Chapter 4

Mikasa's POV:

When Eren grabs my hand and take me to his room, I was really confused as to what he was about to do. And ever since he unlocks some sort of time manipulation ability, his speed is faster than mine as well.

"Eren? Why did you bring me here?" I decide to ask, and Eren sighs.

"I'm sorry, Mikasa. I just want to talk to you alone." Eren says.

Talk to me alone? Is he going to do that? But I'm not ready yet... I...

"Mikasa... when I passed out this morning, I told you about the future memory thing, right? The outside world sees us as devils who can turn into Titans and they will kill us without a care in the world. I used to think that outside the walls was freedom, but it's just more death..."

"I'm sure we'll find a way to get through all of this, Eren." I say.

When Eren told me about the future, all I feel is agony and pain. Me? Kill Eren? How could I do it? Why would he make me do this? This has to be a joke... I promised his mother that I will protect him, and I don't want to lose more family...

"Mikasa... do you know I have an aunt?" I look at him with confusion, all I know is that Dr. Yeager is from outside the walls, but he never told me anything about his other family.

"She was murdered when she was 8 years old. She was fed to the dogs just because she left the Internment zone while the police promised that they would take her back home safely. And it was also the same police officer that turned all of my Dad's friends into Titans... this is the world that waits for us all."

"Eren... I'll always protect you from it if I have to. The day my parents were murdered, you saved me and gave me my freedom. I will make sure that you gave me my freedom and I will make sure that you get the freedom that you wish and deserve." I say.

Eren stares at me before he says in a cool tone, "Mikasa... Why do you care so much about me?" Eren asks.

"Eh?" I stare at him in shock.

"Is it because I saved you when you were little? Or is it because I'm your family?" Eren asks.

I start to feel my face becoming red, but the tears are still there, and Eren continues to ask, "What am I to you?"

Should I tell him the truth? But what if he doesn't return the same feelings? No, I'm strong, I'm stronger than anyone... if he doesn't feel the same way, I'm sure I can handle it.

"You're... my family... and also the man that I love..." I say, hoping the worst is coming.

Eren widens his eyes as he looks at me, and he seems to give a little frown. "What do you mean by the man that you love?"

"It's exactly as I said, you are the man that I love... always have been..." I start to regret saying it out loud, but then I notice that Eren sits on the bed beside me.

"Mikasa, I'm happy that you think so about me. However, what if I have another girl who speaks the same thing to me? Will you care about it?" Eren asks me.

I widen my eyes in horror, that means someone likes Eren just like I did... If I have to guess, it probably is Historia... Is she going to take Eren away from me? What if Eren chose her and not me? I feel like I want to go alone, but Eren grabs my hand and stops me.

"Mikasa. Wait, just hear me out before you say anything." Eren says to me. "During these days, I have been struggling to pick either of you, but it is too hard for me to choose because I don't want to break either of your heart. That's why I want to ask if I have another girlfriend other than you?"

I stare at him, I know that Eren is not some sort of playboy. But I have to know if the girl is Historia first... is she the one that tries to steal Eren from me...

"Who is it?" I ask, and Eren seems to notice my disheartening feeling.

"In those future memories, everyone from the 104th including you doesn't support me for using the Rumbling... all but one... and that's... the queen. The queen wants to propose a marriage with me and I will become the King because of it." Eren says.

Queen Historia? So I was right all this time. Both of them have been spending time together just after we joined the Levi Squad, and they have been victims of the old royal family... I know that Eren didn't like to be the one protected, but since we always fight to protect him... only Historia understood how he felt...

"Historia said that after I become a King, she wouldn't mind for me to take another wife... and I really don't want to break either of your feelings..." Eren says slowly, I think he is carefully choosing his words. "If I refuse her, not only I would break her heart, but I would also put her in a dangerous position that she would be treated as a baby-making machine by the other royals. And I don't want that..."

"So you also have feelings for her... how long?" I decide to ask.

"Ever since she dropped the Christa disguise, I really like the real her." Eren says. "She was willing to become the worst girl in the world for me... and...the Founding Titan was originally stolen by her family, it was a way to return the favor."

I stare at him, and I can tell Eren really cares about Historia, but Eren continues, "And you... you are willing to protect me from everything that was going to happen, and you were always by my side...It's just... argh... I really can't choose either one of you..."

