Chapter 9
The flight back to Middleton was uneventful. On the whole way, Kim tried to pry more information on Shego from Ron but the blonde's mouth was sealed.
The auburn girl huffed annoyed. In the past there was no secret that Ron could withhold from her but now he was being more and more secretive. Not to mention that he could now keep level head in most situations and stopped being so clumsy. She was positively impressed with him, but she had to admit with shame that she also started to get a little jealous over him.
At some point of the flight Ron dozed off leaving her alone with her thoughts. She thought over and over at what had happened at Yamauchi. The fact that she witnesses first-handily the MMP shook her beliefs in magic to the very core. The fact that the creatures like Yono could really exist frightened her. The sheer of raw power that thing possess was unbelievable, not to mention the ability to turn people into stone was beyond scary.
But what unnerved her even more, was what had happened to Ron during that battle. That sickly crimson glow in his eyes, that cold dead look, the sick grin, she felt a shiver coming down her spine. She recalled the moment he was limping towards them all bloody with that glowing crimson eyes, it was a scene like from a horror movie.
And the fact that he was about to kill someone in cold blood...Kim knew that she have to address that matter with him as soon as possible. It was hard to believe that her best friend was about to murder someone…she had a nagging feeling that influence of certain someone could provoke it but on the other hand she saw how Shego tried to stop him as well...and that brought her to her second biggest problem with Ron.
Shego,
The very sound of the green-skinned villainess's name pissed her off. The fact that Ron somehow befriended her was simply beyond her…not to mention the way she acted around him, like she owned him or something. It pissed Kim to no ends.
Kim sighed, looks like both of them had much to speak about when they came back home.
Middleton,
The trio arrived at Middleton around eleven PM. Kim woke Ron up and walked him home carrying Hana so he could move with his stretches.
"Great I will be stumbling at the graduation," Ron whined.
"Come on you still have two weeks," Kim replied lightly, "I can't believe that the high school is almost over."
"Yeah me too I'm almost starting to miss Barkin's lectures," Ron smiled slightly, "Much has changed."
"I agree, who would have thought that a pair of normal teen agers would save the world on daily basis?"
They both chuckled.
"I think normal is not the right word to describe us KP," Ron stated with humor, "The word unique would be better."
"Are you thinking too high of us?" She teased.
"It's better than complexly nuts, isn't it?" He deadpanned.
"Aww come on we're not that bad!" The gril exclaimed playfully.
"Tell me how many teenagers you know fight madmen, robots, mutants, and other stuff just for a way to pass by time?"
"Well I guess you have a point here," Kim said just as they reached Ron's home, "Well see ya tomorrow at school…" She paused remembering something, "Oh and I want to check Josh issue tomorrow ok Ron."
"You mean…?"
"Yes I want to see if you were right if so…" Kim sighed.
"Kim if you're happy with him I can endure the glares," Ron said honestly.
"You're my best friend and I won't be totally happy if my BF doesn't accept you."' She replied, "Besides I'm starting to think that you were a little right about Josh he's too…." She trailed off looking for the right word.
"Pompous, snobby, back-stabbing, arrogant, traitorous, ig–" Ron enumerated.
"RON! Snobby would be fine please and thank you!" Kim huffed, "I will take you to school tomorrow don't be late"
"See ya tomorrow KP," Ron entered his house.
Later,
After Ron climbed upstairs and put Hana inside her crib, he fell on his bed and fell asleep immediately. He was still exhausted by the battle both psychically and mentally and really need rest. As soon as his head hit the pillow he fell asleep.
Surprisingly he dreamed of a grassland, and he rested under the tree and watched the clouds lazy travel through blue sky.
'That's one tranquil dream,' Ron closed his eyes.
"Indeed Stoppable-san," replied a voice that suddenly boomed behind him.
"KYAAA!" He screeched girlishly.
"My apologies for startling you, Stoppable-san," Sensei bowed but a mocking smile was still on his face.
"Sensei? What are you doing? I mean isn't this a dream?" Ron asked.
"Yes it is, I reached for you because I wanted to speak about your training." He said, "But first I would like to apologize to you for neglecting it…" The older man bowed.
"What neglecting, I'm improving every day with the tips you gave me!" Ron replied.
"With fighting skills yes, but with protecting yourself not," Sensei said, "You have seen what Yono's corrupt power did to you." He stated bluntly making Ron flinch, "Again it was my mistake for not preparing you for it that's why we will train so you can protect your mind from corruption."
"How sensei? There is nothing to corrupt me here?" The blond asked.
