Jason POV
Amtrak Train

Even after we talked with Hazel at the pizza place and boarded the train to go to Salt Lake City, I had so many questions for Her. She said she met this daughter of Tyche called 'Felicity', but didn't elaborate much on her. She also met the goddess Trivia, which was really concerning. Gods normally don't interfere with quests.

I stopped myself from asking her questions by reminding myself that Hazel went through a near-death experience, and that it probably made her even more overwhelmed that all her friends wanted answers. At least, I hope I was her friend. She only interacted with Nico most of the time, and he wasn't the best companion. (No offense, Nico! But we all know it's true.)

Losing these thoughts, I had one question for Nico. I knocked on Hazel's door, where he was staying for now. I was still miffed that he couldn't properly join the quest and that he was sent to supervise us. You know, we weren't toddlers who ate the dog poop at the park!

Nico opened the door after a second and shooed me inside the room. He looked out the door warily and closed it after a second, one another of his weird traits. If he was looking out for monsters, we already killed the empousai at Reno. Except their leader, who was killed by their patron. The patron had no qualms over killing anyone or anything to help her plan, whether they were on her side or not! She was going to be a difficult and ruthless enemy to overcome.

"What do you want, Jason?" Nico asked harshly, which shook me out of those thoughts.

I wasn't taken aback from his tone, since everyone at camp knew Nico wasn't a socializer. You should have seen how he acted when he first came here! All broody and grumpy.

I hesitated over my words. "Uh, could you shadow-travel us all the way to, you know, Salt Lake City?"

Nico was shocked at my question, which was unexpected. It wasn't everyday you saw him being unprepared or anything. Trust me!

"Well, I was told by the gods to not speed up your trip to the 'crossroads'," Nico said with air quotes.

I looked at him disbelievingly, like You're really going to follow the gods' rules?

He glared at me and said, "Don't look at me like that, Jason! You yourself are the golden boy of New Rome. Don't be a hypocrite."

I was offended by that statement and defended myself. "Well, I break some rules! Just so you know, I sometimes sneak out at night from the praetor's quarters."

Nico looked at me unimpressed. "Let me guess, to pray to your father at his temple?"

I sputtered in indignance, since Nico was actually right. I only went there at night so the campers wouldn't fawn over or follow me. Believe me, being the first son of Jupiter in decades is a big deal! Sometimes, I wonder if they spy on me showering in the bathroom in some way. Eew.

Nico moved across the room to look out the window at the moving landscape. "You aren't a rule-breaker. Did you have any alcohol in your life?" He asked, facing me.

I was about to say no when I realized that wasn't the case.

I remembered then my mother, preparing me food when I was a toddler. Sometimes, she would drop some strange liquid into my plate with the food, and she would say, "It's to add flavor." Back then, I believed her and ate the food greedily. Now, I know that she was serving alcohol.

I had no idea why she did, but she was always drunk, and that was an answer I could accept. Maybe my mother must have wanted to serve alcohol in her food, and mixed it up with my food accidentally. Who knows?

So, the real answer to Nico's question is that I actually have drunk alcohol. But it was technically nonconsensual. So was it a yes-but-no?

Nico took my silence as a no, saying, "Jason, it's okay to break the rules from time to time. Hopefully not as much as me, but you can."

I mutely nodded my head, not looking at Nico.

He sat down next to me on the bed, holding my knee in a comforting way. "I can definitely shadow-travel all of you directly to Salt Lake City. But, that means all of you, including Octavian, will have to agree. We all know it won't happen."

"All of them will agree. Even Octavian wants the quest to be done with as soon as possible," I said determined.

Nico snorted at my response. "Well, believe what you want to believe. This is your job, not mine."

"I know there's another reason you came here. Spit it out," Nico prodded, looking at me.

I hesitated over my question, but decided to come completely forward. "Are you worried about Hazel? I mean, there's so much new stuff about her; I think we should be concerned."

