The Alien Hero
Chapter Seven
Reservations
xXx
"Hello Izuku. It's been a while, eh?"
Izuku Midoriya stared in shock at the man before him. The small apartment he and his mom lived in was trashed, due to Izuku's abrupt entry as a Vulpimancer. Hisashi Midoriya waited patiently for his son to respond.
His son, whom he hadn't seen in 10 years. Ever since the diagnosis in fact.
Izuku didn't shake. He didn't cry or even move. He barely blinked, standing in between his two parents. His eyes hardened, taking in every detail about his father.
"Son…it's me. Your dad." Hisashi said kindly. "Don't you remem-"
"I know who you are." Izuku said plainly. His voice, usually cherry or nervous, was almost always full of life and emotion. But at that moment, his lowered voice was cold. Colder than Kylmyys in winter. "Thought you were overseas."
"I…was." Hisashi lied. "But I'm back."
"So?" Izuku said sharply, narrowing his eyes. "What changed, exactly?"
"Long story. It's quite the tale, believe it or not." His father said casually, trying to deescalate the stand off. "I heard you had gotten your quirk. You're pretty strong." He smiled, remembering how much Izuku loved quirks and heroes. "And you're at UA! I'm so proud of you."
"Save it." Izuku snapped, tears finally itching from his eyes. "Yeah, I have a quirk now. I have power now. Big deal!" He jabbed his finger at his father. "YOU left! You left when I lost any chance of being a hero! When I needed you most!"
"I know, and I'm sorry. My work needed me in Ameri-"
"NO! No they DIDN'T!" He yelled. "They needed you away from your home do what? Confidential, you said! You could've stayed! I needed you! WE needed you! What was so important that you were gone for 10 years?!"
"I…I know. Please just listen." Hisashi pleaded. But Izuku wasn't done.
"And now you're magically back because this," he jerked up his Omnitrix-arm, the green light flickering with power. "-appeared on my arm and gave me powers? Guess I'm not a disappointment now, huh?"
"Izu, no!" His father denied. He saw how his earlier statement sounded now. "That's not what I meant!"
"No?" His son snarled. "Then why did you really leave?"
Hisashi grit his teeth. He eyed the device, which was very much glued to his son's wrist. No chance he'd get the tech off without him noticing.
"Izu…" Inko said sadly, standing up behind her son. She hugged him from behind. "I know this is scary, I'm surprised too, but…"
"But what!?" He jerked away from his mom's grip, feeling a slight pang of guilt from the action. "He can't just drop in after so long! He left us! He left you!"
"I know that…and I expect a thorough explanation." Her eyes flitted up to her husband in anger. "But we should hear him out. Please, Izuku."
The boy glared back at the man. This…stranger. He wasn't his father. He lost the right.
Yet here he was. Like he never left. Like he cared.
Suddenly he was 5 years old again, asking Inko where dad was. Only getting sobs in return. Then he was 7, crying his own eyes out, wondering why everyone else had two parents, but not him. Wondering what Kacchan did to deserve a dad. Dads are only for kids with quirks. And Izuku didn't qualify.
And now that he had power, things were different?
"No." Izuku muttered. "Just…no." He marched to the door, which was still hanging open from his entry.
"Izuku, wait!" Inko called. "Please, just-"
But the boy was already out the door. He jogged down the stairs, wiping the thick tears from his face. But Hisashi had other ideas.
"Izuku, stop!" He called down, jumping down the stairs after him. Midoriya saw him and broke into a run, jumping from the 2nd floor stairs to the ground below. He rolled with the fall and ran off.
"IZUKU! Get back here!" Hisashi yelled out. He jumped off the balcony in a similar fashion and took off after his son, closing the gap with practiced ease. "Kid! Come back!"
Izuku noticed him gaining as they ran down the sidewalk. He juked right, sprinting down an alley and taking as many twists and turns as he needed to lose his father. Hisashi lost sight of him, so he quickly pulled up the tracker program on his watch. He was still nearby, getting further away.