"Let me rephrase it then, from entering you mind," he said, "How do you think I read your thoughts?" Sensei said good naturally.
"You read my mind!?" Ron gasped shocked, then embarrassed by his thoughts.
"Don't worry Ron-san, I didn't pry too deeply I respect your privacy, but you have to stop thinking too loud about your love life." He chuckled successfully embarrassing Ron, "Aside from that, that is your first lesson, to detect when someone's invading your mind, usually the master of that art are so subtle that you won't even notice that they are inside Ron-san…of course there is also brutish approach but you will certainly notice that. Now we will begin your training I already left your mind and I'll reenter it, you have five minutes to prepare. Your task is to sense me when I do that."
"I understand sensei," Ron sat in lotus position and expanded his senses but to his surprise he felt nothing, not a single living thing.
"You must remember that we are in your dream Ron-san" Sensei said, "Except for us nothing is real here."
"Hey you said that you will enter my mind in five minutes!" Ron complained.
"I didn't need to enter your mind, it was all written on your face," Sensei chuckled, "Now concentrate."
Ron did he waited patiently. Five minutes have passed but he felt nothing. He tried as hard as he could but he felt nothing not even Sensei's aura.
"I'm already in," Sensei stated calmly.
"Damn," Ron muttered, "I hadn't felt a thing."
"Again," Sensei said and had to repeat himself a few dozen time. After unspecified amount of time Sensei deemed that it was enough.
"I'm sorry Sensei I failed," Ron said meekly.
"Don't worry Ron-san you were supposed to fail," smirked the old man.
"What?" Ron chocked.
"I'm already in," Sensei repeated and Ron's eye widened in realization.
"It's all in my mind...that is my mind!" he exclaimed.
"Yes, an unprotected mind is easy to access, since it will be morning soon I shall leave, but I want to tell you that there was one more reason for me to come here."
"Yes?" Ron replied.
"I came here to shield you from the remnants of the Yono's power," he replied stoically.
"What?" Ron uttered, "What remnants?"
"I'll show you."
Suddenly the sky darkened and a foul wind started to blow. The thunders roared through the sky and heavy rain started to pour. The feeling of tranquility was long gone.
"What happened?" Ron asked feeling suddenly very cold.
"Yono's power is malevolent in its nature and it would cause you nightmares if I didn't repress it," Sensei said and as suddenly the storm appeared, disappeared.
"You didn't need to I can handle few bad dreams," Ron said but he felt really grateful.
"It was my fault to begin with that you weren't able to protect yourself from his influence and that's the least I can do Ron-san…I would never forgive myself if you stained your hands in that way."
"What do you mean in that way," Ron asked but he felt that he wouldn't like the answer.
"You know what I meant Ron-san, you are the chosen one and you will stain your hands with blood one day." Sensei said with hints of sadness, "There are some people that deserves that fate."
"I…understand believe me I understand…I wanted to kill Fiske so badly then…I-I even thinking about what he did makes my blood boil…but what frightens me that I knew that I wouldn't regret it…some dark corner of my mind tells me that I would enjoy it…does that makes me a monster?" Ron asked in little voice.
"As long as it doesn't leave your mind no…it's natural to feel satisfaction for the demise of the enemy it's in our nature that we hate someone who hurt us or our loved ones, but to take delight in someone's pain and suffering that is the mark of the true monster." He said in a sage tone, "Your road will be bumpy and have many turns but never forget who you are…"
"Thank you Sensei…your wisdom always humbles me," Ron bowed, "I wish I had just ten percent of it."
"It will come with age Ron-san, but you are wise beyond your years, we'll meet soon and begin our training for real like you Americans like to say, farewell," Sensei bowed and disappeared while Ron woke up.
"That was one interesting dream?" He stood up from his bed but completely forgot about his ankle. He hissed in pain but… he could now lean on that leg," What the hell?" He did a step, it still stung but he could walk more or less, "Since when I heal so fast?"
He walked downstairs and fixed himself a breakfast. Then he went to dress himself and walked out to see Kim waiting for him in her car.
"Hey Ron, are you sure you can walk without stretches so soon?" Kim asked.
"I'm surprised too, I thought that it would take me at least a week to heal but damn that was fast!" He mused, "Anyways ready to unmask Monkey?"
"It's Mankey, Ron and don't treat him like he's some criminal," she replied making him roll his eyes,
"Whatever you will see it today just look at his face when he sees me," Ron replied stepping out of the car, "Go first and text me when you find him."
