Chapter 5

Eren's POV:

Everyone is staring at me after I say those words, Mikasa is showing worry and says, "Eren... not everyone beyond the island is our enemy."

I sigh and say, "Forget what I said. Sorry that I ruin the mood, I was just stressed." Then I turn to Commander Hange and say, "Commander Hange, the reason why both Mikasa and I were having a meeting with the queen is that we request a six-month break."

"A six-month break?" Hange asks with surprise. "You and Mikasa?"

Mikasa says, "Eren wants to go alone, but that will only put him in danger, so the queen only agrees if I were there to protect him."

Hange turns to Levi and asks, "What do you think, Levi?"

"Whatever, those two deserved to have a break." Levi mutters.

"But what about us?" Sasha asks, "Did you ask for our break as well?"

"Sad to say, no." I frown. "Because the Survey Corps still need some members to protect the island. Especially since there are only nine of us who survived the battle to retake Wall Maria."

The others understand, and Hange asks, "So if you're taking a break, what are you going to do then?"

Eren says, "We will be staying at Shiganshina helping the people rebuild the houses. And we'll also try to help people in need there."

After some explaining, Commander Hange finally let Mikasa and me go. Once we were out of the Survey Corp's sight, we met up with Historia, and now we're at Wall Maria.

"So should we begin?" Historia asks.

I nod as I let out a scream, and all the Titans are now running toward me. After the rest of the Titans are gathering in one spot, I scream again and all the titans fall to the ground, turning all the Titans back to humans.

"You've done it!" Historia says, "Everyone has become humans again."

Mikasa frowns, "But to think there are also children... how horrible..."

"As long as you're an Eldian, Marley doesn't care if you're children or not." I say. "No, not just Marley, the whole world is the same. That's why the Rumbling is the only way to prevent more of these incidents from happening."

Then the Eldians are slowly waking up, and they look around and wonder where they are. I walk towards them and give cough, and I can see the fear on their faces, probably because we don't have the Eldian Armbands on us and they think we're not Eldians like them.

"There is nothing to be afraid of. You're on Paradis Island. I want to ask if any one of you are Eldia Restorationists?" I ask.

I was prepared to use the powers of the Founding Titan when things go wrong, and I can see a majority of the people tense at the name. Two boys who look the same age as they walk forward, and one of them says, "May I ask who are you?"

I say, "My name is Eren Yeager, this is the Queen of the Walls, Historia Reiss, and this is one of our strongest soldiers, Mikasa Ackermann. We are the ones who freed you from the nightmare known as pure titans."

This causes the Eldia Restorationists to be surprised. The other person says, "Pardon me. Did you say that your last name is Yeager? Does that mean you are related to Grisha Yeager?"

"Grisha Yeager is my father." I say. "I assume that all of you know him?"

Behind the two people in front of us, some of them are growling in anger. One yells, "That means you're related to Zeke, right? It's because of him that we were exposed!"

"Yes, I've learned about that. My father has been regretting it every day. He turned into a pure Titan like you guys, but the Owl saved him by giving him the power of the Attack Titan, one of the nine. After becoming a Titan shifter, my father continued his mission to retake the Founding Titan, he succeeded and entrust both Titans to me, his second son who was born and raised on this island."

The restorationists stare at me. And the boy in front of me asks, "Are you perhaps of royal blood like Zeke?"

"I am not royal blood. After getting inside the walls, my father married my mother after saving her from an epidemic." I say. "By the way, I haven't asked your names."

The other boy says, "My name is Odom Wolff, and this is Peter Fischer. May we ask what year is today?"

Historia replies, "This year is year 851."

"So that means we've been Titans for 19 years." Peter says. "Are these all the people you've gathered? What about the other restorationists? What happened to them?"

"I'm sorry to say that all of you here are all the Eldians that we found outside of the three walls of Paradis Island as pure Titans. I am sorry that the others might have been killed." I frown. "Before we tell you our story, we need to have some outer perspective."

Odom says, "From what we learned with the help of the Owl, we know that the 145th King abandoned all of us and fled to the walls. That's why we want to bring the Founding Titan back so we can restore our pride as Eldians."

