Chapter 5 - The Trail of Battle Part 1
By One Above All
.
.
.
Alone. The concept that holds more fear than death itself. To wander your existence with no one to be your rock. No one to keep you strong. No one to be your friend. That is why home is the one place you feel safest. At least at home, the bullies do not hunt you down and take everything.
This was the story for poor young Yokuto Toriashi. He is a Japanese student of Somei Junior High, having graduated from first year status to second year. His parents had gained their wealthy status through their talents in the Japanese electronics production companies. His mother works for Pear where she helps design dummy robot A.I's, while his father works for Bambung who help manufacture data softwares for hero agencies. The family lives in a decent upper-class house in a friendly neighborhood. Their status in society would grant young Yokuto admission into Somei.
His first year in Somei was not too bad, especially if you remain under the radar of those superior to you. Yokuto knew better than to not offend others above him. The Silver Clan had become such a group through their admission granted to them due to their influence in the hero community. Then again, that was after a member of the Iida family graduated and went off to Yuuei.
Young Yokuto would seclude himself from the rest of his class during the first year until he met a girl that would become his first friend in Somei. Her name was Lulu Hanakyu. Things were going good for them until Lulu angered the Silver Clan. The girl never mentioned to him what she did, but all she told him was that for her to stay strong for what she believes, she can't just let others dictate how she feels.
Through all his collective reasoning, Yokuto just could not believe that it had been announced that Lulu would be transferred to Somei's rival school, Kurai Ike Junior High. Their farewells to one another were tearful ones as the two friends would barely see one another due to the locations of their schools.
For the rest of his first year, Yokuto was alone once again and he did not dare speak to anyone else. It was then due to this seclusion that he would always sit alone during lunch period at the far back of the cafeteria. Summer then came and that is when his middle school life became his personal hell. Three seniors from Kurai had spotted him during break and knew of Lulu. They threatened to bully her for her former status as a Somei student unless Yokuto paid them each week.
For the whole summer break, Yokuto would give up his allowance each week to the Kurai seniors. He did not care though. He would do anything if it meant Lulu stayed safe. Once the second year begins, he would do the same thing as scheduled. He was told by them the week before that he should give them the money during lunch period at Somei's outer fence to avoid attention.
Like a good slave, Yokuto complied to their demands. Little did he know that after the first day that their demands were the least of his worries. The seniors had spotted him once again and had demanded for an increase in the payment. When asked why, they punched him for questioning. They then told him that the reason for the increase was because of the insolence of Lulu. They explained to him that their group leader had asked Lulu out, but she declined.
Upon hearing that Lulu was being hit on by some guy, Yokuto did something they did not expect and lashed out at the seniors. His puny physical strength was not enough, and the seniors beat him to the wall of the alley they were in. One of the three seniors crouched down to taunt the beaten Yokuto as his two friends wrecked the bike that Yokuto rode on.
Young Yokuto laid there helpless as he knew he could not do anything about it. Not even status and money could fix his problems. His parents were of no help either. He was just a weak boy living in a cruel world.
Well luckily for him, life decided to cut him a break.
"HEY BUB"
Yokuto and the bullies looked to the opening of the alley and they saw a new face enter the situation. The Seniors saw him as just some gaijin wearing a gakuran, but Yokuto remembered who this was. It was the new foreign student in his class. He stood firm, fists clenched, and a snarl on his face. Young Yokuto could barely remember the foreigner's name. Logan, was it?
"Back off from Feather Head, right now. I'm only going to say this once.", said Logan.
"Or what, gaijin? There is three of us. You can't win", said the senior.
"Quit talking like your pussyass fathers and come at me already.", mocked Logan.
"Oh, you're dead, gaijin", said the senior who was about to throw the first punch.
However, Logan caught the fist, pulled the arm, and grabbed the back of the senior's head. He then slammed the senior's face into the wall of the alley. The older teen had then slumped to the concrete floor.