Kim nodded and left Leaving Ron waiting. After few minutes the text came that they were in hall D. Ron walked there. And saw Kim speaking to Josh who was turned back to him. Kim noticed him and walked forward so she was next to Josh and waved at Ron.
Josh turned to see who it was and as predicted his face twisted in disgust and anger just for a second. But Kim wasn't called the girl that could do anything just for show. She immediately caught his expression.
'So Ron was right all this time?' She felt a stab of guilt because of her constant requests to give Josh more time to accept Ron.
"Hey, ya Kim, Josh," Ron greeted them casually.
"Hey, Ron," Josh replied like nothing happened, "What happened to your knee?"
"Oh you know, mission, one psycho you know stuff…" Ron replied, "Anyways I'll have to go I have classes and in my state it will take some time to get there. When he left the duo stood in silence.
"Ok Kim…" Josh began turning to her only to see her furious stare.
"I'm really disappointed in you Josh," she muttered angrily, "Ron was right after all!"
"What are you talking about?" Josh asked slowly.
"You hate him and you are not even a bit sorrowful for what you did to him…I forgave you when you swore to make things up to him but I see that it was only a façade to fool me!" She yelled.
"Ok fine, I hate his guts but it was because that he want to steal you from me!" Josh replied, "I know about his feelings for you!"
"He doesn't have any feelings for me!" Kim cringed in the inside, 'Does he?'
"Oh yeah sure! What about that kiss on the prom?" He shot back.
"It was a spur of a moment thing! We just saved the whole world from a psycho! Besides that's beside the point!" She seethed, "The fact that you brought ten guys to beat my best friend should give me an insight of what kind of person you are!"
"I know I acted rashly then! I shouldn't have done that ok! But I was so jealous of him that I thought that a good message will take him of your back!" He yelled.
"Take him off my back! He's my best friend since pre-k! We've know each other all our entire life, how could you even think in that category!" She uttered horrified, "He's like family to me!"
"Then why the hell he isn't your boyfriend then!" He spat.
"None of your business Monkey!" Kim growled not noticing that she twisted his name, "We're done!" She turned on her heel and walked away filled with fury.
People who gather to watch the show parted. No one was stupid enough to face the wrath of Kim Possible and her Sixteen Style variations of Kung-Fu.
Of course the rumors of the falling between Kim and Josh spread like a wild fire and by the lunch break everyone knew about it.
Cafeteria,
Ron, Kim, Monique, Felix, and Zita were sitting at the table enjoying their meal, chatting idly.
"So dude how about you come over for some Zombie Mayhem marathon?" Felix proposed, "I just bought brand new PS4 console."
"You mean another nerd night with towers of pizza, with long gone dignity, and on Friday with zombies? Hmmm I'm in steel legs!" Felix and Ron bumped their fists. The three girls rolled their eyes.
"I can't understand what fun are all those little games," Monique sighed.
"You're a woman you won't understand," Felix said.
"Hey! I'm a woman too and I'm better player than you!" Zita socked him in the shoulder.
"Only in Everlot dear, only there," Felix said, "So Ron at eight?"
"Got it!"
"Oh I almost forgot!" Monique exclaimed, "How did your last mission go!"
Suddenly all good mood vaporized when Kim's and Ron's expressions fell especially Ron's.
"You don't have to say if you don't want to," Monique added quickly.
Ron shifted uncomfortably.
"Let's say that this was one of more…dangerous mission by now and many things happened," Ron said carefully.
"We'll tell you when we're ready," Kim added. They nodded in agreement.
"Ok guys let's drop this depressing topic!" Ron suddenly said clapping his hands, " Let's talk about hmmm….what do you want to do after school ends."
"Fashion designer," Monique said.
"Lawyer"," Zita replied.
"Inventing cyber tech," Felix said.
"Hmm don't know yet…maybe join GJ what about you Ron?" Kim asked.
"I wanted to be a cook…" Ron started but quickly recalled Sensei's words.
"A COOK? Come on dude! Go into inventing tech!" Felix all but shouted, "Besides I've got a proposition for you." He said mysteriously.
"Ohh care to share?" Kim said curiously.
"Sorry ladies but it's only for Ron's ears."
"I'm not going to marry you!" Ron replied with fake horror.
"How could you!" Felix shouted with fake a hurt.
"Eww, that's disgusting Felix," Zita said, "Now I know why you want me to wear men's clothes when we make out!"
Ron's and Felix's jaws hit the ground.
"Dude that's sick," Ron gasped with shock.
"Zita dear stop joking!" Felix replied red with embarrassment.
