The following day, Kakashi, Iruka, Kyuubi and Naruto left to head into town to visit the doctor that Kakashi was talking about.
That left the two Uchiha brothers in the castle. They were in the library, books about demon culture scattered in front of them. Suddenly, Fugaku appeared in front of them and the two brothers looked up at him.
"Did Sasuke tell you the good news about his engagement?" Fugaku smirked at him, pridefully.
Itachi gave a glance to Sasuke before slowly looking back at his father. "Yes. He did."
Fugaku's smirk grew. "Now we can finally get rid of those three weirdos."
Itachi's onyx eyes narrowed in a glare as he felt his blood begin to boil. "I'm in love with Kyuubi, Father. He's not going to leave and you'll just have to accept that."
Fugaku shook his head. "There's something wrong with them. They're not normal. It's like they have a spell over you." He paused as he let his words sink in. His eyes narrowed and he sent a sneer to Itachi. "Those three will leave. Even if that means you go with them." He then turned and stormed his way out of the library.
Sasuke stared in disbelief at where his father was just standing. Itachi rolled his eyes at his fathers dramatics before going back to the book he was reading. He turned to his brother, shocked. "How can you act so calmly about losing your inheritance.
Itachi gave a small shrug, turning the page of the book. "I'm not worried, with the prophecy, everything will fall into place."
Sasuke frowned and shook his head. "You place way too much trust in this prophecy. It's just a fairytale, Itachi. This is real life, with real consequences." He stared down at the books in front of him, a deeper frown marring his face. "Maybe picking Sakura is the better choice."
Itachi let out an irritated sigh as he glared at his younger brother. "Sasuke, you're being ridiculous."
Sasuke gave Itachi a sneer. "Am I? Or am I just being realistic?"
Itachi rested his head against his fist that was now propped on the table. "Imagine your life without Naruto. Since he came into your life, you've been so much more expressive and this is the happiest I've seen you in a while."
Sasuke stayed silent, thinking about his recent nights with Naruto and a small smile appeared on his face. Just as he was about to agree with Itachi, Fugaku's recent words to Itachi flashed in his mind and he once again began to frown. He stood up from his chair and Itachi raised an eyebrow in question. "I just don't know, Itachi."
Without saying anything else, he walked out of the library.
Kakashi, Iruka, Kyuubi and Naruto finally make their way back to the castle. After making their way through the entrance, Itachi met up with them, giving them a wave. "How'd things go?"
"Pretty good if I'd say so." Iruka smiled at him. "How about things here in the castle?"
Itachi frowned and the group frowned with him, already expecting bad news. "My father confronted us in the library today, about how the three of you guys need to leave. I let him know that I wasn't going to let you guys go anywhere, especially since I'm in love with Kyuubi."
At Itachi's casual confession, Kyuubi blushed but let the raven continue.
"He then threatened that they will leave even if that means I go with him. Of course I just brush him off but Sasuke took it more to heart. He's once again on the fence about whether or not he should pick Naruto or Sakura."
Naruto frowned at Itachi's words and he began to feel anxious. "I'm going to go check on Sasuke." Before anyone said anything else, he left, searching for the youngest Uchiha.
His first instinct was to head to the room they shared together but was disappointed to find the room empty. He made his way towards the back of the castle, making his way through the guest wing when he heard voices. He paused and followed the sounds which led him to a room where he peeked through the door to see Sakura and Sasuke.
Sasuke was sitting up in bed, looking relaxed as Sakura was sitting behind him, giving his shoulders a massage. Naruto frowned at the sigh, feeling his heart hurt. He continued to stay hidden, listening in on their conversation.
Suddenly Sakura stopped, wrapping her arms around Sasuke's neck and pressing her chest against his back. "I'm so glad you chose me over Naruto."
Naruto was taken aback at her words and suddenly his chest tightened. He remembered the words that Sasuke said the night before, how choosing Sakura meant that Naruto would leave. His eyes began to water and without hearing the rest of the conversation, ran as fast as he could away from the room.
Both Sakura and Sasuke paused as they thought they heard a noise at the door. Sasuke was quick to reply to Sakura's last words. "I didn't really choose you, I'm still uncertain."
Sakura let out a low growl, unwrapping herself from Sasuke's neck and siting besides him. "Well why would you tell your father yes if you're still unsure?"
Sasuke leaned back on his arms, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm just looking out for my future and appeasing my father to make him happy." He gave a small smile. "I had a conversation with Itachi, and he pointed out how a life without Naruto would be dull and depressing. He might be worth fighting for."
"He might be worth fighting for." Sakura mimicked in a mocking tone. She laughed. "Do you even hear yourself?"
Sasuke turned to her, raising an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Sakura scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest and giving him a pointed look. "Isn't it obvious? He clearly cast a spell over you."
"A spell on me?"
Sakura nodded. "No one naturally has that strong of feelings for somebody they just met. Only demons can have that strong of an enchantment."
Sasuke carefully took in her wors before sitting up straight. "You're right."
Sakura smirked. "Of course I'm right."
Sasuke quickly scrambled out of the bed, surprising Sakura. "I gotta get to Itachi quick, he may be in trouble too." He quickly ran out of Sakura's room in search of his brother.
"Kakashi," Iruka whispered as the silver haired man placed light kisses against his neck. He tilted his head, allowing further access.
Kakashi reached the sensitive area where he tan neck connected to his collarbone and he quickly nipped the spot, receiving a sharp moan out of the brunette. He smirked as he slowly licked the spot.
He made his way back to Iruka's lips, capturing them in a slow yet passionate kiss.
Suddenly the bedroom door burst open and a crying Naruto came running in.