Nico stayed silent for a second. "In my experience, when gods come to visit you, it doesn't go well. But, this time, the goddess in question gave Hazel her blessing, and cured her from the empousa's poison. It's nothing major to worry about."

"Okay, but what about the daughter of Fortuna, Felicity? It seems way too good to be true she told Hazel her casino would be a safe house." I was speaking the truth. Why would the casino suddenly be a safe house for her? It seems way too coincidental, to be honest.

"I'm suspicious of that too, Jason. Hazel is definitely hiding something. But remember, this is not a priority for us now. But once this quest is finished, I'm getting every ounce of information from both Hazel and Felicity."

I chuckled at his plan.

Nico got up, showing me the door. "Well, first convince the demigods to shadow-travel. Then, we'll see."

I smiled at him, knowing his words meant, I'll do it.

I opened the door and left the room, going towards my shared room with Reyna. I met Hazel along the way who was walking to her room, who shyly waved at me. I smiled at her back, thankful she didn't eavesdrop on our conversation.

Now, it was time to convince Reyna and Octavian for the short trip. Hopefully, Hazel would be on board already because she's a child of Pluto.

I opened the door and entered mine and Reyna's room. The girl in question stopped reading a book to look at me.

"Thank gods you're here, Jason." Reyna breathed a sigh of relief. "I need to talk to you about something."

I instantly became worried, since Reyna rarely talked to people about things. "What is it?"

"I'm worried about Hazel, to be honest. First she nearly dies, but then gets saved by a goddess and meets another demigod? And neither of them want her dead? It's a coincidence, right? Or should I be worried about it?"

While she was saying that, Reyna was pacing around the room. I knew that she took her job as praetor of the twelfth legion very seriously. This is something, if anything, she would be worried about.

I took some advice Nico gave me and gave it to Reyna. I put a hand on her shoulder, stopping her pacing. "Reyna, the goddess in question blessed Hazel with the Mist. Isn't that good? Now, you don't have to worry about her being the weakest link anymore. And Felicity? I think Hazel's hiding something about her. But don't worry, she'll tell us at the right time."

Reyna nodded slowly, as if she accepted my reasoning.

After a while, she shook her head, apologizing. "Sorry, Jason for that moment. I guess you're right. I'm just worried about her. Now, at least we have a safe house if there are any more quests."

I smiled and shook my head. "No need to apologize, Reyna. Everyone needs someone to lean into."

Reyna laughed lightly, denying my statement completely. "Don't mistake that for weakness. I was just asking a fellow praetor for advice on a legionnaire."

I cocked an eyebrow at her. "Whatever floats your boat, Reyna."

"Thanks for the reassurance Jason. I'll go read my book now, if that's okay?' She asked, getting back on the bed.

That was the cue to tell her my plan. "Nico can travel us all the way to Salt Lake City. Do you want to shadow-travel there?"

I closed my eyes and waited for her reaction, whether it be positive or negative.

After a brief moment of silence, I heard Reyna say, " If that's possible, yes! If this can speed up the speed of the quest, I'm all for it!"

I opened my eyes in shock to make sure Reyna wasn't playing a joke on me, and she wasn't. "Really?"

Reyna looked at me incredulously, and then started laughing. She laughed uncontrollably for a couple seconds before getting a hang of herself. "Jason, what's the worst thing that could happen from shadow-travelling?"

I waved my hands, listing off examples. "Well, we're probably not supposed to speed up this quest. You know, don't mess with quests or fate. Plus, maybe shadow-travelling is only a child of Pluto thing, and any others who do that die. Who knows?"

"If fate wanted us to not speed it up, they wouldn't have sent Nico here. You know that, right? And your fear of shadow-travelling is obviously your son of Jupiter's side showing. Nico won't let his father harm you, Jason. And he'll tell you if shadow-travelling can kill you."

Reyna clearly won the argument. "So, you're good with shadow-travelling?"

She smiled and put a hand on my shoulder. "Definitely. So, are we doing it now or what?"

"Now we have to convince Octavian to join. Then, we'll do it."

