Chapter 18 Different approaches

Carla's POV:

How long haven't I met Keith? I heard that after my so-called death, he retires as the Captain of the Survey Corps and train the trainees instead. He's also the one who taught my son, Mikasa, and the others after they joined the corps.

When I opened the door, the trainees and Keith are looking at me. Keith is looking at me with shock. "Carla... is that you?"

I say, "Long time no see, Keith, I see you're still the same as always."

"But how? You were eaten by a Titan..." Keith looks at me.

"I am a Titan shifter, I guess that explains why I would be able to become the 11th Survey Corps' Leader." I say. "I was grateful that you helped me lie about me being eaten by the Titan, but I'm here with the orders from the King and Queen."

I turn to Floch, who says, "Commandant Shadis, since Titans aren't the real problems for the island since Eren Yeager can control them of his free will, our enemy is people with weapons. That's why we need the new recruits to learn the new weapons made by our ally nations."

This causes everyone in the new recruits to be shocked. I say, "Keith, as much as you don't like it, the times have changed. I think it is time for you to retire and leave the Training Corps to the Eldia Military."

Keith looks a little crestfallen, and he says, "I see... however, I have some questions I need to ask in private, is that okay?"

"Of course. I'll leave the new recruits to you, Floch, Louise, and Katrina." I say.

"You can count on us." Katrina says as Shadis and I are now talking in a different room.

When we sit down, he asks, "When Grisha and I heard your death from Eren's mouth, we were devastated, and not long after, I found Eren alone, and he seemed to have eaten his father for the Titan powers. But you were alive this whole time, how?"

I say, "My family has been Titans for centuries. We have a Titan known as the Deceiver Titan. The Deceiver Titan can create duplicate forms, so I could battle both as a Titan and as a human. On the day when Wall Maria broke, I was in my Titan form since I sense other Titan shifters, however, my human self was being devoured by the Titan. Since you all thought I'm dead, I know I can't just show up in front of you. That's why I've been staying outside of Wall Maria, along with three other Titan shifters like me, we set up new walls, living there for years until my son and the queen found our hideout."

"Okay... but I also heard about Pyxis, Zachary, Hange, and the military having been arrested. And I have been hearing that your son is now the King of the island. Can you tell me why this happens and what is Eren's plan?"

I say, "After learning the truth of how there are humans like us living outside the world, Eren and Mikasa are sent to try to negotiate peace with the other nations. There are a number of 13 nations outside of the island, but only 3 are willing to have peace with us, while the 10 are plotting to team up together and destroy our home. After his return, the military is trying to take away his power for themselves, and they didn't give the citizens an explanation of why they're detaining Eren. Eren will do anything to protect the island, even if that means using the power of the Rumbling to trample the people outside of the islands."

"And do you think it's the right thing to do?" Keith asks, and I sigh, "None of us think is the right thing, but what choice do we have? The old Military is disbanded and now the Eldia Military will be the true military for our island. And the government will be formed at the alliance of the 13 Titan families, my family is also one of them."

Keith says, "I'm really glad that you are still alive. If you think what you're doing is the right choice, then I'm not going to stop all of you. The people support the current Eldia military, but I don't have the enemy in me to live out the rest of my years shitting outdoors on some lonely mountain. However, I just wish one thing from you, don't lose sight of yourselves."

"I'll keep that in mind." I say as I decide to leave, but seeing Keith making the salute, I slowly smile and salute back.

Eren's POV:

We bring Zeke as we arrive at Nicolo's Restaurant, Sasha's group is still there, and so are Gabi and Falco. Everyone bows at me, and Gabi seems terrified now that she sees me.

"Relax, I'm not going to harm you." I say. "Nicolo, is there a room for meetings?"

"Yes, we have an empty one upstairs." Nicolo replies.

"Good, now we wait for my Mom's group and we'll have our meeting." I say.

"But what about Queen Historia?" Clive asks.

"Queen Historia will be joining us since she's pregnant, she won't be here technically, but the Stamer Nation provides us something called phones, she'll be able to talk and listen to us."

Everyone nods, and after my Mom's group arrives, the thirteen of us are now in the meeting. In the Reiss Farm, Elizabeth, Hideyoshi, and Taka are with the queen as they manage to help Historia use the gadget so they can start the meeting.

