Helping Honami
Several years after saving Satsuki and Mina from Fujie, it was the time when Honami Chiwaki was being abused by her horrible husband Heitarou Chiwaki. Reina had big plans for this task. "You four," she said to her companions "this quest is a big, nasty one". "Who is it we need to take down this time?" asked Hone Onna, sensing Reina's seriousness. Reina explained to her companions about Heitarou Chiwaki and his abusive attitude towards his wife and daughter. "So we're saving this woman from that horrible husband of hers huh?" asked Wanyuudou. "We are going to do more than that" answered Reina. She explained to them about Heitarou's mother who just allowed her son to abuse Honami. "So you're saying that woman doesn't do anything to stop her son nor help her daughter in law?" asked Ren. "I'm afraid not;" said Reina "that woman is bad just like her son is. That's why we are going to get her arrested too". The four companions agreed with this plan; they wanted neither the husband nor grandmother to get away with it.
Reina passed a camera to Ren and a small tape recorder to Wanyuudou. "The first part of my plan is gain evidence of the abuse and such;" said Reina "you see sometimes whenever you're reporting an abusive person you have to show real evidence to the police. Heitarou will never admit his abuse and his mother will obviously try to back him up". "I see so you want me to take pictures of the man abusing his wife right?" asked Ren. "Exactly," said Reina "those pictures will be what we need to get Heitarou in jail". "What do you need me to do with this tape recorder Reina-san?" asked Wanyuudou. "Ah this is an important part I need you to do Wanyuudou" said Reina. She explained to Wanyuudou that she need him to talk the grandmother into confessing that she doesn't do anything about the abuse. "If you record her confessing Wanyuudou we can get her into trouble with the police too". "I've got it, you leave it to me Reina-san" said Wanyuudou. "What will I be doing Reina-san?" asked Hone Onna. "You and I will convince Honami to let us help her with her horrible husband," answered Reina. "and then we'll go to the police later and tell them about her husband's abuse". Hone Onna understood.
The next day Reina and her companions made their moves. Yamawaro was given the task of keeping an eye on Heitarou and watch what he was doing. Reina saw Honami going out of the house with Nene; Nene was crying so Honami was taking her out for a while to calm down. "Okay Wanyuudou and Ren you know what to do right?" asked Reina. "Yes I distract the grandmother while Ren hides in the house and get ready to take photos of the abuse right?" said Wanyuudou. "Yes and don't forget to record her confession of not caring about Honami or Nene" said Reina. Ren was ready with his task too. "Okay let's go" said Reina. It was time to put the plans into action. Reina and Hone Onna walked off to talk to Honami; they were going to comfort her. Wanyuudou and Ren made their way to the Chiwaki house.
Wanyuudou made his way to the door and knocked on the door. The grandmother opened the door. As she was an alcoholic she was carrying a bottle of sake in her hand. With his powers, Wanyuudou made the grandmother believe that he was her friend. Soon Wanyuudou started having a drink with the grandmother. While the grandmother was distracted, Ren hid himself in the house; so he could be ready to take photos of the abuse. "So tell me how everything is going?" asked Wanyuudou. "Urgh terrible and it's all because of that's baby's crying," said the grandmother "always crying all the time and it gives me a headache". "It's not the child's fault, crying are what babies do" said Wanyuudou. "Tch it's still annoying," said the grandmother "and that Honami is a nuisance too". "Do pardon me but he sounds to me you don't like her or your granddaughter" said Wanyuudou. The grandmother started complaining of how annoying things have been ever since Nene was born and she started blabbering about how her son would get mad and hit Honami all the time. "Don't you stop him or something?" asked Wanyuudou. "Why should I, Honami is the one who does the wrong things" said the grandmother. Wanyuudou didn't like her attitude and neither did Ren who heard everything too.
While Wanyuudou and Ren had been doing their part, Honna Onna and Reina were talking to Honami. Reina saw Honami's injured face. "You're being abused aren't you Honami-san?" asked Reina. Honami looked at Reina in surprise. "There's no point in trying to hide it;" said Honna Onna "we have seen abused people before so we can tell how hurt you are". Honami admitted about Heitarou's abuse. "Haven't you told the police about this?" asked Reina. "I really want to," said Honami "but I'm afraid of what that man may do to me or Nene if I told the police. His mother will back him up too". "Yes I understand that situation;" said Hone Onna "I've met many people who had found it hard to fight against those who abused them". Reina understood the situation too; her sister had dealt with cases involving abusive people, and of course she had heard many stories about abusive people before. In this case Honami is right about her husband would get really, really violent if she told the police about it. "My friend and I will tell the police about this Honami-san" said Reina. "What?" said Honami. "Yes you leave this to us;" said Hone Onna "we know exactly how to deal with situations like this". "But that man may do something to you then" said Honami. She was worried about involving other people in this problem of hers. "Don't worry about anything, it will be alright" Reina convinced her. Honami was still scared, but she felt she could trust Reina and Hone Onna.
