." Teal'c said neutrally.

"Yeah, these new guns pack a lot more power than the MP5s. Also, the body armour we have is a lot better than walking into a firefight with just a tactical vest on for armour. Though they feel a bit bulky at the moment." Jack said relieved.

After dinner they were ordered back into lessons where they four more hours of classroom work. They were then given from 2100 till 2200 to clean their weapons and armour as well as do maintenance on the rest of their equipment such as their uniform (not including armour) till it was lights out at 2200.

The week dragged by in a similar way until Saturday where they were put on exercise for the day to see if what was learnt during the week had stuck. Part of this was firing the new weapons. On the Wednesday they were ordered back to the firing range. From there they were ordered to go to the weapon's rack and pick out the weapon(s) they would most likely be using for operations. They were then instructed to begin firing down range at their leisure. The more experienced officers and NCOs had only a little trouble firing the larger 7.62mm ammunition compared to the 5.56mm or the 9mm pistol ammunition they were used to. those with less experience e.g. Jackson and Teal'c found it much harder to control their new MA5Cs or BR55s. Everyone were also taught how to operate the M41B SSR Medium Anti-Vehicle/Assault Weapon, W/AV M6/V G/G Nonlinear Rifle, M9 anti-personnel grenade, H-165 forward observer module and various types of combat knives.

(0800 hours/ August 28th 1997/ SG teams training day 12/ Location Dartmoor, Devon, Former United Kingdom)

The SG teams were ordered to simulate a Stargate exit onto another planet without contacts and explore. They were to use the protocol and procedures they were taught in class, dependant on what they experience during the exercise. They were equipped with a variety of weapons from the MA5C and BR55 to the M6G2 and M90 as well as carrying at least one training grenade. The teams were told to take no longer than three hours for their final exercise.

SG-1 'exited' the 'stargate' and began to scout the area for any possible civilisation or enemy activity on the 'planet' in two small teams. They had no contact with any indigenous lifeforms. However roughly ten minutes into their scouting mission Colonel O'Neill and Teal'c (SG-1 Alpha) spotted a small patrol of Marines who were posing as the Jaffa in the exercise. Jack carried an MA5C and M6G2, Sam carried a BR55 and M6G2, Teal'c was equipped with his staff weapon and an M6G2 but had an MA5C attached to their remote-controlled kit transport in case it was needed, and Daniel reluctantly carried an M90 with an M6G2. Each of them were equipped with two of the M9T training grenades. Also attached to their kit transport was a single M41B rocket launcher with four rockets.

"SG-1 Alpha to SG-1 Bravo, I have sighted a small patrol of Jaffa regroup in the clearing East South East of the 'stargate'. Copy, over?" Jack reported into his radio.

"SG-1 Bravo to SG-1 Alpha, Copy Clear. Moving to designated location, ETA five mikes over." Came Carter's voice over the radio.

"Copy, Over, Out." Jack said ending the radio transmission.

Five minutes later the entirety of SG-1 was in the clearing. "Carter, get in touch with the 'SGC and request support to deal with a Goa'uld force and relay their response. Teal'c stay here with Carter and when she is finished the both of you will head to our location using your HUDs to follow our IFF tags. Daniel, you and I will be following the trail and finding a vantage point to observe their camp from. We need to know numbers so they can be relayed to Command." Jack said splitting his forces again.

"Yes Colonel." was the reply before the two groups headed off to complete their respective tasks.

Jack and Daniel managed to find the 'Jaffa base' and a vantage point to estimate their numbers and any strategic value of an attack or whether to withdraw and report back to the 'SGC' and leave the planet as listed as occupied by the Jaffa.

Jack and Teal'c observed roughly 20 - 30 'Jaffa' in the camp as well as some historical artifacts that would need to be examined to see if they were useful in any way.

"SG-1 Alpha to SG-1 Bravo, enemy counted at roughly 20 to 30 enemy combatants with not non-combatants. Historical artifacts present and possibly need examining. Suggest we call in backup and take the camp. Over." Jack said into the radio.

Sam's voice came crackling down the radio. "Copy SG-1 Alpha, Command has said that there is no support that can be sent in at such short notice. Over." She spoke.

"Roger that, rendezvous with us in the clearing in ten mikes. Over" Jack ordered.

"Copy Alpha. en route to rendezvous. Over, Out." Carter replied.

Ten minutes later, SG-1 had regrouped and prepared to assault the Jaffa base. "We will need to split up into two groups again and attack the from two sides. This will allow us to deal out the most amount of damage without being overwhelmed by the enemy. We will be deployed in the hills to the East and West of the Jaffa base to give us the best concealment during our approach. We have ten minutes before we begin our assault. Let's move out." Jack said finishing the briefing.

"Yes Colonel." Was the response from the rest of the team. Another ten minutes later the two teams were in position. At exactly 10:45, the two teams began their assault on the 'Jaffa base'. The 'Jaffa' didn't know what was going on until the first five or so were told by their HUD that they were hit and 'killed' and pulled a red cord on their shoulder telling everyone that they had been 'killed'. After the another five were 'Killed' before the marines began to react and fire back.

"O'Neill, I believe they know where we are." Teal'c shouted as nine of the remaining marines began to try and climb the hill they were on.

"Certainly seems that way. SG-1 Bravo, fire on the element climb my hill, we will fire on the nearest element to you. Over" Jack replied and then ordered.

"Copy Alpha, switching target. Daniel will have to target the element climbing my hill, so have Teal'c fire on the element on yours." Sam shouted back.

the remaining troops were very quickly being cut down by the cross fire from both hills. About 15 minutes in the remaining 'Jaffa' began to break just as a team of six ODSTs ran into the small valley acting as serpent guard.

"New contacts, coming in from the North. The Jaffa are rallying to them. Take out those guards to demoralise them." Jack ordered across the battlenet.