"Damn it!" He cursed, running through the alleys. He tracked the dot as best as he could, navigating the complex system of walls and buildings as quickly as possible. Eventually the dot stopped moving, allowing Hisashi to catch up.
"Kid! Izuku!" he called out. He strode through the cramped alley, dumpsters and trash aplenty. "I know you're here! Let's talk!" He opened a few dumpsters, checking for any sign of him.
He followed the tracker, ending up right under the dot on the screen. He should be right here! The plumber looked down.
Right at the loose manhole. A green light flashed from under the cover, with the dot zipping away.
"You got to be kidding."
xXx
Ripjaws really, really hoped the water he was in was just storm drainage and not…other stuff. Like a torpedo, he shot through the flowing water underground, zipping this way and that. He didn't know where he was going, but anywhere but there was just fine with him.
Thankfully, it was just a storm drain, if the water deposit he found himself in was any indication. His angler lure glowed, illuminating the dank area. He found more paths and exits with ease, navigating the systems of tunnels to the city. With a shiver, he recalled the smile incident, and how that villain also used the sewers to get around. He shook his toothy head. No point getting wrapped around the past. He had to find a way out, but far enough away from home so he couldn't be found.
If Ripjaws was capable of crying, he would be. All the pain and suffering his dad caused…it was all bubbling back to the surface. Stuff he had tried to forget over the years. It made him sick!
Eventually, he sensed cool air flowing over the surface of the water. He raised his head up, his angler revealing his surroundings.
"Right, think I lost him." Midoriya croaked. He spotted light above him. He was under a street drain, with neon lights flashing through the night. He sprang up, looking through the vent.
Turned out, he ended up in a crowded shopping district! He started to climb out…
"EYYAAAAA! MONSTER!" A girl shrieked. Ripjaws let go, ducking back under cover. 'Right,' He thought. 'Forgot. I look like a sea monster.' He dived, moving on to another opening. After some searching, he poked out of the street curb. Fairly deserted. With a grunt, he managed to squirm out of the drain, his long tail reforming into scaly legs.
He wasn't far from the district. He got a bit closer, reaching up to change back.
"I told you to leave us alone!"
He jerked his head towards the voice. A very familiar voice! He stuck his way through the alley. Hiding in the dark, he spotted the source.
"C'mon baby, don't be like that!" A man in a hoodie said sleazily. "I just like what I see, s'all."
Ashido glared back, putting herself in front of her friends, two girls Izuku didn't know. "LOOK, we're like half your age! Back off!"
"Age ain't nothing back a number, sweetheart." The guy licked his lips. Ashido sneered in disgust. "C'mon, guys. Let's go." She turned to leave.
"Hang on." The guy's arm stretched out, reaching at least seven feet to grab her arm. "We ain't done talking."
"Get OFF!" She shouted. The guy pulled himself forward, getting closer. His grip was like a vice.
"I wasn't done…talking to…ya?" The man said in confusion. A shadow creeped over him, and Mina wasn't looking at him anymore. Rather, right over his head!
He turned to look.
"Sup?" Ripjaws asked casually. He unhinged his jaw with a gurgle, giving the dirtbag a face full of otherworldly teeth. Saliva dripped down, getting on the guy's face.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIEEEE!" He screamed in terror! "FREAK! GET AWAY, AAAAAAAAA!"
'Freak? That's rude." Ripjaws commented as the guy sprinted off. He wasn't the only one.
"WHAAAA! THAT'S THE FISHMAN I SAW EARLIER!" Ashido's friend shrieked. "RUN RUN RUN!"
"Wait! It's not a monster!" Ashido yelled after them, but they were long gone. He turned back to the alien. "Midoriya? That is you, right?"
"Uh, yeah. Sorry, I didn't mean-"
"No no! Don't apologize!" She waved her hands. "I don't know what would've happened without you!"
Ripjaws put his fists on his hips, puffing his chest proudly. "Well, you know. It's what a hero-"
Beep bop bow boooo…..
