"Are you sure about this, Lauren?." Bo looked around.
"If we get it over with now, we won't have to deal with it later. I'm sure." Lauren gently pulled Bo by her hand.
"It is getting late. It's almost time for dinner. You know what happens after dinner." Bo kept looking around.
"That's the spot. Come on. Let's go inside." Lauren walked a little faster. She loves how spontaneous she can be now. Years and years of order had long bored her. She opened a heavy door with Bo's help and stepped inside.
"It is not as bad as it looks from the outside." Bo shrugged.
"Kenzi should be here soon." Lauren pulled Bo to a table and pulled the table cloth off. They both stood back as dust blew in the air.
"I can't believe you want to do this in person. But I'm glad you brought me with you and not meet with her alone." Bo waited for Lauren to sit. She would sit when Kenzi arrived and not a minute sooner.
"I'm not worried. Even if I met with her alone, I would be fine." Lauren watched Bo circle the table. She looked towards every wall and window. She found it adorable. A powerful Fae is worried about her.
Bo stopped walking when the door opened. "Kenzi, join us." She gestured towards a seat on the opposite side of Lauren.
"This is shit, we couldn't meet at the Dal?." Kenzi walked towards the table.
"If you came here with that attitude, I can and could just as easily find another partner." Bo walked towards her and walked her to her seat. But she never touched her.
"I was just saying this is a shitty building, that's all." Kenzi held her hands up.
"Make this quick, Lauren." Bo sat next to the doctor and looked at a folder that sat in front of her.
"While Kenzi talks a lot of game, I have made a decision regarding my helping you with your Fae cases. I trust Bo, I don't trust you. So, I had some contracts drawn up. The minute you break your word will be the minute you will lose my assistance. They basically say you will only come to my clinic with Bo and you won't try to bring anyone else there. You won't break any of the equipment and you won't find any other reason to approach my clinic without it being about a Fae case." Lauren slid the folder over to Kenzi and sat back in her chair.
"Does Bo have to sign these too?." Kenzi asked.
"Did you listen? She said she trusts me and vice versa. But Lauren, there will be guards on your clinic, this really wasn't necessary." Bo gently squeezed the woman's arm.
"You haven't been around the Fae world for years like I have. Kenzi can be sneaky and break into almost anything. The Ash had her removed from the compound more than once. You trust her, I don't. Now, sign the contracts Kenzi or don't. Either way, my life and work will go on." Lauren folded her arms and watched the woman struggle with her decision.
"Ten seconds Kenzi, and just so you know, it started at the word ten." Bo leaned forward.
"Okay. Okay. I will sign them." Kenzi grabbed the pen, signed and dated every piece of paper.
"Meeting over." Lauren nodded for Bo to grab the folder. Bo pulled them to her and looked at every document. "They're all signed." Both women stood and walked out of the building. Kenzi ran after them. She wanted to see what Bo was driving now, but she was too slow. They were gone. "What the fuck?."
"We can watch what she does from here." Lauren spoke as they watched Kenzi. She looked around a little bit longer and left out the way she came.
"This building could come in handy, Lauren. With a little work, this could be my office." Bo smiled.
"It was the Light Fae compound in their earlier days. But to match the Morrigan and the Dark Compound, they built another compound." Lauren explained.
"Nevermind then, I won't work in a building that was hell for you." Bo shook her head and they walked out the secret door they had used to elude Kenzi.
"We can drive around, if you want. I can tell you what used to be what." Lauren walked behind Bo at her insistence.
"When I lived with Kenzi, we never had an official office. We talked about our cases and eventually wound up at Dyson's desk or the Dal. I don't want to live like that anymore. I want my own office. It has to be mine because Kenzi would probably try and keep you out of it, just as we are restricting her access to your clinic." Bo helped Lauren into the vehicle and looked around before she climbed inside.
"It shouldn't take too long to find a for sale sign." Lauren patted Bo's hand. Bo nodded as they drove around. A few spots looked good but not good enough for her taste. "That's it!."
"That's not linked to any Fae that I know of." Lauren watched the building as Bo pulled up. "I got it." Lauren scribbled the number down. "I will call right now."
"Put your phone away, doctor. This is our time now. I can call tomorrow. We need to get home so we can get started on dinner." Bo smiled.
"Is it that late already?." Lauren looked at the clock. "We can go out."
"No. We won't get into that routine. You deserve home cooked meals. Not restaurants all the time." Bo laughed.
"Okay. Okay. I just thought you preferred their food over mine." Lauren sat back.
"Lauren! You know that's not true!." Bo laughed. She laughed so hard that she almost had to pull over. "There is nothing sexier than you sweating with beads of flour on your face and in your hair, at times."
Lauren laughed. "Is that all I'm good for in the kitchen? Looking like a junior Martha Stewart?."
