High up in the atmosphere of Sentai 6, the Spectrum ii was cruising at a steady pace. The rangers were travelling across the Planet for their meeting with the SPD. Jason still hadn't worked out why SPD had transmitted the encoded message to Xi. It was a question the red ranger would ask at the meeting later today.
In the galley the Omega Rangers were playing poker.
"I'm not sure I understand this game", Kim stated as she looked at her cards in confusion.
"It's more a game of luck", Zack replied, "but the real skill is in the bluff". Kimberly raised an eyebrow so the black ranger continued, "Deceiving your opponents into thinking that you've got a bad hand when actually you've got a good one".
The blue ranger still didn't get it, "How can a game that teaches deception be entertaining?"
"I think deception is a strong word", Trini said as she threw in a few plastic chips, "it's your call by the way".
Jason shook his head and looked at the cards in his hand, followed by the face up cards on the table. "Well I don't think I have anything good so I'll put a few of these plastic things in".
"See Jason you're not meant to tell us that", Zack smiled, "I'm going all in", he pushed all of his chips into the middle of the table.
"Me too", Kim added and copied the gesture, "let's see what you've got".
The red ranger turned his cards over, "I've only got this red and black one, is that any good?"
Zack looked at the cards on the table and shook his head, "Jason you've got a full house", he slammed his cards down on the table.
"Really?" Jason smirked as he pulled the chips towards himself.
"You've been playing us" Trini cried, "you knew all along".
"Well not really", Jason replied,
"I don't believe this", Zack groaned. At that moment Xi alerted them that they were approaching their destination, "Saved by the bell", he added.
The rangers got up from their seats and moved on to the bridge. The viewing screen showed them that they were currently over the Bay and moving towards the city. Fortunately the Spectrum ii was high enough above the city that no one below would be able to see them. From their high vantage point, they could clearly make out the sprawling metropolis that was the capital. "Alright we've got 15 minutes to get to the SPD base", Jason began, the rangers then teleported.
The building in question wasn't massive in comparison to others in the city. It was only 12 storeys high and fronted with black glass. The SPD logo on the front, the rangers walked into the front reception but the place was completely deserted. "This is weird", Trini whispered. Suddenly a television activated by itself and displayed a message, after studying it for a few moments Trini announced, "Omega Rangers, please report to the twelfth floor".
"Does anyone else think this is a trap?" Zack asked his team mates.
"I'll admit it's a little suspicious", Jason began, "but surely they would have done something by now if they meant us harm".
"That's a ropey bit of logic", Kim replied.
"Maybe but we're here now", Jason stated, "and don't tell me you're not curious". None of the others disagreed with the red ranger so they all followed him into the lift. The ride up to the top floor felt like it was taking forever but eventually the doors opened and they stepped out. They had arrived into a poorly lit area but they could make out a large table positioned in the middle of the room. There were several chairs surrounding the table and a large television screen was positioned along one of the walls.
As the rangers moved with trepidation into the room, the lights turned themselves on. A door opened at the far end of the room and a woman joined them. As she approached them, they could see she was a cat alien. She had black hair that curled around her cat ears. She was wearing a smart black skirt and suit jacket.
"Good afternoon rangers, my name is Dr Kat Manx", she greeted, "thank you for showing up".
"Your boss's method of communication peaked our interest", Jason replied. He looked behind Kat, "Is Doggie not joining us?"
Kat sighed, "Unfortunately i dont know", she began.
"I don't understand", Trini replied, "he sent us a message".
"Perhaps I should explain myself", she replied, Kim muttered something under her breath but it wasn't loud enough for anyone to hear. "For the last three years I have been helping Doggie fight off Grumm's invasion. She placed an oval shaped silver case on the table, "His instructions were clear. I had to transmit a message to the Omega Rangers and give them this", she pointed at the case.
Trini picked up the case but couldn't see a way in, "How does this open?" She asked.
"I have no idea", Kat replied, "but there's a video message that I have to play to you. Perhaps that will shed some light". She turned on the screen and turned to leave the room.
"Are you not staying?" Kim asked, trying her best to disguise her voice.
Kat shook her head, "The message is for your eyes only, I'll come back once it's finished playing", with that final comment she left the room.
The screen was filled with an image of an Doggie Kruger, "Hello Rangers", he began, "for the last 10 years SPD has fought to keep galaxies safe as you know i am Doggie Kruger
Deep within the minds of the rangers they vaguely recalled some of the past rangers talking about this alien. "Now down to business", Doggie said, "if you're seeing this then I am off world. In that case is an encrypted disk that gives you the location of an orbiting docking station. In that docking station is a weapon created by SPD, it will allow you to upgrade your zords to form a Megazord".
"A Megazord?" Trini gasped.
"The upgrades needs a special keycard to be activated", Doggie stated, "due to security concerns I've hidden this somewhere on Earth. The location of the keycard is also encrypted on that disk". The case opened by itself and inside was a disk, just as Doggie had told them, "Good luck rangers, the future of Earth is in your hands. I'll leave you with one final statement, you are not alone", the screen abruptly went blank.
"What do you think he meant by that?" Zack asked.
"I'm not sure", Kim added. Whilst they were discussing the validity of Doggie's claims, Jason had retrieved the disk from the case.
"Did you get your answers", Kat called out, making the rangers jump.
"Erm kind of", Trini replied, "I'm sorry to cut this short but I think we need to get back to our ship". Kat nodded in acknowledgement, "Good luck Omega Rangers", Kat replied.
"Thank you Dr Manx." Kimberly added. With a final goodbye the rangers departed the building.
