Death Fury: Hope it doesn't disappoint. Trying to do right by each character's abilities and prowess, though I feel sometimes I may not be doing them right.
Chapter 34: Only the Start
(Romania, present)
Chaos Chimera stood his ground, eyes narrowed. The strike team started to flank him. Green Arrow already had one arrow drawn on his bow. Beast Boy quickly made his way over to Miss Martian.
"M'gann! M'gann, wake up!"
Chaos Chimera remained calm in his stance.
"Well, who's going first?"
Black Canary's eyes narrowed.
"Gar! Get her clear!"
Beast Boy shifted into a gorilla and quickly leapt away, M'gann in one arm. Black Canary fired her sonic scream forward. Chaos Chimera leapt up, flipping around and landed beside Black Canary. The older woman grunted as she stopped her scream and threw her right leg forward. The ninja backflipped over the attack and over Green Arrow's head.
The archer fired his arrow, but the ninja caught it in midair and threw it back at its owner. Green Arrow quickly fired another arrow, both being destroyed in a small explosion. Black Canary shouted as she rushed forward, lunging and kicking out with her right foot. Chaos Chimera used an Upper Rising Block to push the kick up and out of the way. Canary grunted as she pulled back then struck out with her other foot. Her opponent pushed the strike aside with his right arm. Canary then quickly struck out with her other foot, but Chaos Chimera blocked it.
Green Arrow fired another arrow as Canary pulled back from her attack. The ninja saw the electricity surging around it. He ducked under the arrow as it flew past him and landed in the dirt. Super Boy shouted as he lunged at Chaos Chimera's back. But the ninja used a Back Fist Strike against him, the blow hitting Super Boy's face and knocking him back. The half Kryptonian wiped the blood running out from his nose and lunged again.
The ninja threw his right foot up, slamming into the hybrid's face and knocking him back. Wonder Girl shouted as she flew forward. She twirled her lasso and threw it. Chaos Chimera grabbed it at the end of the loop and pulled her forward. She cried out in surprise. The ninja slipped under her, knocking her to the ground.
"Work together! Take him down!"
Black Canary rushed forward as she shouted the order. She flipped around and struck out with both feet, but the ninja blocked with both gauntlets. Canary quickly landed on her feet then lunged forward, striking out with a vicious right haymaker. Chaos Chimera grabbed her wrist with his left gauntlet then struck the arm near the elbow with a couple of fingers from his right gauntlet. Black Canary gasped as the arm dropped to her side. She glowered at Drew.
"Nerve strike. Damn you!"
Superboy grunted as he rushed forward, throwing his right fist forward. Chaos Chimera twisted around the strike then threw his right gauntlet forward, hand open palmed. The hybrid shouted as he skidded across the ground. Wonder Girl lunged forward, throwing her lasso. It latched around her opponent's right gauntlet and she pulled him towards her. Chaos Chimera went with the pull. The young demigoddess threw one arm forward, attempting closeline him. But the ninja slid under the attack.
"Slippery jerk!"
The lasso was suddenly wrapped around her right arm, Chaos Chimera having slipped his gauntlet out of its grasp. The ninja then struck with his right gauntlet against the wrapped up arm's shoulder blade. Wonder Girl grunted as the arm fell to her side.
"Gah! Are you freaking kidding me?!"
Green Arrow rushed forward, firing multiple arrows. Chaos Chimera jumped up and flipped around, dodging each projectile. He landed and rushed forward. The archer fired another arrow as he backed up, the ninja slid under the attack and lunged forward. The Emerald Archer swung his bow at his opponent, the ninja grabbed one end of the bow.
"Uh oh."
Chaos Chimera landed a nerve strike to the archer's left arm which fell at his side. Then the ninja sweep kicked him, knocking Green Arrow onto his back. Black Canary grunted as she rushed forward. She threw a left haymaker then followed up with a roundhouse kick. Chaos Chimera pushed aside each attack before backflipping away. Black Canary then fired her sonic scream.
Chaos Chimera growled as both hands went to his head, covering his ears. The pain rang through his head as the scream continued to go on. He turned his back to her, growling in pain. Black Canary walked forward, continuing to scream. Green Arrow grunted as he crawled onto his stomach with his right arm.
"Superboy! Now!"
The hybrid jumped up and fell towards Drew, pulling an arm back and shouting. Chaos Chimera then remained still. One of Green Arrow's eyebrows raised at this. Then his eyes widened.
"Wait! Stop! It's a-"
As Superboy landed, Chaos Chimera flipped over him and across and over Black Canary's whose eyes followed his movements and widened. Her scream hit Super Boy, who screamed in pain as he covered his ears. Black Canary stopped her attack.
"Sorry, Conner, I-"
Chaos Chimera then used both hands with a few fingers each, striking either side of Black Canary's neck. She gasped as she hit the ground.
"Damn, nerve strikes."
Green Arrow grunted as he pulled an arrow from his quiver. Using his mouth, he pulled back the drawstring of the bow and drew the arrow. He then fired. Chaos Chimera grabbed it with his right hand. Then tossed it in the arrow, the foam that he had taught Red Arrow to use to morph around and immobilize targets formed in the air and hardened as it fell to the ground. Chaos Chimera caught it with one hand before dropping it to the ground. Green Arrow's eyes narrowed. He threw his arm back to grab another arrow, but the ninja threw a shuriken forward which struck the arrow and caused it to spew the knockout gas. Green Arrow coughed and fell unconscious.