"No! You are more than that to me and you know it!." Bo was in hysterics.
"Do we need to pull over?." Lauren took the wheel.
"No. That would make it worse and better!." Bo held her head in her hands and took some deep breaths. "Ok. I'm okay now."
Lauren smiled and let the steering wheel go. "That was fun."
"It was!". Bo laughed and held her stomach with one hand. Her tears of laughter were also tears of glee. The woman next to her is everything she wants for of the rest of her existence. Humans say the rest of their lives, but Bo wants so much more with this woman. One minute she's professional, then she's flirtatious and it's wonderful.
Lauren privately blinked away her own tears. She is sitting next to her future and she never predicted she would ever meet someone like Bo. Patients were always patients. Run of the mill and then she met Bo. The woman was a bit arrogant but also caring and curious about everything. Every Fae the doctor had treated before already knew what they were. So, they were arrogant and threw their superiority in the blonde's face. But not Bo. She didn't know what she was other than thinking she was a killer. So, while Lauren explained what she was and what she can do about it, they were bonding and falling in love. In love? With a Fae? Lauren was smart but out of her mind. Nothing good would come in loving a Fae until she found out that this Fae is good. She slept with Bo because she wanted to and couldn't wait any longer. Then had to lie and make her think it was all about the Ash. It was never about him. Not even when she examined her for the first time. That was for Bo. To help her understand what she is and what she is, is amazing. "You're amazing, Bo." She kissed the woman's free hand as they neared home.
"So are you, Lauren." Bo smiled and kissed the woman's hand before she pulled it away.
"So, I guess I won't be baking a cake tonight. What else do you want for dinner?." Lauren asked.
Bo laughed again. "Steaks and veggies are fine. But I can grill those."
"What will I do?." Lauren spoke with a deep south accent. "Oh, I know. I will start on my vegetable garden while you grill."
"Lauren, you will be working soon, I promise." Bo frowned. The blonde is getting bored with not working. "If you want to work at a hospital until then, I can drop you off somewhere."
"No. I don't want to start treating a patient and then not know what happened in their recovery. In my clinic, I can keep up with that. Keep records of their medical history. Be a doctor. Be an ear. Be a shoulder." Lauren unfastened her seatbelt and climbed out. Bo walked step for step with the woman. She is going to watch what she does and how she does it.
The Dal
"I need a triple shot!." Kenzi screamed.
"Why do you want to be that tipsy and why do you want to do that here?." Trick waved off the barmaid.
"We better talk in private, Trick. But after my shot." Kenzi turned back to the barmaid. She pushed the glass to Kenzi after Trick nodded the ok. "Lauren, she made me sign a contract saying I wouldn't bring Fae or any bullshit to her clinic door. Bo sat there. She sat there and watched it all go down!." She rolled her eyes and took a seat in Trick's den.
"I know some of the details, not all of them. That will be Lauren's clinic. She has a long list of who's allowed and who isn't. I'm on the who isn't side. Everything that goes on there or around it, she has control of. Her security will be more top notch than any political security. She's Bo's mate Kenzi. She will have everything that she wants and Bo will never deny her. Once it's built, even the Elders won't have access to get in. Aife will walk through with a fine tooth comb for any spy cameras. You know she will never cross Bo. What's done is done. If you want out of a contract you signed willingly, you better get a damn good attorney to fine tooth comb through it." Trick walked up and out of his lair. He heard Kenzi scream but kept walking.
Kenzi pulled at her heels in frustration. Bo is her partner but only she can come and go as she pleases? Lauren can help with cases but choose when and where she will see Kenzi, alone, but not at all really. If this was anyone but Bo, she would drop out of their business, but she's broke and working with Bo has its perks. She can do all the fighting and Kenzi can run when it gets too rough for a human. A human. Lauren is..was a human. But she's now Bo's mate. Maybe Dyson is right. Lauren is getting everything so easily. "Get out of it, Kenzi. That's not going to help you!." She screamed at herself.
Dyson.
"Take another step and I will blow your head off." Aife spoke softly.
Dyson held his hands up and turned around. "I wasn't going to go in."
"Of course not, wet dog smell can last for hours." Aife kissed her gun and pulled it down.
"What do you want?". Dyson asked.
"That building is important to me. It's important to Bo. Hell, it should be important to you because it's the third place you can't ever go inside." Aife laughed.
"Third?." Dyson asked.
"Their home. Lauren's clinic and my home. Mine has a big ass electric security gate and for dumb dogs, there's a no dogs allowed sign. You know any dumb dogs? I might need to put them out of their misery". Aife tapped her gun.
"Don't you have something to do? Somewhere else to be?." Dyson turned away from the woman.
