4. Riveria - Saving a Princess

Bell heard some whispers and mumbles on his way to the Twillight Mansion of the Loki Familia.

It was the second day after he had fought against Udaeus and he was the number one topic of conversation in town.

"Thats him."

"Thats Argonaut."

"Woah...so handsome.."

"He did that? Defeated a Floor boss on his own?"

"The hero..."

"Like the sword princess."

"And he saved a party from the Ganesha Familia."

After Bell had reached level seven due to defeating the black beast that had attacked Orario, Ottar had visited him to ask Bell to train with him. After they had trained, Ottar explained to Bell he would need to go into the dungeon alone to see what he is truly capable of. While he was about to go down to the 38th Floor, Bell ran into a party of the Ganesha Familia that returned from the deep Floors...and happened to get attacked by Udaeus, who spawned two weeks earlier than he should.
He saw no other chance, so Bell attacked Udaeus, defeating him after a long fight and saving more than two third of the party.

When this made the round in Orario, it also had reached the ears of the Loki Familia, and via Ais, Finn asked Bell to visit their home. Curious about what they wanted from him, Bell had agreed, it was Ais after all who had asked him.

It was about two hours before noon when Bell arrived at the Loki Mansion. Two armed members of the Familia stood guard at the main gate.

"Do you have business here?"

"I am Bell Cranel, I was invited by Mr. Finn Deimne."

"The one they call Argonaut?"

"Yes."

"Okay, come in." Apparently he was expected.

It wasn´t the first time that Bell came to that Mansion, but the guards weren´t the same as last time. He was always amazed by that Mansion, the building looked somewhat bizarre with many small towers of different sizes.

"Ah Argo! Good morning!"

By chance he walked past Tiona.

"Good morning Tiona."

"Are you here to talk to Finn?"

"Yes, he wants to discuss something."

"Oh okay, then better not let him wait.

"Of course not, I see you later than I guess?"

A few Loki Familia eyed them from the living room or the hallway, curious why Bell might be here.

For some reason Tiona smirked. "Oh Argo, you have something on your face."

"Huh? What is it?" Bell was about to touch his face.

Tiona grinned, grabbed his shirt and pulled him towards her, giving him a long loving kiss, that let him blush fiercly.

"Me." She winked and looked happy. "Now go, don´t let Finn wait."

Too perplex to answer, Bell went on. Tiona turned around with a smug grin on her face, to look at her fellow Familia member.

But...

"Well well well..."

"Irkh...Tione..."

"What do we have here? Showing off with your boyfriend this early?"

"Sh-Shut up!"

"Tiona...so in love."

"Oh! Finn!"

"Wha-?! C-Captain?!" Tione whirled around and stroked her hair, but no one was behind her.

"Ha serves you right!" Tiona struck out her tongue.

"You will pay for that!"

And as many times before, the amazone twins fought each other.

Just before Bell arrived at the office, Lefiya came out of the room holding two books in her arms.

"Ah Ms. Lefiya, good morning."

"Oh ah Bell, hello."

Bell smiled. "You look really beautiful at this morning."

"Eh?!" Lefiya blushed fiercly.

"I mean it, you are always beautiful...but today especially."

"Mou...don´t tease me..." She pouted.

He looked into her eyes, absolutely honest. "I would never tease you."

"Mmmmh..." Lefiya´s ears turned red.

"Is Mr. Finn inside?"

"Yes, also Gareth and lady Riveria. Here you go." She held the door open for him.

"Thank you." He showed her the brightest smile.

"Ehe, no problem." Lefiya returned the smile.

But before he could enter...

"*Chuu*" Lefiya leaned forward when Bell passed her and kissed him on the cheek.

"Eh...Eeeh?"

"Hehe...your payback for surprising me like that, mister." Lefiya puffed her chest, proud to have won that small lovers play.