FLASH!
"-does. Dang it." Izuku finished, changing back to human. He suddenly felt very weird, holding himself like he was. He grabbed his arm nervously. "So…whatchu doing here?"
"Oh, I come here all the time!" Ashido grinned toothily. "My friends and I from Middle School practically lived here. Don't know where they are now…" she looked around curiously. Then her phone rang. "Mind if I grab this?"
"Oh! Go ahead!" Midoriya answered, feeling his own phone buzz. As Ashido strode off, Izuku checked his phone. 20 texts and 9 missed calls from Mom. He winced, redialing.
…
"...Izuku?"
"Hey Mom," He answered. "Sorry I ran off."
"Are you safe? Where are you right now?"
"I'm fine! I'm with a friend." He assured her. "I'm somewhere in town. Kinda went for a swim."
"I heard. Honey, you can't just run off like that! I had no idea whether or not you were safe! And the sewers? You're taking a shower as soon as you come back!"
"I know…I'm sorry." Izuku hung his head. "Mom…I can't…" He steeled his breath. "I don't think I can be in the same house as him right now."
"I understand. And agree." Inko told him. "We talked for a while, and decided it would be best for him to find his own place for a while. He won't be living here."
Midoriya let out a breath he was holding. "Thanks mom. You have no idea how much that means to me."
"You'd be surprised. I almost called Toshinori, you know."
"Listen…is it OK if I hang out a while longer? I'm safe, and I can XLR8 home whenever."
"That's fine honey. Be careful. See you later tonight. By 9, ok?"
"Got it. Love you."
"Love you too, sweetie."
Click!
He put his phone away, breathing deeply. At least Mom felt the same way he did.
"Everything ok?"
"Wha? Oh! Um," Midoriya stammered. Ashido had appeared behind him! "Yeah! Everything's…"
She blinked curiously. And…a bit concerned?
"It'll be ok." He landed on. "It's not right now, but I'd rather not get into it."
"Oh, alright!" She quickly accepted. "Anyway, my posse went home. Something about researching mutant crocodiles."
"Ah…sorry again."
She sighed. "It's fine, it really is." She looked back sadly. "Ever since I got into UA, they've been, I don't know, distant? It's weird."
"Hmm." He couldn't say he understood, but he at least sympathized. "You wanna…well, I mean…"
She looked back at him. Then took on a sly look.
"What I mean to say is, would you like to…well, heh, I,"
"Food court?"
"Eh?" She pointed down the road.
"There's a food court down that way. Care to join me?" Her smile seemed to sparkle, a Cheshire grin that could light up the night.
Midoriya grinned back. "Yeah. Definitely."
She grabbed his hand, leading him forward. "C'mon then! I know an a-MAZing sushi place! You'll love it, Midori!"
"O-ok!" Izuku stumbled at first, but kept pace with Mina as they ran.
xXx
Hisashi paced around the small living room in angst. His visit home was a complete disaster. Not even Nosedenians ever gave him so much trouble. He busied himself with fixing the destroyed room, returning it to its original state.
Inko relayed his son's message, letting them know he was safe and sound. He knew that already of course, with Vonaq running surveillance in that very district.
But ultimately, he failed. He failed the moment he just showed up on Inko's doorstep. He failed the moment Izuku saw him.
But most importantly, failed when he left the way he did in the first place. He left to protect them, but he honestly didn't expect to see his family again.
He also definitely wasn't talking to the same 5-year-old boy he left behind. That boy was gone, replaced by a fierce, emotional young man. He shouldn't have tried to pick up right where they left off like that.
He may be one of the most skilled, respected and feared plumbers in the galaxy. Yet, it was fatherhood that humbled him the most.
"You're going to wear out the carpet at this rate." Inko leaned up against the doorframe, two mugs of tea in her hands. He sighed, sitting down on the sofa.
"Sorry." He said softly. "I just…I'm worried about him."