"You're stalking an empty building and I'm the loser? Yep. You're a dumb dog. Pow". Aife popped her lips and aimed her free hand like a gun.
"Lauren doesn't deserve Bo or this clinic." Dyson looked the building over.
"Umm, yes she does. She spent years bowing and serving Fae. Being told she's inferior. Been spat at, kicked, and verbally mocked. She's treated Fae after Fae that only needed to sleep their wounds healed. I'd say she more than deserves this clinic and my daughter. Succubus rarely dated women, but Isabeau was never the average succubus. Her birth was even monumental. They deserve this life and they are going to get everything that they want and deserve. Now, get out of here." Aife gripped the trigger on her gun.
"Or what? You can't hurt me. Trick won't allow it". Dyson laughed. He jumped when she fired several shots.
"Well, the only thing you will be riding soon is the nearest whore." Aife rubbed her gun.
Dyson growled when he looked at his motorcycle. She had shot out his tires and the motor. "You will pay for that, Aife! It took me years to build her!."
"You can always build an inflatable woman. Blow her out your ass." The succubus walked away. Dyson wanted to run after her. He wanted to shift, chase her down and murder her. Not because of his motorcycle but because of who she is. Trick's daughter and Bo's mother. He wondered about her father. He could probably get into his good graces but given how dark Bo's Succubus is, he doesn't have any good graces.
Bo and Lauren
Bo sighed as she leaned against a pole. She was watching Lauren work in her garden. She smiled at how thorough she was about everything. She was also starting to get sweaty and rubbed a little dirt on her chin. Bo's eyes flashed blue and back to brown. No. Don't ruin this for her. Let her do her thing. Nature is the first born science and Lauren is one of its mothers. But the doctor is beautiful in anything she does. Bo's eyes went wide when she heard a crackling sound. Shit the steaks, she mumbled and turned around.
"It is okay, Bo. I wanted mine well done." Lauren winked.
"Shit, but you ordered it medium rare." Bo shook her head.
"Everything doesn't have to be perfect between us or with us, Bo." Lauren washed her face and hands as she walked over to the grill.
"I know. I just wanted this to be nice." Bo shook her head and flipped the steak over again.
"It is, just a little of this and a little of that". Lauren jumped in to help. Bo smiled but felt like shit. She can't even do this right.
"See, all better." Lauren picked her steak up and put it on the plate. Now the veggies, I will leave to you." She winked and walked away.
That did it for Bo. If she could die, this woman would be the death of her. She's just wonderful. She's Bo's match and mate. When Bo is doomy, Lauren is her sunshine. When Bo is on fire with rage, Lauren is a water hose. If her heart could hold more love for the woman, it would probably explode inside of her.
"Steak sauce, steak sauce, steak sauce". Lauren was looking around the grill. Then she knelt down to search a shelf. Bo had to turn her head away because it made her think of them in bed. Damn succubus water yourself down, she spoke internally. "Found it!". Lauren smiled and stood. Bo turned around and stayed on the vegetables. They don't have to be perfect but they will damn sure be good.
Lauren waited patiently and stayed away from the grill. Bo was working with both hands. She looked almost furious with her utensils. "There's no rush, Bo."
"No but I need to keep busy." Bo rolled her eyes and gritted her teeth to stay focused on the food this time. Lauren smiled and walked over. She hugged the woman and squeezed before pulling back again. "It is all of you, Lauren. It really is. I love you so much that my heart can barely hold it all. Even the littlest things that you do make me realize how lucky I am. If I hadn't saved Kenzi's life and left that bastard in that elevator, I wouldn't know you. It is amazing how long I've lived here and never knew about the Fae. I never knew there are humans that know about the Fae. I wish the circumstances were different but here we are. Living together. Eating together." Bo plated the vegetables and walked into the house with Lauren taking care of cooling the grill down.
Bo waited at the table and wiped tears away as she watched the doctor lock the patio door and wipe her own tears away. The women washed their hands and sat down to eat.
They showered and climbed into bed. Bo started to lay down but the doctor pulled her to her. "Bo, I love you too. So much. You are and were such an unexpected gift. Your personality is infectious and you could have picked anyone but you picked me. A dull, boring, science research nerd. Our life doesn't have to be perfect because we are both flawed and that makes this amazing and so much fun." Lauren cried as Bo sat between her legs. She kissed dark lock after dark lock before pulling Bo down to sleep in her arms.
Bo turned on her stomach. "It's a good thing we didn't go buy that flour, you taste better than anything that I've ever had." The succubus closed her eyes and slowly crawled down the doctor's body. Bo's tongue was wet, thick and firm.
Lauren was panting trying to grab onto something. "We're going to get thicker sheets, so I don't pull your hair out!." She breathed before a scream ripped through her throat.
TBC.
