Chapter 2: Lost and Forgotten
I remember when I first saw his aeon, I was amazed by its powerfulness but I was also afraid because that was then I realized, Seymour was more powerful than I ever dreamed to be. The young boy I remember when I first met him, was not the same but I suppose we all change when we grow up, don't we?
Kya spent most of the day feeling in a daze after the incident in she reached the area of operation Mi'ihen, where the crusaders and Al Bhed will attempt to stop Sin, she felt exhausted. The sun was starting to set, Kya stood at the ledge overlooking the battlefield, staring at the dark sea, she felt as if something ominous was heading her way. Suddenly, the sounds of the gentle ocean waves and the orange hues painting the sky didn't feel comforting to her anymore. She started to question herself as a High Priestess if it was even the correct choice for her. How can she be seen as wise and powerful if she feels afraid and weak? She was startled when she felt someone squeezing her shoulder gently, spinning around ready to attack, Kya paused with a scowl on her face. "My apologies, I didn't mean to frighten you. Is everything alright?" Seymour questioned her, appearing to be concerned and maybe he was but Kya didn't feel as if he was. Over the last couple of years, she felt as if they drifted apart as friends but she still viewed him as her brother. He even annoyed her as an older brother would. "I'm fine, just tired." She replied, twisting the blue rope tied around her black skirt. The petite female was dressed in a black skirt with a high slit on both sides, her blonde hair resting on her shoulders and she wore a thin gray shirt with the sleeves flowing down her small arms, the color of the sleeves darkening into a black color at her fingertips. Despite dressing in elegant clothes, she fought to make sure she could wear combat boots because she didn't want to be seen as the traditional High Priestess. "You should rest, Kya. I heard that Lady Yuna and her guardians may be traveling through here. You should offer your guidance to her. Perhaps train her so that she and her aeons are stronger to face Sin." Seymour advised. Kya almost started to argue but instead, she gave a nod then excused herself to rest. That night, Kya was restless. Although her body was exhausted, her mind was not. She kept wondering what she would say to Yuna after ten years. Would Yuna remember her? Kya never forgot her and it had seemed to nearly everyone in Spira knew who the daughter of Lord Braska was but hardly anyone heard of Kya until a few days ago when she was announced as High Priestess.
No, don't go! Don't go!
"Don't go!" Kya screamed as she jerked up, feeling her body covered in sweat. She had been dreaming about the last time she saw her parents then the last time she had saw her uncle. However, she didn't have the time to sit and dwell on the past. "Lady Kya, our guests will be arriving soon." She heard Seymour warn her outside of the tent. "I'm getting ready now." Kya shouted as she put on her boots then went outside as she was greeted by the scene of soldiers preparing their weapons and Seymour along with Kinoc supervising them. "I'm awake." Yawned Kya as she joined the two men. Kinoc sighed and looked at her. "Kya, there's something you should know." He had started to talk but was interrupted by a messenger. "Lady Yuna and her guardians have arrived, sir!" A dark skinned male named Gatta, salutes. "Allow them in." Kinoc orders. "I suppose you will find out soon for yourself, Kya." Kinoc looks away. Kya was curious about what Kinoc wanted to tell her but she figured she'd find out sooner or later. It could wait. Turning to join Seymour, she froze when she heard Kinoc.
"I'd heard from Seymour, but I didn't know if we'd actually meet. Good to see you, Auron! Ten years, is it?" Kya couldn't believe what she was hearing and suddenly she felt angry at Seymour for not telling her. Was that who she thought she saw the day they had arrived in Luca? Kya recalled during her short stay in Luca, hearing rumors but she had assumed that maybe it was an imposter, pretending to be him or maybe she was in denial during the time. Still, he left ten years ago. He never returned. Kya felt a lump in her throat as she clenched her fists. She wanted answers and she wanted them right away. "Tell me, Auron. Where have you been the last ten years?" Kya heard Kinoc ask as she stayed at the ledge, staring into the sea that seemed darker than yesterday. The High Priestess wanted to know where he had been after all this time. He made a promise to her and broke it. The uncle she remembers, never was the one to break a promise, it was the code of a warrior he once said, to never let others down. She wasn't sure how to react but she wanted to know. There was so much Kya wanted to know.
"We don't have time for this now, do we?" She heard Auron question Kinoc, sounding impatient. Turning towards Seymour, she wanted to ask him for guidance. Kya felt like the little lost girl again she was when Seymour found her at the edge of Bevelle. She remembered he had seen her crying, Seymour took a moment to listen to her as she struggled to explain everything through her tears and hiccups. When Jyscal, his father, approached the two, Seymour explained everything. "Father, she had lost her family. What shall we do?" The young blue haired male asked as Jyscal stood there, staring at the small child. Finally, he bent down to her level. "What is your name child?" Kya wiped her tears and replied, "Kya." Jyscal looked at Seymour then back to Kya. "Very well, we shall take you into our home. You'll become part of the Guado family." Jyscal smiled, patting her head.
That was ten years ago, the day when Sin was defeated, Kya remembered. She sighed, feeling the knot in her chest slowly loosen as she took a deep breath. "Kya, you seem troubled." Seymour noticed Kya staring into space as she usually did when she was stressed, he walked closer, it was the first time in a while since their travel to Luca, she heard him address her as who she was, not as a High Priestess. "You didn't tell me about Auron." She kept her voice quiet as she looked down. "I didn't want to distract you from your duty. I wanted to protect you." Seymour spoke in a soft voice, then leaned over to whisper in her ear. "Once this is over, there is something I'd like to ask of you." He didn't give her time to respond. She watched Kinoc talk to Auron but she wasn't sure if he would recognize her. When she heard him speak, she knew it was him, but Kya wasn't sure how to approach him. After all, it's been ten years.
Hey, it's me. Your forgotten niece who you promised to return too. I'm okay now, thanks to Seymour and his father. I want to know where you have been all this time.
