Death Fury: Thanks.

Killian rainey: (I think the . between the first and last name gets rid of your username when I publish the chapter. Sorry.) Well in comics certain species aren't usually on 'good terms' with the League or other superhero teams. Given how humans aren't exactly open minded to other species similar to our own.

Chapter 33: Night Time Rescue

(Unknown location, a few days later)

Drew stood in the first pack's dojo. He practiced the moves and techniques he'd learned in the other world, focusing his strikes as he was instructed. And he also worked on the style being taught to him now. He leapt and slipped around an invisible foe, striking out with a hand or foot. Then rushed forward in a blur of speed, striking out with one flat hand around the same height as his waist then struck out with his other hand aimed higher and around the same height as his throat.

"You're doing well."

Drew turned. Ulva, Frida, and Konrad approached him. Drew nodded.

"What's the plan today?"

Frida and Konrad nodded to Ulva, who nodded back before turning to Drew.

"You go on your first mission?"

Drew raised an eyebrow.

(Skies over Romania, an hour later)

The four steadily stayed above the target area, the jet camouflage by sight and all means of detection. Drew finished getting his ninjutsu gear on and ready. Ulva stood with him, arms crossed, as Konrad flew the jet with Frida navigating. The young shifter turned to Ulva.

"What's the mission?"

"A group of our vampire allies sent a report saying they're being hunted by a group of supernatural hunters."

"These are the ones responsible for what you've told me?"

"Not exactly. An old secret society of humans going back to the Middle Ages started it all. This group is unconfirmed to be involved, the vampires have only sought to run from them for now as the humans continue to target them during daylight and these vampires are heading to a secret base that gives them protective talismans to walk in sunlight. Your mission is to help the vampires and take down these humans. We're dropping you over our allies' last known location. We won't be far and we'll back you up in case things get messy."

"Thanks."

Ulva smiled and nodded.

"Still, I'm surprised they haven't attacked these hunters-"

"Poachers. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. It's just what we call them."

Drew nodded.

"Right. Like I was saying: why haven't the vampires attacked them at night?"

"This group is severely outnumbered and some of the vampires are newly turned, not to mention they are diplomats and doctors and their entourages. They report this group of poachers is heavily armed and has reported to have had some skill in fighting the supernatural."

Drew nodded.

"And the piece in my ear will connect me to you."

"The jet has its own system, state of the art. And if matters get too problematic, we'll be there."

"The League or the team might show up."

"They won't be able to track us with this jet. And the Martians can't read your mind."

"Yeah, why is that?"

"The minds of therians' are too wild and chaotic, making the matter of mind reading or mind control ineffective unless one of us opens our mind to one. The same with our spirits, we cannot be controlled by others…unless one's spirit is truly broken, but that has rarely ever happened. Psychics may sense you yet cannot read your mind. There's also the matter of your ninjutsu, your mind and spirit are honed to stealth in such a way that makes you invisible to them as well."

"Got it"

"Be careful."

Drew nodded. Ulva opened the jet's side doors. They were several dozen feet above a lightly forested area. Drew turned to the werewolves, who said the same thing at different times.

"Good luck."

Drew nodded to all of them at this then leapt out of the jet. Ulva closed the doors. Chaos Chimera landed on the ground with both feet and one hand on a tree branch silently. He shifted into a black cat and dropped to the ground. He began sniffing the area around him. He caught several scents, most of them belonged to humans. Gunpowder and silver were thickly mixed with their scent. He let out a low hiss at this. Then the other scents, they weren't exactly human yet he could sense the magic within them and blood.

He shifted into a dog and followed the scents. For several minutes he followed the scents, nose to the ground and ears perked up. Not long after he found who he was looking for. His eyes narrowed and he growled as he saw several humans in a small clearing down below. The humans stood armed with guns and with melee weapons tied at the hip. They surrounded a small group of people tied up with what Drew realized were silver locks and handcuffs. Drew shifted to human form, hand going to the earpiece.

"Chaos Chimera to Mother Wolf, do you read me?"

"Mother Wolf here, have you found them?"

"Yes. About four dozen poachers with six allies tied up with silver."

"I was afraid of that. They can turn into mist to escape and silver simply touching them or us doesn't hurt like many humans would think. It does however make it questionably uncertain to break out of though. Do you need backup?"

"Wait to see if I'm unable to free them on my own. If we all charge in at once, they might kill them rather than let the chance of them going free."

"Good strategy. We'll wait till you give the word."

"And if I can't?"

"We'll be there."

Drew pulled his hand back. Then he moved forward. Some of the humans walked around the perimeter just outside or in the trees. A few humans stood over them, one being a rough looking man in his 40s. He had one gun to one of the vampires' heads.

"Tell us where you were going freaks and I'll make this quick."

"We are no threat to you. We're healers. We've been trying to find ways to use our blood to help humans."

The human slammed the butt of the gun against his face.

"To corrupt us?! I should burn you alive for even daring to think humanity would need a vampire's blood!"

"Please, we've been studying the effects of our blood on possible long terms. We could help cure diseases and illnesses."

One of the humans walked around the edge of the clearing, eyes studying the area. But a hand wrapped around his mouth and another pulled him deeper into the woods. None of the nearby sentries noticed this. They continued to move around the perimeter. One was snagged and pulled into the shadows as the one before, another was silently pulled up a tree.

More sentries continued to be pulled away into the shadows or up into trees. None of the humans present detected this. The man at the head of the group continued to interrogate the vampires. His one hand was still on the gun, the other was on a silver machete at his hip.