"That's sweet," Inko said as she sat down. She handed him a steaming mug. "But, he worried about you. When you left, it was all he could think about. Then one day…he just stopped."
"Like I said in my letter," Hisashi insisted. "It was to keep you both safe. The work I'm doing was too dangerous. I couldn't risk you two…" He trailed off, thinking about Vilgax. Their last encounter.
"The truth is…the threat passed." He said. "And now I want to make amends. With you and Izu."
This was all true, he told himself. Even if he left some details out.
"And I suppose we can't know what was so dangerous?" Inko asked, anger lacing her tone. "All you said was that it was government work. If you're some kind of spy, that's something I think your wife might want to know about!"
He furrowed his brow. Then, he hung his head. "You're right Inko. I…I shouldn't have left the way I did."
"You shouldn't have left at all!" Inko snapped. "Izuku was in pieces and you left me to put him back together again! Alone!"
"I know." He sighed. "Please Inko…how can I fix this?"
"You may not be able to." Inko said honestly. "You and I are one thing. But Izuku was 5 when you left, without so much of a warning. He needs time, Hisashi. You need to give him time to process and think about it."
Hisashi nodded. "Alright. What should I do? What can I do?"
"Just do what he needed in the first place." Inko said like it was obvious. "Be there. Even if you don't live here, make yourself available to him. When he's ready, he'll let you know."
"...alright." He kneaded his hands. "I'll try. For him and you."
Inko nodded in approval. Thru sat in relative silence, sipping their tea.
"How's your throat?" Inko asked. "Does the tea help?"
"Always did. I missed it" Hisashi smiled. The only side-effect of his quirk was fits of coughing from the natural smoke. Warm tea helps. Especially the way Inko makes it. "Maybe…I can come over for tea tomorrow?"
Inko seemed to consider. "...I'd like that."

"And then!" Mina said through laughing. "Then I realized that the monkey thought I was a fruit or something!"
"That's crazy!" Izuku laughed back, his mouth full of dragon roll. "They wanted to eat you?"
"Yep! Remember that zoo like it was yesterday!" Mina giggled. "That's when I first used my quirk, that day!" She pooled just a bit of acid in her palm. "Wanna touch it?"
Unlike most, Izuku immediately dipped a finger in the acid. Most people hesitated. He let it sting, wincing a bit at the sensation.
"Stings a bit, but it's not bad." Izuku analyzed. "I imagine the monkey wasn't pleased!"
"Neither was the manager." Ashido popped a sushi in her mouth. "Never went 'ack, but tha's ok!"
"That's amazing!" Izuku gushed. "And the applications are nearly endless! Defense, mobility, offense, you could do it all!"
"Says you!" Mina teased. "You literally have every power!"
"Well, not every power…" Midoriya said. They had been talking and laughing for at least an hour, not moving at all from their spots at the bar.
"So, how'd you discover your quirk?" She asked. "Did you always have so many forms?"
"Not exactly…" He dropped sweat. He hesitated, not sure if it was time to spill the beans.
"What do you mean?"
Still, better to get it out of the way. "I'm a bit of a late bloomer."
"Oh! How late?" She asked innocently. He shifted uncomfortably.
"Last year?" He said with a nervous smile. "Less really."
She stared. "Last…you got your quirk 10 years late?"
He shrugged, unsure how else to explain it. Sure it wasn't a quirk at all, but he still had no idea how he found the Omnitrix.
Ashido was floored. "But…that doesn't make sense! You're so powerful! Didn't you have to…I guess, learn?"
"Oh yeah, it was a bit of a curve." He admitted. "But I was ready by the entrance exam."
"That's incredible!" She pressed her hands to her head. "So you…" her excitement faded some. "You spent middle school quirkless. Right?"
Midoriya looked away. "Y-yeah." He didn't want her to see his face. He braced himself, getting ready for the ridicule. Surely she'd leave, tell everyone how useless Midoriya was a quirkless.
Instead, a soft hand touched his arm.