"Copy Alpha, engaging new contacts." Carter replied quickly as she switched targets to the ODSTs.

The ODSTs didn't split into two groups, however, they gathered the remaining marines and charged up the hill towards Carter and Jackson. This meant that the entirety of SG-1 could engage. Jackson's M90 ripped holes into the remaining troops and 'killed' four of the ODSTs. With Teal'c and Jack tearing more holes into the marines while Sam 'killed' the remaining ODSTs, the last few marines broke and ran just like the Jaffa would have done. SG-1 made their way down the slopes of the hills into the 'Jaffa' base.

"Daniel, find the most important of the artifacts. Those will be the ones we take as we don't have much time. Remember to look for explosives, we don't want the mountain blown up." Jack said.

"I know Jack. I was in the same lessons as you." Daniel replied.

After selecting six items to return with, the group made the 15-minute trek back to the 'stargate'.

"Daniel, dial home. Carter, Teal'c, defensive positions. we know there are still Jaffa out there so be ready in case they attack."

"Yes Sir." The three responded before going to their positions. Less than a minute later the 'Stargate' was open, Daniel had sent through their IDC transmission and they were ready to leave.

"Alright kids, ready to go home?" Jack asked.

"Yes Sir." They all replied.

With that they stepped through the 'Stargate' and the 'mission' was over.

It was 2300 hours when all the simulations finished and they were told that they had all passed and after their small graduation parade in two days' time, they would be sent back to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex to operate as UNSC SG teams.

(0900 hours/ August30th 1997/ SG teams training day 14/ Location UNSC Lympstone, Devon, Former United Kingdom)

Today was the day that SG teams 1 through 7 would complete their passing out parade. Family members and friends of each of the participants were invited to watch the parade. Jack and Teal'c unfortunately didn't have anyone in terms of friends and family. Sam's Father Jacob and Brother Mark with his wife and two children. Daniel had his former mentor Dr David Jordan and friend Dr Sarah Gardner.

The day before the parade Sgt Mitchell went to Daniel and Teal'c and issued them each a UNSC Navy No.1 uniform. He cryptically explained they would find out why they were given these during the parade. During the parade, everyone got a shock when the two of them were officially made to be part of the UNSC Navy as Lieutenant Junior grade. After the awards and enlistment of the SGC personnel respectively. There was one final march past the podium and then everyone separated off to meet with their families. The ceremony ended at 1030 hours exactly. Jack and Teal'c stood together as the odd ones out with nobody around for them. Sam went and met up with her Father and Brother. Somehow they had managed not to argue with each other throughout the time they were in the same vicinity of each other and were beginning to try and talk to each other again. Daniel went an met up with his old mentor and his friend.

The day ended and everyone went off to spend some time with their families. The next day The albatross was back at the base ready to take them back to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex and the SGC while the rest of the SG teams would be making their way here later that day to begin their two weeks in hell.

-Meanwhile-

During this time a contingent of ODSTs from across the fleet, as well as Spartan Sword Team were sent to be support should things go horribly wrong for one of the teams, to the SGC to fill in the spaces left by the teams absent on training at Camp Lympstone. The ODSTs were primarily sent on reconnaissance missions to observe and collect information on Goa'uld strongholds and outposts. They tried to not engage in any way with the locals or enemy forces if they had the option of doing so. One of the ODST units that was sent to operate with the SGC till they were at full operational capability was Alpha Nine.

(2000 Hours/ August 16th 1997/ UNSC Cruiser Lyonesse/ Location Commander 117's Office)

John was sat at his new desk. He now had more than enough paperwork to go through to last him for just that week. At the moment John was working through the team leader mission reports from Petty Officer 1st Class Kelly 087 and Chief Warrant Officer Jorge 052. He had just been reviewing them in case there was something in their reports that was missed in the other reports, though he highly doubted that Fred or Carter would have missed something. John still had to go through the reports from Omega team about their progress with the recovery of the second Stargate and the 'DHD'. John had also been going through the reports from Red, Blue, Green, Sword, Gauntlet and Onyx teams about their engagements on Reach before the fleet left.

John had had a few visits from Halsey since being given his commission. The first of these visits was to congratulate him on his new commission and check on how he was coping with the new stresses of being commander of Spartan Operations and being only out ranked by Captain Dare and the newly promoted Admiral Keyes. The other visit was to speak to John about getting the Spartans some time down on Earth to get some more training in just to be on the safe side. Most of that training would be Stargate travel to ensure they were ready and knew what to expect in regards to travelling through the Stargate. John had thought that such training would be useful and was going to put a request up to Admiral Keyes for Spartan teams to be dispatched down to the SGC to be given experience with the Stargate.

John was just finishing reading Kelly's report when Kelly herself walked into the room.

"Kelly, what can I help you with?" John asked her as she sauntered in.

"Well, I was wondering when you would spend some time with the rest of Blue Team and the Spartans as you seem to be couped up in this office all day. You need to get out and relax a bit." Kelly told John in no uncertain terms.

"Kelly, as much as I would like to get out of this office and back on missions with the rest of the you, I need to get this work done. Hell, I don't even have anyone to help lessen the workload that comes with being what effectively is the role of CICSPAR." John told Kelly.

"John, Every officer has a Senior NCO to help them with the workload. If need be I will fill in the role of a SCPO for you so you have some more time to yourself." Kelly said to John with kindness, sincerity and understanding in her voice.

"Kelly, I can't ask that of you." John tried to protest.

"John, even though you are higher ranked than me, can I give you an order?" Kelly pleaded with John.

John gave in with a sigh knowing he would never win against her when she was completely set on something. See John look at her as if to say 'get on with it', she said. "John, I order you to take me on as your senior NCO to help you with your administration problem."

