Nico POV
Underworld

After finishing the meeting at Camp Jupiter, I went to the Underworld to make sure everything was in order after Hades was gone for a few hours. My father and Persephone were already in his palace.

Hades seemed distressed when I came in. "Nico, my son!" He said, unnaturally chippy. I narrowed my eyes at his cheerful act. Why was he being so nice?

"The Olympians have decreed that you will coordinate between the two groups on the quest and make sure everything goes smoothly."

"Why me?"

"You are the only demigod that knows both camps while not being held down by ancient laws. Yes, it's you."

What could I say except 'yes'? I had my objections, but I knew that I could keep an eye on Hazel this way. Who knew what Octavian could do?

"Fine. I'll look after both of the groups," I looked down.

"Great! This can be another chance for you to be the main hero! Hopefully, you'll overtake Percy Jackson this time. Do not disappoint me." That turned sour quickly.

"Oh, come on now. This is going on for too long." Persephone told Hades, as if she could sense my discomfort. "You, keep an eye on them, make sure the half-bloods don't die, and leave us alone." Or maybe she was just being her old self.

"Should I leave, father?" I asked.

"Yes. Stay in your room until the quest starts."

I nodded and left the throne room. I heard my father say to Persephone, "How about we have some quality time together before the major quest?"

Eew. It was still hard seeing my dad be intimate with someone who wasn't my mom.

I went to sleep in my bed but quickly fell into a dream.

Artemis was fuming when she entered the hunt from Olympus. Artemis noticed Thalia practicing her close combat skills with another hunter.

"Thalia!" Artemis called.

Thalia paused her training and looked at Artemis. "Yes, milady?"

Artemis put up a fake smile. "Come to my tent after you finish your training. I will talk to you about the great prophecy and the quest."

Thalia nodded and resumed her fighting with the hunter. I followed Artemis into her tent. It was so long since I had last seen the inside, ever since Westover. What terrible memories did the hunt bring to me.

Whatever. It didn't matter now, years after the quest. Why was I even in this dream?

Thalia tidied herself up and entered Artemis' tent after five minutes.

Artemis ordered Thalia to sit down on a chair.

Thalia sat down, a bit fidgety. "Why did you call me in, milady?"

"Thalia, as my lieutenant, you must know the next prophecy. For safety reasons, since I might disappear again.

Thalia sighed in relief. "Ok, I'm listening."

Artemis waved her hand, placing a silencing spell outside the tent. "I don't want to worry the huntresses. Unwanted listeners won't hear what we will talk about."

Artemis clapped her hands. "Let's go straight to business. Do you know what the great prophecy is?"

Thalia shook her head. "There's another one?"

Artemis recited the prophecy, those dreadful six lines.

"To know the prophecy, you must know that Roman demigods exist."

Thalia gasped. "What do you mean?"

Artemis proceeded to explain everything about the Romans, bla bla bla.

"Do you still remember Jason, your brother?" Artemis asked.

Oh. I will dread the moment I have to explain to Thalia that I knew about Jason for almost a year without telling her. She will hate me.

"Of course I do. And how do you know that? I never told anyone."

"I am a goddess. We can read minds. Anyways, I have met your brother a number of times actually."

Thalia gasped again. "How? Jason died that day in Sonoma! He can't be alive, Lady Artemis. I searched everywhere. He can't be," She rambled on and on like a mentally ill person.

The goddess smiled sadly. "Jason is not dead. He is at the Roman camp of demigods and is doing quite well there."

Thalia looked at Artemis incredulously, and turned back to the tent's entrance. "Do not joke about that, milady. It's not funny."

"I am not joking. Your brother is actually alive and well at the other camp."

"Then take me to that camp. Please! I have to see him! Please!"

"You're the lieutenant of the hunt, Thalia." Artemis scorned. "Do not resort to begging, under no circumstances."

"You can't go to the other camp right now, due to the prophecy," Artemis continued. "Jason will have to wait. But your future cannot."

Thalia replied, "What do you mean?"

Artemis glared at her. "You better not be lying to me, huntress! I know what happened with you and that mortal boy Mark! You even went so far to have sex with him!"

The goddess stepped away from Thalia as if she was repulsed by her. My cousin's head dropped down in shame, and I gasped silently.

"I'm sorry, Milady! I just wanted a normal relationship, but I won't ever see him or any mortal again. I can stay in the hunt! I promise!" Thalia begged, even though Artemis scolded her moments ago for the same thing.