Logan turned to the other two seniors and snared at them. The one at the back was intimidated, the one in front was visibly pissed off. He rushed at the young Canadian for a tackle, but Logan avoided the arms and kneed the older teen's testicles twice. After doing this, the young Canadian threw the squirming senior to the ground.
The third and final teen then took off running knowing now that this was a loss. Unfortunately, Logan was not done. The young Canadian lifted the ruined bike and tossed it at the fleeting teen. The collision caused the senior to be thrashed into a series of garbage bins and having a very nasty purple bruise at the back of his head.
Logan huffed in satisfaction at the sight of three dicks getting what was coming to them. He did not have to use his bone claws to boot. Cracking his neck, he looks to the still beaten up Yokuto. Half of his glasses were shattered, his feather hair was raffled up, clothes were dirty, and bruises were showing.
Logan looked at the already wrecked bike which was now more ruined by his toss. He scratched his head with slight guilt at the fact that he completely took away any chance of feather head's ride getting repaired. Deciding that he did not have a choice, he walks up to Yokuto and offers a hand.
"You need help, feather hair?", asked Logan.
Yokuto brushed the hand aside and struggled to stand.
"I don't need help. I can go myself", said Yokuto.
With his hand on the wall to keep him stable, Yokuto limped away to leave the alley. He was about to leave the alley, but the first senior that was beaten by Logan had gotten back up.
"You damn Somei bastards, how dare you do this to us. The Kurai Hawks will make you pay for this. Lulu is going to have no place to feel safe once we ruin her status. Yokuto, you and your gaijin friend can go to hell", proclaimed the older teen.
The Kurai senior then turned his fist into a ball of rock and ran to punch Yokuto. His attempt was unsuccessful when Logan cut the attacker's leg with his bone claws. The young Canadian made sure to not cut too deep. The Kurai senior scrambles in his footing due to the pain and the slight bleeding. As he stuttered pathetically, Logan roundhouse kicked his face, knocking him out.
"Bub, you're a mess", taunt Logan as he spat at the unconscious teen.
Logan walked to Yokuto and carried him over his shoulder. The feather haired teen tried to get himself off, but he realized that he was to hurt to do anything about it. Also, the Canadian just has too much of a strong grip and physical strength.
"Why are you doing this? This doesn't concern you", said Yokuto.
"Bub, just shut it. You're beaten to hell and by the time your limp home it will be the middle of the night. I'm at least helping you to get on your property. You can limp your way to the front door from there", said Logan.
Knowing that he does not have any word in the matter, Yokuto just slumped on the Canadian's shoulder for the rest of the trip. As they traverse the streets, the feather haired teen dreamt of Lulu. The good times they had together plagued him so. Near the end of the dream, he was awakened by Logan setting him down on the concrete sidewalk that was in front of his house.
Yokuto looked up to see Logan putting both of their backpacks down along with two canned drinks. The metallic can read iced coffee. He was able to get his can open while Logan already took a swig.
"Don't like ice coffee?", asked Logan.
"It's fine. I just don't drink it often", answered Yokuto who took his first taste of it. The two had then enjoyed their drinks for a while until the feather haired teen asked Logan on how he found his home. The young Canadian said that he looked through Yokuto's belongings until he found his small booklet that held a few addresses and phone numbers. Ironically, Yokuto's home address was on the last page of the booklet.
Logan and Yokuto remained there in silence until they both finished their coffees. They got off the sidewalk and departed from each other without a word to the other person as both wanted this day to end. However, Yokuto had then been thinking on the ramifications of what transpired today. Lulu was no doubt going to be on the Kurai Hawks' chopping block. They would do it too. They would hurt her just out of their hate for Somei and to get to him.
Yokuto then looked at his hands. How weak they were. How fragile he was. How pathetic his mere existence was. Scratching the sides of his head, he felt the feathers that were blended with his human hair. There is nothing he could possibly do to help Lulu from those Neanderthals.
'Wait', Yokuto thought. He then looked to the departing foreigner. The one named Logan. Sharp bone claws. Fighting talent. And although they are the same age, the Canadian has proven to have a superior athletic build. They don't know each other that well and the culture gap might play as a disadvantage, but this Logan character was his best and only chance. He will need his help to secure Lulu's safety.