"Okay Kelly, go find a desk and chair suitable for Spartans and then bring them here so you can deal with looking through the mission reports from the team members while I look through the team Leader's report." John ordered before Kelly darted out the room at full tilt. She took five minutes finding the table and bringing it back before leaving again to spend three minutes finding the chair and bringing it back to the office. Once situated she took the reports from Robert 025 and August 099 while John had Leon 011's report. Once they had completed reading the reports, the discussed what was in them and anything missed from one report that was in another. long story short, all the same basic information was in all three reports.

John then asked Kelly to file the reports and fill out a requisition form for Stargate training for the Spartan teams. At the same time John decided to go through the requisition forms from each of the teams to see if there was anything they needed desperately. John found that, Gamma team was in need of a few new armour plates that would hinder their operational effectiveness until they got those new plates, Onyx and Gauntlet needed new shield projectors for their armour as theirs's had been worn out due to constant fighting on Reach and Noble team 2IC Kat B320 needed a new cybernetic arm as the repairs done to the damaged one en route to Earth were only temporary repairs that were needed to allow her to operate. The mission to the un building had damaged it beyond repair though there was no fighting, the stress that the arm was under because of being used to ensure communications were maintained crippled the arm after they returned. John sent the requisition forms for the armour plates and new arm off first as they were components that would bring the number of operational spartans down to 36 spartans. The shield projectors did not stop Gauntlet and Onyx teams from operating, it just made them a little more vulnerable than the other spartans.

Just then a call came in from Rear Admiral Jacob Keyes.

"Sir, I assume you have a mission for some of my Spartans?" The Master Chief asked before Keyes could even greet him.

"Yes Chief, I do. Before I talk about that though, I wanted to ask how you were coping?" Keyes asked. This is what John liked about Keyes. He was an unrelenting force in battle but always looked out for the wellbeing of his crew and those under him.

"Fine thank you Sir. 087 has kindly volunteered to operate as my senior NCO to help me complete the work I have." The Master Chief replied.

"Give my thanks to Petty Officer 1st Class 087. Now Due to the training that the SG teams need to operate as members of the UNSC, we will be deploying a force of ODSTs to fill in the gaps where the teams being trained are. As such I am ordering you to dispatch a team of Spartans down to the SGC to support them in case s*#t hit the fan." Keyes ordered Chief.

"Yes Sir. While that is being done, can I dispatch the teams in two team batches to the SGC to be Stargate trained to ensure that in the event that the team sent down is incapacitated in any way, I have all my Spartans ready to take over should the need arise?" He asked Keyes.

"Good idea Chief, for training, I would suggest that you have them go through the Stargate to the Alpha Site and back to get a feel of the stargate. Send them back once SG-1 has returned from training so that they know how the Stargate works should they ever be stranded away from Earth. I will ask General Hammond to have Captain Carter teach them about the physics during time when she is not off-world." Keyes said.

"Thank you Sir. I will assemble the teams ready to go down and explain their missions to them." Chief told Keyes.

"Understood Chief. Rear Admiral Keyes out."

John turned to Kelly. "Kelly send Red, Green and Black teams to the Briefing room. We will meet them there." John ordered before writing up the orders for the teams and sending them to his TACPAD.

(2020 Hours/ August 16th 1997/ UNSC Cruiser Lyonesse/ Location Spartan Briefing Room)

John was sat at the head of the table with Kelly to his immediate right-hand-side. Black, Green and Red teams walked into the room and saluted John before taking their seats.

"Tomorrow, you will all be sent down to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex housing Stargate Command. While there you will all be trained in travelling through the stargate. Red Team will then remain behind for 4 weeks. You will be there to support the ODSTs and SG teams still on the base in case things go wrong. Green and Black teams will return to the Lyonesse while another two teams are sent down for Stargate training. Red Team should be prepared to move at a moment's notice because the Stargate will be opening and closing every few hours with teams leaving and returning as well as transmitting their status." John informed them

"You will be leaving tomorrow at 0730 hours and there will be a barracks room for each of the teams. Cheyenne Mountain is an old complex so there will be no AI to manage the administration work. As such you will find that there are many more people on the base than on a normal UNSC base. There will also be a set of tables and chairs set up in the mess hall for you to sit at. the rest of the chairs will be small plastic chairs, yours will be bigger than those and metal with your designations stamped onto the back. Do not pick a fight with anyone of possible. Red Team, I expect to be sent a copy of your mission reports should you go on any missions. Due to everyone on Red team being the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, I am promoting Vinh 030 to the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. You as Red actual will have command of the missions that Spartans go on. If anyone questions you put it in your report and I will send the message up the chain of command. Good luck Spartans." Chief said ending the briefing.

(2020 Hours/ August 16th 1997/ UNSC Cruiser Lyonesse/ Location Admiral's Office)

Keyes had a very hectic few days since the 'Keyes Accords', as they were being known as, were signed. Yesterday he had been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and was now officially in charge of the UNSC Fleet in orbit of Earth. Alongside this, Keyes had to sit through a UNSC HIGHCOM meeting about what was to be done with the current military equipment that Earth's militaries had been using. It was decided that the small arms would be used until UNSC weapons were available and would be distributed division by division across Earth's massive military. It was also decided that the same would work for the ground vehicles and aircraft. The Military would have to be scaled down and people become new colonists for the first world they intended to colonise. The Navy was a bit of a problem. There were so many ships that they would all eventually be decommissioned and the parts for them would be needed to build the new fleet of space going vessels. They decided that because the aircraft carriers and submarines were going to be the most expensive to maintain with their nuclear reactors, they would be decommissioned first and then the rest of the fleet. This also allowed the UNSC Navy to continue with anti-piracy operations around the world. While the decommissioning process was being carried out, One new aircraft carrier would be designed and built to carry UNSC aircraft as a last line of defence should the worst occur. A small force of escorts would also be maintained as well as the supply ships for the fleet. The new Carrier would be built by hopefully 2005 with the escorts operating as anti-piracy vessels in the meantime. The vessels that would be retained would be the Ticonderoga Class Cruisers Bunker Hill, Normandy and Port Royal, the Type 82 destroyer Bristol, the Type 42 destroyers Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as the entirety of the La Fayette class of frigates. Also Major Davis of the SGC explained the threat of the Goa'uld in detail to UNSC HIGHCOM. As such, they ordered another three frigates and a destroyer to bolster the fleet's numbers. Keyes imputed that the UNSC was, at the point that they had left, build orbital defence platforms around key worlds and would be useful here on Earth. This was met with wide spread agreement from the rest of the High Command. So for now, three ODPs were to be built in orbit with all possible haste. Then there was the discussion about the retraining of the SG teams for UNSC weapons. it was decided to commence ASAP and send seven teams at a time. Keyes offered to send some ODSTs down to fill in for the teams missing while they trained as well as a Spartan fireteam for back up should they be needed. This was agreed upon and the meeting finally ended.

