Top Harry Drabbles: Harry/Buck{9-1-1, end of season 2)
Chapter Summary:In which Harry takes a temp teaching job in Los Angeles and meets the firefighters of LA.
"Hey, this seat taken?"
Buck glanced up and looked the guy over, seeing bright green eyes and messy black hair and the scar on the guy's forehead. The tight jeans and dark red shirt came second to his vision, as well as the comfortable looking boots. He met the guy's eyes again and nodded, idly glancing back to Maddie and Chimney again.
His sister and Chim were totally dating. He hadn't even noticed and yet… There they were, singing karaoke together and definitely sharing personal space.
He heard the guy sit down next to him, set a glass down, and then Buck turned back around, looking the guy next to him over.
"I'm Harry."
"So… which one did you date?" the guy asked, his English accent obvious even over the bar music. He pointed at Maddie and Chim and Buck laughed, shaking his head.
"Oh, no. I'm so not the jealous ex. That's my sister," Buck explained, smiling a little."And my best friend."
"You here as a friend or to find… someone to spend the night with?"
Buck glanced at the man, enjoying hearing the guy's voice. There was something… old and yet young underneath, perhaps something wild. Something that sent heat speeding through his body, a shock straight to his cock. "A friend but.. Look, this isn't… I don't want to be Buck 1.0 again."
"Buck 1.0?"
"Sex addict, self diagnosed," Buck offered, shrugging and taking another sip of his beer.
The guy blinked and then dipped his head in a nod. "I can respect that. I'm Harry."
"You here with a friend?" Buck asked, gesturing to the broad space of the bar.
"Nah. My friends are back in London. I'm here for a year to teach," Harry offered, turning to look around them. The music in the bar was loud but not overly loud, classy enough. "Los Angeles is certainly a different breed of city."
Buck snorted. "If you're from London, I'd say so. When'd you get here?"
"Two days ago. I start on Monday," Harry said, his lips twitching up into a smile as Maddie and Chim began another song. "You a native?"
"Yeah. What do you teach?"
Harry turned and met his eyes again, letting Buck see how green they were. The guy hesitated for a moment before speaking. "History. Ish."
"Ish?"
Harry grinned a little and winked at him. "Something like it. Or well… It's history mixed with… self defense. What I officially teach is classified."
Buck stared at the guy, heat sparking in return. "Classified?"
"Yes. Classified," Harry returned, taking a sip of whatever beer he had and giving Buck a slow once over. "What do you do? Something that requires muscles, I presume."
Buck felt his cheeks warm at Harry's words and his heart gave a loud thump in his chest. Their legs were swaying together, lightly touching each other, their shins pressing up one another. Heat coiled up his body and he met the guy's eyes steadily, sparks lighting up his hole body as they touched.
"Firefighter with the LAFD. You wanna take a tour of the city?"
Harry tilted his head and then grinned. "You offering?"
"Don't mind if I do," Buck replied, tipping his beer bottle in Harry's direction.
Harry laughed and elbowed him. "Sure. Sure, give me a tour of the city. I take it you're off for the night then."
Buck nodded and slid off the bar stool, waving to Maddie and Chim, and then leading the way out. Only Maddie knew that he was bisexual but none of the others knew. Harry followed him idly, walking quietly and swerving around inebriated bar goers.
Once they were outside and in the fresh air, Buck turned to look at Harry again. "So… what makes what you do classified? Are you a spy for the British government?"
Harry snorted and shook his head. "No. Nothing like that. I was… knighted though for special services to the government."
Buck stared at the man, trying to decide if Harry was lying. "You were knighted?! That is so awesome! What for?"
"Saving the world," Harry answered, smiling at him and there was heat in those eyes.
"Wait. Are you lying?"
Harry's nose wrinkled as he gestured to the parking lot. "Nope. I wish I was though. You can google it. Lead the way, oh good tour driver, sir."
Buck stared at Harry and then started to walk, leading the way to his jeep. "Here, passenger seat. I'm googling it."
