Chapter 5

Welcome rangers to a new chapter. I've got good news and bad news, the good news is my grandparents are filling better, bad news now I'm not feeling good so this chapter will be on the shorter side. I know I'm sorry but with that out of the way the next two chapters we will be following Chris as he does his two different types of training. I'll see ya at the end of this chapter, and I hope you enjoy it.

I woke up bright and early the next day thanks to my job of working construction for two years. After getting ready for the day, I stepped outside where I saw that the sun was barley starting to leave the horizon. As I reached the guild a large yawn left my body, for the life of me I couldn't remember if the world of Fairy Tail had coffee or not.

"God, I hope they do otherwise this day is going to suck" I said once I got within arms distance of the doors.

I went to pull on the doors, but they wouldn't budge. I guess I arrived a bit to early, no sooner had that thought passed through my mind I heard someone speak to me.

"Good morning, Chris your here early" a pleasant voice spoke to me.

I turned around and I felt a small nosebleed coming on. One of the most beautiful women I've ever set eyes on smiled and waved at me. It was none other than Mirajane Strauss in the flesh. As a kid she was one of my cartoon childhood crushes.

"Uh...Good morning to you also Mirajane" I said as I put a couple fingertips to the bottom of my nose making sure there wasn't any blood.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here yesterday to greet you and give you your stamp, I had some family stuff to attended to" she said as she pulled out a set of keys and inserted one of them into the lock.

"It's no worries, the others filled me in on what happened. I'm glad that your sister was okay all along" I said as we both walked into the guild.

"Thanks Chris, yeah it was huge relief for all of us when Lisanna returned. Well Chris are you ready to get started on your training, but from what I heard you seem like a natural" she said with a smile.

I had a small blush on my face from Mirajane's compliment. I then made my way to the tables to start putting the chairs down and I saw Mirajane head to the counter. After putting all the chairs on the floor one of the best smells reached my nose.

"Hey Chris, would you like a cup of coffee?" Mirajane asked me.

"I'd love one" I said as I made my way to the counter and grabbed the cup of liquid energy.

"Uhhhh, that hits the spot" I said with a sigh after taking a sip. I looked down to see an extra cup on the counter.

"Hey, Mirajane, is Kinana coming in today?" I asked hoping that I would get the opportunity to apologize to her, and to let her know that it wasn't her fault I ran out last night even though it's kind of was.

"She actually has the next couple days off" she said with a slight smirk.

"The third mug is actually for Master once he gets in" she finished.

"Oh, gotcha you" I said wondering why she smirked when I mentioned Kinana.

After we both finished our mugs, I then took them to the sink to clean. We then both turned our heads when Markov walked in

"Morning Master" Mirajane and I said at the same time as I walked back to the counter.

"Morning children" he said with a yawn as he grabbed his mug and reheated it with his magic.

"So, I heard you decided to help out yesterday, even though you didn't have any training prior, and that you did a good job" Markov said after taking a couple sips of his coffee.

"Yeah, I figured it would be best to help since it looked like Kinana needed the help" I said.

"That's good to hear I'm glad you have a good head on your shoulders and that you are already fitting in to Fairy Tail nicely. Also, after your shift tonight I want you to stop off at my office I have some news I think you would like to hear" Master said finishing his coffee.

"Of course, Master" I said as both me and Mirajane watched him walk up the stairs to his office.

"Okay Chris we have about two hours before we open our doors, so how about we get started" Mirajane said looking at me.

"I'm ready for it" I said.

For the next couple hours Mirajane showed me rope. We started on what to during opening which included dusting off tables, chairs, and the drinking glasses. She then showed me the different types of meals that had to be made in advance since they took a while to cook. Mirajane then took me around to take stock of the stuff we had and to see if we had to order anything. We then found ourselves back at the counter where Mirajane was telling me what certain mixed drinks were called and the different types of liquor needed to make the drinks. Which was safe to say was the hardest part for me.

"And don't worry about the drinks right now, I know you'll eventually get it down" she said with a bright smile.

"Thanks for showing me everything" I said with countless new information swimming in my head.

"It looks like we still have about half an hour lets go take out some of the food from the oven and then I want you to walk me through the stuff I just showed you" she said as we made our way to the oven.

Twenty minutes went by once I finished relaying all the information I learned to Mirajane. I apparently did really good, but that all changed when I had to talk about the different mixed drinks.

"As I said before don't worry about the drinks right now, it's technically your second day and the mixed drinks are the hardest part of this job. So, don't beat yourself up about it." she said.

"Thanks again for training me" I said perking up since she didn't expect me to get the mixed drinks down right away.

For the remainder of the time, we talked, and I shared some stuff about myself, and she did the same. Even though I already knew a lot about Mirajane it was nice talking to her. Until the subject of Kinana came up

"So, Chris when are you going to ask out Kinana?" Mirajane said with a devilish smile.

