Time jump:
McGee was currently under the dash of the car. His nerdy senses went haywire with excitement. "Ziva you really gotta see this."
"See what, McGee?" Ziva on the other hand could have cared less.
Alex laid beneath the car. Staying out of the way, but in earshot of everything going on. Sadly, that included McGee's nerd talk. She spotted Ziva approach him. She raised a brow seeing her straddle his leg, yet the nerd boy didn't even flinch.
"It's an Atlas-Seven CPU." McGee basically spewed the words. "It's the same one developed for the Martian rovers."
"And how does this pertain to the case?" Ziva asked.
McGee paused for a moment. "Well, it doesn't. I just thought it was cool. See the thing about..."
Alex raised her head at hearing a loud commotion. It appeared Tim had moved his leg, causing Ziva to fall flat over him. 'Damn Ziva, just be glad Eyal isn't here to see this.'
Of course, Tony wasn't about to miss out on this. Appearing out of nowhere, he took a quick picture of the two. "I believe this is a classic yellow light situation." He continued taking his pictures, while the two struggled to separate.
"Stop moving McGee, my hand is stuck!"
"It's not the only thing that's stuck." Tony laughed, snapping a few more pictures. "Make that a red situation."
Ziva broke free with a loud growl. "You are so dead Tony!"
Just then one of the engineers appeared around the car. "What are you doing?"
Tony stuttered a bit to get the right words. "Investigation a...dead Naval officer."
"That's a $22-million piece of equipment, you."
Alex crawled out from under the vehicle with a threatening growl. 'Watch the tone.'
He exhaled slowly, taking a few steps back. "You people are jeopardizing my entire project."
'Pretty sure the happened the second that naval officer was killed, bud.'
Tony shrugged. "We are doing our jobs. What'd you find McGee?"
"Ah, there's a USB cable, still attached to the console on the passenger side." The poor man's hair was bed messy.
"Also bagged a battery for a laptop in the front seat." Ziva added.
"I removed the laptop." The engineer stated.
"We'll need it."
He shook his head. "Absolutely not. It contains a backup copy of Otto's AI."
Tony was quiet for a moment, clearly not caring. "Well, whatever that is, we'll need that, too."
He gestured to the car aggressively. "That is Otto."
'I am now going to rename you jackass.'
Ziva smirked. "Already got it covered Tony. The tow truck should be here any minute now."
"This-This is our only prototype!" Alex swear the man was about to cry. "You people...You people are...You're..."
"We're cops." Tony said.
"Federal agents." McGee joined.
"Police Officers?" Ziva offered.
"Maybe if you sound it out, it's easier." Tony said. "You know, English as a third language is always the trickiest one."
Ziva stepped up to him, a sly smirk on her lips. "I'll take the laptop now." She offered him a wolfish grin. "Please."
Time Jump: First Person POV
I was currently with Gibbs as he talked with Jackass one and Jackass's boss.
"This is completely unacceptable. When do we get our vehicle back?" Jackass demanded.
Gibbs stopped pacing, turning his attention back to jackass. "When we are done with it."
"Doing what?"
'Joyriding.'
"Figuring out how it was used to kill Lieutenant Seabrook."
Jackass scoffed. "How are all NCIS agents this stupid?"
'Okay, now you are getting on my nerves.' Growling lowly at him, Gibbs grabbed ahold of the vest before I got to close.
"Mr. Engler..." Jackass's boss snapped. "Insulting our guest won't bring Otto back here any sooner."
"Of course." He sighed. "My apologies. How long will it take for you to figure out Roni killed herself, Agent Gibbs?"
"Who said she killed herself?"
"She was the only one down here this morning!"
Gibbs raised a brow. "You mean except for you?" Seeing the look in his eyes, I stepped between him and Gibbs. Crouching down, baring my teeth at the man, he quickly stepped back. "Luna."
"Torsten, take a break." The old man ordered. "I'll handle this."
"Well, you better, Russell." He sneered. "He's jeopardizing the entire future of this company."
I was itching to go after him. Hunt him down like a rabbit. To see the fear in his eyes as I tear his throat out. 'I'll get my chance.'
"What he was trying to say was that this...proof-of-concept test is make-or-break time for us." Russell tried soothing the words spoken by a madman.
Gibbs shrugged. "Reschedule it."
"I tried." He sighed. "D.O.D won't budge on the dates. Dozens of teams are flying in from all over the world."
"Then you better help me find Lieutenant Seabrook's killer." Gibbs said. "Where's your chief mechanic?"
"Jamie?" Russell huffed a chuckle. "No. No, not possible. He got along very well with Roni. They were very good friends."
"He sexually assaulted her in his garage last night." Gibbs growled.
By the time Russell told us he hadn't clocked in today, Ziva had already called Gibbs and told him they found it. Arriving back at the office, we jumped onto the elevator and headed down to the garage. I frowned at hearing someone yelling for help but wasn't able to pinpoint what or who it was. It was muffled. Scratching at the doors, I urged the elevator to hurry the hell up.
"What's gotten into you?" Gibbs asked.