She raised an eyebrow, saying, "I'm going to come watch you try to convince him. Don't worry, I'll join when you're failing."

I rolled my eyes at her sarcasm, and we exited our room to go to the augur's room.

When we opened Octavian's door, we found him studying a torn-up teddy bear. I had no idea how he always had an unlimited supply of these, and I still don't want to know. Auguries always confuse me!

As he faced us, he sneered at me, but kept a neutral face towards Reyna. I didn't care about his disrespect, though.

"Praetors Jason and Reyna," Octavian boringly said. "The gods have contacted me and they say that Lady Trivia's help is a good omen. They say her help will aid us with our quest."

I sighed in relief. Gods were known to have gone rogue sometimes, and Trivia could have been one of them.

"That is good news, Octavian. We have come here for a different reason, though," Reyna said.

"Nico has agreed to shadow-travel us all the way to Salt Lake City. Will you join us?" I added.

Unsurprisingly but unfortunately, Octavian became disgusted. "You expect me to join that son of Hades?!" He said Hades disgustingly. "I am telling you, praetors, he will lead us straight to a massacre against the Graecus. He is slimy and always had his allegiance with them!"

I sighed, trying to convince Octavian to join us. "Did the gods actually tell you Nico's going to betray us?"

He pointed a finger at me, smirking. He continued trying (and failing) to convince us. "They didn't tell me that, but they didn't tell me he isn't going to betray us. Even the gods don't know his allegiance! This evidence should convince you, praetors."

Ugh, this was like arguing with a kindergartener! It was a lose-lose situation. Ugh, this is what happens when you've been given everything you want.

I looked at Reyna, who remained silent through the whole conversation. "Let's go, it isn't going to work." I told her.

Suddenly, Octavian grabbed a nearby rod to steady himself. I looked at Reyna in suspicion, but we didn't help him directly. If he was going to continuously keep scheming and being distrustful, he sure as Pluto didn't deserve our help. Or mine, at least. Everyone at Camp Jupiter knew Octavian liked Reyna much more than me, which wasn't saying much. He did not like anybody.

"You good there?" Reyna asked. His eyes were empty, but he still seemed in control, so he wasn't dead (sadly).

Octavian's eyes lost its empty look soon enough, and then he rubbed his forehead continuously and furiously. He stood back up from his hunched up position.

"Stupid headaches!" Octavian seethed.

I rolled my eyes at his explanation. Which headaches were that powerful and made you get eyes that are empty? I thought it was one of an augur's side effects which happened when you didn't pray to the gods enough. You know, stuff like that.

My gods. As I'm telling this to you, I really did need to know more about prophecies and auguries. You know, maybe I'll pick up a book on that at the University Library! That's a good plan.

Ugh, sorry for getting off track. Back to the story.

Octavian turned back on his earlier stance and said, "Fine, I'll join your little shadow-travel adventure."

I sighed in relief.

"But, only if the son of Hades swears on the Styx to not harm us. He can and will be very devious. Right, praetors?"

Those conditions didn't sound so bad, which was great.

"What's behind this change, Octavian?" Reyna asked. (I completely forgot to ask about his change of opinion. Oops.)

The augur in question shrugged and answered, "The gods told me to follow your plan, but that doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants when his way provides a shortcut! Shortcuts are rarely good in quests."

In hindsight, we really should have followed Octavian's advice and stayed on the train. Or not. The threat we were going to have to face later on would have confronted us either way. But, the shortcut we took was very scenic and beautiful. Darn it, I'm getting ahead of myself! You'll read what happens later. I promise.

He walked past us to the door. "Let's get done with this shadow-travel nonsense. Where do we go now?"

I said, "Right. Follow me."

I led the two out of the room all the way to Hazel's room, where the two children of Hades/Pluto should be.

I knocked on their door and opened it, without waiting for a response. Hazel and Nico both got up from the bed in defensive positions. They relaxed after they recognized the three of us.

