Definitely did not updates this fic in a reasonable amount of time xD I guess the inspiration just flows when it wants to but luckily I feel re-inspired. And only a week or so before this story's year anniversary from the first chapter!
In other news.. I thought of what voice I hear in my head when Miyuki speaks and her voice actor would be Laura Bailey as she is one of my favorites and her voice would fit Miyuki perfectlty. She does the voice of Keiko from Yu Yu Hakusho, Maka from Soul Eater, Lust from Full Metal Alchemist, Kushina Uzamaki from Naruto Shippuden and many more roles.
Disclaimer: I don't own MHA or Chevelle.
There's close enough
And there's too far
It won't change an empty stare
But I can't seem to end
These images
Hauntingly looks like Hell
So, to care or plead silence
Weak hands are calling
To care or plead silence
Weak hands are calling
Come, enter the foreign
Face, all that's shameful
Cheat, may the past find
Out, separating

Miyuki woke up with a start as her eyes adjusted to the light coming in through her window.
"Crap! What time is it?" She momentarily panicked, realizing she never set her alarm last night. As if on cue, Aizawa poked his head into her room, "Don't worry, you're not supposed to be awake for another hour."
She sighed with relief, placing a hand over her thundering heart. Well as long as she was awake she might as well get a head start to her day, seeing as she was almost late the day before.
...
"You've got to be kidding me!" She exclaimed as she ran down the train terminal in a panic.
Once again she shot through at the last minute right before the doors closed. And just as last time she took the seat next to Tokoyami.
He looked at her, amused, and shook his head. "Wake up late?" He teased.
"Actually, on the contrary, I was up an hour earlier than I needed to be. I just thought since I was awake so early that I could continue working on this painting I started a few weeks before school started and I lost track of time," She replied, awkwardly rubbing the back of her head.
...
This time when they arrived at school she paid Bakugo zero attention as she sat down at her desk. He was merely a distraction, nothing more. She needed to stay focused on what was important and that bully just didn't qualify.
The first half of the day was uneventful, boring she would even venture to say. She was not alone in that sentiment as her peers seemed equally under stimulated by their mundane morning classes.
By lunch time she was brimming with cooped up energy; so much so that she finished her lunch in a fraction of the time that it took everyone else which left her impatiently tapping on the lunch table before her.
After what felt like ages, she shot up from her seat no longer content to continue sitting and decided to explore the school before her next class. It was something that Miyuki had wanted to do that since the first day and now was her chance. Grinning devilishly to herself she activated her quirk, and using her stealth abilities she snuck around the corners of the school, even stopping to ease drop on other classes.
At this current moment, she was doing that very thing to class 2-C. At one point she was so engaged in their lesson plan that she failed to hear someone coming up behind her.
Abruptly her quirk deactivated, leaving her unable to hear what was going on in the classroom. Instantly, she knew she had been caught, and by Aizawa no less. Sweating bullets, she slowly turned around to face his signature deadpan expression. She took a large gulp, her mouth feeling dry before opening her mouth to speak but before she could make a sound, the bell rang. Even though she knew she would have to deal with him at home, she decided that escape was her only option and the bell provided the perfect excuse.
"Goingtobelateforclassgottagobye!" Miyuki managed to sputter at him without taking a breath before zooming away towards her classroom.
Once finally inside, she plopped down in her seat, whipping sweat from her brow with a sigh of relief. Caught up in her close call, and soon to be unpleasant encounter with Aizawa, she failed to note her surroundings. She had taken it for granted that she had made it to the classroom before anyone else, but she hadn't been the only feeling impatient and ready for their next class. Behind her sat her row-mate, Katsuki Bakugo.
For the second time today, Miyuki had let her guard down and was paying the price.
"Nosey little cat get caught?" He asked her, amusement clear in his voice.
He struck a nerve but she wouldn't let him know that. She continued to stare forward, as if she never heard him speak.
After a while of silence she could hear him, "Tch," from behind her but only continued to ignore him.
A few more moments passed and the other early arrivers began to trickle in, of course begging with students like Momo and Iida. Before long, everyone was settled in their seats minutes before the bell rang.
Miyuki was beyond excited for Hero Basic Training but the teacher was nowhere in sight. It had already been almost 10 minutes since the bell rang and still no sign of-
"I'm," a familiar voice rang through the classroom as none other than All Might hung his body into the classroom, holding onto the frame of the door, "coming through the door like a normal person!"
Miyuki had to stifle a laugh at his not-so-normal entrance through the door. Her classmates began to buzz excitedly at the prospect of All Might being their teacher this class period and she couldn't help but silently share the sentiment, smiling dumbly to herself underneath her mask.
He strode in dramatically dressed in a costume her, and some of her fellow classmates, recognized his costume as one of those from the Silver Age, which was a personal favorite of hers. Miyuki couldn't help the sparkle of admiration in her eyes as made his way to the front of the classroom.