"When the 145th king fled into the walls, he used the power of the Founding Titan to wipe out all of the memories of the people inside the walls. History books recording those are also burnt, and those who weren't affected by the Founding Titan were persecuted. Eventually, nobody on the island remembers the Great Titan War and how Titans are made. The king wants us to remember that we are the last humanity and Titans are monsters who will devour any human in the way."

This causes everyone in the Restorationists to be shocked. Historia adds, "However, getting outside of the walls has been a dream for many people in the walls despite the memory wipe. That's why we have the Survey Corps, who try to go outside the walls to learn what's beyond, but their will to survive also causes a lot of pure titans to get killed... And for that, I am deeply sorry."

"My mother, Odom's father, and our comrades...all of them are dead..." Peter frowns. "But then again, maybe it is better, being a pure Titan feels like a nightmare."

"I'm sorry about the death of your family, but please let us finish the story. As we said, those who have knowledge of the outside world were persecuted, so my father decided to hide the information as books in the basement of my house. However, with the regiment of the 145th king trying to kill the Survey Corps, and with Marley taking over Wall Maria, we were forced to overthrow the regiment and chase away our enemies before we can get this information. Our queen here was only a queen for almost a year, and we also chased away the Marley army a few months ago. That's why it took us so long to save you from this nightmare. "I am ashamed of what my ancestors have done to abandon you, but I promise all of you that times have changed, and we're not ignorant anymore." Historia says. "When the 145th king fled into the walls, not only he did do the memory wipe, but he also sets up a vow of renouncing war, prohibiting the Royal Blood from using the full power of the Founding Titan. This causes everyone around them to be delighted, they have the power of the Founding Titan. Eren says, "However, while we are still here talking, the world is still harming Eldians like us around. The only way to stop it is to use the power of the Rumbling. 3 years later, I will be waking up the Colossal Titans in the walls, and they will trample the land outside Paradis Island."

Mikasa and Historia are looking at me with worry, and I was also worried since I don't know how they were going to react. Just then, all of them are roaring in agreement, and Peter says, "The people outside have been terrorizing us Eldians for so long, it is also time to show them who the true devils are."

Mikasa says, "Are you sure you're fine for this catastrophic event to happen? When the Rumbling is activated, billions of people are going to die because of it."

Odom says, "That might sound really terrible, and nobody here can deny that. However, if you think of another way, the Rumbling can have the hatred for Eldians trampled as well. It's true that billions of people will die because of it. Long long ago, there was a time when nothing but mere matter exist in this world, In the teeming ooze, forms of a certain something appeared, disappeared, and appeared again. And one of them eventually survived. We now know it as "Life" The reason that life ultimately survived was that it was in its nature to multiply. Life took new forms in order to multiply, adapting to every kind of environment, and culminating in us, today. Greater numbers, greater diversity, greater abundance, that is why we say that the purpose of life is to multiply."

Now, this gains our attention, and Odom continues, "The stones, the water, they don't seek to multiply, but life never stops in its frantic quest to do so. And death, that is, extinction of the species runs counter to the goal of multiplying. That is why we face the punishment known as fear. To live means to one day die, but the balance will eventually restored by multiplying."

Peter says, "Not to mention, the world is evolving, even though the Colossal Titans would trample the island, they already created weapons to counter those and also flying transportations to escape those, so I don't see why we should worry about this."

The three of us look at one another, and I say, "I'm glad that you're supportive, I was not sure if I can carry the sin of killing all of the people like that..."

Odom says, "Eren, right? You are the Founding Titan, but you are not the one who will kill the people outside. The Colossal Titans are the ones who trample the people outside, you were just the key that opens the door that caused them to move."

Mikasa and Historia are still looking at me with worry, I frown and say, "Thank you, this information really helps us a lot. Since you won't be able to return to Liberio, we will provide you with living places in the district of Shiganshina. Even though we have Historia here as a queen, the authority is still in the hands of the military because of her age and the military coup. Shiganshina is the only place that is not under their control, and both the queen, Mikasa, and I will help you make your stay better."

After that's done, they all head inside Shiganshina, and it is also a good thing that nobody has ventured out of the fields except for them. With the fields, some of the Eldians are farming for crops, while some decide to help build some construction. Peter and Odom have also become our best friends, and both Mikasa and I decide to teach them how to use ODM gears and Thunder Spears. They will be our great allies, I'm sure of that.