"What are you doing here? We were just relaxing, by the way," Nico said in a sarcastic tone.

I ignored his passive jab and bluntly came forward. "We're ready to shadow-travel. Are you guys ready too?"

This really did shock Nico, while it made Hazel look at us confused. "We're shadow-travelling? Really?"

"Yeah," I hesitantly said. "Didn't Nico tell you the plan? He's supposed to shadow-travel us all the way to Salt Lake City."

Hazel looked at her brother with an Are you kidding? face.

That made him put his hands up defensively. "Well, I thought Octavian would never agree."

Nico then gasped, thinking of the worst. "Wait, did you coerce him? I didn't think that was in you, to be honest."

I could feel Octavian's glare to everyone in the room. "I'm still here. And, they did not coerce me. I just want this to be over and done with. Now, do we leave or what?" He said disbelievingly.

I shook my head at his straight-to-the-point, blunt attitude.

"Hazel, you're good with shadow-travelling, right?" Nico asked concerned.

"Nico, this isn't the first time I've shadow-travelled. Remember those other times? It's perfectly fine." Hazel replied, smiling.

This made me want to know what other times Nico and Hazel shadow-travelled, but I realized it's none of my business. As long as she's safe, we're good. Plus, they're siblings! What could go wrong?

"I know, I'm just concerned," he replied in a protective-brother way.

Then, Nico scanned all of us for a weird reason. "Okay, I can't shadow-travel five people at once; I'm not powerful enough to do so. But, Hazel can help me."

Nico turned to Hazel expectantly. She looked unsure for a second, whispering into Nico's ear something intelligible. Nico whispered back something back to Hazel. It must have been encouraging, since Hazel looked back at us, full of confidence.

Nico reassured her loud enough for us. "Just remember what I taught you. Be one with the shadows. Got it?" Hazel nodded in reply.

Nico clapped his hands, gesturing to us. "Great! So, let's all hold hands, then we'll shadow-travel us all the way to Salt Lake. Got it?"

I thought everything would go smoothly, until a snarky voice interrupted us. "Wait! Swear on the Styx to not harm us, Di Angelo."

The son of Hades, holding Hazel and Reyna's hand, looked at him confused.

Octavian repeated himself. "Swear on the Styx to not harm us on the shadow-travel. That's one of my conditions for this trip!"

Nico looked at me and Reyna and started laughing loudly. Hazel started softly laughing as well, most likely following her brother's actions.

Octavian, however, looked like he was going to blow a fuse. "How is that funny?" he screeched. "I don't want a traitorous Graecus killing us under the pretext of shadow-travelling!"

Hazel, who was usually shy and meek when I saw her, completely changed her demeanor. She stepped forward towards Octavian, pointing a finger at him. "My brother is not a traitor towards Camp Jupiter or New Rome. You know, just because he's the son of Hades doesn't mean he can't be a Roman too!" she angrily shot back.

Octavian sputtered, and looked at Reyna and I for help. "You must know that blood relations are a big part of Roman society. We can't ignore millenia of tradition for one exception! Especially when we're on a quest!"

(AN: This probably sounds confusing. Octavian means that you can't bend the rules when you are in an emotionally-controlled situation like a quest. Romans are after all known for their traditions and dedication in the books and in history.)

Octavian's point did make a lot of sense, so I planned to not take a side.

I didn't know how to diffuse the situation, but Nico luckily stepped in. "Fine fine. I swear on the Styx to not purposefully harm you four demigods while shadow-travelling. Happy?"

Thunder rumbled in the sky, even though I didn't see any large clouds outside. Maybe it was a side effect of the 'Styx' thing? I didn't know. At that moment, I was thinking that staying on the train and not shadow-travelling would have been the best option, because then nobody would have complained.

Unfortunately, Nico's swearing didn't appease Octavian. "Hey, you said not to purposefully harm us while shadow-travelling! What if the Graecus will be at the end of the destination or whatnot? There's too many loopholes in your oath."