Since Bell had accompanied the Familia to a smaller expedition to the 50th Floor, Lefiya was in love with Bell...or rather she finally admitted it openly. She rememberred very well what she and Ais had done with Bell when they were alone...
That day was Lefiya´s favorite memory, she had seen and done so many wonderful things on that day...

"Ehehehe...Ais...Bell..." She already drooled again when she thought about what she and Ais had done.

"Ehehehe..."

"Kuah...Lefiya...creepy..." Elfy made a face as she walked past the smirking elf.

"Good morning."

"Ah Bell Cranel, come in and please take a seat."

Riveria and Gareth nodded to him while Bell sat down.

"So Ais managed to contact you about our offer."

"Yes, she told me about it, I´m sorry that I took so long but it was not an easy decision."

"I´m sure of that, now...what do you say?"

Bell took a deep breath and looked at all three people in front of him. "I would gladly accompany your expedition, but on one condition."

"That would be?"

"I want everyone to come back save together, I don´t want to lose someone who is dear to me."

Finn and Gareth couldn´t help but smile together with Riveria. "Bell Cranel I have to say I am impressed, that is a really down to earth condition for joining an expedition. And of course we will make sure you come back."

Bell nodded. "Thank you."

"Not for that."

"Now...what exactly will I have to do? How will this work? I have been on small expeditions with my Familia and you one time, but I dare say that things are a little different for big expeditions."

"Most likely, what is the deepest Floor you have reached?"

"The thirty-eighth, twice. And the 50th with you."

"Monster Rex kills?"

The Amphisbaena once but without me and well...Udaeus."

"As a party?"

"No..."

"So you really did it alone?"

"Yes..."

Finn smirked lightly. "Impressive, but..."

"But?"

"As far as I heard stories about you, seen you fight...you are very strong Bell Cranel. But the big expedition might confuse you."

"What do you mean?"

"You are the strongest person in your party by far, well except your wife, and it is to be understood that you are the pillar on which you lean."

"Yes." Bell nodded.

"But a bigger expedition fight in formations, like your vanguard and rear guard, but I asume you help when their is trouble in the rear guard?"

"Yes, I want to protect my friends."

Riveria smiled. "That is very noble of you."

"But in a bigger expedition you have to stay in the vanguard and let the rear guard deal with it themself except...I give the order to do so."

"Okay.."

"Can you do that Bell Cranel? Can you follow orders? It is very dangerous deep down in the dungeon, we must be able to rely on everyone holding their position. The Floors we are aiming at, are way more dangerous than the 50th."

Bell made a serious face and thought for a while. "I will do my best, I promise to hold my position."

Now it was for Gareth to say something. "You have our trust, but don´t be worried if you do that once out of reflex, it will be your first big expedition after all. But only once."

He nodded again.

Rivera cleared her throat. "Since you will need lots of informations, we have a team prepared to help you learn. Someone you are pretty familiar with...Lefiya!"

The door opened again and Lefiya walked in, followed by Tiona.

Riveria frowned. "Where is Ais?"

Tiona crossed her hands behind her head. "She doesn´t want to come out of her room, said something about not feeling well, she sounded rather short of breath."

"She won´t get sick on us?" Finn looked slightly worried.

"I-I don´t think so, she said it will be okay later."

"Hm...anyway...Bell Cranel, these three will teach you about what you will need to know. Ais and Tiona are always part of the vanguard, Lefiya is sometimes in the middle and sometimes the rearguard. Normally Riveria or I would teach you about it, but we have too much to do with preparing the expedition.
While we won´t look at your Falna, we need to know about your abilities. And there is one more very important thing."

"I´m all ears."

"You are a level seven, we have no clue about how strong you are now, and I won´t lie to you it will get dangerous on that new Floor, there might be situations where we have to rely on your strength."

"I will do my best."

"But!"

"But?"

"The most important point on the expedition is the safety of the party, you will be one of us and we leave no one behind. Our main goal is that everyone returns home."

"I have promised that to Lyon after all." Riveria made a serious face.

