Chapter 7: The Gods Know.
[One Awesome Bolt Saving Quest Later]
Sally's POV
It was another typical day at home. Gabe had his friends over playing poker and drinking beer, and I was making my multilayered dip to keep him from complaining and becoming abusive. I heard loud laughter coming from the front room and knew that they were drunk. I tuned out and started to think about Percy and the last few days. The Underworld, Hades, The Quest, and even the Medusa's head Percy sent me. Then I heard a loud thud come from the front room and it snapped me out of my thoughts. Laughing followed the noise and then they returned to their conversation. "Do you remember that girl 12 years ago Gabe?" Joe asked.
"Yeah I do, the one all dressed in silver? Yeah I do, Auburn hair, we got her all chained up." Gabe said with a sardistic smile.
"We left her that way didn't we, all chained up. You finished her off didn't you Gabe." Joe said
"Yeah, I gotta tell you she was tight though, it was like a 1000 year old virgin."
I stepped back into the kitchen and pondered on what I had just heard. Realization then dawned on me, the 12 year old girl, I knew who they were talking about. 'Artemis' I thought, 'Oh dear Artemis' and from what they were saying, one of these disgusting men was Percy's real father. Shocked at this revelation and knowing the disgusting habits of Gabe and his Buddies I decided to finally use the present that Percy had given me. I cautiously grabbed it from my room being very careful not to look at it, and brought it back to the front room where Gabe and his friends were still laughing. Joe saw me first and was about to say something when Medusa's curse silenced him, "Gabe," I said He and Steve looked up, and for the last time I saw those cold eyes looking at me as they turned to stone. Silence was in the Apartment for the first time that day.
"I'm glad you finally got rid of them," A voice said that startled me, I turned around and instinctively raised the Gorgons head.
"Woah, Woah, Sally could you aim that somewhere else, I know Medusa is pretty and all but I enjoy being able to move." The voice said again. I knew that voice
"Eddie?" I asked.
"Yes, but I prefer Edward, much more sophisticated and lively than Eddie, don't you think?"
"Uhh, Eddie.. Edward, who are you really?"
"I am Edward Alexander the Second, Son of Apollo, God of the Sun and Music, as well as good looks." Eddie said with a cheeky smile.
He pulled out a bead necklace with 11 beads. "I went to Camp Half Blood for 11 years before it was deemed that I could safely be in the real world again. Then 12 years ago I got a visit from my father and was asked to take on this special mission. I was to keep a close eye on those three brutes and I have been keeping a very close eye on you and your son, or should I say adoptive son, since you arrived here. Dad actually helped me buy this place so that I could look after you guys. By the way I am sorry about all this and keeping it a secret."
"Wait, how does Apollo know?" I asked confused.
"Twin-telepathy," Eddie replied, "It is much more extreme in Gods though, so when Artemis got pregnant Apollo was able to feel that, he also was able to gather what happened from her memory, he gathered the faces of Gabe and his friends and tracked them down. He couldn't do anything about them because questions would have been raised, so instead he sent me here to keep an eye on them until an opportunity arose. Luckily you have done my job for me. Now I will sort out all the legal stuff, like why they are no longer alive and such, but could I suggest selling those as a way to get some money for you and Percy."
I stood there, still filled with shock, "Ok I will," I replied half paying attention. I paused for a few more seconds before asking "Eddie. Who else knows about Percy and his parentage?"
"Just Apollo as far as I know, he is quite good at keeping secrets," Eddie answered, "Especially when it comes to his sister, she doesn't even know that he knows. But could could you imagine what would happen if all the Gods know? we do have to be grateful for Poseidon and Artemis though, because they are the reason Percy is here, and he is becoming a fine young man and a good Demigod as well. Anyways I will leave you to the rest of your day to sort these out and I will sort out the legal stuff, so don't worry, just focus on Percy."
And with that the son of Apollo shook my hand and walked out of the apartment.
2 weeks later I had sold the Statues and gotten good money for them, enough in fact to get an apartment that was much nicer, lay down a mortgage on our cabin out in Montauk and even get Percy enrolled in a new boarding School, and myself in a night class.
Things are starting to look up.
End of Chapter
In all honesty I personally liked this chapter and it says exactly what I need it to. So I just fixed some grammar stuff and my random Capitalisation of letters.