Once he was standing behind the podium he began explaining the lesson plan for the day; Combat Training. He then drew their attention to shelves of numbered capsules coming out of the wall. He specified that they were their costumes made based on their Quirk Registrations Requests that they had turned in at the beginning of the year.
Her and the rest of the class could barely contain their eagerness to try on their costumes. Miyuki shot out of her seat and over to her costume faster than All Might could finish with, "After you change, gather in Ground Beta," not caring to join the others in their group confirmation of his instructions.
This time she took her time in the changing room, sneaking peaks at everyone's costumes and waiting with the rest of her peers. Once they were all ready, they marched as a group into Ground Beta where All Might was waiting for them, pride in the students before him clear on his features.
"They say that clothes make the man, young men and ladies. Be fully aware that from now on, you are heroes."
Miyuki's heart felt full at that moment.
A moment she never truly thought she would be able to experience.
A moment she wouldn't have been able to experience if it wasn't for her guardian.
Tears welled up in her eyes but she didn't dare let them fall, as she willed them to dry up. She peered around her peripheral to make sure no one had noticed the short lived gloss in her eyes to find Bakugo staring her down intently as if trying to figure her out. She shot her eyes forward once more directing her attention back to All Might as he continued, "That's great everyone. You all look so cool! Now, shall we begin, you zygotes?"
Everyone erupted once more in excited anticipation, commenting about their own costumes and those of the heroes around them. Her own costume had been a skin tight black suit that zipped up from the front. She had left unzipped down past her collar bone but not enough to show cleavage. Over the top of the suit she wore a gray and white cropped hoodie. The hood had large cat ears that did well to conceal her own ears from the world around her. She just couldn't fathom what about her ears that just seemed to hypnotize strangers into touching them but she was not a fan and so she went through great lengths to hide them when her quirk was activated.
From behind her she heard Mineta's voice exclaim, "Yo.. Cat girl's got a really nice ass! Here kitty kitty- Umph."
Miyuki turned on her heels at the derogatory comment, ready to rip the perv's throat out with her claws to discover that he had already been silenced.
And by Bakugo no less! When their eyes met, he flickered his eyes away with a, "Tch," his cheeks burning red.
She hadn't had the chance to react or give it a second thought before All Might announced that it was time for combat training to begin.
The ever speculating Iida inquired about the nature of today's lesson, asking if we were going to be conducting urban battles once more as they had done in the entrance exams. To that, All Might replied, "No. We are going to move ahead in two steps," holding two of his fingers out to display his point.
"Most of the time, fighting a villain takes place outside, but if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a higher rate," he continued, " Imprisonment, house arrest, backroom deals.. In this society filled with heroes, truly intelligent villains hide out in the shadows."
All Might's words rang through her head once again, causing her body to become rigid and stiff.
Truly intelligent villains hide out in the shadows
In the shadows
Just like her father..
She was scarcely listening now, barely managing to understand the directions given to the class, distracted by thoughts of her father.
A part of her always wondered if he was still out there, hiding in the shadows. The logical part of her mind knew that he was gone, but her memories of him lingered. Haunting her when she least expected it.
Filling her mind with darkness.
His presence.
She cried out in pain as her father stepped out from the shadows and smacked her on the back with a switch once more, knocking her down to her knees. 'Again! We will keep doing this until you can block me. Anticipate my movements!' A loud crack sounded again
A hand clamped down on her shoulder, snapping her out of her trance and causing her to nearly jump out of her skin, her heart hammering loudly in her chest and ears.
She turned her head around slightly to see the source of the hand with her eyes narrowed into slits.
"H-hey! S-sorry! I just wanted to know if you wanted to go over battle strategies with me on the way to the monitor room since we're partners and all," Ojiro stammered nervously, intimidated by the silent and stoic hero.
Miyuki had been so caught up in her thoughts, she had failed to hear the teams be announced, tuning out completely shortly after the lesson had been explained.
She simply nodded in reply, silently thankful that he had taken the initiative, otherwise she wouldn't have known who her partner was until it was their turn. She silently cursed herself for letting herself be caught up in the past like that. Her father was gone. He couldn't hurt her anymore. He only existed in the darkest recesses of her mind.
As they walked to their destination, Bakugo's eyes narrowed at her back. What's with that girl?
For a moment she had looked... Terrified. Something All Might had said struck some deep dark secret of hers.
Just what was this girl hiding?
Oh shit! It seems like Bakugo is already onto her!
Also, Thank you for the new follows and favorites, knowing that someone is enjoying my romantic dribble means a lot.
Stay tuned to see what happens next!
I'll have the rest of this week free so that will more than likely speed up the rate of the next update! I'm also going to try to push the next few characters into 3,000 words or more. I feel like my chapters are a little on the short side. Lemme know what you think!
