Chapter 3
After an hour of meeting some of the members of Fairy Tail I decided it would be best to help Kinana out since I'm gonna be helping out at the bar anyways. Once I reached the counter I went behind the bar and gently tapped Kinana on the shoulder figuring she wouldn't hear me over all the noise going in the guild hall. She turned around with a smile, but once she saw it was me a small blush rose on her face.
"Hey Chris I'd love to chat but I'm a bit busy right now, I need to get these drinks to a table" she said to me
"That's actually why I'm here I wanted to help you out" I said with a smile
"I'd love that but I don't have the time to teach you right now and I usually let Mirajane handle that" she said apoligeticaly
"No need to worry I can just hand the drinks out, it's the least I can do" I said
"But unfortunatly you won't know what items will go to who" she said getting ready to walk to another table
"Trust me Kinana I know it's my first day but but I have a good read on people and if I mess up I promise I'll be out of your hair" I said giving a small smile
Kinana spoke"Alrighty then, you see that tray over there on the counter-" I looked behind me at the tray. On the tray was a bowl filled with different types of iron a glass of lemonade, and glass of water filled with3/4ths of ice."Got I" I said cutting her off and sprinting towards the tray
"Wait Chris I didn't get to at least tell you were some of those items go to" she said with a sigh knowing that I probably couldn't hear her
As I grabbed the tray and looked at the far corner tables, I eventually spotted a head of blue hair knowing that they would be sitting together. Once I reached the table they sat at I placed the bowl infront of a ruff looking fellow with at least a dozen piercings and red eyes. He started devouring the iron like it was a bowl of fiesta chips. I then turned towad the other person who was Levy and put her lemonade infront of her. She looked up and went to thank me but a look of surprise reached her face probably expecting Kinana. Levy then spoke up
"Hello I don't believe we've meet are you the new guild memeber?" she said with a kind smile
"I am" I said to her
"Well I'm Levy Mcgarden and this is Gajeel Redfox" she said introducing her and Gajeel
All Gajeel did was grunt still eating the iron
"I'm Chris Lockser, Juvias cousin" I said politely
The moment I said this Gajeel actually looked up at me and spoke
" I didn't know rain woman had a cousin, she never mentioned it to me" he said
"Trust me it was a surprise for both of us, we didn't know eachother even existed. But our fathers were brothers" I said
"Well you guys do both have the same hair so it makes sense" Gajeel said getting up after finishing up his bowl of iron
"Come on shrimp I need to to talk to Juvia about something" he said lightly grabbing Levy and pulling her along
"But Gajeel I didn't even get to touch my lemonade" she said with a pout
As they went to go find Juvia. I looked around for Gray knowing that the last item on the tray was his' I spotted him I made my way to him
"Here is your drink Gray" I said setting it infront of him
"Thanks Chris I see Kinana is already putting you to work" Gray said creating more ice for his drink
"Kinda I just wanted to help her out since this whole fiasco is partly my doing" I said sheepishly
"Well you better get used to it the guild is most always like this" he said waving his hand to the other guild members who were laguhing and drinking
"Don't I know it" I said with a smile
"Hey Gray where is Nat- Salamander" I said catching myself
"Yeah him and our other guildmates Happy and Lucy are on a job, but they should be back anytime" Gray said
No sooner did the words leave Gray's mouth the guild doors busted open
"We're back everybody!" a loud voice boomed from the guild doors
I looked over and the one and only Natsu Dragneel was walking in followed by Happy and Lucy who had their head down
"Welcome back guys!" the guild yelled back
As I watched them walk in I noticed that Natsu was tilting his head up and was sniffing the air then a slight perplexed look showed up on his face. He then looked at me and made his way to me and Graywith Happy and Lucy following behind.
"What's up Gray, who's the new guy?" Natsu said
I spoke before Gray could
"I'm Chris Lockser I just joined Fairy Tail today" I said with a bow
"Pleasure to meet you I'm Natsu Dragneel and this is my partner Happy and my friend Lucy" he said with his famous smile while pointing at Happy and Lucy
"Aye, sir" Happy said giving a salute
"Wait did you say Lockser?" Lucy said
It took me a couple seconds to respond to her. Cause as much as it pained me to do this since I'm a die hard NaLu fan. My eyes couldn't help but take in her beautiful body that had all the right curves. I then shook my head.
"Yeah I'm actually Juvia's cousin, even though we both just found out today" I said politeliy looking at her eyes
She then clapped her hands "That's wonderfull I'm gonna go find her so we can have some girl chat, it was a pleasure meeting you Chris" she said with a smile
"Likewise" I said and with that she took off
"So how did your guys' job go?" Gray said
"It went-" Natsu began to speak before Happy cut him off
"Natsu ended up driving the thunder boar into town were it wrecked havoc and destroyed some buildings, and we had to use all of the reward to pay for repairs" Happy said trying to stifle his laguhter
"That explains why Lucy looked bum when you guys walked in" Gray said
As Natsu was arguing with Happy for saying it wasn't his fault and telling Gray a different story I decided to go back to the counter and help Kinana a bit more. I then felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around
"Chris wait up let's have a spar I want to see how strong you are" Natsu said with a grin
As much as I would love to I've never used magic before, and since my magic was something to do with plants I'm pretty sure I would loose to his fire Dragon Slayer magic. Luckily Gray stepped in to save me.