"Midori," Mina said with empathy. "I'm sorry. I didn't know. It must have been hard."
Now it was his turn to be surprised. "You…you're not, I dunno…"
"Shocked? It did surprise me, I'll admit." She answered honestly. "I guess I wished I had known sooner, but I understand. It's really personal."
"Yeah. So…you're not mad?" Izuku asked nervously.
"Oh," she grinned evilly. "I'm furious, Midoriya!" She waved her arms in mock-betrayal. "How could you keep something personal to yourself! And be born with something you can't control! The audacity!"
They broke into laughter, the infectious kind that just won't stop. They were this close to being kicked out for the noise.
And for once, Midoriya didn't seem to care.
"Thanks, Ashido. Heh, I really needed to hear that."
"Call me Mina." Mina insisted. "Seriously, it's ok."
"M-Mi…Mina-san?"
"LOL, close enough. Anyway, what's the story?" She asked. "Did the watch just pop out of you or something? What's the deal?"
"I'm not actually sure," Midoriya answered honestly. "I was attacked by a villain at the time. It was the Slime Villain, do you remember?"
"Slime Villain…oh! The one that attacked a kid! That was you?"
"Yes and no," Midoriya explained. "Long story short, the Slime Villain attacked me first out of nowhere. I was completely helpless, couldn't breathe or anything. Then out of the blue, I burst into flames!"
"Heatblast!" She smacked the table in recognition. "You turned into Heatblast right?"
"Right!" He confirmed. "I don't know how it happened. It was like my quirk…knew exactly what transformation I needed to survive."
"Wow…that must have been scary." Ashido said, putting her chin in her hands. "You said someone else was attacked?"
"Yeah it was…" Midoriya stopped. "...some other kid. Didn't know who. Tried to help save him, but I honestly just got in the way."
"Well, I'm sure he's thankful! Whoever he is!"
"Heh, yeah." Midoriya laughed. Not terribly likely.
They finally left, having spent way too much on sushi. Hence, they couldn't really afford any other activities.
"Man…blew the month!" Mina groaned. "Better call dad, let him know I need a ride…"
Midoriya looked at her thoughtfully. Then spun the dial.
FLASH!
Mina shielded her eyes from the sudden green flash. When she looked up, a blue alien replaced her friend!
"Alternatively," XLR8 offered. "You could get the fastest ride home ever. What do you say?"
Her eyes lit up in excitement. "YES!" She hopped onto XLR8's back, who buckled a bit from the tackle.
"Actually," He said. "Might be better if I just carried you."
"Ooh, so forward Midori!"
"Please don't say that."
She laughed uproariously, letting herself be picked up bridal style. XLR8's helmet closed.
"Hold tight!"
ZOOOOOOOOOOM!
Mina held herself close to the reptilian alien as the world spun around her. She tried to open her eyes, but the wind was so intense! She looked down, watching the road shift from grass to concrete to wall to roof to wall then concrete again.
Midoriya had actually toned his speed down so as to not hurt his classmate. With her directions, they ended up at her house in mere minutes.
"Thanks for the lift, Midori! It was seriously the most amazing thing EVER!" Ashido yelled, her curly hair all over the place.
"Isn't it?" XLR8 agreed. He put her down. "I better head back before I time out."
"Oh, hold on!" She stepped up to him. "Helmet down please!"
He cocked his head curious, the face mask sliding away. In almost slow motion, Izuku saw the small kiss coming, landing on his cheek.
Despite seeing it coming, he made no move to stop it.
She giggled at his face. Even through an alien form, Midoriya was still Midoriya. "See you tomorrow!"
The mask slid down again as he waved a claw. Then with a blur, he was gone again.
It may have seemed quick, but from his own hypercognition, he was struck speechless for several minutes. Even as he arrived home, flashed to normal, hugged his mom, and crashed into bed, he was completely struck stupid.
He could even feel the kiss, still on his cheek.
Best sleep he's had in years.
xXx
When he woke up, it was like he never dropped Mina off. He floated out of his room, sure that nothing could ruin his day.
