Helping Fujiko

About ten years or so after helping Fukumoto, it was the year when Fujiko Ashiya and her husband Risaburo were young people, and when their son Hikaru was still alive. (I don't really know how long apart it was when Fukumoto used the hell girl newspaper ad and when Hikaru disappeared, so I'm just making it up here) Reina remembered Fujiko suffered terribly after they lost Hikaru and her husband was never the same either after that. So her plan this time was to save Hikaru.

Another thing Reina was thinking about was Ai's fourth companion Yamawaro. Since the Ashiya house was where Yamawaro was living after Hikaru disappeared, Reina was wondering if she will meet him here. She also wondered if he will become her companion his time.

Reina and her companions were standing, hidden, near the Ashiya house. "Ren I need you to keep an eye on the boy Hikaru and keep him safe;" said Reina "these mountain areas are dangerous to children". "Understood Reina-san" said Ren. "Is there anything else we need to do Reina-san?" asked Wanyuudou. "Yes;" said Reina "apart from saving Hikaru, we need to try to persuade the Ashiya family to leave this area. This place is not safe for Hikaru to grow up in. Mind you I don't know if Mr Ashiya will agree. That man is one of those craziest scientists who wish to complete an experiment no matter what". "What's Mr Ashiya's experiment?" asked Hone Onna. "You won't believe this" sighed Reina.

Reina explained to her companions that Mr Ashiya wished to create an elixir of life. "Elixir of life?" said Wanyuudou "isn't that a legendary medicine that's supposed to give you eternal youth and keep you alive forever?" "It is and Mr Ashiya really wishes to create one to keep him and his family going on forever" said Reina. "I know I probably have no course to speak," said Hone Onna "but it sounds crazy how people want to become immortal". "There are a lot of crazy people who wish they could live on for more than 100 years Hone Onna; I've heard these lots of times before" said Reina. Wanyuudou, Ren and Hone Onna were speechless by this.

So Ren kept a close eye on Hikaru and it was a good thing he did too. One day Hikaru was out walking in the wood on his own but then he got caught in a bog and he started to sink in the mud. Luckily for him Ren saw he was in danger and got him out of the bog at once. "Are you okay kid?" asked Ren. Hikaru whimpered yes and cried in Ren's arms. Reina, who heard the danger from Ren a second ago, came over. "It's alright boy, well get you home now" she said, rubbing Hikaru's back in comfort. She looked at the bog. 'It's no wonder Hikaru disappeared and they couldn't find him' she thought. It's a well-known fact that bogs and swamps are very dangerous and it's best not to go near them, and once you're lost in the swamps you'll never be found alive again.

At the Ashiya house Mr and Mrs Ashiya were just about to call Hikaru home, when Reina and Ren turned up with Hikaru. "Hikaru" said Fujiko, running over to them. Reina explained to her what had happened. Fujiko was horrified, hugged her son delighted he was safe, and thanked Ren for saving him. Mr Ashiya was grateful too. "I would like to make a suggestion to you Mr and Mrs Ashiya;" said Reina "its best you move to another place like a town or city. This place is not safe for children to grow up in, especially since this area has got bogs in it. Hikaru was just lucky that Ren here was around to save him from the bog, but next time Hikaru won't be so lucky. That's why you need to move away for safety's sake as soon as possible". After hearing what nearly happened to Hikaru, Fujiko agreed the family should move away. But her husband Risaburo didn't look so keen on the idea.

Unbeknown to anyone, a figure had been watching and listening to what's been going on; it was Yamawaro. He was interested in what was going on.

The next day Reina visited the Ashiya house again. Risaburo was out but Fujiko was there and Hikaru was playing on the swing. "Have you and your husband made plans to move away from here Mrs Ashiya?" asked Reina. "I have, but my husband wishes to stay here" said Fujiko. She explained that, to her husband, the forest was a great place for his research because so many materials he used were there. "So does that mean you wish to love separated from him?" asked Reina. "I hate to admit it but yes," said Fujiko "my husband will never let go of this place due to his research". "Scientists like your husband are always stubborn and full of pride; I've heard this things before" said Reina. "I do feel hurt with the thought of leaving my husband behind and on his own, but" said Fujiko. Reina interrupted her. "Listen Mrs Ashiya," said Reina "it is best for you and your son to live somewhere away from his place, because as I said it's too dangerous for Hikaru to stay here. As for your husband well, it's best to leave him to his research here. And just hope he will come to his senses one day. It's best to leave here now especially for your son's sake otherwise it may be too late and you'll be full of regrets". Fujiko stared at Reina and understood the situation.

A few days later a car was waiting outside the Ashiya house. Fujiko and her son were leaving to go live in town miles away from the wood. As for Riaburo, he was going to continue living in the house to continue on with his research.

"So the wife and her son are leaving and that husband is staying huh?" said Wanyuudou. "Nothing can be done to change the man's mind I'm afraid" said Reina. They watched the car leave with Fujiko and Hikaru. Reina was happy to have helped Fujiko and her son, but she did wonder what will happen to Riaburo later on. 'I'll check on him when he reaches his elderly years' she thought. (She means check on him during the time when Yuzuki met the Ashiya family)

Suddenly the group heard a sound from behind them. They turned round and to Reina's surprise it was Yamawaro. Yamawaro walked forward. "I am Yamawaro," he said "and I saw you save that boy's life and I saw everything else too". Reina explained to Yamawaro what she and her companions do; helping people and such. "So Yamawaro what are you going to do?" asked Reina. She knew Yamawaro only stayed here due to being interested in the Ashiya family since he didn't have a family of his own. Yamaworo smiled and said he wished to go with Reina. "After hearing about what you said of you helping people before something really bad happens them, I've become interested in that and think I want to help too" he said. Reina was surprised she would be recruiting Yamawaro now; after all Ai didn't recruit Yamawaro till she came back from the dead again. "If that's what you want then you are welcome to join me Yamawaro" replied Reina.

So Reina had helped Fujiko by saving her son's life and managed to talk her into leaving her selfish husband. She also recruited Yamawaro as her forth companion.

There's no doubt that Hikaru must have died thanks to the swampy area the family was living in. Reina will visit the man again later.