Now Keyes was getting ready to inform Hammond about the ODSTs and Spartans coming down tomorrow with the necessary equipment being sent today. He now had to also tell Hammond about the Spartan Stargate training that Commander 117 had proposed. Once ready Keyes pressed the call button to call Hammond.

"This is General Hammond." Was the immediate response from the other end of the line.

"General, it's RADM Keyes. I wanted to talk to you about what was discussed at the recent HIGHCOM meeting in regards to the SGC." Keyes explained to Hammond.

"Jacob, congratulations on the promotion to RADM. Major Davis has given me a basic debrief on what was discussed. I hear that you will be sending some people down." Hammond replied.

"That is correct George. Seven of your teams will go do their training at UNSC Lympstone tomorrow and in the same period I will send seven ODST squads to fill in for them. They will remain there until the other seven return from their training period. I will also be sending a Spartan Fireteam down to support our teams shout things go horrifically wrong. Commander 117 has also asked if he can send down two fireteams at a time alongside this one to be trained on the usage of the Stargate. Their training should only take a day or two. Once Captain Carter has returned from training, can you spare her from scientific research duties to teach the Spartans on the physics of gate-travel?" Keyes requested.

"Thank you for the ODSTs and Spartans Jacob, I will ensure they all return in one piece. The training of the Spartans should be relatively easy as we can send them through to the alpha site and then back to the mountain. As for pulling Carter in for the training, if you can get them into maybe two classes then it should be fine as she usually has very important work going on in her lab." Hammond informed Keyes.

"That's fine George, I will speak to the chief about larger classes for the theory. He would probably say yes to speed up the training and have as many Spartans on duty as possible." Keyes remarked.

"That should be fine then Jacob. Good luck with your semi-new command." Hammond said.

"Great, Thank you George. RADM Keyes out." Keyes said before closing the line.

Keyes then quickly called the Master Chief. "Commander, it's Keyes. If you are accepting of the Spartans to be put into larger classes for the theory from Captain Carter, then your Stargate training is cleared with both myself and General Hammond." Keyes said as the Chief answered.

"That is acceptable Sir. Thank you." The Chief said.

"That's Good Commander, send an E-mail to General Hammond to inform him that you are happy with the arrangements. Keyes out." Keyes ordered before cutting the connection.

(0830 Hours/ August 17th 1997/ UNSC Cheyenne Mountain/ Location front gate)

Ten Warthogs were sitting outside the gate filled with their passengers, duffle bags and weapons. Eight of them were Troop Hogs with all but one at full troop load and two Warthogs with the LRV loadout. Each of the fully loaded troop-hogs had an ODST squad aboard. The lead troop-hog had a now full-strength Alpha-Nine with Gretchen Ketola now back with the squad after her injuries were healed and the newest member, Lance jack* Jonathan 'Rookie' Doherty. The rest of the squads were from ships across the fleet. The troop-hog that wasn't full and the LRV loadouts had Spartan teams Red, Green and Black.

The airperson at the front gate was checking the orders and the list of people who were to be new arrivals on base that day. At the top of the list were ten numbers which correlated to the Spartan designations. The rest were the ODST squads which were split down into their squads.

Once the ODSTs and Spartans had parked up and collected their equipment, Margaret 053, Vinh 030 and Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck were escorted by a young airperson to conference room next to General Hammond's office to report their arrival while the rest of the ODSTs and Spartans were taken to their billets. When the three arrived they saw and heard somebody through the glass window of the general's office that sounded mouthy whining to the general about doing more training.

"Look Jack if you want to be better protected against the Goa'uld and have better weapons to stop them with, then you need to go and do the training. Maybe you will enjoy it. Now I have been informed that the people who will be filling in your position's while you are away have arrived. Let's go and greet them." The general said standing up to leave.

As the two men entered the room, the three veteran soldiers snapped to attention and saluted. General Hammond, not knowing the gender of the two very tall people, returned the salute. "At ease." He ordered. The one with the name 'Buck' written on the front of the armour came to an at ease position while the two armoured behemoths sort of did but they were still sort of at attention. "I am Major General Hammond, Commander in Chief of Stargate Command, this is Colonel Jak O'Neill of SG-1." Hammond introduced himself.

"I am Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck, highest ranked ODST here sir." The man introduced himself.

"Petty Officer 1st Class Serra 030 Spartan Red Team leader Sir." The now identified Spartan said.

"Chief Petty Officer Serra 053 Spartan Black Team leader as well as liaison for Spartan Green Team Sir." The other Spartan identified.

"Sit down everyone. So to begin with, which Spartan team will be here till I am back to full strength on my SG teams?" Hammond asked the two still Standing Spartans.

"Red Team will be the remaining Spartan Team Sir. Before you ask us why we are still stood up sir, these chairs will collapse under the weight of our armour Sir." 030 said as if reading the general's mind.

"Well thank you for the clarification and the information." The General said.