Then he got to the table. He didn't see Hisashi, just a note. For Izuku.
His mouth was set in a line as he picked up the letter. What was it with his father and notes?
Izuku,
I'm sorry. I'm sorry I haven't been up front with you and I'm sorry I tried to rush things.
I'd like to talk things over when you're comfortable, about why I left. I know you're mad, and you have every right to be.
Nevertheless, I'm here when you need me. My number is attached. No need to respond right away, take all the time you need.
Yours,
-Hisashi
Izuku took a moment to reread the letter before setting it down. He was still pissed. No, more furious than he's ever been. But there were no absolutes. No requirements or broken boundaries. Just whenever he's ready.
"He does expect me to reply though," he muttered. "Eventually anyway." He looked at the clock. 5:36 in the morning.
"G'morning Izuku." His mom yawned as she entered. Midoriya busied himself with the coffee maker, starting it for Inko.
"Think I'll go for a run."
"Ok sweetie…" Inko answered. "Did you read the note on the table?"
Midoriya froze in the doorway. "...yeah. I did."
"Ok. Just wanted to be sure you got it. Enjoy your run." She said as she started breakfast.
"Thanks." He re-entered his room. Then poked his head out.
"I'll try and text him," he called out. "I don't know when yet. No promises."
"That's alright. Take all the time you need." Inko replied kindly. "I know I am."
xXx
As Midoriya got off the bus that morning, he was lucky he was actually looking up instead of writing notes.
"What is that?" He peered out to UA's main gate. A crowd of people were flocked around the area. He got a bit closer…
"Is that…Uraraka?" He wondered out loud. They were reporters! And they seemed to have picked the gravity girl for their impromptu interview!
"How is it with All Might teaching at UA! Do you feel inspired!?" One female reporter demanded, shoving a mic in the girl's face.
"I mean…I guess?" Uraraka dropped sweat. "He's really muscly! And uh…teaches heroics!"
"The Heroics Course, that would make sense!" The reporter continued, hoping for a better sound bite. "But please, tell me how inspired you feel!"
"I…uh, I need to get to class." Uraraka tried to leave, but they were all around! "Please, I'd like to go inside now."
"C'mon miss! Throw us a bone here!" She demanded. Other reporters were also persistent. Uraraka considered using her quirk to escape, but that was against the law.
Luckily, she didn't have to.
"Listen, I just want to-" she started. But in the blink of an eye, she vanished!
"WHAT?" The reporter yelled. "Did she use her quirk!?"
"Doesn't matter, she's long gone." An older reporter sighed. "We'll get the next one."
A bit above them, Uraraka floated invisibly above the small crowd. But not by her own power.
"Sorry about the grab," Ghostfreak whispered, uncovering Ochaco's mouth. "Figured you were done speaking to them."
She got over her fright quickly enough. "Thanks, Deku. I owe you!" Uraraka whispered back. The ghost flinched.
"What's wrong?" she asked. Did something hurt him?
"My name's not really Deku." He explained. He floated them through the UA wall, undetected. "That's just what Kacchan calls me to make fun of me."
"Oh! Sorry, I didn't realize!" Urarala apologized. Ghostfreak phased them back, now that they were on school grounds.
"Still, I kinda like it! Sounds like 'you can do it', you know?" She pumped a fist.
"Never quite heard it that way." Ghostfreak shrugged. "Anyway, I'll see if anyone else is being held up. We don't want to be late."
"Right! See you later!" Uraraka waved as she jogged off. MIdoriya went incorporeal again and returned to the scene outside the gate.
At least 7 other classmates from 1A were being badgered by the press. Including Bakugo.
Ghostfreak's purple eye glared. While he wasn't going to directly do anything to the press, he was gonna have a bit of fun.
Even Mina was caught up in the chaos. "Please move! We're going to be late!"
"Yeah! Make a hole!" Rikido Sato yelled.