From all the girls that Bell was in a relationship with, Ryuu was the first he had married. She respected Riveria very much, but she wanted her promise that Bell would come back to her...and Syr...and Ahnya...and even more girls.

Riveria had seen enough of Bell to know how kind and honest he was, in many ways, he was the best man that most of the girls he loved could find.

Loving so many women equally, spending time with them and treating each of them like the greatest love in his life...

"Understood."

They continued to talk for a while until the most importants things were done.

"So Bell Cranel, I´m happy to have you with us on the next expedition, Lefiya, Tiona and Ais will show you how we do it."

Bell looked at Lefiya and the grinning Tiona. "Please teach me well, I will be in your care." He bowed lightly with closed eyes.

"Ah no problem Argo!"

Teaching Bell...might be nice.

Like many times before with Ais, Lefiya drifted into a fantasy with Bell...

She saw herself in a classroom like the one she was in years ago when she was still a student.

"No, no, no Bell Cranel. Not like this, concentrate more on your studies."

"Ms. Lefiya?" The student Bell looked up to her, blushing even more.

She put her index finger under Bell´s chin and raised it a bit. "Thats "Lady" for you..."

"L-Lady Lefiya?"

"Ehe...good boy. If you get at least ninety percent on your next test...I will give you a reward."

Lefiya leaned forward and whispered into Bell´s ear. "A kiss."

Lefiya blushed while she smiled and returned to reality. "N-Nice to have you, w-we will be gentle."

Now Riveria sighed. Phrasing Lefiya...phrasing...

"Ehe, I guess I´m lucky to have three beautiful women teach me." Bell showed them the purest, happiest, most honest smile in the world.

"!" Lefiya startled.

"Mh!" Even Tiona blushed.

I can see why they like him so much, letting his girlfriends blush so easily...even Tiona...

While Riveria was deep in her a bit conflicted about Bell having more than one wife...or future wife...he wasn´t a bad man or a pervert. Since she was so worried she had one day talked with Ais about him.
She had doubted Bell very much at that time, when he came together with Ais, Bell already had two girlfriends at the same time...maybe more. It was a very long talk she had with Ais that evening and she confirmed two things. Bell Cranel was, from his behaviour, like a prince...he treated every woman like his princess...or his queen. And the most important thing, Ais was very happy. .

That day Riveria rememberred a moment years ago, Ais sat in a chair in Riveria´s room with a mirror in front of her. Ais was still a child at that time, not even half a year part of the Familia.

"Riveria?" Ais had looked up with her innocent face.

"Ais..you have to take care of yourself more...look your hair."

Ais´ hair was messy, so Riveria took out a comb and carefully began to comb Ais' hair.

"Thank you...Riveria."

Riveria just had smiled and continued.

There was a reason why Riveria was called "Mommy".

Her eyes wandered back to Bell again.

I wonder...how many children will this man have one day?

For a moment Riveria stopped in her thoughts.

And so, Bell´s training with Ais, Tiona and Lefiya started...

Each of them enjoyed the time very much. Lefiya often sat with Bell in the small library of her home. Sometimes losing herself in thoughts how it would have been, going to school together with Bell...

Tiona explained to Bell how their vanguard worked and trained partner fights with him. When they were done for the day, Tiona accompanied him a few times when he walked home. Bell, Tiona and Haruhime often spend the nights together, reading hero stories or talked about that. Haruhime would sit there and hug her pillow, smiling warmly. The amazoness and the renard had become good friends.

And Ais...Ais...well...an airhead isn´t the best teacher after all. Like Tiona, she often tried to show Bell how partner fights worked...but in the end she went too far ahead.
When he tried to study with her, Ais often mixed up things by mistake. Like the order of Floor´s, which monster were on these Floor´s and so on. When she was in the dungeon, it was all in Ais´ head,
but trying to solve a test with him together...wasn´t her strong side.

One night when Bell was sleeping in his room, he suddenly woke up when a body moved on top of him, the hand pressed on his mouth.

"Bell...you are dropping your guard...that can...kill you in the dungeon."