"Just for notice I have nothing against gay people," Monique said.
"Me too," Kim added, "Unless they are black!"
"Hey!" Monique yelled, "That's not funny!"
"I agree! Most of your clothes are made of cotton and Monique worked hard to collect it so the Asians could make it!" Ron nagged Kim angry at her racist stereotypes. For few moments the group was silent.
The tension was palatable.
"BUAHAHAH!" They burst out laughing like madmen and madwomen.
"Guys I think we fell to the level of South Park humor," Kim said between giggles.
"That comment about the cotton almost made me fall," Monique said, "Good one Ron!"
"Not as good as Zita's," Felix said.
"True," Ron admitted, "Who knew you have such fetish."
"Ron…" Felix warned.
"Ok ok, let's go to classes," Ron said.
"We still have few minutes," Kim replied.
"Broken knee, remember?" Ron stated with a smile.
"You walk surprisingly well for having a broken knee," Zita said.
"Tell me about it I was surprised too!" The blond replied, "Come on guys I don't want to get detention, again."
Later,
When the school ended Kim drove Ron to the mall since he wanted to do some groceries. She proposed to wait for him but Ron declined. After all he wouldn't want her to know that he planned to invite Shego at the dinner at Saturday. But before he made any plans he decided to call Shego first.
"Hey, Stoppable what's up?" Shego asked.
"Nothing much, tell me do you have free Saturday? I thought that you could come for the promised dinner?" Ron said.
"Hmm…I wanted to bust Drakken out that day but I guess I'll just do it on Sunday," Shelia replied, "Anyways how's your leg?"
"Would it surprise you that I can already walk?" He said.
"Yeah I heal that fast," Shego retorted.
"Apparently I can too now," the blond chuckled, "Ok then we're set be at my house at 5PM."
"Will do, see ya Stoppable." She disconnected.
Ron smirked to himself and went to buy all the necessary groceries. When he finished he was about to walk out of the Mall when he passed a jewelry shop and something immediately caught his attention.
It was a silver necklace with emerald stone at the end. Simple design, nothing fancy but it immediately brought the Raven haired villainess to his mind.
'I could buy her that as a thank you for what she did…besides she had birthday few days ago…" Ron mussed and entered the shop.
"Hello how can I help you?" The female clerk asked.
"I would like to see that necklace at the exposition" He asked politely. The clerk moved to the exhibition and handled him that necklace. The silver chain was linked and the emerald was embedded into silver mass, "How much for it?"
"Nine hundred ninety nine dollars…" The clerk replied politely. Ron rubbed his chin. He would really like to buy it for her but wouldn't such expensive gift give her all wrong signals? But on the other hand she did bleed for him at the last battle of Yamauchi so he felt inclined to buy her something nice.
"I'll take it can you pack it in something nice? Preferably in something green and black."
"A present for a girlfriend?" The clerk asked with sly smile making him blush.
"N-No! She's not my GF!" He stammered. The clerk gave him knowing look but said nothing. He paid and walked out of the store embarrassed. He walked out of the mall and called a taxi that drove him home.
Shego's Hideout,
Shego felt her mood lighten a bit. The prospect of eating Ron's divine cuisine made her mouth water. She decided to postpone her plan to spring Drakken out of the prison. She was getting quite bored with the lack of jobs so freeing her employer was necessary for her to have some fun.
'And beating up Ronnie a little for slapping me,' the raven girl giggled darkly. She wasn't the forgiving kind of person.
She moved to her computer and checked the information on the Black Network. It was a special site where villains from all word chat or boasted about their deed or being mocked for their losses, also you could find Hench Co. newest inventions and purchase them. She surfed through the site not finding anything particularly interesting when suddenly the side window opened showing Monkey Fist face, and boy it was angry.
"Well, well, well looks who decided to visit our humble site…" Fiske said venomously, "Don't you know it reserved for villains?"
"Had Stoppable hit you too hard? For your information I am a villain far cry better than you," She replied icily.
"Then why have you helped them?! If not for you I would defeat them!" He yelled his face twisted in a snarl.
"Stoppable paid me to help," Shego lied smoothly, "I'm also a mercenary in case you forgot."
"Rather a whore who give her services for the highest bid, tell me had your contract with Drakken also stated to warm his bed?" He asked mockingly.
"If I were you I would be more careful with my words Fiske," Shego said through her teeth, "Come to close to the fire and you will get burn."
"Of believe me the only one who will be burning is you" He growled with malicious smile, "You will regret going against me Shego."