"Please wait! Just 10 seconds of your time!"
"Get lost, rejects!"
"How about a quote!
Mina was about to retort, when she promptly vanished!
"AAH! It happened again!" They raged. Kirishima looked around frantically. Where did she go!
Then he vanished too!
"What's going on!?" The reporter from before shouted. "The UA students are being kidnapped! Get this on film, quick!"
"Kidnapped?" Sato asked. "What do you-"
Vanished.
Ojiro walked up. "What are all these people doing he-"
Vanished.
"WILL YOU DUMBFUCKS JUST-" Bakugo screamed.
Vanished.
As chaos ensued, a pair of red eyes watched the press freak out and eventually be asked to leave by Eraserhead, who assured them all their students were accounted for. One tried to cross the barrier, but the security gates closed like a snaptrap, shutting out all unauthorized visitors to the school.
"All this for All Might." A voice crackled. "What a load."
On the other side of the gate, Aizawa glared at the students, who had been laughing at the press just seconds before. He had been walking past when he saw each of his students appear out of thin air on the other side of the wall while the press clamored on the other side.
"Who was it?" he demanded.
"Heh, real funny story, Sensei…" Kaminari wheezed. Red, glowing eyes made them all go ramrod straight.
"Where. Is. Midoriya."
xXx
"Hahahahaha…they never saw it coming! I can't believe I did that!" Ghostfreak chuckled. He phased through the classrooms, taking several shortcuts to homeroom to be on time. "And Bakugo's face, I'll never see that again!"
He floated, completely undetected through the teacher's lounge. Present Mic and Midnight were comparing lesson plans and Pro Hero Ectoplasm was making a cup of coffee. He reached with a gloved hand to grab the mug.
Then it slid 6 inches to the left, away from his grasp.
The hero stared, blinking the sleep away. Did that just happen? He tried to grab it again.
Then it moved out of the way again!
He turned to the duo behind him. "Mic." He rumbled, gathering their attention. "Are you back on your pranking streak again?"
"Huah?" Hizashi gasped. "Nu-uh! You know what Nezu said if I did that again?"
"I don't know," Midnight purred. "You are persistent."
"It wasn't me! Whatever it was…"
Ectoplasm turned back to his coffee, but it was gone! He whirled around, spotting the mug on a table. 15 feet away. He had been watching Mic the entire time.
"..." He turned back to the others. "It appears we have a telekinetic prankster on our hands."
"Ha! See? Wasn't me!"
"You would hire someone." Midnight suggested. "A student perhaps."
"Maybe, but I think we-" he stopped, staring to the other side of the room. Mic and Midnight stared too.
"No. Way." Present Mic whispered. Hound Dog was sitting peacefully on the lounge sofa, reading his favorite romantic novel.
And the couch was several feet in the air! And the hero didn't even notice!
"Mic." Ectoplasm said as quietly as he could. "Call the student off."
"I can't!" Hizashi wheezed out, doubling over with laughter. "I have nothing…to do with this!"
"Then why are you laughing!?" Midnight hissed.
"Because it's way too funny! Pffff!"
And then, to their utter disbelief, the couch rotated, as slow as it needed to to not garner the attention of the canine hero. It turned a perfect 180 degrees before setting back down, light as a feather.
Hound Dog's head shot straight up, his whiskers twitching. He growled slightly, then returned to his novel.
"Whaaaaaaaaat?" Both Midnight and Present Mic wheezed in silent laughter. Ectoplasm was unperturbed.
Then a red light blared in the hallway!
THUD!
All three teachers rushed out of the lounge, spotting Midoriya on the floor! He timed out mid-flight.
"Uh…hi?" He squeaked nervously. Then up ahead, they saw it. The shadow of doom.
Eraserhead had a dark aura as he turned the corner, intent on finding his latest problem child. He was the only one in the entire building capable of pulling off such a stunt. He approached the teacher's lounge, spotting three or four Ectoplasms looking around the floor.
