Three – Shouko Nishimiya
Shouko knows she will never have a real family; a husband who gets protective of her older daughter when she brings home a date, a brother-in-law who babysits her younger daughter when she and her husband takes a rare night off. But then she looks out of the kitchen and stares at the people gathered at the dinner table. Accelerator is threatening Hikigaya-kun with a pair of chopsticks. Misaka Worst, who is sitting next to the poor man, is explaining the science behind how Accelerator means to carry out his threats. Little Anya and Little Misaka (Shouko refuses to call her Last Order) are bullying Kageyama-kun, pestering him to tell them more about his secret girlfriend who lives in the US. The younger man is trying in vain to keep the little girls distracted by using his psychic abilities, but the little girls are no longer excited by the same old trick of bending spoons. He looks towards Accelerator for help and the older man growls and glares and says something which Shouko thinks is a little unkind. Hikigaya-kun breathes a small sigh of relief, but Accelerator is back at his throat again in the next instant, because Misaka Worst said something which made both men go red; Hikigaya-kun, out of embarrassment and Accelerator, out of pure, unadulterated rage.
'It's not perfect.' Shouko thinks as Kageyama-kun rushes to save Hikigaya-kun from Accelerator's fury while Misaka Worst and Anya and Little Misaka cheer them on to fight. 'But it's family.'