Artemis' eyes flared in anger. "Do not try to excuse yourself for breaking your oath! You cannot be part of the hunt or have a relationship! I could have let you go free before you slept with Mark, but not now."

"The Styx has not killed you for some reason, but you will still be punished! Mark is dead, but I put him in Asphodel. He was mortal and ignorant."

"Your punishment, though, is expulsion from the hunt! Pack up your belongings and give all your hunter's equipment to me!"

Thalia nodded in shock. She left the tent to pack her bags and to get her hunter's equipment.

Artemis smiled at the equipment. "Good. I am feeling merciful, so you may keep the bow and arrows."

Thalia nodded hastily, and she took out her spear, shield, and the bow and arrows.

"Now, this is the hard part. I'm going to have to take your hunter's blessing and immortality away."

Thalia nodded numbly.

"You will have to allow me to take them away, or it will be very painful."

Artemis put a finger on Thalia's forehead and one on her chest. After 30 seconds, Artemis pulled back her hand and nodded. "It is done."

Thalia lost her silver aura and she looked weaker than usual. Like an old lady who regained two years of life in thirty seconds.

"Anything else, Lady Artemis?"

"Don't think this is the only consequence you have. I will give the appropriate punishment you deserve."

"What do you mean?"

Artemis put her hands in a v-shape above Thalia. "A curse. A curse, you cheater."

"I, Artemis, goddess of maidens, forbid Thalia, daughter of Zeus, to enter Camp Half-Blood, Camp Jupiter, or Olympus, as long as she is not a virgin!"

Silver mist entered Thalia's body, causing her to shudder. Thunder rumbled in the sky and the tent flaps shook violently. Thalia gasped and started crying.

"Phoebe will replace you as the next lieutenant of the hunt. You may leave now, and never come back!" Artemis screamed.

After the scream, the goddess of the hunt took a deep breath. She waved her hand and Thalia disappeared.

I finally gasped at everything that happened. Thalia was with a mortal? Expelled, what could she do now?

Artemis noticed me and pulled me out of the shadows. "Ah, the son of Hades and the ambassador of his other form."

"I would wipe your memory, but the fates sent you here for a reason, the same reason Thalia is not dead. But, you are not welcome here. Tata!" She smiled and snapped her fingers.

My spirit left the tent and returned to my body in the Underworld.

What a sleep.

Percy POV
Camp Half-Blood

I slept as soundly as I could last night. Fortunately, there were no magical dreams. I woke up at 7, did my morning routine, ate breakfast and went to the edge of camp.

Annabeth, Lou Ellen, and Chiron were already there. I gave a quick kiss to Annabeth. "So, where's Jake? Isn't he usually on time?"

Annabeth answered, "Don't know. But don't complain about his tardiness, seaweed brain. Be thankful you're not the last one for this quest."

Suddenly, a voice shouted, "Sorry for being late! My dad gave us some supplies for the quest."

I grabbed Annabeth's hand by reflex, holding her close.

Jake, with a large backpack at the top of the hill, was looking at us weirdly. I stepped away from Annabeth but continued to hold her hand.

Annabeth asked, "What supplies do you have, Jake?"

Jake opened his backpack and pulled out rolls of dollar bills, a pack of ambrosia and nectar, and tools. Lots of tools. Hephaestus wasn't the type to care that much, but I wasn't complaining.

Annabeth asked, "Well, is everybody ready?"

I had everything I needed, especially for a quest for the great prophecy. Lou Ellen and Jake nodded as well.

Chiron said, "Jake, that was very nice of Lord Hephaestus to do that. Argus will give you a ride to New York City and after that you are on your own.

The goal of this quest is to make peace with the Romans. But I also expect for none of you to die. Please."

We hugged Chiron goodbye, and then the quest started. Not really, since Argus was driving us, but we had already left Camp Half-Blood.

Argus dropped us off at the Grand Central Terminal and left.

A voice shouted, "Oh, thank gods you're here!" Thalia ran towards us without her hunter clothes or a silver aura.

What happened? Why did she not have the silver aura? I asked, "What are you doing here, Thalia? Aren't you supposed to be with the hunt?"

Thalia winced. "Yeah, there's something I have to tell you."

Thalia explained her expulsion from the hunt and her brother Jason, which was shocking! I hope I don't have a long lost sibling!