"HEY BUDDY!" Present Mic slid up to him faster than light. "Long time, no see, what's shakin' bacon?"
"Mic, not in the mood." Aizawa growled. "I'm looking for Midoriya. Have you seen him?"
"Midoriya?" Hizashi said innocently. "Midoriya…Midoriya…who was that again?"
"You know perfectly well who. Where is he?"
"I don't know, haven't seen him. Who was he again?" Present Mic played dumb. Eraserhead saw right through the ruse.
"Ectoplasm, have you seen Midoriya?" he called down the hall.
"The true question is," one Ectoplasm started. "Have you seen my pocket watch?" Another one finished.
"Your pocket watch?" Aizawa deadpanned.
"Yes, I'm rather fond of it." Another one insisted. They crowded the hallway, blocking his line of sight. On the other side, Nemuri held Midoriya low, holding a finger to her lips. Izuku gulped, sneaking away with the woman. As soon as they turned the corner…
"Well, I suppose it's lost forever." He decided. "Good day." Without another word, they all strode into the teacher's lounge.
Meanwhile, Midnight sprinted down the hall, with Izuku in a fireman's carry, dying of laughter all the way!
Eraserhead side eyed his old friend, somehow deepening his eye bags. "What's going on?"
"Absolutely nothing, pal ol' buddy of mine!" Mic raised his hands in surrender. "Also, don't you have class, like, 5 minutes ago?"
Aizawa swore, then strode off down the hall. It was a couple twists and turns before he reached home room.
BAM!
He slammed the door open, finding Midnight. In his classroom. Sitting on his desk. With every student accounted for.
"What are you doing." He stated. Not asked. Stated.
"Oh, I was simply sharing some old war stories with the next generation!" Midnight mewled with her legs crossed. Several boys had her total, complete attention. Aizawa snapped his head to Midoriya's chair.
Which was occupied. By a sweating Midoriya. His hand conveniently covering his watchface.
"Midoriya," he said sharply. "Where were you 10 minutes ago?"
"Uh…" He started, but Midnight interrupted!
"Ah yes, Midoriya. You know, he managed to answer every one of my questions correctly so far? He's three for three!" Midnight lied. Aizawa narrowed his eyes at her, then at Midoriya, who quickly looked away.
"So he's been here the entire time?" he asked.
"Yep! Perfect attendance, along with the rest of his class!"
Aizawa glared around the room. Most every other classmate had innocent looks on their faces. Their smiles were…uncanny.
However, there was one flaw. Iida was gripping his desk. Tightly. And he was trembling, his eyebrows in a furious knot.
Then he looked at Bakugo. The normally moody boy was tapping his fingers along his desk. He glared out the window.
Then Iida stood straight up, like a plant in bloom.
"SENSEI, I HAVE A CONFESSION!" Everyone in the room looked at him in shock! The betrayal!
"Yes, Iida. What is it?" Aizawa said boredly. He knew the kid would fess up, sooner or later.
Iida took a deep breath.
"I WAS 30 SECONDS LATE TO CLASS!" He practically shouted. "I was distracted with the media outside and took several crucial minutes to speak with them and answer their questions! Please forgive me!"
Somehow, Aizawa got even more exhausted. He looked at Midnight.
"Covering for my students, are we?" He said sarcastically.
"Heh…something like that. Anyway, have fun today!" She waved as she strutted out the door. Aizawa gave one last glare around the room.
"Iida. Sit down."
"Yes sir."
"I hope you all have prepared yourselves." Aizawa said darkly, making the entire room 2 degrees chillier.
…
…
"It's time to pick a class representative."

Oh boy is right.
SonicMax:
Eventually on both points. Hisashi is a huge link for Midoriya to the rest of the universe. But right now, they need to work through the issues that come with abandonment. The door is still shut, just unlocked.
As for Bakugo, they are not on as bad terms as canon. Wanted to do that differently and see where it went.

I wish. But punching a trained Magister level Plumber isn't a good way to make your point. Thanks for the reviews!