I was getting pretty annoyed by this pushback by Octavian and really wanted to speed things up. Most demigods have ADHD, including me. It's a wonder I didn't explode yet!

Luckily, Reyna said what I wanted to convey. "Octavian, stop talking. Let's finish this shadow-travel so we can go to Salt Lake City."

Octavian sputtered, trying not to cross the line of disobeying his superiors. "Bu-But, you must know wha-what-"

I raised my hand, signaling for him to stop talking. "We're going to go there without complaints. Got it?" I asked sternly.

He reluctantly nodded, looking down.

Nico looked around at each of us, getting our silent approval.

"Okay, hold hands. Don't say anything until we arrive there," he said with a glare at Octavian.

"This might feel weird, but you won't die." We all held hands, with me holding Reyna's and Octavian's.

I was considering making Nico explain about his warning, but we suddenly tumbled into a pitch-black place.

I was contemplating the effects of shadow-travel and how it would personally affect me, a son of Jupiter. Haha, just kidding! I was too preoccupied with the thought of How did I get roped into this! (I chose to forget I was the one to convince everyone to shadow-travel.)

Okay, back to the shadow-travel experience. If it was a hotel, I would give it one star. That one star would be to actually provide us with lodging, or in this case, transportation. Yeah, you heard me. You might have heard that shadow-travel is very cool. It's not. I'll tell you why. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a son of Jupiter and him and Pluto don't get along.

Whatever. Number one: you feel like you want to throw up. The movement is so fast in there; your body can't catch up with it. The pizza I ate earlier wanted to exit my throat badly, but I held it in. I had a feeling that if you threw up, the vomit would come back and splash you in the face.

That brings us to number two: the surroundings are all black. Not the black that's on a crayon, but void-black. As in, there's nothing: no light, no living things, no sound. Maybe nothing itself didn't even exist there?

Number three: there's no sound. I mean literally. I couldn't hear anybody. I couldn't see them either, since light couldn't reflect onto them. I, and everybody, were probably screaming, but I couldn't hear it. I know I was screaming, since my mouth was open and air was coming out. But I couldn't even hear my scream!

Now from my basic knowledge of shadow-travel, children of Pluto used a realm of shadows that existed everywhere where there were shadows on Earth to transport themselves. The surrounding we were in was probably that shadow-realm, which Nico and Hazel must be guiding us through. (Which I was and am still thankful for, BTW.) Without them, I'm sure I would have gotten lost there and died a miserable death.

I feel that I haven't expressed the downsides of shadow-travel enough. I know you will find out soon enough all the negatives and hopefully change your mind, so I'll stop here. Plus, I'll get my ass beat if the others find out I wrote so many downsides about shadow-travel. Especially Nico and Hazel. Oof!

Salt Lake City, Utah

So, after what felt like an eternity but lasted only a couple seconds, we left this shadow-realm and arrived at a new place.

I could barely observe my surroundings before the pizza I ate earlier came tumbling up my throat. Yup, you guessed it; I threw up. It was green and splotchy, but the residue was quickly absorbed into the ground. It wasn't one of my brightest moments, but what could you expect? I shadow-travelled, for gods' sake.

I took a moment to look at my surroundings. There were tall skyscrapers and old-fashioned buildings from where I could see. Granted, there were less skyscrapers and they were smaller than the ones in San Francisco, but it still counts. The area was super green (not vomit-green) and mountains decorated the landscape. It looked beautiful and like an ideal place for a vacation.

We didn't arrive next to a bunch of mortals. In fact, it looked like this was a trail for some mountain. There was a group of four, a family I think, who waved at us before continuing their hike. You know, that was super nice from them!

Next, I looked at a nearby trail sign, which said we were at the Yellow Fork Canyon Trail.

I almost forgot about the others and turned around to see them. I sighed in relief, since none of them died or lost a limb. Nico was hovering over Hazel, making sure she was fine. The daughter of Pluto looked exasperated, so I suspected this wasn't the first time this happened.