The pair seperated quickly as Naruto threw himself onto the bed.
Iruka hurriedly wrapped Naruto up in his arms as Kakashi let out a frustrated sigh, telling himself to calm down.
"What's wrong, Naruto?" Iruka asked in a soothing tone.
"I-i was trying to look for Sasuke," the blonde began, sniffling in between every other word. "And I found him, with Sakura in the guest rooms. A-and he, he chose her over me!"
Iruka and Kakashi looked at each other in shock as Naruto began to cry harder. Kakashi sat up a little further in the bed. "Are you sure that's what he said?"
Naruto glared up at him from Iruka's side. "Of course I'm sure!" He hissed in anger. "I know what I heard!"
Iruka gave a glare to Kakashi who held up his hands in a surrendering motion.
Kakashi gave a light pat on Naruto's back. "Don't worry too much, Sasuke always comes around after talking with his brother. We'll go find Itachi, tell him what happened and he'll talk some sense back into Sasuke."
Naruto wiped at his eyes. "Okay." He nodded and then scrambled out of the bed and began to walk out the door.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow at Iruka who responded with a shrug before the two of them followed the young blonde.
Naruto hurriedly made his way to Itachi's room. As he turned the corner, he saw Sasuke making his way from the opposite direction.
As soon as Sasuke spotted the blonde, he sneered. "Go away!" He shouted at the blonde.
"Sasuke, please," Naruto began to plead with the raven.
"I know your fucking secret, demon." He hissed in anger.
Naruto was shocked silent as he felt his stomach drop. Instantly, his hands wrapped around his stomach in a protective manner. Did Sasuke find out he was pregnant? And now he was mad at Naruto and wanted nothing to do with him.
"You are demon filth!" Sasuke began to scream, getting closer to Naruto who began to cower in the raven's presence.
Iruka and Kakashi quickly made their way to Sasuke, holding him back from getting closer to Naruto. "Calm down, Sasuke!" Kakashi scolded, struggling to hold the squirming raven.
Suddenly, Itachi's bedroom door is opened and a pissed off Itachi is standing in the doorway, Kyuubi looking on in curiosity. "What the fuck is going on?"
"Stay away from my brother with your demon ways!" Sasuke pulled himself out of Iruka and Kakashi's grasp and reached for Itachi, pulling him away from Kyuubi. He looked back at Kakashi and shot a glare towards Iruka. "You too, Kakashi, stay away from that demon."
Itachi pushed Sasuke away from him, causing the young raven to stumble. "What the hell is wrong with you now, Sasuke?" He brushed off his arm from where Sasuke held it. "I'm getting real sick of your fucking freak outs. I have a prophecy I need to fulfill."
"That's the problem!" Sasuke shouted loudly.
Kakashi frowned. "I thought we were over the denial phase."
"Sakura told me the truth about the demons."
Everyone but Sasuke looked at each other in
confusion, not knowing what he was talking about.
Sasuke let out a low growl, getting frustrated with everyone. "She was telling me about how you demons have us all under a spell, causing us to fall in love with you so you can have your way and take over."
"Sasuke," Itachi sounded exasperated. "You're being ridiculous. You can't fake love, no matter how powerful the demon."
Sasuke let out a scoff. "That's what the demons want you to think. You're just further proving how far under their spell you actually are."
Itachi rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, giving Sasuke a bored look. "I am so sick of your behavior and I make my own damn decisions, Sasuke. But, I'll make you a promise."
Sasuke perked up in curiosity and stared at his brother, waiting for him to continue.
"Whatever choice you make, Sasuke, I will stick by your side, no matter what. Even if that means leaving Kyuubi behind and not going through with the prophecy."
The room gasped in shock at Itachi's words. Kyuubi felt his heart practically break in his chest. A short sob came from his mouth and he quickly covered his mouth with his hand.
Itachi turned to Kyuubi and he gave him a sad smile. He walked over to the red head, lightly rubbing the pale cheek with his thumb. "I'm sorry Kyuu, but I love my brother too much. f that means I'll have to sacrifice the love of my life just so he won't feel alone in this, I have to do it." Itachi glanced at Naruto then back to Kyuubi. "I only imagine you'd do the same for Naruto."
Kyuubi glanced at Naruto then back at Itachi. He felt the love for both of them, and how he so badly wanted to choose Itachi, but he knew he still would have picked the blonde.
Itachi placed a small kiss on the top of Kyuubi's head before standing back in front of Sasuke. "Now do you believe that I'm not under a spell?"
Sasuke studied Itachi carefully and gave him a sinle nod. "Fine. I believe you. But, I'm still unsure of what I should do." He turned to look at Naruto, eyeing him up and down. "I think it'll be better if we slept in different rooms tonight." He then turned to walk away.
Naruto's eyes widened at Sasuke's words and he felt tears form in his eyes as he could do nothing but watch the raven walk away from him.
"You can sleep in mine and Iruka's old room, Naruto." Kyuubi placed his hands on top of Naruto's shoulders. "I'll stay with you too."
Naruto gave a silent nod as more tears began to fall. Kyuubi gently guided them to the bedroom and everyone else went their seperate ways.
Fugaku was currently in his private study. He cleared his desk, uncaring of the papers and scrolls that were on top of it. He sneered down at the mess that was now scattered on the floor.
He went to his shelves, pulling out books relating to demons, specifically the Nine-Tails, and placin them on his desk.
He smirked visiciously as he pulled ou one of the books he was looking for. He sat down and opened the top drawer, pulling out a blank scroll and quill. He flipped open the top book and began to read.
"I'll figure out their secret just yet."