"Enough of this! Wonder Girl! Now!"
Superboy and Wonder Girl lunged forward, the latter having gotten the lasso off her still immobilized arm. Chaos Chimera slid to the side, moving between them both as they tried to tackle him. They both landed at either side. The ninja stood with his arms behind his back.
"This is pointless. Apokolips is coming and you waste all our time with this attack."
Superboy's eyes narrowed.
"Taking down a threat is never a waste of time."
The hybrid rushed forward, throwing a haymaker. But the ninja caught his fist and sighed.
"Very well."
The ninja threw his other hand forward, using a Tiger Claw Strike and sent Superboy flying back. Wonder Girl shouted as she lunged again. Chaos Chimera caught her wrist with one hand.
"We won't stop, Drew, till we save you."
"I think what you're doing here, Wonder Girl, isn't saving."
He moved her arm up with his hand then used a few fingers from his other hand to strike two different places along her arm. The young demigoddess's eyes widened at this then narrowed at Chaos Chimera.
"Not fair!"
Chaos Chimera put both hands behind his back. Wonder Girl grumbled and rushed forward then kicked out with her right leg. The ninja slid under the attack and sweep kicked her other leg, knocking her to the ground. Superboy bellowed as he leapt from where he was, falling towards the young shifter. Chaos Chimera moved in a blur of speed, his left hand struck out completely flattened and hit Superboy's waist. The other hand flew towards and struck Superboy's solar plexus with an open palm strike.
Superboy cried out in pain and surprise as he flew back and hit the ground. He tried to get up, but fell back and was knocked out. Wonder Girl grunted as she leapt forward, striking with one foot. The ninja turned sideways, avoiding the kick then struck out with one hand against Wonder Girl's neck. The nerve strike knocked her down. Both Black Canary and Wonder Girl grunted where they laid, unable to get up.
Chaos Chimera sighed and started to walk off.
"Drew!"
The young shifter turned. Beast Boy stood up, hands up.
"I can't let you walk away."
Chaos Chimera sighed.
"As you wish."
Beast Boy grunted then shouted as he turned into a tiger. He roared as he lunged forward. Chaos Chimera lunged forward, shifting into a tiger as well. Both roared as they clashed. Beast Boy's eyes widened at hearing and feeling the therian's roars. They vibrated through his body and he gasped at feeling their power. Chaos Chimera grunted as he dodged a paw swipe from Beast Boy then grabbed the loose skin around his neck with his mouth and slung him across the ground.
"Enough Gar! Stop this!"
"No! I will save you!"
Beast Boy shifted into a Triceratops and charged forward. The therian's eyes widened before he shifted into a Triceratops as well and they both met in a fierce clash. Both bellowed as they pushed against each other.
"You can turn into prehistoric animals now! Good! You will need such strength for what's to come!"
Beast Boy bellowed as he pushed back, but couldn't move his opponent. He shifted into a bird and flew around the other shifter who turned back. Beast Boy bellowed as he shifted into a gorilla and lunged forward. Chaos Chimera backflipped, dodging the two fists as they hit the earth below. The therian shifted into a black leopard and snarled as he lunged forward. One paw slammed against Beast Boy's face sending him skidding back before Chaos Chimera lunged forward again. Another paw strike hit Beast Boy's face and sent him onto his back.
The green shapeshifter turned into a rhino and charged forward. But Chaos Chimera shifted into a snake and slithered around the stamping feet. Beast Boy turned, shifting into a tiger again and lunged with a roar. Chaos Chimera turned into a tiger again and slammed into Beast Boy, sending him flying back. The green shapeshifter grunted as he shook his head then snarled as he threw a paw swipe. Chaos Chimera ducked under the attack and lunged, his jaws taking hold of Beast Boy's throat though only the skin and with no teeth touching him.
Beast Boy hit the ground, one of his opponent's paws on his head.
"That's enough, Gar! It's over!"
Beast Boy grunted as he shifted into a snake and slithered out of the way before turning into a ram. He grunted as he raced forward. Chaos Chimera roared as he lunged, knocking down Beast Boy. The therian growled as he circled Beast Boy. The green shifted quickly into a gorilla once again and lunged at his opponent. But Chaos Chimera bellowed and threw one paw forward, sending Beast Boy onto his stomach and reverting back to his normal form. Beast Boy groaned where he laid. Chaos Chimera shifted back sighing.
"Drew. We escorted them safely back and will be at your location in a couple of minutes. What of your guests?"
"All unconscious or immobilized. I'll head to you. BioShip no doubt sent a distress call to the others, more will be here soon."
"Understood."
Chaos Chimera started to jog away.
"This isn't over, Drew."
He turned, seeing Black Canary grunting where she laid.
"I know, Dinah."
Black Canary's expression softened at this. The therian then jogged away.
"Drew! Drew!"
Chaos Chimera was almost a football field away and into another clearing in the woods. Above him the invisible jet's side doors opened. Chaos Chimera leapt inside. The doors closed. Ulva, Frida, and Konrad turned to him with the first speaking.
"We know this will only continue. You still must learn and discover on your own. There will be more missions."
Chaos Chimera sighed as he sat down in one of the chairs before looking at the trio.
"I know. For now, let's go home."
The jet took off.