Harry's lips twitched up into a smile as they both got into the car. Buck pulled out his phone and looked up the name of the man and…
"You really were knighted. Here's your photo and everything…" Buck trailed off, touching a link that would take him to a list of other people who were knighted. "Oooh. Look at this."
"Buck."
"Oooh, did you know Julie Andrews was made a dame? That's the woman's equivalent of a knighthood," Buck murmured, scrolling through his phone.
"Buck… Tour?" Harry tried, bemusement dripping through his words and slipped a hand into Buck's.
"Right! Let's go!" Buck exclaimed, turning the engine on and pulling out of the parking lot. He met Harry's eyes as heat slithered into him through their still entwined fingers. Harry's fingers and palm were calloused a little, not like Buck's and unlike Eddie's. Buck's heart thumped traitorously at the thought of Eddie, at the thought of Christopher. "Wait. What about your car?"
Harry shook his head in what looked like amusement. "I didn't bring a car. We're good. Soo… Firefighter. You save people then."
"Yeah," Buck said, smiling as he met Harry's eyes again briefly before looking at the road. The city was still lit up and the stars were just barely visible through the haze of light. "Saving people. I really enjoy it, working in the firehouse with my family."
"Hmm?"
"The other firefighters in the station. We're a family."
"Ahh, I understand completely," Harry said, as they drove. "I consider my two best friends my family and the saving people thing… I do it too. I'm a little known for it, in my group of friends and coworkers."
Buck grinned and continued to drive, throughout the streets of LA. "So, don't take the highway. I don't know if you've noticed but it gets clogged up easily."
"Yeah, I've noticed," Harry said dryly, his eyes widening minutely as they drove through a few streets. Not an inch of LA was quiet and Harry made a note to spend some time up in the air soon, just floating on his broomstick.
"I'm off here," Harry remarked, as they slowly pulled to a stop near his neighborhood.
Buck looked around at the various homes in front of them, seeing the moderately sized homes. Harry was gesturing to one of them, his eyes slightly visible in the street lights that littered the road. Or were they glowing? Buck blinked at the sight and then shook his head. Must have been the street lights .
Buck pulled over to the curb and turned off the engine, leaving the keys in the ignition. He faced Harry, looking the man over, and meeting the guy's eyes. "Ladies and gentlemen, this tour is now over. Exit to the right of the craft and have a nice night."
Harry laughed and Buck's lips twitched up.
"I enjoyed the night," Harry offered, unbuckling his seat belt and hesitating. "I know you're trying to be Buck 2.0 but… may I kiss you? That's not sex."
Buck swallowed and leaned in, groaning when their mouths met. Harry reached for him and pulled him closer, curling a hand around the nape of his neck, making him shudder at the touch. Heat coiled through him and he melted into the other man, almost shaking with it as their lips brushed, his heart thumping loudly in his chest.
"Fuck, you're pretty like this," Harry muttered, as they pulled apart, breathing heavily.
Buck groaned and shivered, goosebumps trailing up his arms as his cock hardened. "Can I see you again?"
"Why, yes, you can."
"Buck!"
Harry's eyes widened as he saw his boyfriend lying in the hospital bed, pale and vulnerable. Buck's left leg was bandaged all to hell, crushed by the fire truck, and Carla stood off to the left, as well as Maddie.
"Who are you?" Maddie questioned, stopping him as he walked up to the door of the hospital room. Her eyes were narrowed, protective over her brother.
"I'm his boyfriend," Harry explained, wary. "I saw the confrontation on the news. I'm here for him. I've been hurt in the past. I know what it's like to wake up alone and in pain. I won't have him go through that."
Maddie blinked and then let him pass, turning back to her brother.
Harry walked into the room and pulled over the lone chair in the room, slipping his fingers into Buck's. "Hey, darling. I'm here. You can wake up anytime you like, alright?"
"He's already woken up," Maddie offered quietly. "Once. He was worried about not working again."