"If you think that I'm afraid of you Fiske that you are sorely mistaken!" She replied with superior smile, "After all, the sidekick beat your sorry ass!" She disconnected him when he was about to roar in fury, "Great now I have another psycho on my back, great thanks Ronnie!"
Evening Felix Pad,
"Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about!" Ron yelled slaughtering hundreds of zombies.
"I know the new console is so badass!" Felix added stuffing his face with pizza.
Ultimately the match ended in Felix win.
"Hey what was that offer about?" Ron asked.
"You know thanks to our invention my life is now much better," Felix started, "I thought to patent it so no one would steal our design."
"Then go for it dude, don't waste time," Ron said.
"Yeah but I thought about it and then it hit me why should I only be able to use it when they are so many more people disabled out there," he continued.
"What are you planning?" Ron asked with a grin.
"I'd like to open a business with you and produce it on a factory scale," Felix said surprising Ron, "I will also extent that offer to Tim and Jim and preferably Wade since we will need a computer genius too."
"Hmmm that would need some serious cash to start," Ron said.
"Yeah that's the problem but I guess if we find the right investor we can start manufacturing it not to mention get access to better quality materials." He mused, "I know that people will jump at the chance to be able to walk again."
"Yeah that could work…not to mention what's stopping us from inventing something new? And I guess there won't be a problem with finding a sponsor," Ron grinned, "I'm a millionaire after all."
"No dude in case something goes wrong you will lose so much cash!" Felix shook his head.
"You said it yourself that people will jump at the chance to walk again besides if we only keep it to ourselves we can sell it at reasonable price."
"Well, you're right…I guess we also have to speak with Tim, Jim, and Wade and ask if they are in."
"Hmm maybe I should think about going into tech instead of cooking…" Ron mussed.
"Totally dude, maybe we can go together at Middleton high college, I think for applying there since they have a strict tech faculty there. Everything from basic machinery to cybernetic and I really think that with your talent you should apply there too."
"That might not be that bad idea after all what can a band of four mad geniuses and me can't do!" He said.
"Ron you're a genius too without you I wouldn't be walking," Felix said.
"Aww come on you're making me blush," Ron chuckled.
"Since we're talking about blushing…" Felix started.
"I'm still not gonna marry you," Ron immediately said.
"Damn it, anyways how's it going with Tara?" He asked.
"Well we were on a date I suppose and had some fun," Ron said, "Tara's really sweet…"
"I can feel a 'but' coming," Felix stated.
"Yeah it's not like I feel…a pull towards her, she's very nice and attractive I admit that but I guess she's not my type," Ron sighed.
"Then who Kim," Felix said, "She recently broke up with Monkey, that might be your chance."
"I don't know she already rejected me once, besides my feeling for her are now in mess so…" He furrowed his eyebrows, still having one face in mind.
"Dude don't tell me that you have fallen for Shego," Felix said with wide eyes.
"What?! NO!..Maybe…Shut up!" He admitted.
"We'll you're really aiming high dude, it seems that you prefer the bad girls…" The wheel man chuckled.
"Yeah Tara's like an Angel but I prefer the Demoness….hell she's so sexy," Ron admitted.
"Calm down, you know that it would really would look bad for you rep if you date a villainess," Felix said, "But on the other hand I hadn't heard that she ever had an official boyfriend."
"Well she's coming tomorrow to have dinner with me," Ron boasted.
"Again?!" Felix gasped" You're really are THE mad dog."
"She will come twelve more times if I'm lucky," Ron grinned.
"You really are serious about it?" He stated, "But you are aware how hard that will be and I'm not talking about Shego herself aside from her being wanted in eleven countries what would Kim say?"
"I know and Kim knows about it…well not all but the fact that I managed to befriend her if she knew that I have a crush on Shego she would skin me alive," Ron shivered.
"You know that she will eventually find out?" He asked.
"Yeah but hell I can make my own decisions, can't I?" Ron said defensively.
"Dude I'm not judging you but you know that those two despite each other," Felix pointed out, "They are bound to fight."
Ron shoulders slumped.
"I know but this time I have really good feeling about it, even if we end being just friends I think I might pull her out of the life of crime." He stated.
"I think that you're borderline masochist, anyways back to playing!"
"This time I will beat you."
The Possible's House,
When Kim came back from school, she waited patiently for her mother to come back from the hospital.
She needed few hints on how to speak with Ron about the matter of Fiske and Shego. She had learned from their earlier conversations that her approach might not be the best way to talk him out of something.
Mrs. P arrived home in late afternoon hours and found her daughter waiting for her in the living room. From Kim's expression she knew that something was wrong.