Octavian was standing up, wiping wood chips off his clothes. His outfit looked a bit muddy. (I didn't feel sorry for him at all.)

I finally looked at Reyna, who was actually looking at me concernedly. When I caught her gaze, she ran towards me and hugged. This caught me by shock, but I soon hugged her back, embracing her smell of lavender. I don't know why she smelled like that, and I did not care. All I cared about was that Reyna didn't die and she was safe.

"I thought you died. I couldn't see anything in the shadow-realm," I whispered into Reyna's ear.

She nodded seriously, hugging me tightly. "Me too. I'm glad you're alive Jason." We let go of each other, but still held hands.

I looked back at the others. Nico was holding hands with Hazel, both smiling. Octavian looked grouchy as usual.

Nico looked at the ground near my feet, where it was darker with my puke. "Oh yeah. The next time you shadow-travel will always be better."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him. "There won't be a next time, Nico. This was the worst."

Nico ignored my negative comment and asked, "Where are we, by the way? This does not look like a city at all."

Reyna, apparently, also noticed the trail sign. "The sign said we're at the Yellow Fork Canyon. One of you knows where it is, right?" She asked, probably concerned we're lost. Now, if we were lost, we could have just asked the family of four who passed us where we were.

"Thanks," Nico replied, pulling out a black phone.

"Hey hey! Phones attract monsters!" Octavian warned him, lifting his hand. I echoed Octavian's concerns. I didn't want to face as many monsters we faced in Reno. I was scared half to death when Hazel collapsed from the empousa!

"Relax, it's in airplane mode. See?" Nico showed his phone to all of us, and he was right.

"If you put phones on airplane mode, monsters won't come?" I asked confusedly. This was completely new to me.

(AN: I feel demigods have to use technology at least once. Maybe a demigod even invented phones!)

In the Wolf House and in Camp Jupiter, everyone warned me, Phones attract monsters! Using it here is bad enough, but using them in the mortal world is a death sentence. Only the important figures like the senators have phones. You know, advice like that.

"Yeah," Nico answered, a bit lost. "How would they find your location then? They would have to cherry-pick anyone who had a phone and see if they're a demigod. Right, Hazel?" The daughter of Pluto, who looked a bit lost in the conversation, just nodded absentmindedly.

I nodded at his response. My face must have looked impassive, but I was jumping in excitement inside. I could use phones! Even though it had to be on airplane mode, you could at least do something with them. (I was right. So much great stuff can be used with airplane mode on!)

Nico scanned the phone, suddenly raising his eyebrows. "Oh well, that is shit. I shadow-travelled us about 30 miles away from the train station. So sorry guys." He genuinely did sound sorry, which was an uncommon sight.

"Let me see. I can still see skyscrapers close by." Reyna demanded. Nico followed her demands and gave the phone to her. I looked at the map with her and confirmed we were a long distance away from the city. How did we even get that far away?

Once we gave the phone back to Nico, Octavian demanded to be shown the map too. Like us, he didn't have a phone and probably fell for the no-phone scam in New Rome. The son of Hades rolled his eyes but showed the map to the augur, who grunted in acknowledgement.

"How did we get this far away from Salt Lake City?" Hazel asked. "When Nico and I shadow-traveled together, we always got within two miles of the destination." So this was the first time the result of his shadow-travelling was way off course.

Nico looked at Hazel and shook his head. "This is the first time I've shadow-traveled more than 3 people, including myself. And even though you helped me, it took a lot of effort."

Hazel nodded, not offended Nico's mention of her lack of shadow-travel experience. I wish some people in the legion were like that, willing to admit that they aren't perfect.

"The first time I shadow-travelled, I landed straight in China! I couldn't even understand any of the locals there! That's a whole mess I'm not even going to dive into." Nico laughed, shaking his head fondly.

His statements kind of made me jealous, since I never got anything exciting unless it was approved by the legion. But, at least I have some achievements, like my vanquishing of Krios at the Battle of Othrys!

