Disclaimer: I don't own MHA or Dream State.
It's easy to lose all that inner faith
When I see the cracks in the home I made
I start to lose my focus, I'm losing ground
I get so high up but always get so down
I've worked too hard
My head and my heart got me this far
I'll wear these scars on my sleeves
Real proud like my broken heart
'Cause all I want is another chance
A new beginning
And I just want to make new waves
And find a new way out
Sometimes I am weightless
Just drifting through this life unconscious
A wanderer chasing a dream
Walking the edges of reality, is it just me?

Chapter I: New Waves
The sound of roaring water snapped my eyes open. Where I was once laying in my bed, I was now standing at the edge of a beautiful lush cliff, water rushing off the side as it sparkled as if it were something from a fairy tale. In fact, everything around me seemed to be overflowing with vibrant colors.
"Go ahead, Don't you trust me?" A gruff voice in my ear asked. My cheeks heated up in response to the proximity of the mysterious man I hadn't noticed before. His breath was warm in my ear, he brushed my hips with that back of his hands leaving trails of fire in their wake.. My gut screamed to do as he asked, but I still stood frozen in place almost as if I didnt have control over my own body.
With this realization the world around me seemed to react in a dark way. The sky once bright and colorful became dark and bleak. The man behind me became a blur shouting at me to run, but I was still glued to that spot. I started sinking in that spot. Sinking farther and farther into the ground. The blurry man tried to reach out to me.
"Miyuki!"
The world went black.
"Miyuki."
"Aizawa?"
Her eyes fluttered open once more, only this time she was in her bed. Miyuki's face was dripping sweat, she realized as the blurred face of her guardian came into view.
If he noticed her distress from the dream he had pulled her away from, his expression didn't give it away. Instead he seemed to be patiently waiting.
She sat up and stretched her arms above her head, muscles still tight from sleep. "Your results came in," Aizawa stated, matter of factly.
She nodded in response. He arose from where he was squatting beside my futon and ruffled Miyuki's already messy hair before leaving her alone with the envelope now sitting in her lap. Her heart was pounding with excitement. She had wanted this since she was a little girl.
She briefly wondered what would happen to her should she actually get into Yuuei. She admits to herself that being there made her feel more at home than she had ever felt in her childhood house with her father. Aizawa wasn't kind and nurturing the same way her mother once was. But he had raised her, he had guided her, and more importantly he had cared for her the way thay no one had since her mother.
With that thought she took a deep breath, calming her nerves as she tore into the envelope. A small mechanical cylinder fell out onto her lap and a holographic video began.
It was All-Might in his signature pinstriped suit. Seeing him, even now after everything that's happened, still made her heart flutter with excitement.
"Ah, young Miyuki. You've grown a lot from the scared little girl you were that night. You swore to us that you would become a great hero who saved little girls and gave them hope again the way we did for you all those years ago. You're on your way to making that dream a reality, Congratulations. You've passed both exams with exemplary scores."
He brought the top 10 list up, showing that she, Miyuki Yumeko, had placed 5th with 36 Villian points and 30 Rescue points.
Aizawa, who she hadn't seen come in, sat down on the bed next to her. "Good work, kid, you've earned it. You did this all on your own." Her eyes stung as she fought the tears that threatened to fall. "You're not going to go and get all emotional are you?" He teased.
"No, I'm fine," She mumbled as she rubbed her eyes raw on her sleeve.
The next month was dedicated to training her body and keeping up with her studies. If she was going to be training with the best of the best, she would need to be able to keep up. Especially with kids like Katsuki, Bakugo as students. Despite his explosive demeanor at the Entrance Exams, she couldn't help but admire his raw power and the work he'd clearly put into developing his quirk. It was no surprise when she had seen he scored the highest, nor that he had no rescue points.
The guy was nothing short of impressive but his people skills could use a lot of work. And that's pretty bad coming from the girl that only speaks when she deems it absolutely necessary.
It was now only a week before she would begin school at Yuuei.
Class 1-A
She was doing what she did most days while trying to unwind before bed, she was painting. She never really knew what she was going to paint until she's finished. While she normally stuck to realism, she would even stray to abstract when it felt right.
Aizawa pretends to be bothered by the art supplies scattered all over the house but in truth he loves seeing new pieces hanging on the wall whenever he comes home from a particularly rough protrol. It would be difficult for him to separate from her when school started.
He understood the decision to put her in his class amongst the students that would flourish well together, he even understood that they didn't take in consideration the potential conflict of interest of putting his ward in his class. But it wasn't logical. His students should all be of equal footing in his eyes. Though he would never give her a grade she didn't earn or show her any special treatment because of that, the fact of the matter is that he cared for her, in the same way as a father cared for his daughter. That was something he couldn't even admit to himself, let alone the school.
Knowing that the integrity of the class wasn't at risk was good enough for them to place her in his class, whether or not he continued to be her guardian. Principal Nezu's exact words were, "Why should her studies suffer merely because of circumstance? You are a man who values logic. Who better to stay objective? Where else could she go? You're a big reason why she hasn't fallen through the cracks, and she needs you now more than ever."
He sighs dejectivly as he realizes that he has no choice but to continue to be her guardian while doing his best to remain objective and rational throughout her time in his class. What a pain.
This chapter was quite elusive but I think I finally got it. Let me know what you think!