"Since Artemis banned me from entering both camps and Olympus, I was hoping to come with you on this quest to see Jason. And to help you with the Romans."

I asked the quest members, "Is it okay if Thalia comes? A daughter of Zeus?"

They all agreed, with Lou being a bit hesitant.

I looked back at Thalia. "Totally! It would be better with you here."

Thalia nodded, and all of us entered the station. It felt like so long since the last time we were here, since Othrys, to be exact. And that killed two of us, something that was not happening again.

"Where are we going?" asked Jake.

Annabeth replied, "We should probably go to Cleveland for now and then decide where to go."

We got tickets and went on the train to Cleveland. We were going to find peace and defeat an enemy.

Hazel POV
Camp Jupiter

Why did I have to go on the quest, and not him? I was nobody, just a discarded child of Pluto. Nico was the Ambassador for Hades! He said he couldn't go because he was Greek, but I know he's hiding something. Nico is on the quest, somehow.

Whatever. Now's not the time to mistrust Nico, especially since he's my brother. I just had to trust his half-truths.

In the morning, I asked Nico for help during the quest. It was my first one, and the two praetors were accompanying me! I could humiliate myself in front of the two most powerful demigods of Camp Jupiter.

"Your curse over riches is your power. Don't be afraid of it, and use it well. Don't worry about the others' reactions." That was all he told me before he dissipated in the shadows.

To say I was upset would be an understatement, but Nico was out of my reach. I had to go to the Caldecott Tunnel where the others were.

Jason sighed when he saw me. "Good, now we're all here."

Reyna said, "Let's take a bus to the Amtrak station, and then we can take it through i-80 to Reno, Nevada."

When we were at the station, Octavian suddenly pulled me aside. While I was still in shock, he dragged me behind a wall where the others couldn't see us.

He pushed me against the wall and put his dagger across my neck, almost touching the skin.

What was Octavian doing?

This was unlike him, even with his evil personality.

I unsheathed my gladius and poked it against his t-shirt, right under his ribs. Octavian was not going to threaten me without harm.

Octavian snarled. "Oh no, Hazel. You are going to put that gladius back into that sheathe."

"Yeah right," I shot back. "Remove that dagger or I'm gonna scream."

"Because I know many things about you, daughter of Pluto. Things you don't want others to know."

How did he know my parentage?

I didn't tell anyone, did I? I was in deep trouble.

As if he could read my mind, Octavian replied. "I have many allies at Camp. They heard one way or another of your secrets. Of course I would find out about you!"

I spit on his shirt. "What do you want, Octavian?"

Jason and Reyna were shouting our names by now and I smirked at Octavian.

"Let's make this quick, okay? If one of the praetors die, you will not stop their death. I won't either. Understand?"

I exclaimed loudly. "You're going to kill Jason and Reyna!?"

Octavian glared at me murderously and shoved me back against the wall.

"I told you to not shout."

He cut my forearm, then pressed the dagger against my neck again.

I whimpered from the pain. What was his plan? "Okay, fine. You won't kill the praetors?"

Octavian smiled. "Yes! I won't kill them, I'll just let them die. So will you. And when we win this stupid war, you'll vote for me as praetor."

I glared at him. "What do I get out of this? Otherwise than a scar on my arm?"

"I won't tell the legion that you are a child of Pluto, and that you can summon riches. Especially if they bring bad luck."

"How do you know that?"

"Auguries are very informative. Especially if you ask the right questions."

"Octavian, the fifth cohort won't believe you. Everybody knows you're a slimy bastard. They will stick with me."

He smirked. "They might, but the others won't. The citizens of New Rome will always be afraid of you, once they know you can kill people with just a touch. Who will they believe, the augur or a nobody legionnaire?"

"Nico di Angelo's connection to you will strain his relationship with Camp Jupiter, if not destroy it. You do want the Greeks and Romans to work together, right?"

It killed me to realize Octavian won. Not only that, but Jason or Reyna would be killed without Octavian or my help. I was tempted to go against him, but I didn't say any oath.

I could save Jason and Reyna while preserving my reputation!

"Fine, you win." I conceded. Octavian was bested!

"Great! You know what not to do when the time comes. Let's go to the praetors. Don't forget to pour some nectar over that cut. You weren't harmed."

I nodded meekly, getting the flask of nectar out of my bag. I poured a tiny bit on the cut which had just stopped seeping blood. In seconds, the red gash transformed into a thin white line.