"Before you go to your barracks, do any of the Spartans refer to themselves, you know, by names or anything as a number seems pretty impersonal?" Colonel O'Neill asked.

"With Spartans we have our own names, but to others we are just numbers and ranks." 053 answered before the three of them saluted and left after their salute was returned. The three parted ways when they were near their accommodations. The Spartans were so tall that they had to somewhat duck while walking down the hallways of the base.

At 1030 hours, the Spartans decided to explore the garrison they were stationed at. They also took a TACPAD with them in case they ran into Captain Samantha Carter. They were the list of teams she would be training the Spartans and their groupings. Their first stop was to the armouries to see where the weapon caches were so if there was an emergency and they needed a weapon. They then headed to the mess hall. This was to check on the tables and chairs that had been sent for them to sit at. After testing out the table and chairs, they made their way down to the control room. On their way down there, they ran into Dr Daniel Jackson and Captain Samantha Carter. As they saw the captain all ten saluted perfectly synchronised. This startled her as she had never seen such perfect salutes all timed perfectly by more than two or three people at maximum. She saluted them back and walked over to the lead Spartans.

"Hi, I'm Captain Carter of SG-1, This is Dr Daniel Jackson who is also on SG-1." She introduced.

"Chief Petty Officer Serra 053 Black Team leader."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 031 Black two."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 101 Black three."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 143 Black four."

"Petty Officer 1st Class Serra 030 Red Team leader."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 029 Red two."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 039 Red three."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 059 Green Team leader."

"Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 093 Green two."

"Petty Officer 3rd Class Serra 122 Green three."

Each of them listed of in their teams.

"Don't you have names or something?" Daniel asked. It seemed to they had the perfect response.

"Between us we refer to each other by name. However, most people outside of the Spartans only know our ranks and designations. Now there is only one person maybe two who aren't spartans and know our names. We had the same question from Colonel O'Neill." 030 responded.

"Anyway, where are you headed?" we may be able to show you around." Sam asked the group of super-soldiers.

"It was our intention to head towards the control room and the room housing the Stargate." 053 informed the group.

"Well, we are headed for the briefing room, the two locations being so close, we can show you the way." Sam offered. The spartans appeared to not move or talk but politely accepted the guidance of a person who knew the base.

The Spartans followed the two down to the briefing room where they found SG teams 1 through seven waiting for Captain Carter and Dr Jackson.

"Daniel, Sam, I see you have met our new friends. Even some I have yet to meet." Jack said as he walked up.

"Yes Sir..." Sam only got so far before General Hammond walked into the room. The Spartans immediately snapped to attention and saluted the General. The rest of the room shortly followed the example of the Spartans.

"At ease everyone. Spartans, do you mind staying for a bit just to meet the men and women under my command." Hammond asked them. They felt they were obliged to do so feeling that it was an order.

Hammond proceeded to inform the grouped SG teams about the training that they would be going through very soon and that there were seven ODST teams and one of the present Spartan teams ready to fill in until they were back and after the other SG teams had been trained as well. This was met by some groaning and others gossiping about the new weapons and armour they would be getting. He then turned to the Spartans and Cpt Carter.

"Captain Carter, on your return here, you will be teaching two groups of spartans the theoretical physics of the Stargate alongside any scientific studies you will be doing after missions." General Hammond said as 030 passed her the TACPAD with the relevant orders and information on. She accepted the TACPAD and read the information on it.

"Spartans, your Stargate training will commence at 1300 hours. Briefing dismissed." Hammond said standing up and leaving. The SG teams began to mingle and talk. Teal'c made his way over to the Spartans.

"Greetings, I am Teal'c of Chulak." he said with a smile.

The Spartans all introduced themselves as they did with Carter and Daniel. The introduction from each of the Spartans gained the rest of the room's silence as they listened to the people they may be fighting alongside in the future. Everyone but Jack, Sam and Daniel were surprised to hear a rank and number but no name. Before anyone could ask about the name Jack interrupted them.

"Apparently, they do have names but they are kept within the Spartans and not know to anyone else." He explained to the group in a semi-bored fashion. The Spartans then excused themselves and headed to the control room before heading into the gate room.

Later that day SG teams 1 through 7 were sent to UNSC Lympstone while Red, Green and Black teams were at Alpha site training in gate travel. They had been through the Stargate and then had to dial the Stargate to head back to Earth and send Iris deactivation code before heading through the Stargate back to Earth. Once they we back on Earth they spend ten minutes or so learning the symbols for Earth and the Alpha site should Earth be under siege. After that Spartan teams Green and Black returned to the Lyonesse while Red team remained.

(2300 Hours/ August 21st 1997/ Avnil/ Location footpath to the Stargate)

Two men in parts of the uniform worn by an SG team were running down the path being chased by what seem to be the natives. They have head dress of long grass and painted faces or large clay helmet like head dress. Some of the natives are carrying blowguns aiming for the two SG team members.

"Come on Frakes, we have got to go." One of the men shouts. As they ran along one of them drops the IDC remote.

"Connor, I lost the remote." The man now identified as Frakes shouts and begins to scramble around looking for the device. The other man now known as Connors rushes over to help find the remote. Connor then picks up the remote

"I got it. We have to go, now." Connor shouts panicked and they begin to run again.

One of the natives pulls the blowgun to their face and fires a dart at Frakes. It hits him in the right thigh. Frakes then falls to the ground slipping in and out of consciousness. Connor on the other hand didn't notice that Frakes had been hit and fell. He ran up to the DHD, dialled Earth and sent his IDC through. He then turned back to find that Frakes was not with him. Connor then runs back down the path shouting for Frakes.

"Go." Frakes orders sounding drowsy.

"GO!" Frakes yells again before dropping out of consciousness.