Ais knelt over him, wearing her skintight "Blue Fox" ninja style outfit. It was a gift from Loki a while ago, Ais really liked it...especially since Bell said she looked so stunning in it.
At least this time she had rememberred to wear the blue fox mask over her face.

"Oh..sorry." Ais took her hand from his mouth.

"Ais?"

"N-No...I´m blue fox!" She averted her eyes.

"I know your voice."

"We even had a mission together with Mikoto when you wore this outfit..."

"Mmmmmh..." Her face grew more and more red.

"But I have to say...waking up to that sight...is like a dream coming true."

Ais fidgeted, blushing even more. "B-Bell..."

"Say Ms. Blue Fox...how about I buy you a special limited Jaggarmaru-kun snack for letting me go?"

Smiling happily, Ais wagged witht he blue fox tail that was attached to her suit on the lower back, right above her butt.

Slowly Bell put his hands on Ais´ waist, moving them around to her back, and slowly pulled her closer. Ais didn´t resist in the slightest.

"But that will only possible tomorrow...so...I will have to hold my guard up until then."

With a sudden movement that let Ais yelp, Bell threw her around, so that her back hit the bed and he pinned her down under him.

"B-B-Bell?!"

"You look so beautiful Blue Fox...not as beautiful as the sword princess is..."

Slowly Bell took the blue fox mask off Ais´ face and smiled to her. "I guess I will have to pin you down for the whole night."

Slowly Bell layed down next to Ais, put his arms around her and gently pulled her into a loving hug while he closed his eyes.

This is unexpected...but...not so bad...

The next day Ais got scolded by Riveria when she returned home.

"You sneak out at night and into the room of your boyfriend? Young lady, we need to have a talk!"

After a week, Riveria took Ais aside.

"Ais, I asked you to teach Bell Cranel the important things about the vanguard and the monsters."

"I´m trying to, Riveria..."

"Well through Lefiya I noticed that you are lacking some studies too..."

Gasp!

Ais averted her eyes, uneasy. "N-No...I-I d-don´t..."

"My eyes are here, young lady. And I have seen your tests."

Ais returned her gaze to Riveria, before lowering her face a bit and glancing up to Riveria.

"Your puppy eyes won´t work this time, you and Bell Cranel will go into the library and study in earnest. You are not allowed to come out until you finish, except for the bathroom of course."

"Okay..."

"Ais...I can´t hear you."

"Yes, Ma´am!"

Riveria sighed when Ais ran off, it wasn´t easy to be the Familia´s "Mommy"...not that she wanted to. And having three growing girls in love with their boyfriend...made it only harder for Riveria.

I wished they would focus more on their studies for the dungeon...

At least Lefiya did that, but she flirted with Bell when they were in the library too...sort of. Both were really clumsy when it came to flirting.

"Bell, here."

Ais wore her usual short, white dress that she also used in the dungeon and light shoes. Bell his usual clothes, he followed her through the rows of shelves. Both had worked for two hours now, written down many things for Bell about monster abilities, party tactics, logistics and other things. Ais was more exhausted than Bell, he was used to study a lot with Eina, and Ais didn´t really liked to learn so much. At least learning together with Bell was nice, both smiled often to each other,
when their elbows bumped against the others, or their feet touched. But now they needed another book and were searching for it, the library was surprisingly big. That was due to Riveria´s influence on Loki, she wanted the younger member to be able to learn as much as they could.

Also, Bell and Ais were alone in the library, Riveria had closed the door so they could fully concentrate. Which wasn´t that easy for Bell, seeing Ais´ bare back all the time, her so close to him...it let his heart race. After searching for a while they arrived at the last shelv in the farthest corner.

"Ah, up there." She pointed up.

The book was a little bit out of range for her, but she tried to get it anyway.

"Ais..shall I help you?"

"N-No, it´s okay."

Ais tried harder and stretched more. She stood on tiptoe and stretched up as far as she could...not noticing something.

"A-Ais...your skirt.."

