Chapter 2 The Truth
Historia's POV:
"Eren!" Just after I hung the medal around Eren's neck, he kissed my hand as the other scouts did. But just then, I feel some sort of electrical shock, and Eren falls unconscious on the ground.
Every one of the scouts is panicking, as I quickly kneel and try to shake him. "Eren! Are you alright?"
"Damn it, Eren? Why did you have to faint right now..." Captain Levi mutters with slight annoyance as I call two of the Military Police to bring him to the bed nearby.
The award ceremony was cut off because of the sudden accident, Mikasa and I decided to stay by Eren's side while the others are trying to calm the public because of the news.
"Why now?" I frown as I look at Eren's unconscious body, Mikasa is glaring at me and she asks, "You did something to Eren, didn't you?"
"How would I do anything? He was doing the same thing as all of you!" I retort back. "If I did something, then you guys would also be in the same state as Eren as well!"
"Calm down, you two." Armin says. "The Queen has no reason to hurt Eren, Mikasa. You should've known it."
"But..." Mikasa hesitates, and we hear coughing as Eren is slowly waking up.
"Eren! You're awake!" I hug Eren and he seems to be groaning a little. Mikasa breaks our hug and says, "Eren, how are you feeling now?"
"Never been better..." Eren mutters as he starts to sit up. "Why am I here? What's going on?"
"Eren... you passed out during the Medal awards ceremony." I say. "We manage to bring you here."
As he turns to me, I realize that something's not right... his eye, one of them has changed black color. Mikasa and Armin also notice it and Armin says, "Eren! Your eye! What happened?"
"My eye? Oh..." Eren says as he touches his black eye. "I don't know if you're going to believe me... but when I was unconscious, I met the Founder Ymir."
This causes the three of them to widen their eyes in shock. "The Founder... no way..." Historia gasps in shock.
"What did she say to you?" Mikasa asks. "It has to be because of the Founding Titan inside you, right?"
"She has been wandering in the paths for over 2000 years... she has been yearning for a person to save her." Eren says, for some reason, his tone starts to become a little cold. "She chose me because I am the current Founding Titan..."
"Save her? How are you going to save her?" I ask with confusion, and suddenly, Eren, Mikasa, and I are now standing in another place, there is a starry sky, and a giant field of sand.
"Eren? Where are we and where's Armin?" Mikasa asks.
"The two of you are the only ones I can trust with the information right now, I am not ready to tell others yet. Founder Ymir shows me all kinds of future, which turns out to be one of my Attack Titan's abilities."
"Future?" I ask with confusion.
Just then, Eren shows us a future where he becomes a giant titan, all the walls collapse, and the Colossal Titans within them begin to march and trample everyone outside of the world, Mikasa and I can't believe what we're seeing.
Eren says, "This is why Reiner and the others broke the wall and my mother was dead... they want to retake the Founder so we wouldn't be able to do this against them. However, if the outside world manages to have this, it also has a chance that they might use them against us as well. Just like how they use our people against us as well."
"No way! It has to be a joke, right?" I ask with horror in my eyes. "You won't do that, right? Not everyone outside of Paradis Island is our enemy! Some of them would become victims just like your mother!"
"This is just one of the futures that I've seen." Eren says with a slightly cold tone. "If doing this will ensure the safety of all of you, then I'm still going to do this. Now let's see this one, this is the future where I didn't do the Rumbling."
Then he shows us another future, and much to our shock, we saw the other nations gathering together and a man is on the stage, he yells, "It's time to join as one and face this dreadful enemy! Lend me your strength, those of you who wish to live! Those of you who wish for a future! If we work together, we can overcome any obstacle in our way! I want you to join me in the fight against the devils of Paradis Island! Here and now, as representative of the Marleyan Government, to the enemy forces of Paradis... a declaration of war!"
Just then, all of the nations cheer, and they start to attack our island with all kinds of weapons. I can see the children from my orphanage crying as the home is destroyed and how they are killed by some weapons that are shot from the air, and it is not just them, but Connie, Jean, Armin, Mikasa, and others are also trying to fight against the Titans, but eventually, they are killed when one Titan creates a lot of spikes on the ground and hits them. Paradis Island becomes hell.
Eren says, "I would prefer the first outcome if that means all of those who killed our children and all of the people won't try to attack our island. If we lose we die, if we win we live. If we don't fight, we won't win."
"But that's still unfair..." Mikasa frowns.