Connor looks around panicked seeing the mass of natives charging through the forest towards them. He spins around and runs off. Behind him Frakes regains consciousness for a few seconds. Just long enough to push himself up before crumpling back down. All around him, Frakes sees the natives with those wearing the clay helmets in front with those wearing the grass head dresses behind them. A man wearing some form of robes over an SGC uniform and carrying a rifle, pushes through the crowd, grabs Frakes by the hair and pulls him up to the seated position. Another man clad in a full robe covering him from head to foot, makes his way to the front and bends down in front of Frakes.

"Frakes, Frakes, Frakes. I am disappointed in you, my son." the man in the full robe says to him. The man then pulls out a 9mm pistol, cocks it and points it at Frakes' head. The natives muttered nervously before the man shoots Frakes in the head. Further along the path at the Stargate, Connor hears the gun shot and looks back. The man with the pistol then motions for the natives to continue on towards Connor and the Stargate. As the two men look towards the Stargate, the wormhole cuts off.

"So Connor got back to the SGC." The man wielding the pistol said.

"What do you want done with this one?" The man carrying the rifle asked.

"Burn him." Was the simple reply. the fully robed man then turned and walked away. One of the natives doused the body in liquid before the man with the rifle took one of the torches and set the body aflame.

(0900 Hours/ August 22nd 1997/ Avnil/ Location Stargate)

Three Spartans stepped through the wormhole onto the structure holding the stargate. Immediately their weapons are raised ready for an attack. Vinh 030 was carrying a MA5C assault rifle as her primary weapon. Joshua was carrying a M90 Shotgun for his primary weapon. Isaac carried an SRS-99-S5 sniper rifle as his primary armament. All of them carried a BR55 and M6G2 as their secondary weapons and side arm respectively. They also carried a combat knife of their choosing and two M9 grenades. They had a small remote-controlled vehicle to carry the extra ammunition and camping equipment as necessary.

"Fan out and find any of the members of SG-9." Vinh ordered Red team over the team's COM.

Two green flashes came up as copy signals and the three Spartans moved out. Joshua took the left, Vinh the centre and Isaac the right. As Joshua slowly crept through the tree line, he turned on his thermal vision and spotted somebody lying under a mound of leaves. He immediately sent a sequence of green then orange lights through to his team's HUDs to say he found someone but not too sure if they were SG-9. Once Vinh and Isaac arrived he called out to the person.

"Soldier, this is Red Team sent by General Hammond to find out why SG-9 opened the Stargate and then have nobody come through. Explain." As Joshua said this, the SG-9 member stood up finding himself in a ring of three Spartan super-soldiers.

"Lieutenant Connor, explain the situation to us." Vinh said before Connor began to collapse. Joshua, being the closest grabbed Connor around the back and moves him to the Stargate platform to sit on. Joshua and Isaac immediately move to positions to cover their team leader and Lieutenant Connor. "Lieutenant, what happened here? The SGC received your signal to open the iris ten hours ago and nobody returned to base. Why?" Vinh asked again.

"Hanson." Connor replied.

"Where is the Captain, we need to..." Vinh began before being interrupted which was very unusual for a Spartan.

"NO, DON'T!" Connor shouted out in alarm.

"Why? Explain now Lieutenant." Vinh said forcefully. Connor's eyes then shot as wide as tennis balls.

"Frakes, he..." Connor said disorientated then ran off in the direction of where he last saw his friend. The Spartans immediately followed him. Connor got to a point on the path and then dropped to his knees besides a pile of ash with some bones in it.

"Lieutenant?" Vinh asked concerned. Connor then pulled a set of scorched and partly melted identification disks out of the pile of ash.

"Lieutenant, we need to know what has happened here." Vinh said with understanding for his lost comrade and conviction.

"Permission to speak freely about a superior officer Ma'am?" Connor asked.

"Granted Lieutenant." Vinh said needing to get to the bottom of this.

"He's lost it, he's out of control." Connor said despairing.

"Captain Hanson?" Jacob asked

"Maybe it was the sun or the radiation..." Connor kept on rambling

"You're telling us that the sun did this to Frakes, correct Lieutenant?" Vinh asked getting a little worried about the answer.

"No ma'am, Captain Hanson did this to Frakes." Connor informed the spartans

"Those are serious accusations Lieutenant." Vinh said slightly raising her rifle.

"For trying to get back through the gate." Connor explained.

"That is somewhat hard to believe, Lieutenant." Isaac said speaking for the first time.

"You don't understand, we were trying to warn command about what is really going on here. The natives believe Hanson is their God." Connor tried explaining.

"We have read reports where this has happened on many planet before because you came through the stargate." Vinh said reasonably.

"Hanson believes it as well ma'am." Connor said silencing the spartans.

"029, take Connor back through the Stargate and inform General Hammond on what has occurred. Get an ODST squad here as fast as possible with MA5Cs and BR55s as well as another sniper rifle. Connor, you are going back as you need medical attention and have the best understanding of the situation. 039, you remain here with me and we will scout ahead to find out where we will be going. Is there any information about Hanson's camp we need to be aware of Lieutenant? Vinh asked.

"No, no, no, no... You can't do that Ma'am. there are hundreds, probably thousands of them. He's their God. They will kill and die for him ma'am." Connor said frantically trying to warn the Spartans.

"Lieutenant, we are perfectly capable of defending ourselves. Tell us the location of Captain Hanson's Camp." Vinh ordered yet again.

"It's in a valley with caves along the side. It's about a day's walk from here." Connor informed them

"Good, RTB quickly so we can bring Hanson in for a court martial. Move out." Vinh said brokering no argument. Connor went to the DHD, dialled Earth up, sent his IDC through and went through the Stargate with Joshua. As that was occurring, Vinh and Isaac headed for the location of Hanson's camp as given by Lieutenant Connor. The two Spartans moved as fast as possible to reach Hanson's camp.