"Hm?" Only a few cenitmeters more and she would have the book.

Her short dress wasn´t meant for that movement...so it got pulled up...revealing something beautiful to Bell´s eyes.

"Ais! Your skirt...skirt!"

"Bell, please wait a moment."

Carefully, Ais put her foot on the stood on the bottom shelf and climbed up a bit, granting Bell an even more amazing sight.

Bell stepped forward, he just wanted to pull Ais skirt down. In the same moment he did that, Ais grabbed the book...and slipped with her foot.

Without thinking, Bell just reacted and tried to catch Ais. She fell into his arms, Bell bumped lightly against the shelf that stood on the wall.

"Ais?"

She leaned closer and softly kissed him, at first surprised, Bell returned the kiss. Both sighed, Ais put down the book into a shelf and put her hands on Bell´s chest. In return he put his arms around hers and gently pulled her towards him.
With closed eyes both just stood there for a while, kissing lovingly.

Bell´s body jerked lightly when he felt something...a hand wandering over his pants.

He broke the kiss. "A-Ais?"

"Bell..this is...my fault..."

"No ahm...i-it´s okay.."

"No...you are uncomfortable...I feel it..."

An enormous wave rushed in from the front, werewolf like creatures with white fur led the charge, Bete especially hated these. Other wolf creatures, huge snow spiders and even three mammothons closed in. The dungeon didn´t want to let them go.

"Creeping war, unavoidable destruction. The horn of battle sounds aloud, the cruelty of conflict will envelop all."

Bell blocked the leg attack of a snow spider with his sword, stabbing between the eyes with his Knife. The next spider was destroyed with a quick use of his firebolt. He and Ais had to change their way of fighting, since so many monsters came, they couldn´t evade or they would swarm the two elves behind them.

"Come, crimson flames, the ruthless inferno. You are the avatar of hellfire."

Still he found it amazing how calm they continued their chant, in the past Lefiya would have panicked and broke her chant, but now she was a level five adventurer and probably one of the five strongest mages in the city. Tiona and Tione hacked and whirled through the monsters on the left flank, Gareth and Tsubaki on the right, the supporer behind Bete and Finn.
They had to keep moving continuously, if they would stay still, the monsters would overwhelm them.

"Sweep completely, bring a close to the great war. Burn them through, Sword of Surtr - my name is Alf!"

Magical ciruit lines of red energy emerged from Riveria´s feet into all directions except for her back. Lefiya gave a specific signal and everyone fell back as fast as they could. Before Riveria finished her spell, Lefiya raised her left hand and unleashed the magic that she had on hold with her skill.

"Via Shilheim!"

A barrier of golden light enveloped the expedition behind Riveria, the monsters jumped at the defensless mage...

"REA LAEVATEINN!"

Bell was always amazed to see this, tornados of fire broke out of the magic lines and cremated every monster that was caught in it.

As amazing as it looked, they still had a long way ahead...and more monsters were on their way. The expedition continued their way in the direction of the next Floor.

Just as the expedition fought their way over big rocks in a river, the water suddenly burst open. A giant Gnarl Worm burst onto the surface, normally these things only came out of the ground.
And it was aimed at Lefiya and Riveria, with no time to think, Riveria pushed Lefiya out of the way, as the worm slammed into her...shoving both of them from the rock right into the ice cold stream.
The others were too busy with fighting to help her, so Bell jumped after her.

Riveria did her best to prevent getting eaten, she used her staff to block the worms maw from closing around her. Bell had rammed the Hestia Knife into the worms body, using Fairy´s Dawn, his sword that was forged after his pledge with Ryuu as a symbol of their eternal love, to pull himself forward on the worm. Again and again they broke through the surface of the river, before diving down again. The worm was in pain due to Bell´s attacks and lost blood, Bell slashed and stabbed his way forward, he would absolutely rescue Riveria.

Riveria could only see the maw in front of her, whenever they dived down she swallowed some water, she got weaker and weaker.