A brush of shadows appeared behind me. Octavian cried out, "HELP!"

I turned around to see Nico tying up a muffled Octavian!

Why was he here? To save me? He was already too late.

"What are you doing here, Nico? I thought you couldn't go on the quest!"

"Hazel, speak softly. The gods asked me to make sure the quest goes on smoothly. Basically to make sure the Romans and Greeks meet each other safely."

"The quest was going on smoothly, Nico. The quest didn't even basically start!"

Nico sneered at Octavian, who couldn't talk. "I know, but nobody threatens my baby sister, especially him."

"Can Octavian talk?"

Nico grimaced. "It's one of my powers, but I can only do it for a minute. Are you okay? Let me see the wound."

I showed him my arm with the barely-visible scar.

"Hazel, you put nectar on, right?"

"Yes. That's why it's barely visible."

"Good. But Octavian won't be good once I'm done with him."

Octavian thrashed against his bonds, eyes wide open with panic.

I grabbed Nico's arm and pulled him back. "Don't. Octavian is still the augur. We need him to have no injuries."

"Just one kick?"

I rolled my eyes at his childish attitude, but didn't stop him. Nico kicked Octavian about twice before Octavian regained his speech.

"The praetors will hear of this, you scoundrels, and they will punish you! Say bye to your life!"

Couldn't he stop giving threats for once? I kicked him in the ribs.

"You don't understand, Octavian." Nico growled. "You don't hurt Hazel. Ever. Your life will end quickly if you do."

Octavian nodded wildly, a bit green in the face.

"You're going to swear on the Styx to never threaten or hurt Hazel Levesque."

Octavian whispered back, "I swear by the Styx to never hurt or threaten Hazel Levesque."

Thunder boomed in the sky. Why?

I asked Nico, "What does swearing by the Styx mean?"

"It means that if you break the oath, the Styx will kill you."

Oh. Well, I won't ever swear by that name.

Nico looked back at me, his countenance soft now. "Hazel, I'm going to leave now. Please don't get yourself hurt, and good luck with your powers. Practice with them."

Right! I wanted to ask Nico about that.

Eh. It can wait until later.

Nico hugged me and shadow-traveled away.

I looked back to Octavian. "And you're going to swear on the Styx to help Jason and Reyna with all your power on the quest. If you don't, well, there's more where the kick came from."

(I didn't mean that, but Octavian didn't need to know. Nico rubbed off of me too much.)

He glared at me. "I swear on the Styx to help Jason and Reyna any way I can on the quest." Thunder boomed again.

I smiled and gave him a half-square of ambrosia. "Eat up. You need to be in perfect shape."

After he ate the ambrosia, I untied him from his bonds and walked with him to where Reyna and Jason were.

Reyna sighed in relief. "Oh good, you're back. We thought you were kidnapped!"

Jason asked, "Where were you two? Did you kill the monsters who kidnapped you!"

I laughed it off. "I was just… getting some tips from Octavian about quests. It's my first one. Right, Octavian?"

I smiled sweetly, but threateningly, at him. "Yeah, I taught her the ropes."

Reyna said, "Well, at least we are all together. Now, the bus will leave in three minutes, so let's get inside!"

We all went inside the bus to Reno, Nevada.

What would happen to us there?

Here is the fifth chapter of Greek Meets Roman!

Summary: Nico finds out Thalia had a relationship with a mortal and was kicked out of the hunt. Thalia joins the Greeks on the quest since she has nowhere else to go. Nico forces Octavian to never hurt Hazel and to protect the praetors after he threatens to spill Hazel's secrets.

Anonymously96, Thalia's punishment isn't a surprise. She turned Callisto into a boar for getting raped and she did many other heinous acts. Thalia's punishment is actually a bit lenient.

You guys realize that Thalia only joined the hunt to stop her sweet sixteen, right? Her breaking the oath with Artemis isn't out of the blue. Don't believe Artemis is a better goddess than the other Olympians. She's not.

I am not condoning or recommending violence, okay? Hazel and Nico kicking Octavian is a one-time thing and it won't happen again. But don't be a doormat for people to harass you. Please. Don't kick or stab people you hate, kids.

How will Thalia adapt to the quest without her blessing? Will Nico reveal Thalia's reason for her expulsion? What will Octavian do to get back at Hazel? What will happen in Cleveland and Reno?

Have a great day and let's all Mystify!