"So, what should we do now?" Hazel asked, getting us back on the track of the quest.

"Let's go to the train station, obviously. We don't want to delay the quest any longer," Octavian stated.

"Hold up. The shadow-travel saved us a lot of time from schedule. We can wait for a couple hours. Let's go sightsee the mountains a little bit," Reyna rebutted.

I agreed with Reyna, since sightseeing was literally a foreign concept in demigod language. Only the best even got to go on quests, and most of them weren't given the chance for extra time to look around! (Monsters always ruin the fun of travel!)

Octavian glared harshly back at Reyna. "What purpose would that serve? Quests are not an excuse to go travel and 'sightsee'," he said with air quotes.

Reyna glared back at him with an equally impressive expression. "This is a chance to expand our horizons and analyze the environment outside New Rome and Camp Jupiter."

That was a pretty poor argument, if I'm being honest, but that type would only work against a staunch traditionalist like Octavian. Now, the augur and Reyna were caught in a glaring contest, and I was afraid a full-blown fight was going to break out.

I stepped in between them with my arms out. "Guys guys, calm down," I said looking at each of them.

Hazel, who was quiet during this whole time, proposed an alternative. "How about we put it to a vote? That's how it's done in Camp and in New Rome."

Nico smiled at her proudly. Octavian huffed at that, knowing he wouldn't win. "Fine fine. We can go sightseeing," he conceded dejected. The augur turned around, walking through the grass.

Finally, I thought. He always delayed anything that he didn't like, and unfortunately, he can do that! Octavian is the third most powerful person in Camp. I mean, if you delay proceedings at Camp, don't do it in quests. Nobody needs to listen to pointless arguments outside in a time-limited situation. Right?

"Great!" I shouted, smiling. "Let's go on this trail here."

I pointed towards a two foot wide dirt footpath that led to someplace hidden by trees. Hopefully, the end would show us a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and the city skyscrapers. (AKA the complete opposite of the future.)

I walked forward on the footpath, not looking back to see if the others followed. I heard some footsteps behind me, so I knew they followed me. I smiled, knowing all four of them would make the right decision. I walked past the trees mentioned earlier and stepped out into the hidden world of the Yellow Fork Canyon.

And Oh was it beautiful! I loved it completely!

Here is your Eleventh Chapter! I know this is a super slow chapter, but I feel I need to include Jason's strict personality into the story. Next chapter will probably be much faster!

I did plan to extend the chapter, but then realized it's pretty long already. So here's your longest chapter to date!

I know this chapter has almost no action, but I felt I needed to include how the Romans are reacting to Hazel's adventure in Chapter 8 and 9. They don't know the details of who Felicity is, but they trust Hazel and will wait for when she is ready.

Summary: Jason proposes to shadow-travel to Salt Lake City with Nico's help. He talks to Reyna and Nico about Hazel and convinces them to shadow-travel. After some pushback from Octavian, they arrive at the Yellow Fork Canyon. They decide to sightsee a bit there before going on the next train.

I know I may have gotten some points about airplane mode wrong, and I don't care. In this demigod world, airplane mode with its limited uses does not attract monsters. Since the signal from the phone attracts them, how would they find demigods?

I tried to point out why Jason hates shadow-travelling since he is the son of Jupiter and the two gods don't get along well. I figured Hey, if there is a rivalry from the Greek Gods, I'll put it in the Roman Gods! I may have exaggerated a little bit Jason's 'symptoms'.

Comment any mistakes or misconceptions I have about the Zephyr and Amtrak trains.

I find it pretty ironic that the Romans are travelling on a Zephyr train, which is derived from the Greek god Zephyros. They are travelling the direction the Zephyr wind blows, which was historically a gentle and peaceful wind. Try to piece the dots together, readers.

Questions: Will Jason get his peaceful sightseeing experience? What will happen when the enemy will confront them? Will the Romans regret going sightseeing? What new characters or gods are we going to meet in the next chapter?

Have a great day and let's all Mystify!