"Hey Flame Brain can't you see he is busy working right now" Gray said getting up
"What did you want to fight instead Ice Princess" Natsu said walking towards him both of them intently glaring at eachother
"I recomend just walking away Chris when they get like this only Erza or Master can stop them" Happy said
"I'll take your word for it Happy" I said while slowly backing away back to the bar
As me and Happy reached the bar we heard Gray and Natsu fighting, and then some other guild memeber yelled guild brawl and all hell broke loose. Chairs and people went flying when clouds of smoke picked up. I had to duck to avoid getting hit by a flying chair.
"Well nothing like a guild brawl to start off your first day huh Chris" some one spoke next to me I turned to see Kinana.
"Oh hi Kinana should we try to stop them or get Master to stop them?" I asked
"Nah once a brawl starts it's best to just wait till it blows over, plus with them ducking it out it means less work for us" she said nudging me with her elbow
"I gotcha ya" I said not really thinking that with a guild brwal it mean't less orders
"Thanks again for starting on your first day I couldn't believe you knew excactly where to give those orders to" she said impressed
"Well I did say I'm good at reading people, plus I couldn't just let you handle this all by yourself since I inderectly caused it. You also really work hard at this job and you deserve all the breaks you can get" I said smiling at her
Kinana then plushed and silenty said something that I couldn't hear thanks to all the noise that was going on
"Ooooo she likes you" Happy said putting a paw to his mouth
Me and Kinana both blushed a deep crimson. I completly forgot that Happy was still there listening to our conversation. When I would read Fairy Tail I always found it really funny when Happy would say that line, but hering it be said with corespondence to me I see now why the called him a stupid cat when he said it.
"Well I'm gonna go tackle some of the dishes" Kinana said walking away still blushing
Before Happy could keep talking about me and Kinana I spoke up knowing the best way to keep his trap shut
"Hey Happy would you like some fish it's on the house" I asked the talking blue cat
"Oh boy would I" Happy said witha glint in his eye and drool going down the side of his mouth
I smiled and went underneath the counter to find what I was looking for. After a couple of seconds I found a small bucket filled with four to five fish. I just hope Mirajane is okay with me doing this I thought to myself. I placed the bucket infront of Happy who immediatly started going to town on the fish. Pleased with myself in stopping the cat's tyraid I looked around to the members not particapating in the brawl. I eventually spotted the one person who I'm sure is immune to the effects of liquor. As I walked up to her a raised my voice a little bit so she could hear me.
"Hey Cana you need a top off on your drink?" I asked her
"I'd love that new guy she said with little to no slurring in her words
"Coming right up" I said
I then made my way behind the bar and found a set of stairs which I assumed led to the cellar. I started to decsend the stairs and eventually found myself at the bottom.
"It's pitch dark down here" I said to myself
I started to feel around for a light switch but all I could feel was something close what I would asume that of which a crystal feels like. I then heard footsteps slowly approching me. I looked up to see Kinana walking down the stairs.
"Hey Chris I heard from Cana that you went to go refill her drink for her so I figuerd I'd tell ya where we store Cana's specific liquor" she said
"Oh thanks now that I think about it was pretty silly of me doing this by myself without asking for your help" I said as she reached the final step
We then stood looking at eachother for a couple of seconds before she spoke
"Aren't you gonna turn on the lacrima?" she said looking at me tilting her head
After she said that I remembered that they don't run off electricity here instead using lacrimas to light up dark places.
"I actually don't know how to turn on a lacrima" I said embarssingly
"That's right I completly forgot that's my bad, here I'll show you" she said apoligetically
She the went to move her hand to the lacrima
"Once you get a handle of your magic all you have to do is lightly touch the lacrima and put a little bit of magic into it. The more magic you put into it the longer it stays lit" she said as her hand touched the lacrima
Before I could move my hand from the lacrima I felt something light and warm touch my hand, but before I could take it back the light from the lacrima shined filling up the cellar with light. I was so awestruck all I could do was stare at the amazing crystal. I then looked over at Kinana who had a smile on her face, probably cause of my reaction to it. We then both looked at the lacrima and we realised that our hands were still touching
"Sorry"
"Sorry"
We both said in unison taking our hands back as we both blushed
Why am I effected by this I haven't blushed this much since Megan was still alive. I shook my head pushing away any thoughts of Megan cause whenever I do I star to tear up. I'm probably only blushing cause of what Happy said earlier, yeah that's why. I then cleared my throat
"We should probably grab Cana's liquor" I said
"Um...Yeah" Kinana said regaining her composer
"It's over there in the far right corner" Kinana said pointing at a least a dozen decent sized barrels
As we reached the barrels I smirked to myself cause all the barrels had "Proberty of Cana" burn't into them. I then grabbed one of the and hoisted it up onto my shoulder
"Let's start to head back" I said
"Yeah" Kinana said as we made our way to the stairwell I felt a hand tug at my vest I turned around to see a blushing Kinana slightly looking down
"What is it?" I asked
She looked up at me and spoke " About what Happy said earlier I-"
She didn't get to finish as we both heard a loud bang echoing from upstairs. I placed the barrel down as me an Kinana sprinted up the stairs.
