Had to change something, sorry for the reupload, mb lol.

The mercenaries have been doing well for themselves in the tournament, with them all having high win-loss records. It was quite a surprise, given that they've never used the tools they've been given.

It could've been all the combat they've been through, and all the damage surfing off of explosives, but those skills didn't really transfer into each other.

Even Spy was winning a lot, and he wasn't too good at one-on-one combat before. However, he did have a lot of time to work on his aim though, and his opponents couldn't strafe left and right besides spot-dodging.

Speaking of Spy, he had a match coming up. However, the rules for this match seemed to be different this time, with Spy having to wear down his opponents' stamina instead of knocking them into the blast zone. He thought it sounded familiar…

Funnily enough, his opponent for this match used to be a mercenary as well. Solid Snake, a former soldier, and spy of FOXHOUND was famed for destroying every new Metal Gear that came along. A tough opponent indeed.

Spy made it down to the teleporters when it was time, but he didn't see Snake there. He checked around for a few minutes before traveling to Final Destination.

Spy made his entrance by simply uncloaking when he arrived. Snake popped up out of nowhere after his camo gear shorted out while he was on the ground, crackling with electricity.

"Kept you waiting, huh?" Snake said… as always. The announcer counted them down….

GO!

Both fighters took out their weapons. Spy took out his revolver and fired at him, getting two weak hits due to the distance between them. Snake took out a grenade, pulled the pin, and hurled it at Spy, making him jump off the stage to avoid the blast. While he was preoccupied, Snake used his codec to gather information on the Frenchman.

*BEEP BEEP*

"Otacon, there's a guy in a suit and ski mask here… did anyone tell him that this isn't the bank?"

"That's the Spy, Snake."

"The Spy?"

"His name is confidential, and that's what his teammates call him. Anyway, he used to work for RED, which was a demolition company. However, that job was just a cover for a war being held between the owners of RED and BLU, another cover company. He specializes in using his invisibility cloak and disguise kit to get behind enemy lines to take them down."

"Disguise kit?"

"Yes, he uses his disguise kit to impersonate his enemies, tricking them into letting him get behind enemy lines, and then picking them off once they let their guard down."

"...sounds like some kind of backstabber."

"Well, yeah. That's his entire thing. Wait, am I even talking to the real Snake right now?

"Otacon…"

"He could be you, he could be me! He could even be-"

"AGHH!"

"Snake?!"

Spy somehow got behind Snake and got him with an Ambassador headshot. He didn't go for the backstab because Snake might have turned around for no reason. (it happened all the time during his time at RED). Snake reeled from the hit, letting Spy follow up on his attack. He ran toward Snake with his butterfly knife and took multiple stabs at him. He then gracefully spun around Snake while he was stunned from a good hit and stabbed him in the back, sending him flying.

Spy swept some dust off his suit as he watched Snake fall away. He chuckled as he flicked away his used cigarette. Spy got back on stage by grabbing onto his Cypher. Spy was prepared for more grenades, but he was quickly met with a tranquilizer dart in his arm. He immediately fell asleep, taking a knee.

Of course, Snake quickly dashed towards him and rolled into him, waking him up instantly and knocking him forward. Snake then seamlessly slammed down a mortar as he got back on his feet and fired it, nailing Spy with a bomb.

He grunted in pain as he rose into the air. He regained balance and surfed the damage to get away from Snake, landing on the opposite end of the stage, putting them into the same situation they started in, just with less stamina.

This time, Snake decided to keep a close eye on his opponent, watching if he had any other tricks up his well-tailored sleeve. (aside from his disguise kit). However, Spy wasn't planning on using any of his tricks, not yet, anyway.

He tried a getting positional advantage by bringing his revolver out again, inching closer and denying more and more of Snake's space on the stage with each shot.

Snake tried to strike back, parrying his shots and weaving his way through them. He broke through the stream of bullets and rolled behind Spy. He choked him from behind and tossed Spy off the stage. He barely grabbed the ledge of the stage, but Snake was already there to meet him. With a rocket launcher in hand.

He aimed it directly at Spy, forcing him to let go of the ledge. Seeing this, Snake went back to the middle of the stage while Spy activated his Travel Agent backpack, flying up to land back onstage. He looked around to see that Snake wasn't there… The only thing that was there on the stage was…

Just a box…

Spy narrowed his eyes as he looked around. There didn't seem to be anywhere he could hide… But still, there's no way he's actually hiding under the box, right? Sure, Spy's done it himself before, but he actually tried to blend in with the environment. This box is just in plain sight! Spy turned around to double-check if he wasn't hiding anywhere else.

As soon as he did though, Snake threw off the cardboard box and planted a C4 onto his back. Spy quickly turned around to see Snake knock him into the air. Snake skidded to a stop and detonated the C4, blowing Spy up and launching further up into the air.

Spy flopped back down onto the stage, slowly getting up. He saw Snake take out his Nekita, and at that point, Spy decided that he had enough of this, and he decided to ditch the zoning tactics. He pulled out his Crit-charged Diamondback and shot the weapon out of Snake's hands.

He threw his own gun away and pulled out his Kunai. "Let's settle this like gentlemen!" he said, feeling the energy drain from his body. Snake grunted in response, putting his fists up.

Both of them were pretty even in hand-to-hand combat, whenever one of them would try to strike or stab the other, they would just dodge it, or block and redirect their attack. Snake was very careful not to let Spy get behind him at any point in case he might get another backstab.

They slowly wore each other down, each successful hit cutting deeper than the last. Due to his Kunai, Spy started to run out of gas much earlier than the super soldier. Snake realized this and decided to throw everything he's got at him. Spy couldn't keep up with his attacks and his defense eventually broke down.

Mistiming a parry, he took a blow to the chest, sending his ragdoll skating across the stage.

"AGH!" he growled as he got hit. Snake sighed and took out of cigarette of his own.

"Piece of cake."

He lit his cig-

"AGGH! AGH! Agh…"

"Stop kidding arou- Snake? SNAAAAAAAKE!"

GAME OVER

At least for Snake anyway…

Spy closed his Dead Ringer and secured it back in his suit. He put away his Kunai as well.

This game's winner is:

Spy brushed the dust off of his suit with his revolver in hand.

"Oh, dear…"

SPY!

"I've made quite a mess…" Snake was there too, clapping for Spy with his back turned.

Spy made it back to the mansion to be met with a Dragonite with a mailbag. The Dragonite handed him a box with a letter attached to it. Spy took it from him, said his thanks, and watched the mailman fly off elsewhere. He then read the letter.

Congratulations on your 25th win! As a reward, you got a new weapon!

Spy opened the box to see that the new weapon was a flintlock pistol. He nodded as he picked it up and inspected it, twirling it in his hand.

"Hmm, not bad."

Bonus:

"You're pretty good," Snake stated later on.

"Oh, thank you," Spy responded. "You're not too bad yourself."