"Something wrong dear," Ann asked gently.
"It's about Ron," Kim started.
"Please don't tell me that you argued with him again," Ann pleaded.
"NO! I mean not yet, that's why I wanted to speak with you first," Kim instantly replied, "I'm worried about him."
"Tell me everything," Ann said sitting next to her.
Kim summarized the last mission to her mother and Ann listened to her with rasp attention. When she finished the senior Possible had a deeply concerned expression on her face.
"Kim I'm glad that you decided to come with that to me first, instead of shouting and telling him that what he did was wrong. That would only have worsened the matter," Ann stated, "Kim as you know Ron has a very big and gentle heart, but this time it worked against him. In the midst of that battle when his baby sister got hurt he snapped and wanted to…" She hesitated.
Ann didn't even want to think that Ron would murder anyone, "Kill him…"
"How's that helping?" Kim asked.
"Ron just wanted to protect his family and by extension you and as you said he was also under the influence of that Yono guy, so in normal circumstances he wouldn't go as far as to finish downed opponent off," Ann explained.
"Downed opponent? Mom you aren't saying that you approve of killing?!" Kim exclaimed.
"If it's self-defense and there's no other way…" She began.
"MOM!"
"Kim I'm proud of your strong morals but you also have to understand Ron's point of view, imagine what he felt at that moment, it was like someone tried to kill Tim or Jim in front of your very eyes…there aren't many people who wouldn't snap in moments like this," Ann said gently.
"And knowing Ron he also regrets his actions so be supportive don't nag him for what he did and tell him that you will be there for him…and gently say how glad you were that he didn't do it…that should solve all problems…" She finished.
"But what about Shego!" She exclaimed, "She's a problem too!"
"If Ron wants to befriend her that's his choice and before you start arguing I can recall that someone let her sleep here for few nights," Ann added slyly.
"But she was brainwashed," Kim mumbled pouting.
"There I think now you're ready to speak to him." She added cheerfully.
"Ok mom I'll do it tomorrow, he's at Felix's place now/"
Next day- Stoppable's House,
Ron came back from Felix around four AM and went to sleep setting his alarm clock at ten AM so he could do all the necessary preparations. His parents took Hana on their business trip so he was alone and that suited him perfectly.
He decided to make her birthday cake first. He went for the classic round design with three layer cake. The first one was chocolate then strawberry and creamy for the last. He poured the frosting at the top and wrote 'Happy Birthday' using melted chocolate. When he was done he put it to the fridge.
After that he began preparing the main dish. He went for the roasted duck with lemons plus spicy roasted potatoes.
When that was done he decided to also add some tomato soup with rice as a first dish.
After finished the cooking he cleaned up the kitchen and saw that he had less than two hours to get ready for Shego.
He quickly clenched the house and dressed appropriately for the occasion. He decided to go with light blue jeans and elegant black shirt. Sharply at five he heard knocking. He went to open and as expected he saw the green vixen.
Shego wore now black jeans with green T-shirt with décolleté and black jacked on top. Her hair as usual was loose. All in all Ron had to use all of his will power to not stare.
"Hey, Shego you look even greater than usual!" He smiled.
"You don't look half bad yourself," she purred admiring how fitted his shirt was, "So what's for dinner this time?"
"You will see," his smile grew. He let her in and took her jacket. Shego went to the dining room almost giddy from anticipation. She still recalled the taste of the last meal she ate here. Ron stated to carry all the plates with food and gave her a bowl of streaming soup first.
"Looks like every time I come here the meals are getting more and more sophisticated."
"Well special guest requires special dishes "he said.
"Oh so I'm special?" She asked teasingly.
"All my friends are," Ron replied not taking the bait.
"Killjoy," Sheila replied. They finished the soup and Ron put the slices of roasted duck, potatoes, and salad on her table. Shego put the meat in her mouth and purred in content.
"I will pay you as much as you want to be my private cook," Shego stated.
"I told you that I can cook for you for free," Ron smirked.
"I said private so that meant that you would only cook for me…" She clarified.
"And deprive the world of my godly skills? I don't think so," Ron said confidently.
"You know I can be really grateful…" She said pushing her breasts up. Predictably Ron's eyes shoot to her chest. She smirked at his blush. Then she put another slice of meat in her mouth, 'That might not be a bad idea after all?' She mused.
"Errr…" Ron stammered tongue tied.
"Relax Stoppable I was kidding, you're so easy to tease," she chuckled good naturedly. Ron blushed even more.