-Meanwhile-

(0930 Hours/ August 22nd 1997/ Avnil/ Location Hanson's camp)

The man armed with the rifle entered one of the caves after glancing up at the sun. The cave was lit with several fires and the other man, who seemed to be treated like some type of God, was sat in the room.

"Well Baker, who did they send? Was it SG-1 like I predicted?" The other man asked.

"We don't know if they have sent anyone but three armoured beings stepped through the Stargate earlier today." The man now identified as Baker informed the other man.

The man who had to be Hanson looked down at his identification disks and ripped them off.

Later that day, the two Spartans crept up to the ridge where the camp was located. They saw two people with a few guards nearby looking down into the valley. there were some of the indigenous people mining the stone and others moving the newly cut stone blocks. They made mental note of what they observed and then headed back towards the Stargate. After it turned night, some of the indigenous warriors began to scour the forest for the two beings clad in metal armour that their God had told them about. By midnight the Spartans had managed to retreat back to the Stargate and set up a defensive position there so that any reinforcements wouldn't come into a combat zone without there already being troops to support them. The Avnilian warriors got to the Stargate at about 0100 hours.

"Isaac, they are flanking left and right. switch to your battle rifle." Vinh ordered of the COMM.

"Copy that Vinh. You take left, I'll take right." Isaac reported as he switched from is sniper to his battle rifle.

"Vinh, they are regrouping and trying to force the centre." Isaac reported over the COMM.

"Copy, switching back to assault rifle." Vinh reported.

The two Spartans fought off the assault quickly driving them back into the forest with devastating accuracy. By the end of the skirmish, the Avnilians had taken thirty casualties dead and wounded.

At 0900 that morning, Joshua returned to through the Stargate with an ODST team. Gunnery Sergeant Buck and his team moved to gather their supplies and all nine soldiers move out towards Hanson's camp. Along the way, they stopped at Frakes' grave to see if there was evidence as to how he died. There was the head and casing of a 9mm round. The actual round was found in the ash pile with the casing on the floor near the grave. These were quickly bagged as evidence and place into Gretchen's daysack. At the same time Hanson and Baker were stood outside the cave talking.

"The temple is taking too long to build." Hanson complained at Baker.

"They are working as hard as they can." Baker said trying to placate Hanson.

"But not as long as they can. Divide them into shifts day and night." Hanson ordered.

"You can't do that." Baker argued.

"What?!" Hanson asked angrily.

"They'll die." Baker said explaining.

"Sacrifice is their way to salvation." Hanson said looking down into the empty quarry.

The Spartans and ODST reached Hanson's camp at 1500 hours. What they saw disturbed them. The people were doing hard labour during the day. Lt Baker was walking around making sure that people worked. Beside the road leading to the temple at the other end of the valley were five large stakes with one of the natives tied to each of them.

"029, take Corporal Taylor and Lance jack Ketola and subdue Lieutenant Baker and take him into custody. 039, You and Lance jack Agu will remain here as sniper support. GySgt Buck, yourself, Lance jack Doherty and Private Crespo will follow me and bring Captain Hanson in for Court Marshal. Regroup here and Alpha nine will be responsible for escorting the officers through the Stargate and into detainment. Red team will cover you from the native warriors." Vinh ordered. "Any questions?" She asked.

"What if they don't come quietly?" Private Crespo asked.

"knock them unconscious and drag them back to the Stargate." Vinh ordered.

The three teams moved quickly into positions.

"029, team callsign is Red Bravo. 039, your team callsign is Red Charlie. My team callsign is Red Alpha. Red Bravo, once baker is in custody, free the prisoners and send everyone back into the caves once we leave. Copy." Vinh ordered. Two green flashes popped up on his HUD and then another green flash to indicate that the callsigns had been received and that Joshua had got the two secondary missions. "Move out." Vinh ordered. The strike was quick and surgically precise. Baker was walking past the workers when he saw one of them fall over.

"Do I have to make an example? DO I!?" Baker yelled before pulling his rifle off of his shoulder. Before he could strike the fallen man with the butt of the rifle, the weapon was removed from his grasp and he was knocked to the floor.

"Lieutenant Baker. You are charged with dereliction of duty, assisting in the murder of a fellow officer namely Lieutenant Thomas Frakes and attempting to murder another officer namely Lieutenant Laurence Connor. I Petty Officer 2nd Class Serra 029 are placing you under arrest pending court martial." Joshua said as Dutch and Gretchen hauled him up and tied him up tightly with a set of zip ties. "Corporal, Lance Corporal take this man away." Joshua ordered. He then removed his combat knife and walked over to the people tied to the stakes and cut them free. All this occurred with the rest of the working native population watching on with a mixture of awe and horror.

At the entrance the cave system, Vinh, Buck, Mickey and Rookie had to subdue the two guards before they were able to enter the caves. Once the guards had been subdued quietly and non-lethally, the four of them marched into the room that Hanson was in. "Captain Jonas Hanson, you are charged with dereliction of duty, the attempted murder of an officer namely Lieutenant Laurence Connor and the murder of another officer namely Lieutenant Thomas Frakes. I Petty Officer 1st Class Serra 030 am placing you under arrest pending Court Marshal." Vinh said. Hanson was so taken aback by the abruptness and blatantness of her entry and monologue that he didn't have a chance to reach for his pistol as his hands were also tied with zip ties. "Lance jack, Private, move him back to the rendezvous." Vinh ordered as buck removed his weapon from its holster and retrieved Hanson's tactical vest. The group then left the caves to meet up with Red Bravo and Red Charlie.

Due to the suddenness and commanding presence that the Spartans and ODSTs had with their armour, the native warriors didn't begin to try and attack the group until they had regrouped with the sniper team.