Falco's POV:

When Zeke shows up, we are surprised, then Gabi starts to ask, "Zeke... why did you betray Marley? We have been fighting together and why?"

Zeke sighs and says, "My parents are Eldian Restorationists, you should've known that as well."

"But didn't you betray them and sent them to Paradis? And that also includes my uncle as well..." I ask, "If you were never on Marley's side this whole time, why did you send them to Paradis Island?"

"That sure is a good question." Zeke replies. "I'm doing this for my grandparents, and for myself. I was never one to be the Warrior when training, I might have betrayed my parents, but I still share the same goals as them. That's why after I met my brother for the first time, I decided to help Paradis instead."

"But your grandparents are still alive, right? What if Marley found out-" Zeke cuts me off and says, "I actually don't care about them anymore, they are already bed-ridden and they probably don't have much time to live. I still blame them for my aunt's death, and I also blame them for believing in lies made by Marley. I knew that the history told by my father was right the whole time."

"Even you..." Gabi seems to be shaken at what Zeke said, and Zeke says, "I'm also as surprised as you when I found out that my brother has become the king of both Eldia and Hizuru at the same time. I was the one who introduce Hizuru to them, but never thought they would find a lost descendent here and that girl also marries my brother."

Eren's POV:

"Historia, can you hear me?" I ask.

"Loud and clear." Historia replies from the phone, and we finally start the meeting. "Now, the major problem we have is the Rumbling. According to the Founder Ymir, the Rumbling is bound to happen. But having the Titans trample the outside world will only cause more conflict... I want our enemies to be eliminated so that our island will have a chance to survive."

"There are 10 nations that are against us." Gloria says. "What if we use other methods to eliminate our enemies? And if the Rumbling needs to happen, then we'll let them trample the empty lands instead."

Historia asks, "And what is the plan?"

Aya says, "Sometimes, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, and natural disasters can be murderers."

Katrina widens her eyes and says, "Hey! Are you going to make me the mass murderer for billions of people instead? I am not going to agree with this plan."

"I'm not saying that you should be the one doing this." Aya says. "We can change the Colossal Titansin the walls into Weather Titans and Sky Titans, by hiding in the skies, nobody will be able to see that the Weather Titans are the ones who do the damage."

"And besides, we of the Stamer Nation have been creating a new weapon. It's called the Nuclear Bomb."

"Nuclear Bomb?" I ask.

"They work similarly to the Colossal Titan's transformation." Taka says. "We can also have them throw the bombs from the sky."

"That sounds cruel..." Sasha remarks.

"And in the Schonheit Nation, there is a sleeping volcano. If we also make it active, the lava will also kill a lot of people." Louise says.

"And maybe we can have the Beast Titan use the animals in the Afrika nation to kill the people as well." Floch adds.

I frown and say, "Now we're thinking about how to make genocides... we really are the devils, aren't we?"

After the discussion, we decide that there are going to be 10 ways to ruin different nations. For Porzellan, fissures are going to happen. Indien will have the virus spread. Zweiflusse will be flooded, Irak will reach the highest temperature, Agypten will be destroyed by tornados and hurricanes. Engel will be destroyed by blizzards and snow. Schonheit will be destroyed by lava, Afrika will be the animal attacks, Sudlich will be the famine and the power cut-off, and finally, the nuclear will be for the Marley.

And after the other nations are destroyed, Wall Rose's Colossal Titans will begin their march, and I will also eliminate all Titans in Wall Sina into thin air so that the damage control of our island will be less."

Everyone nods, and then we decide to talk about how to deal with the old military who are arrested. Some say that they want them to be dead because of their lack of contribution to the island, while some say that we should let them go but they will never step foot in the military again. Of course, Mikasa, Historia, and I agree with the second plan, but we also ask if they want to help the new Eldia.

Once the meeting's over, it is already night time and we are back at Shiganshina's old home. I close my eyes, and I see Founder Ymir by my side. "Papa..."

"Ymir... do you think I'm doing the right choice? Using other methods to ensure the safety of our island?" I ask, Ymir just stares at me and says, "As long as I'm freed, I don't care.