"So Shego…" He said when he regained his composure, "Anything interesting happened since Yamauchi?"
"Not particularly except from angry whining of Monty Fiske." She said and saw how Ron's face hardened. Somehow she found that look of hatred very wrong on his usually smiling face.
"What did he say?" He asked
"Oh nothing just the things in how could've won if not for you blahblah…" She replied deciding to not tell him about the promise of revenge.
"So he didn't threaten you and promised revenge?" Ron asked incredulously.
"…Maybe somewhere along the lines," she admitted and saw how his face darkened even more.
"Maybe I should at least cripple him," Ron muttered.
"Why are you getting so riled up? He threatened me not you?" She asked.
"Many reasons, you were there because of me, I defeated him, I wouldn't have wanted to see you hurt or harmed in anyway…" He enumerated.
"Kind of protective aren't you?" She mocked him slightly, but couldn't help but feel flattered that a bit of him cared.
"I care about all my friends, including you. And I would never forgive myself if something had happened to you because of me." He stated honestly.
"You know that I can take care of myself?" She asked rhetorically.
"He's a lunatic that have no scruple, while you will be fighting to knock them out, he will be fighting to kill," Ron said, "That's why I'm worried about you."
"Don't sweat it I handled more dangerous psycho's than Fiske," Shego said with a smirk.
"Like Raider?" Ron's tongue slipped. Shego looked at him in shock.
"How the hell did you know about that guy? I sent him to retire few years ago not to mention he wasn't widely known?" She asked with suspicion, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Well Hego told me when I had my interview on with him," the blond said.
"What interview?" She inquired.
"School assignment about my hero," Ron replied.
"If he's your hero then I'm out of here." Shego stated.
"He's not but that was the easiest source of all cheesy hero lines," Ron said quickly.
"Fine…but what brought the subject of that deranged bastard?" She asked looking into his eyes.
"It was when Hego told us that you just couldn't fit into the team," Shego growled at him, "But I asked him if that was all and then summarized your encounter with Raider…" He looked at her with pity.
"Don't look at me like that, I don't want you damn pity." She muttered angrily.
"Sorry…but was that the reason why you quit being a hero?" He asked gently.
Shego hesitated. She hated speaking about her past but something urged her to confess to Ron.
"I will tell you but that's a long story so let's move to the sofa," Shego proposed putting down her cutlery. The duo moved to the sofa and sat at the opposite edges.
"As for you question…" She said softly, "It was the hypocrisy of the people I have protected…I admit that I get overly brutal with the villains but in my opinion they deserved it…but I was criticized by everyone for that even by my brothers especially Hego and Mego."
She spat, "Then things started to go south when people started to file complaints against me can you imagine it? I was keeping them safe and yet they dragged me to the damn court saying that I was bad example and that such brutal behavior should be punished," Shego growled bitterly, "Not to mention Hego and Mego with all their damn bitching about what the real heroes are!"
"Hego told me that they tried everything and that nothing reached you," Ron said.
"Sure everything from shouting at me to calling me names!" She exclaimed. "Stop being so brutal Shego, you made the team look bad Shego, how you can be such an idiot Shego!" She mimicked her brothers.
She took a deep breath trying to remain calm.
Ron moved closer to her and put his hand on her shoulder. To his surprise she didn't shake it off.
"But the worst part were nightmares," Shego mumbled quietly, "I saw that kid's dead eyes boring into mine every time…sometimes it went worse and he asked me why I hadn't saved him…then I guess at one point I couldn't take it anymore and I just snapped and ran form them…and the rest you can guess…"
She finished bitterly with hints of deep saddens and hurt.
Ron felt guilty for forcing her to recall all those painful memories but thanks to her story he could begin to understand her. Deciding to take his chance he pulled her into his embrace. He saw her surprised expression.
"What are you doing Stoppable!" She exclaimed struggling in his hold.
"What all friends do when they see other pain…I'm comforting you," Ron whispered gently.
"I don't need your damn comfort!" She snapped but stopped struggling.
"Everyone needs to be comforted sometimes…you don't need you be always on guard," Ron said softly, "We're alone here and I won't think of you any less if you drop the tough act."
"It's not an act," she mumbled but almost against her will she hugged him too, fining his embrace calming.
"I know you are strong Shego, but even people like you sometimes need a shoulder to cry on," Ron smiled.
"I'm not crying!" She yelled.
"You are but inside so no one can see…" He sighed looking at her stubborn expression, "You didn't deserve all of that…"
"Maybe I've got punished by my future sins?" She joked weakly but her face was resigned, "But let's stop with all that sappy emotional stuff, I came here to feast, not to mope around."