"What did the doctor say?" Harry asked, sparing her a glance before pressing a kiss to Buck's forehead.
"His doctor was confident he would walk again but… work…" Maddie trailed off, uncertainty in her voice and body language.
"Work…" Harry agreed quietly, dancing his fingers up Buck's arm and tracing the various cuts and bruises he had. "I've certainly never been crushed by a fire truck before but I have had to regrow the bones in my arm. I suppose the pain is something akin to that."
Maddie blinked at his words. "What was that?"
"Oh, nothing. I'll stay here with him if you need to go home."
Maddie stared at him and then nodded, seeing something in his eyes that she liked. "Mind calling me if anything changes?"
"Sure," Harry said, pulling out his phone one handed and pulling up his contact list. His slim contact list. He didn't know a lot of people who had a muggle phone but Buck was number 3 on speed dial. Hermione and Ron were number 1 and 2 respectively. Maddie recited her phone number and he saved it to his contact list.
Harry didn't even see Maddie leave, as he made himself comfortable by spelling the chair he was sitting on. He sighed and pulled out a pile of paper, essays written by his students and pulled over the side table. The witches and wizards in LA were not nearly as backwards as England and Harry deeply enjoyed it on a petty level. He kept one hand curled into Buck's and graded, humming under his breath.
He was so lost in thought and marking essays that he didn't notice a man step into the room. The clearing of a throat made him start a little and he looked up, meeting bright brown eyes. Harry blinked as the man paused in the doorway, wearing a black LAFD shirt, pants and boots. He looked… utterly gorgeous, with short dark hair and that mouth…
"Who are you?"
"A friend of Buck's," Harry offered, putting his current essay on the side table and standing up. He was unsure as to whether Buck was out to anyone but his sister and Carla but that was a secret he was willing to keep. "And you?"
"Eddie Diaz. I'm his partner. I could go if you want privacy."
"Nah. I'm not sure if Buck's going to wake up again tonight. He's on the good drugs," Harry offered, shrugging and walking over to stand in front of Eddie. "Do you want a cup of coffee? I'm going to go get some tea."
"No, I won't stay. I only wanted…" Eddie trailed off, as he turned to look Buck over. There was a sort of wistful longing and worry in his eyes and Harry tilted his head, watching Eddie watch Buck. He wondered…
"You alright?" Harry questioned, taking a breath and heading over to the doorway.
"I'm…" Eddie turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow. "I'm fine."
Harry met Eddie's eyebrow with one of his own before nodding. "Hot chocolate then? You look exhausted."
"Don't bother. Hospital drinks are not…"
"Not my own concoctions, thank you," Harry retorted, yawning a little bit. "I may not like being in the kitchen much but for tea and hot chocolate, I make the effort."
Eddie stared at him in slight bemusement and then finally nodded. "Alright."
Harry let out a quiet noise of triumph and then walked out of the room, heading for the nearest storage closet to walk into his trunk. His trunk had a ready kitchen and he quickly put together a cup of tea for himself and a mug of hot chocolate for Eddie.
He walked back into Buck's room and stopped in the doorway, watching as Eddie sat down in the chair on the other side of the bed. "Here you go. If you don't mind, I'll sit and start grading again."
Eddie took the proffered mug and held it between his hands, not taking a sip for a few minutes as he watched both Harry and a sleeping Buck.
"You a teacher?"
"Yeah," Harry remarked, looking over the latest paper he had graded. Most of his students were still head over heels in awe of him but thankfully he had gotten used to it. Mostly. "I like kids and I can be rather… protective of them, given the opportunity."
Eddie let out a noise and gestured to Buck. "He loves kids too, especially my son."
"Your son… Oh, Christopher, right? Buck talks about you two a lot."
Eddie smiled softly and turned to look at Buck. He slowly took a sip of hot chocolate, blinking at the taste.
"I told you," Harry said, winking at the man.
AN: With hints of a threesome...
I totally ship Eddie/Buck and have been bingeing 9-1-1 lately.
