50. Chapter 50

As a young girl, Geelie had seen her mother burned as a witch in the town square of Savior, Massachusetts.

It wasn't the first time an accused witch had been burned at the stake, but it was the first time that an actual witch had been burned.

It had, unfortunately, been little Geelie's doing. Her mother had warned her to be careful of the neighbors, but it was hard to be careful all the time, and one day Goody Fitzgibbons had seen Geelie talking to a cat.

The cat talking back was what had put Geelie's mother into the flames.