"You'll tell us or I'll start chopping off heads. Hell, I might just do it anyway for fun."

He pulled down the top of his shirt, revealing a necklace with teeth. The vampires' eyes widened.

"V-Vampire fangs?"

"Yes. I've enjoyed taking them from freaks like you. Got the idea from a commercial about a man tricking and killing one of your evil 'women.'"

Drew heard this and snarled lowly. A few of the sentries turned in the direction of the sound, but were quickly knocked out and dragged away. Chaos Chimera continued to subdue the sentries around the perimeter, not making a sound.

The human leader pulled out the blade, bushing it against the vampire's neck.

"Answer me or I'll-"

Suddenly small dark balls flew from the woods and landed around where the man and his allies were. Smoke shot out and covered the area. The humans coughed and covered their eyes. The leader tried to speak.

"We're under attack! We're-"

He could barely make out the sight of his allies being pulled into the smoke, blows landing. Then not long after he hit the ground too. The smoke cleared. Chaos Chimera and the vampires, now freed, stood over the humans. The shifter turned to the vampires. Their leader smiled.

"Thank you so much. We thought we were goners."

"No problem. They're all unconscious for now. I thought you all would like to learn how they knew how to find you."

"Yes, that would be very informative."

Chaos Chimera picked up the lead poacher by the back of his neck.

"Make sure this one suffers."

He tossed the man at the vampire's feet, who nodded.

"Will the pack be helping?"

Chaos Chimera put a hand to the earpiece.

"What do you guys say?"

"Ask if they're meeting others. I can have some of my other friends help with organizing this where they're headed."

"They'll be sending help. What about you? Were you meeting others?"

"Yes, they should be on their way. We were to meet them here, but the humans got us first. The safehouse is about a dozen miles from here I believe."

The shifter nodded.

"We just got word from them, they're a few minutes out. And Drew, your old friends are on their way. A few hundred miles and incoming."

The ninja sighed.

"They'll get here by the time our friends take off. When they come, I'll hold them off."

"We can-"

"No, keep watch over our friends here as an eye in the sky. They need your protection for now. If they discover them, you know what will happen."

"...Right…We'll be back as soon as we can. Be careful."

"I'll try."

Within a few minutes, several black trucks drove into view just outside of the woods. The vampires from the trucks and those present gathered the humans present and in the treeline with Drew's help.

"The pack will send help to your safehouse as soon as they can for interrogation. I have company coming. You need to leave."

The vampires that had come nodded. A few of the vampires that had been taken captive hugged the young shifter.

"Thank you."

Drew blushed under his mask and hugged back.

"No problem. No hurry. You're not gonna want to be here."

They smiled and made their way to the vehicles in literal blurs of speed and got in before all taking off. The invisible jet following over them. Chaos Chimera sighed as he readied himself. He stood outside the forest. The ground was completely slick with dirt and a small hill looked over the area. Chaos Chimera sighed, crossed his arms, and waited.

Not long after BioShip uncloaked and lowered to the ground. She opened a hole and out walked Beast Boy, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Super Boy, and Wonder Girl. Chaos Chimera's eyes narrowed.

"Friends."

Black Canary took a step forward, one hand raising up. Beast Boy put a hand on her arm, shaking his head. Then he approached the other shifter.

"Drew, please. All we want is to help you. You are our friend."

"You made your intentions clear some time ago when the pack revealed themselves and offered aid."

"We won't work with monsters."

Black Canary's cut-in received a glare from Beast Boy who quickly turned back to Drew.

"Drew, I'm sorry for how I reacted at that point. I was afraid. The stories of werewolves speak of them being mindless killers, destroying everything and everyone in sight. Drew, I don't want that for you. What you went through for so many years was one of the worst things The Light has ever done to someone. You deserve to be free of all pain and suffering, including the one you may inflict without meaning to."

Chaos Chimera didn't respond, his gaze just turned to the others. Green Arrow gazed at him nervously. Superboy and Wonder Girl stood rigidly yet he could see they were ready to lunge. Black Canary simply glared at him, arms crossed. There was one other thing yet returned to look at Beast Boy.

"Drew, you were good to me when you had no reason to be. You helped stop The Light. You protected some of us before you disappeared into that portal. You have the makings of a real hero. You are just a victim now. You and the werewolves, you're all cursed but we can help you. That fight shouldn't have happened, Drew. And we're sorry about it. Please let us help you and them."

Chaos Chimera put one hand on Beast Boy's shoulder.

"Thank you for at least trying to make this peaceful, Gar."

Beast Boy smiled, putting a hand on Drew's wrist in reassurance. Chaos Chimera sighed.

"I know though that's not what's gonna happen. Too much is at stake, Apokolips is coming. And the pack and I intend to face them."

Beast Boy's smile fell slightly. He hung his head slightly and pulled his hand away.

"Then I'm sorry, Drew."

"As am I."

Drew threw back his left hand, striking seemingly the air in a few different places. What seemingly looked like another Drew appeared out of thin air only to revert to the form of Miss Martian. gasping, and fell to the ground. She was breathing but unconscious. The team's eyes went wide then narrowed, except for Beast Boy's.

"H-How did you-?"

Black Canary cracked her knuckles.

"It doesn't matter, Garfield! We take him down!"

Chaos Chimera's eyes narrowed. He turned his body to the right side and moved his hands. The right hand bent at the elbow and his forearm raised up with his right hand flat and pointed up. The left arm moved to a few inches from Drew's chest and the hand was positioned mostly flat except for the fingers curling and being pointed slightly towards his arm being across from it. He did all this as he spoke.

"We shall see."

To be continued…