The second the doors slid open, I bolted out. To both our shocks Abby was trapped inside Otto with gas filling up the inside. We weren't sure what the gas was, so I did the first thing that came to mind. Gibbs attempted to open the door, only to be told it wouldn't. Using the space I had between me and the car, I leaped into the air, breaking through the driver-side glass, and flipped the kill switch with my nose. Gibbs had set off the fire alarm, finally gaining McGee's attention to the situation. Gibbs wasted no time in pulling Abby out of the car.
"Permission to hug?" Abby couched, latching onto Gibbs.
"Ah, you know you never have to ask." Gibbs chuckled. "Get the chair, McGee."
"Boss, I only turned my back for a few seconds." McGee said.
Gibbs sighed. "A few more seconds, she'd be dead. You, okay?"
"Yeah, I'm really lightheaded." She muttered, her eyes jumping to the car. "Luna?!"
"She's fine Abby." Gibbs assured.
I raised my head over the dash, not wanting to move from my spot on the robot. In the process of smashing the glass and landing on the robot, I had managed to once again slice myself. Mainly my paw had been penetrated by a piece of metal from Otto's scrap driver. Still, I wanted to make sure Abby was fine. Who knows what damage that gas can cause.
"Boss!" Tony barged out of the elevator, with Ziva and a few agents. "Evidence cage called in an emergency alert."
"It was me, DiNozzo. Stand down."
Ziva took in her surroundings. "You attacked the car?"
"The car tried to kill Abby."
"I think there was a short." Abby began. "When I tried to unbuckle my seat belt, it pinned me back and the windows shut and the engine started. It triggered all the doors in the cat to lock. And then the whole cabin filled up with exhaust."
I zoned out after that. All I heard was Gibbs yelling at the others to figure out how it was done. I turned my focus on seeing how I was going to get my paw out of this. Any attempt I tried ended up with either the piece of metal going in deeper or pulling to the side.
"Luna, what are you still doing in here?" Tim appeared by the passenger side. "Why don't you head on with Gibbs."
I let out a pathetic whimper. 'If I could get out I would.'
"What's wrong?" He looked around seeing the cuts around my face and chest. Until finally he saw my paw. "Oh shit. Tony!"
Tony popped his head back out of the elevator. "What?!"
"I need your help in here." Tim called out.
Gibbs not wanting to wait any longer, practically pushed Tony out of the elevator. "This better be good McGee." Coming around the car, he froze at seeing me. "What happened to her?"
"She broke the glass. Landed on a piece of metal." Tim gestured to my paw. "It's stuck in there."
"Alright, you hold her down and I'll pull it out." Tony slid into the passenger seat. His face was inches from mine. "Now I know you can understand me, so do not dare and take a bite out of me."
'No promises.'
Tim came around, grabbed ahold of the vest's handle, and pulled me back. "Alright got her."
Tony took in a deep breath, before grabbing my paw. "On three we pull." Both Tim and I nodded. "One."
'One.'
"Two."
'Tw-Son of a bitch!' I howled as he pulled my paw out. 'You said three you asshole!'
Tony chuckled. "Works better, now come on." Reaching over for me, he pulled me into the passenger seat as he slid out. "Let's take you to Ducky." Bending down, he slid his head under my stomach and grabbed ahold of my legs and paws. "Damn, you are heavy."
'I will let that slide since you are carrying me.' laying my head on his shoulder, I realized this was the first time he has willingly come up to me.
"I am only going to say this once, so listen up." Tony whispered. "I am sorry. I shouldn't have distanced myself like that. So, what if you are a werewolf. You are still the same Luna from before. And you proved it today in helping save Abby. Again, not caring if you got hurt in the processes." His hand came up. Scratching me behind the ear. "I won't doubt you again. But that still doesn't mean I like or ever will like your friends."
'Fair enough.'
Time jump:
Ducky had decided that I was to sit out for the rest of the case. Of course, he also decided being locked in a kennel would be best to contain me. And I very well couldn't shift without the cameras catching me. The alert of the doors sliding open caught my attention. To my surprise, Abby walked in. She held a small bowl of something in her hands.
"Hey." She whispered. "Tony told me you got hurt for helping me. How's the paw?"
'Healing.'
"Right, you're a wolf." Abby huffed. "Not like you can understand me."
Then it clicked. Abby along with Ducky, Leon, and Palmer didn't know what I was. To them, I was just a wolf.
"I brought you some water, Ducky said it was okay to let you drink now." She reached for the latch, pausing for a moment. "You won't hurt me, will you?" Opening the door, she placed the bowl in quickly. "There we go."
"Abbs?" Gibbs walked in. "What are you doing?"
"Hey, Gibbs!" Abby jumped to her feet. "Just giving Luna some water."
Gibbs glanced over her shoulder, to see the silver bowl. "It's late, you should head on home."
"Is she going to stay here all night?"
"No, Ziva is taking her home."
Content with the answer, she bid us both good nights. Jethro made his way over to the cage, pulling the door open. "Sorry, I hadn't realized Ducky placed you in the kennel."
'No worries.'
"How's the paw?" I raised my paw for him to inspect. "It's healing. Why did you say or do anything? I didn't realize you had been hurt, until a few moments ago."
It did suck not being able to shift back right now. Instead, I left him there, no point in making him suffer more than he already was. Besides, I had promised Nathan to give Gibbs and me space until after the pups were born. Speaking of which, I had to hurry home and help with the nursery.