"Hmm and I just know what will lift your spirits…Dessert!" He exclaimed happily and went to the kitchen.
Shego's face fell a bit when he stopped hugging her. In spite of herself she had to admit that she rather enjoyed his hug.
'It's different than the usual when the guy wants nothing but grope me…Damn you Ronnie why are you so confusing! I know that you have the hots for me but the way you act is like you are really meaning what you are saying,' Shego sighed.
She was aware of her trust issues. Looking at her style of life it was given. Shego had really a hard time trusting others. Ron somehow was slowly warming his way up to her empty list of people she trusted but she couldn't figure out his true motives. Usually when guys spoke to her in clubs she went to they wanted to only one thing.
Sex,
And if they were good looking she agreed if she was in mood. But usually it ended with her lighting her hands in warning when someone was too persistent.
But none of the guys she dated ever invited her just for dinner and small talk. That why Ron was so hard to figure out.
Her trail of thoughts was interrupted by the object of her thoughts coming with cake. She felt her mouth water but then shock overcame her when she saw what was written at the top layer.
"Happy Birthday?" She mumbled numbly.
"We hadn't celebrated it properly so I thought that now would be a good occasion." He smiled honestly. Shego felt blush crept on her face, "Sheila I know that I already said that but I wish you all that is best and I will pray for you to find happiness in your life."
He walked to her and pulled his gift out of his pocket, "Here that's for you…I want you to know that your friendship means a lot to me and I'm grateful that you helped me out last time…I hope you will like it."
Shego accepted the gift and with a feeling surreal. She couldn't recall when anyone celebrated her birthday with so much sincerity as Ron. This time she really had to keep herself form crying. She hated that feeling that makes her so weak yet it was first time in years when she was actually happy.
She carefully unwrapped her gift and gasped when he saw the necklace.
With years of being a thief she could instantly gauge the price for the necklace. She had more expensive jewelry in her lair, but that was irreverent. In that moment that necklace was second most precious thing she had.
She admired the simple yet elegant design.
"Ron…" She hated how weak she sounded, "You didn't have to..."
"Come on put it on, I want to see how it looks on you," Ron asked with a smile.
"So maybe you can help me out a bit?" She smirked slyly and turned around moving her hair. Ron moved closer understanding her intentions. Shego un-hooked the necklace and moved the chain around her neck.
Ron took the two parts of the chain and tried to hook it but Shego's smooth minty neck distracted him. Accidently his finger caressed her flawless skin sending pleasant shivers down her spine.
'Damn get your act together girl," Shego nagged herself, 'You're acting like a virgin again.'
Ron finally managed to hook the necklace and let her go albeit resultantly.
She turned around. The emerald was now stuck between her breasts and was threaten to disappear between them.
"So how does it look like on me," Shego asked.
"Lovely," Ron uttered in such tone that made Shego wonder if he was talking about necklace or her. Smiling she decided to reward Ron for all his efforts. She closed the gap between them.
"You know Ronnie I have little surprise for you too," Shego smirked, "Close your eyes…"
Ron did as instructed. Seconds later he felt arms wrapping around his neck and something incredibly soft and warm press to his lips.
His eyes snapped opened only to see a set of emerald green eyes inches from his. He wrapped his arms around her frame and pulled her closer.
Shego felt her day grew hotter and deepened the kiss demanding access to his mouth. Ron spread his teeth and let her tongue slide in. Shego immediately took control of his mouth despite Ron's shy attempts to dominate her. He only kissed Kim before for few brief moments not to mention that it was just pressing lips.
But what Shego did with hers tongue was totally a new experience for him.
She dominated his mouth and crushed every sign of resistance. She could anticipate all his moves and counter them. But Ron's hadn't complained. He enjoyed the kiss so much that he didn't mind letting her do whatever she wanted. He melted into her embrace.
Shego smirked when Ron finally gave up. His attempts to dominate here were clumsy but also sweet in its innocence. To be honest she enjoyed the kiss much more than she should. She bit his lower lip gently earning a surprised gasp from Ron. Stifling a giggle she continued pushing her tongue against his.
But Ron surprised her by cupping her face gently with his hands and caressing her cheeks affectionate.
"Sheila…" He breached.
"RON!" A screech came from behind. The pair jumped apart like they were burned and looked at horrified Kim looking at them with wide flabbergasted eyes.
"Oh KP what's up?" Ron said awkwardly briefly being aware that's Shego's lipstick was smeared all over his face.