"Red team defensive formation. Corporal Taylor, Lance jacks Ketola and Doherty and Private Crespo move the prisoners to the Stargate. Lance jack Agu go with them to dial the Stargate for immediate extraction. GySgt Buck, form up with Red team to protect the rest of the team and the prisoners." Vinh ordered quickly trying to move the team back to the Stargate. The ODSTs rushed Baker and Hanson back to the Stargate as quickly as possible. At one point, they had to threaten to knock Hanson out and drag him back to Earth in disgrace. This didn't work so, Rookie and Mickey knocked Hanson out and dragged him to the Stargate. The three Spartans and single ODST retreated slower than the others to buy them a bit of time. Once they were in sight of the Stargate and could see that Romeo was holding it open for them, they sprinted as fast as they could to and through the Stargate.

(1700 Hours/ August 22nd 1997/ SGSC Briefing Room/ Location Level 28 Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA)

Lieutenant Connor, Alpha-nine and Spartan Red team were gathered in the briefing room for a debriefing on their mission to Avnil. Alpha-nine and Lieutenant Connor were seated around the table leaving space for the ONI officer and General Hammond at the end of the table nearest to Hammond's office, while the Spartans were stood at the other end of the table. Captain Dare was the first person to walk into the room. The room came to attention and the Spartans snapped salutes for the Captain. She returned the salute.

"You can sit down everyone who can." She said referring to the Spartans. Alpha-nine and Lieutenant Connor sat back down as Dare went an sat next to Buck. Not a minute later out of the door into Hammond's office walked Hammond himself. Everyone was stood up again with the Spartans saluting the General. He returned the Spartans salute.

"Be seated everyone." Hammond ordered as he himself sat down at the end of the table.

"Lieutenant Connor, as you were there before anyone else, please tell us what happened that meant we had to send in three Spartans and six Orbital Drop Shock Troopers." Dare said seriously looking across the table at him with her TACPAD and a stylus in hand to make notes.

"Ma'am, when we arrived, the cave dwellers immediately bowed down to us. They thought we were their Gods." Connor began to explain.

"Well Lieutenant, according to the mission reports I have read from the SGC, this seems to be a very common occurrence." Dare said.

"The thing is ma'am; Hanson didn't deny it. He said it was safer for us to let them believe that we were their Gods. He said it was the...uh...system of governance they needed to retake their world." Connor explained shocking everyone.

"And you accepted this?" Hammond asked alarmed.

"Frakes was our anthropologist as I'm sure you are aware sir, ma'am. He agreed with Hanson that it might be safer. But the longer we stayed there, the stronger they believed it. In our fourth or fifth week there a young child wondered out of the caves. They must have gotten lost; Hanson went out after him. He was gone for two full days before he came back carrying the child in his arms, barely alive." Connor continued.

"I imagine the cave dwellers must have loved him for that." Buck joked.

"Yeah, they did. He wasn't sane after that." Connor spoke seriously while staring blankly at the table.

"Are you telling us that it was the sun that sent him over the edge lieutenant?" Dare asked worried.

"No ma'am, if it was one thing Frakes and I would have spotted it and done something about it before..." Connor explained to the captain.

"Before what, lieutenant?" Dare asked worriedly.

"A few of the cave dwellers... got the idea that Hanson was just a man like they were. Thanks to Frakes and I,. Hanson had them tied to stakes and left outside under the direct sunlight. If they lived for seven days, they were allowed back into the caves. By then they were blind. Big bleeding burns all over them. Just took them a little longer to die. I'd rather eat a bullet." Connors continued shocking the two other officers in the room. "As we were trying to get back through the gate, Frakes was hit by one of their blow guns. Hanson and Baker caught him. I heard a gunshot before finding a hiding place. The next day after being found by the Spartans, I found out that they had burned Frakes' body. 030 then had 029 take me back through the gate to inform the general of what happened and get medical attention." Connor ended.

"Now I understand fully why Hanson and Baker are under lock and key. Thank you Spartans." Hammond said earning a nod from them.

"Spartans, would you give us an account of what happened when you arrived." Dare ordered the Spartans. The Spartans went into detail about their arrival, finding Connor and then Frakes' remains. 030 and 039 then spoke about what happened on Avnil while 029 escorted Connor back to the SGC. This included their scouting mission to Hanson's camp and the attack by the natives in the evening. They moved swiftly onto the arrival of 029 with Alpha-nine and their capture of Hanson and Baker as well as their extraction by Stargate.

"Sir, Ma'am, we have been ordered to send a copy of our written reports to Commander 117. We shall be doing so alongside the two of you and RADM Keyes." 030 informed the surprised officers.

"Very well, PO1 030. Gunnery Sergeant Buck, was there anything missed by the Spartans that you or your squad wish to report?" Dare asked.

"Only that we had to knock Captain Hanson out because of he became non-compliant ma'am." Rookie said.

"Thank you everyone." Dare said finishing her notes.

"Thank you everyone, briefing dismissed." Hammond said standing up. Everyone who was sat at the table stood up while the Spartans saluted Hammond again. He returned the salute and then returned back to his office.

The Spartans returned to their barracks and filled out their mission reports. Once they were completed, They were sent off to Commander 117, Captain Dare, General Hammond and Admiral Keyes.

Note: Any dates for SG Missions are being being given their official release dates as I am unsure as to the actual dates that each of the missions happened on.

I am unsure if there is a training variant of the M9 grenade so I have created one and named it the M9T. It is the same grenade but just with dummy fuses and no explosive charges.

For the commissioning of Daniel and Teal'c, it is meant as a formality to make sure that any highly classified information that they know effectively stays 'within the military'.

Because nobody has gone against the list of people I have suggested to be a part of the story in the forum, I have decided to include two of them here in the story. I will publish a chapter at the end of Season one of SG-1 to explain Gretchen's revised back story.

*Lance jack is a slang term in the British army for a Lance Corporal.

Hanson and Baker's interrogations and Court Martial will occur in the next Chapter.

Updated 04/03/2023 due to resetting the dates according to the calendar for 1997 and minor errors.
