Isabelle covered her ears and ran up to the mercs. "I forgot to mention!" She was shouting through all the cheers and clapping from the other fighters. "The floating glove up there? That's Master Hand! He's our announcer!" Said floating glove waved at the new fighters, all of which nervously waved back.
The noise died down and a certain plumber with a red cap with eyes and blue overalls walked forward.
"Welcome to Smash Bros!" he exclaimed. He held out his hand to greet the group. They all shook his hand with varying levels of enthusiasm. "It's a-me, Mario! It's a very big honor to be invited here, and we are all very glad you made it. If you have any further questions that you forgot to ask Isabelle, you can always ask Master Hand," He gestured to the glove. "Or Mr. Sakurai, who is over there." He signaled to a Japanese man with brown hair. He turned for a moment to wave at them. "They'll be happy to help, so don't be afraid to ask. Thank you so much for joining our tournament, and enjoy our celebration!"
More cheers came from the fighters behind Mario. The new fighters said their thanks and went their separate ways.
Scout immediately went to flirt with the female fighters. Demo and Engie got some drinks and decided to watch Scout inevitably strikeout with all of them.
*a few seconds later*
"Shucks. That might have been the fastest I have seen you get rejected."
"Aw, it was a fine try lad, heh. *burp*"
"This sucks!" Scout complained. "Argh, what are we gonna do now?"
Engie shrugged and handed him a drink. "I'm not completely sure. Hmm, maybe we should make some good first impressions with the other people here. Uh, besides those little ladies you just talked with." Scout glared at him.
"Colorful cast of characters they got 'ere," Sniper said. He walked by two kids with very vibrant orange and blue hair. They held up their hands for a high five. Sniper chuckled and slapped their hands. "Heh, good oneā¦"
Spy nodded. "Yes, that seems to be the case." Looking around, it's painfully obvious that it isn't 1972 in this universe anymore. There were even more anthropomorphic animals around other than Isabelle, and they were even wearing some interesting technology. Even with all the Australium that Australia had at its disposal, they probably hadn't made anything like what the mercs were seeing right now. (then again, they weren't the brightest bulbs in the box in their universe.) He had a few things to think about after this.
Soldier was wandering around and checking out everyone's hats. He never thought that he would be so interested in trading hats before the Gravel Wars, but there he was. "Nice hat!" Soldier shouted.
"Huh?" A plumber wearing green that looked similar to Mario turned around. "Oh, thank you very much!"
"I like the color of it!" The hat was a nicer shade of green compared to the paint buckets that Mann Co. provided. Luigi scratched the back of his head and grinned. He appreciated the admiration. "Wanna trade hats?"
"Wh-what?"
"Trade hats!" Soldier said. "Here's what I'll give ya." He pulled out a Burning Team Captain and offered it to him, not knowing how rare it was. Luigi's eyes widened at the sight of it. Even though the hat was on fire, the hat wasn't getting consumed by the flames.
The plumber was very confused. "Won't it burn up after a while though?"
"No, sir! This veteran has had this hat in his inventory for three years and not a single piece of fabric has been burned off this majestic hat! Anyway, do you want to trade?"
Luigi thought for a bit and eventually decided to swap. He took off his signature hat and donned the Team Captain. Soldier put his helmet away and replaced it with Luigi's hat. "Hey, Mario!" Luigi ran over to his brother.
"Look at what one of the new fighters traded to me! I gave him my hat in return."
"Woah!" Mario gave him a thumbs up.
"Come on, Pyro! Give it here!" Scout hollered. Pyro had some firecrackers that Mann Co. gave him while they were fighting the robots. However, they won the robot war the next day and he didn't get to use them, much to Pyro's dismay. Demo had some other plans though. He had Scout get Pyro's firecrackers and talked with some of the other fighters for some semi-dangerous explosives if they had any. Some of them- no, all of the fighters that he asked were very skeptical of him, especially because his name was literally Demoman. He eventually received a few of them after he said that they were for fireworks, but most of them decided to play it safe so half of the mansion doesn't get completely obliterated. (that didn't stop them from watching though.) He got some Bob-ombs and even a King Bob-omb from Wario, a Smart Bomb from Falco, and 2 Remote Bombs from Link. Engie got the thumbs-up from Master Hand and gave the go-ahead to Demo. Everyone came out a few minutes after.
"You sure you know what you're doing?" Samus raised an eyebrow.
Demo chuckled. "Lass. If I was a bad Demoman, I wouldn't be standing 'ere, blowing these bombs up with ya now would I!" He took out his Sticky Jumper, (he always has this on hand) and fire a few sticky bombs on the ground. He put all of the explosives in a box they found gently and delicately put the box onto the stickies. All of them quickly backed away to a safe distance where none of them could get burned from the explosions.
He detonated his stickies first, and the box flew into the night sky. Surprisingly, none of the explosives fell out during takeoff. Finally, he used the detonator that Link gave him to blow up his remote bombs.
Sparks flew everywhere in the shapes of circles and stars. The Bob-omb's were really the only ones that actually resembled fireworks, but the other explosives were nothing short of magnificent in their own way. Link's remote bombs exploded in pretty sky blue spheres. The Smart bomb screamed through the air as it exploded with Pyro's firecrackers popping after. Oohs and aahs came from the crowd as the last firecrackers fizzled out and fell.
"WOOOOO! WOOOO! WOO!" Demo took a swig from his bottle of scrumpy and suddenly passed out.
"Heh heh, that was one hell of a show ya put on," Engie said as he walked over to Demo. "Oh, hey, nice hat Soldier!"
*30 minutes later*
Isabelle led the mercs to their rooms after the celebration ended. Most of them were pretty tired by now. Heavy had Demo slung over his shoulder and Medic was happily flipping through all of the notes he took on the fighters.
"Zat was fun!"
"It was, wasn't it!? Ah, here we are!" They stopped right behind Isabelle. "You'll be sharing 3 rooms with each other. Hope that's okay for all of you." They nodded. "Great! Annddd I just realized you left your bags at home. Well, we can retrieve them tomorrow. But for now, get some rest for now."
"Thank you. It was nice to meet you, Isabelle." Spy said sleepily.
"It was nice to meet all of you too!" Isabelle smiled and walked off. They figured out who was going to be in each of the 3 rooms and settled down. The room was nicely furnished but none of them hardly cared right now. As soon as each of them got to the bed, they all collapsed and drifted off to sleep.