That evening it was time for the second part of the plan to happen. Heitarou was going to be home from work soon. Wanyuudou gave Reina back the tape recorder. "Is this enough to prove the grandmother guilty of neglect?" he asked. Reina listened to everything the woman said on the tape. "Plenty," said Reina "good work Wanyuudou". "Now it's up to Ren to do the pictures" said Hone Onna. "Come on now Hone Onna it's time we went to the police station," said Reina "Wanyuudou and Yamawaro you stay here and keep a watch on Ren in case anything happens". "Yes Reina-san" said Wanyuudou.
Reina and Hone Onna secretly teleported to the police station to put the final bit of plan to action. Luckily there were some policemen standing outside. Reina and Hone Onna ran up to them, acting all panicky. "Officers we need help!" gasped Reina. "Whoa slow down and tell us what's wrong miss" said one of the policemen. "Our friend Honami Chiwaki is being abused by her husband Heitarou Chiwaki" said Reina. "What?!" gasped a policeman. "It's true," said Hone Onna "we saw her with her daughter Nene today and Honami had bruises nearly all over her face and it seems her daughter was hurt too". The policemen were shocked and not happy to hear this. "Oh officers will you please go and arrest that horrible man before he hurts Honami and Nene even more?" said Reina, sounding all upset. "Yes miss we will" said a policeman. He sent out a message on his radio and the police were on their way to arrest Heitarou at once. Reina and Hone Onna were given lifts to the house as well.
Meanwhile Heitarou had started attacking Honami in a fit of rage again. Honami begged for him to stop but he ignored her pleas and slapped her over and over again. Ren took pictures of everything. 'I hope Reina-san hurries and brings the police soon' thought Ren. He hated watching something like this. But soon there was the sound of police sirens from outside; the police had arrived. 'She's done it' thought Ren. Nene was crying so loud and Heitarou was shouting so much, no one heard the police sirens.
At that moment the police kicked the front door open and they saw the situation. The police grabbed Heitarou and placed some handcuffs on him. Heitarou screamed with rage and tried to get away, but of course the police didn't let him escape. A policeman went over to Honami and comforted her while she held onto Nene. "You're friends told us about your husband's abuse Mrs Chiwaki, you have nothing to fear now" he said. Honami was crying but was happy her husband was being arrested now. Ren was watching everything and he was happy that Hoanmi was safe now.
It wasn't long till Heitarou was dragged into a police car. An ambulance had been called too to treat Honami and Nene. The grandmother made a fuss and tried to stop the police from taking Heitarou, claiming he did nothing wrong. But Reina bravely stepped forward and revealed the tape recorder to the police. The police listened to the grandmother's confessions about the abuse and how she doesn't do anything to stop it. "I don't know anything about you officers, but I don't call this a great attitude for a mother-in-law or grandmother" said Reina. The police didn't either and so the grandmother was arrested too.
Ren quickly got out of the house and gave the camera to Reina. "Good work Ren;" said Reina "now we have all the evidence to bring Heitaro and his mother down. If the police ask you where you got the photos from, tell them Honami asked you to secretly take the photos for help against that man". "Got it" said Ren. "So are we done with this quest Reina-san?" asked Yamawaro. "No, there is one more thing I need to do with Honami" answered Reina.
Reina went to visit Honami in the hospital. Honami was being treated for her injuries and Nene was being checked over. She was happy to see Reina. "Thank you for helping me Reina" said Honami, gratefully. "You're welcome," said Reina "listen though Honami there is something you will need to later on, and it regards Nene-chan". "What's wrong?" asked Honami, afraid if something bad was going to happen to Nene. "When Nene starts asking you about her dad when she's a bit older, you will have to tell her everything about him including the abuse" said Reina. "What?" said Honami. Obviously like in the anime she didn't want to tell Nene about Heitarou in case it would hurt her. "Listen," said Reina "I understand you are afraid about how Nene would feel if she knew the whole truth. But Nene will end up angry and hating you if you never tell her the truth. If there is one thing children hate more than anything about is being lied to and never revealed the whole truth about anything their parents have been keeping secrets about. And another thing is that mother-in-law of yours will end up taking Nene to her dad without telling her anything; she'll just lie to her about him and Nene will end up in danger and hurt because of those two. That's why Nene will need to be told the truth about her dad and her grandma as soon as possible". Honami still didn't like the idea, but after hearing what Reina said she made up her mind and promised to tell the truth to Nene.
In the end Heitarou was found guilty of abuse and his mother was found guilty of neglect and ignorance. Thanks to Ren's pictures and Wanyuudou's tape recording, those two had no chance of winning. So both of them were placed in jail and Heitarou was sentenced there for fifty years, while his mother was sentenced twenty years. So Honami and Nene were safe.
"I'm glad that was a success" said Honna Onna. "So am I" said Reina. She was happy she sorted out Honami's abusive marriage. Ren was happy too because he did not like how Heitarou treated Honami. It reminded him of when he was used by people to kill other people, which he hated so much.
So now Reina had dealt with the older characters, it was nearly time for her to get ready to help the future characters; the ones from the beginning of the anime.
I hope you like how I sorted out Honami. She should have told Nene the truth long ago; that way Nene wouldn't have been lied to by her grandma. I'll do a special chapter about Ren seeing Nene and Honami again later.