"Eren." I decided to squeeze his hand and say, "I want you to be happy. If you think this is the only way of being happy, then I will support you."

"Mikasa..." Eren finally smiles at me, and he pulls me into a hug, "I'm glad you understand."

Eren's POV:

The next day, Mikasa and I decide to visit the queen, we talk about the whole thing and how Mikasa is willing to share.

"But there is also a problem... what would the people think when they learn about this?" Mikasa asks.

"Let's start with the political thoughts. Eren, you are a Titan, and especially the Founder Titan, a Titan that has been passed down through royalty for countless generations. You're basically the king, but most people will still distrust you considering that Titans are our enemy. If things come worse, you will have to force your powers as the Founding Titan on those people to make them agree. And Mikasa, after reading the books left at my father's house, I learned that the Ackermanns were a bloodline of warriors that protected Eldia's king. Your powers cause you to be adored and also to be feared. And for me, I'm just a queen for only a short while and my reign was still seen as a military coup and I'm seen as nothing but a puppet by some. However, with the two of you backing the Royal Government, those who wish to harm us would be against me and the government, and they would better prepare themselves for a bloody war."

Mikasa and I are surprised at how she thinks of the aspects, and it seems that she isn't finished yet. "And besides, Eren. You are the only other Yeager in this world if we don't count the Beast Titan, who destroyed a lot of the scouts during the mission to retake Wall Maria, there isn't any law that stops the king from marrying more than one wife. My mother wasn't the queen but the mistress of my father, but I would be damned if I treat Mikasa like that, with people spreading rumors and talking behind her back. She will also become the queen like me, and it would portray us as a united front."

"But we don't know how to rule and be a king or queen..." Mikasa says.

"Neither did I, but I learned. And I'll be honest, it isn't easy to be a king or a queen as some might think. The decision will affect your subjects but it will become a little less challenging with time. I can also teach you." Historia says.

"And I'll be damned if I become just like the Coward King, who does nothing to the people in the walls and leave them to die from the Titans." Eren says. "I think we all have an agreement?"

The two of them nod as Historia says, "Although I don't want to rush things, Mikasa, is it fine that Eren and I have our wedding first and wait until Eren is being respected as a king that he marries you?"

"I understand." Mikasa says. "I can wait."

"And since we're going to the ocean today, I think it is best to let them know about the news of the wedding first." I say.

Both Mikasa and Historia nod as Historia hugs me, "You really are too kind, Eren."

"I know." I smile at her.

After meeting with the other Scouts, Hange says, "So everyone is here now."

"Sorry, Mikasa and I have some things that we had to do first." I apologize.

Armin says, "It's fine, we all know that the Queen has called you two."

"But this often... I wonder what was going on with you and the Queen." Jean says.

I sigh as we all head to the ocean, because of my Founding Titan powers, the Titans are ignoring me, and I also made up my mind to make all of the Titans back to humans.

We arrive at the sand dunes and we see the wall. "I'm sure of it. This is the place where Eldians were made into Titans. And... beyond that..."

We turn around the corner and we manage to get up a small hill. Just as we reach the top, we finally see it... the giant body of water known as the ocean. The first thing everyone does is play in it.

Connie splashes water on Sasha's face and laughs. "Eyy! My eyes!

Jean drinks a bit of the water. "Damn, it's salty!" Behind him, Sasha rubs her eyes. "...My eyes!"

Commander Hange stands in the water, while Captain Levi stands behind her. "Whohoo! Is this thing seriously all salt water?! Huh? What's that?"

"Hey, Hange! It might be poisonous, so don't touch it." Levi warns.

Armin holds the shell in his hands. Mikasa holds her boots in her hands. "Eep!" She jerks back a little. Armin looks at her. She smiles at him showing her teeth and he smiles widely back at her.

"Look, I told you, Eren! A salt lake where merchants could spend their whole lives and still not get the salt. The stuff I talked about wasn't wrong after all!" Armin says.

"Yeah... it's so damn big..." I say, since I have my Dad's memories, it is not that surprising to me. "I thought that on the other side of the sea was freedom, but I was wrong, on the other side of the sea... are people who want us dead."

I point at the other side of the ocean and ask, "Hey... if we killed our enemies over there... will we be free?"

Mikasa is the only one in the group who knows what I'm talking about, but she promises not to say a word, and the others just stare at me with a frown.