I spat out the water I was drinking at the time. Now I know why she had that glint in here eye when I mentioned Kinana before, and her smile this time was way different then her other ones. It was keen to that of a smile of a hyena.

"Wh- what do you mean, and how did you even hear about what happened in the cellar" I said grabbing a towel and drying off the counter and then my chin.

"Well, I'm not called Fairy Tail's match maker for nothing" she said with another one of those devilish looks on her face.

I completely forgot that Mirajane had a knack for pairing certain types of people up in the guild, and I thought that I would only have to worry about that type of stuff from Happy.

"That still doesn't answer my question about how you know what happened between me and Kinana in the cellar. Also, I gave up I gave up on relationships a long time ago" I said gloomily.

"But you are still young" she said looking at me and then she said something that I've heard countless times before but each with the same message.

"Even if you feel that way a person can't help but eventually feel a pull towards starting up a romantic relationship again. It is in our nature, and I feel that Kinana will be exactly the push you need to put yourself back out there" she said with a kind smile. All I did was nod.

"Alrighty Chris looks like the time to open is upon us you ready?" she said going to unlock the doors.

"Yeah" I said.

Looks like my second day at working the bar is about to start.

"Chris, you did a fantastic job today" Mirajane said while we were both closing up.

"Thanks" I said with another blush from receiving a complement from Mirajane.

The day went by relatively normal, well normal for Fairy Tail. There were only two guild brawls today that Erza put a stop to by knocking out Gray and Natsu who started them. I also got to talk with Gray and Juvia and we decided to start my magic training tomorrow morning. I also got to meet a couple new faces that I didn't see yesterday. First, I meet the adorable Wendy Marvell and her overprotective partner Carla. Wendy was just as cute an innocent as she was in the manga, but I believe I left a good impression of myself on her. Carla was just as bossy and motherly as she was in the manga. She was a bit rude at first, but I felt she warmed up to me as the day went on. Carla also thanked me for helping out when Happy was trying to woo her with a fish, even though all I did was distract Happy by just excysting cause the moment he saw me he started talking about how he saw me and Kinana in the cellar yesterday. Where I then swiftly punched him 'lightly of course' for telling Mirajane about it. I don't even know how me and Kinana didn't see him when we were downstairs. Finally, I got to meet the other Stauss siblings. Elfman was funny and was constantly hanging around Evergreen. I found myself laughing out loud when he started talking about how it was very manly of me to start work without any prior training and that he said that I should train with him to work on getting a more manly physique. I said that I would like that very much, I just wished that Elfman could've seen me in my past life where I was probably just a little bit less built then him. We probably would have plenty of manly things to do. Once I talked to Elfman, I got to speak to Lisanna who was kind and quirky. I found out from Lisanna that she would also be helping out at the bar and that she was taking a couple days off to settle back into things. She also told me about the mirror world to our own called Edolas and how everything was similar and also vastly different. I politely listened knowing all the information already, but I couldn't help and wonder that if I got transported here then maybe a alternat version of me ended up there. If that did happen, I wonder how our differences would match up. After some idle chit chat with some of the others my mind couldn't help but think about the one person, I was hoping to see the most, but ended up not showing. Master also ended up leaving around midday and he told me that he would talk to me later since he was summoned by the Magic Council and how he wouldn't be back for a couple days. That and when he got back that we would talk about what he wanted to discuss with me. Which only made me more nervous and excited.

"Okay Chris looks like we are all done for today, by the way I heard that you were going to do some training with Gray and Juvia tomorrow morning. So, if you want to come in and work your shift around midday, I'm fine with that" Mirajane said as we walked out into the cold night air, and she locked the doors.

"I appreciate that I honestly completely forgotten about it till you brought it up" I said rubbing the back of my neck.

"No problem" she said once she handed me a bag with more money in it then yesterday.

"So, I couldn't help but notice that you kept on looking at the guild doors all day. Where you perhaps hoping that Kinana would come in today" she said with a evil smirk

"Um...No I wasn-. Okay I was but not for the reasons you may think. I just wanted to talk to her about something that happened last night" I said admitting that I was in fact looking for her.

"I wouldn't worry about she might come in tomorrow and then you can talk to her about asking her out" Mirajane said with a giggle.

"I told you it isn't like that" I said with a blush.

"Okay whatever you say. Looks like this is my stop" she said as we both stopped walking.

"We'll have a goodnight, Mirajane" I said.

"You as well Chris and I'll see you tomorrow" she said making her way into the house the Strauss siblings shared.

On my way back to the inn I've been staying at my mind couldn't help but wonder what my first day of magic training would be like.

OK end of Chapter 5 I'm sorry for it being shorter than the others but I promise that chapter 6 will be longer, but till then I'll see my fellow rangers on Saturday.
