Here is yesterday's! I'm having a lot of fun with these. :)
This one feels a little more scattered, so if anyone has any tips on how to improve it, I'd love to hear them. :) Enjoy!
Prompt: Write about a lazy weekend morning.

Weeze sighed contentedly, looking over at Picket on the other side of the bed. The sun was already peeping through the windows, but honestly, she didn't feel like getting up. But she should get breakfast ready. She snuggled deeper into the blanket. Just a few more minutes. Then she would get going.
Something stirred inside her and she put a hand to her belly, smiling. She was already pregnant with their first child. The past nine months after the war's end had gone by in a blur as she and Picket settled in and, really, as the whole of First Warren settled in to their new lives. Now that things were somewhat settling down, she had more time to ponder on what motherhood would mean for her after getting pregnant five months ago.
She'd always wanted to be a mother, even though she knew the pain it could bring, like it had brought her mother when Layra died. But the beauty and wonder of having children seemed more important and bigger than possible pain.
And now she was almost a mother. She felt giddy at the very thought. Very soon, she would have a youngling to hold and snuggle. Very soon, she'd have a son or daughter to care for. She rubbed her stomach, sighing happily. It would be wonderful, especially with Picket right beside her to support them all and to help their baby grow in its own way. It would be absolutely lovely.
She felt a hand on hers and looked up to meet Picket's cheerful and tired eyes.
"Morning," he murmured. "How are you?"
Weezie reached out and brushed some of his face fur into place. "Fine. But you look tired still. You should go back to sleep."
Picket shook his head and pushed himself up onto his elbow. "I'll be fine. The south field needs plowing and I need to deliver carrots—"
Weezie smiled but shook her head. "You stay in bed, Picket Longtreader. You look more tired than Heather did when you woke up out of the coma. You need more rest."
Picket huffed. "I'll be fine. There's a lot of work to do."
Weezie reached out with her hand and grabbed his arm and pulled his back down to the bed. "You stay here. You need more sleep. There's no way you can function on as little sleep as you've had this week. You can take care of your work when you're more rested."
Picket looked about to argue, but Weezie sat up and placed her hands on her hips before he could speak. "I mean it," she said earnestly. "Sleep for another hour, at least. How late were you up last night on those field plans?"
Picket shifted and avoided her gaze.
Weezie sighed. "That settles it. You're going back to bed."
Picket opened his mouth one more time, then shut it and sighed. "Alright." He leaned forward and kissed Weezie's cheek. "How did I survive without you to look after me?"
Weezie chuckled and wrapped her arm around him. "Honestly, I have no idea." She sqeezed his shoulders and then swung her legs over the side of the bed to go to the kitchen. "I'll wake you if you're not up in five hours."
"Weezie!" Picket exclaimed. "I can't sleep more than one hour."
"Well you look like you need ten more hours to catch up," Weezie replied, smirking at him. "Wake up when you feel rested is all I mean. I'll see you later."
Picket nodded and lay back down under the covers. "Thanks." He looked genuinely grateful.
As Weezie turned to leave the room, he called after her. "It was four, by the way."
Weezie gasped and turned to look at him, but he'd already turned over. She could still see the grin on his face though. After a minute she smiled and shook her head. "Sleep well. You need it."
Reply to Ann: Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. That was one of my favorite parts too! I debated whether it felt too lighthearted for Airen at this time, but decided to leave it in. She isn't completely gone, after all! :)
I'm not exactly sure what time this takes place in. Sometime between Layra's death and Helmer and Picket's arrival is all she decided to tell me. :)