It really is unfair, the world wants to get rid of us... and the first king also doesn't want us to stay alive...
"Mikasa, there was also one thing that I forgot to mention." Eren says with a frown, and he shows us the first future again, but we saw that Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, and Captain Levi are working with Reiner, Annie, and the Cart Titan while fighting the Rumbling, and just as Armin's transform destroys Eren's Titan, we saw that Eren was now a Colossal Titan, and Jean, Connie, and all the other Eldians also turn into Pure Titans.
"No..." I gasp in horror, and then we saw Mikasa, who wraps her scarf and charges into Eren's mouth, and after a second, Eren's Titan falls to the ground, and what emerges from it, is Mikasa, holding Eren's head.
Mikasa covers her mouth with tears coming out from her eyes, "I... I killed you..."
"And it was the right choice." Eren frowns, "I knew this was going to happen, that's why I decided to say mean words to you, letting you hate me so that you could kill me in the end like this."
"It can't be... I refuse to do that..." Mikasa says with sobs.
"Indeed... we can't accept this!" Historia says.
"That's why we need to come up with a plan... Founder Ymir also can't accept this plan, since she also wants me to live and free her. My eye color changed must have meant that Founder Ymir is watching through my eye." Eren says.
"Of course, we'll think about a plan." I assure him. "We will definitely save our island and change the future."
Mikasa says, "Maybe we should try to negotiate with them."
Eren frowns, "The world wants us to be the source of evil, that is their way of having peace. They won't negotiate with us. In those futures, we did try to negotiate with them, but all but one refuse to negotiate with us. And the only reason why one agrees to negotiate with us is because of our resources and... Mikasa."
"Me?" Mikasa asks with confusion. "Why me?"
"You'll understand two years later." Eren says.
I say, "Maybe we should ask the Survey Corps about what you said. Surely they will understand your pain, right?"
"No, don't." Eren suddenly yells, much to our surprise, he says, "I mean... I don't trust them with the information. They don't have the means to do what is necessary."
"Not even Armin?" Mikasa asks.
"Sorry, Mikasa. For now on I don't trust anyone except you two." Eren says. "Four years later and before the Rumbling happens, the military will have their own Titan serum and find someone to eat me. Just like how the empire used to persecute the Ackermann family. And sad to say, even Armin agrees with their choice."
"No... he won't! He's our best friend..." Mikasa mutters.
"I want to believe he won't, but no matter how many futures that I've seen, it leads to the same result! I have to kill Premier Zachary and use the spinal fluid on all the Garrison and Military Police to survive! Who in the right mind will want to do something like that?"
Mikasa and I realize how much Eren is suffering, I decided to say, "Eren... back at my family's church, I could have used the Titan serum and taken your powers, but I refused, because I swear that despite being the enemy of humanity, I'm still your ally. We will still try to think about a plan, but what do you want us to do if we go in your way?"
Eren says, "Founder Ymir manages to lift all the curses and vows in my titan. That means I won't die after 8 years, and I can use the full power of the Founding Titan."
This causes Mikasa to be delighted. "That's great!"
"I wanted to save my father's comrades, those who are still wandering out of the walls as Titans. I want to return them back to humans and have them live in Shiganshina for the time being. That is if they're willing to cooperate."
"That sounds like a plan that we can do." I say. "But you can use the full power of the Founding Titan... does that mean the Rumbling..."
"Yes, I can do it just now and eliminate the other nations outside the world. Or I could just make them disappear so that our people will be killed in the second future that we've seen." Eren frowns.
Mikasa says, "But you won't do that right now, right?"
"Of course not. I still want to try negotiations first." Eren says. "Reiner and the others are probably having a war with other nations. But none of them will be able to use the full power of the Titans."
"Full power of the Titans? What do you mean by that?" I ask with confusion.
"We will explain this the other time..." Eren says as suddenly, all of us are now back in Eren's room. Armin notices our shocked faces and asks, "Your highness? Eren? Mikasa? What's going on?"
Eren says, "Nothing. By the way, Armin. Can you tell Commander Hange that I'm fine? I have some private matters that I need to talk about with Historia and Mikasa."
"Okay..." After Armin leaves, Eren says, "We did talk for a long time, but in truth, it is only a second pass."
One second? That's ridiculous. Eren says, "We'll talk about this for another time, I think I need some rest after processing all those things..."
Mikasa and I nod and then the two of us decide to leave the room.