"Excuse me", Yokuto called out as he caught up to Logan. The young Canadian turned around to see Yokuto who stood straight.
"Your name is Logan, yes? My name is Yokuto Toriashi. If you have the time, then it is important to me that you and I should meet again tomorrow. Can you accept this?", Yokuto said with a bow.
Logan didn't understand what caused this flip in character, but he figured it must be important if the sudden desperation in Yokuto's voice was any indication.
"So, that's your name. Alright then Yokuto, I'll meet with you tomorrow. Tell me where though", said Logan.
"During lunch period, at the table I sat before. We can talk more then", said Yokuto.
"Fine, I'll meet you then", agreed Logan.
"Thank you, have a pleasant evening, Logan-san", said Yokuto as he bowed to the Canadian and went back to his house.
Logan watched the feather haired teen enter his home and thought of what the guy might want from him. Somei was really starting to get weird, but there was nothing he could do about it now. A hell of a first day.
Knowing that he could only get answers tomorrow, Logan took the long way home. From street to street, he walked through the twilighted city and saw what the nightlife was like from a civilian point of view. It was just like what he said to Creed a few months ago. There was something about Japan that brought him bliss and yet pain. Whatever could have happened to him in his past life on his old earth's Japan must have been tragic for him to have such feelings. God, if he could only just get his memories back like the others. But like Doom said, there's something in his head that's not letting him remember.
As he looked at the setting sun, Logan could tell from the scent of the air that there aren't that many heroes who walk the night. From what Eddie told him, there were at least a handful of pro-heroes that bothered to even take the night shift.
'I guess people prefer the sunlight. They might think it's the only time that they'll ever shine for the camera', thought Logan.
Brushing his dark brown hair with his fingers, Logan let out a breath and wondered what tomorrow would be like. He continued his walk and then spotted his apartment complex. He went up to his floor and knocked on the door. He could tell Creed was in there by the scent he was picking up. The door then opened to reveal a slightly annoyed Creed.
"And where the hell have you been all afternoons?", asked Creed.
"Getting into trouble on purpose", answered Logan.
Creed looked at Logan's uniform. It wasn't too ruined, but there were hints of a scuffle. He wasn't going to blame Logan. God knows there are a few people out there who need an ass kicking.
"Whatever then, come on bub. Mrs M made us dinner.", said Creed as he walked to the table.
Logan walked in but did not sit with Creed to eat. He instead went to his room as he unbuttoned his gakuran. His brother noticed that he did not go for the food. Probably wanted to change before digging in. getting out his shield communicator, it read that the time was eight o'clock.
'Time to talk the assholes', thought Creed as he switched to live screen chat. Upon activation, he was greeted by Victor von Doom and Erik Lesher in a discussion while Eddie Brock was eating a cup of ramen. The new yorker didn't really care for what the Latverian and German had to say of what they had planned and neither did Creed.
"So what are you schmucks talking about?",asked Creed.
"Doom and Erik are talking about the recent stuff that went on in Finland. Punisher and Black Knight were able to remove all Hydra influence in the country. I can only guess how many politicians and soldiers Frank had killed. Though during that bloodbath, Percy managed to get the Zodiac relic that was hidden there", explained Eddie.
"So how come you're not caring?", asked Creed.
"Because instead discussing how our monitors are doing, they're just talking about how much they want to destroy Hydra", answered Eddie.
"Should've figured. Hey nerds, are we going to waste time talking about our enemies? or are we going to actually have a discussion that I might give a shit about, otherwise I'm going back to my dinner", said Creed.
Doom and Erik then broke from their discussion and eyed the blunt Canadian. Upon closer look, Doom has bags under his eyes as Erik has his hair tied back.
"And the prodigal idiot finally reveals himself. You're an hour late, Creed", said Doom.
"Well, I'm here now. So, what's going on?", said Creed.
Now as a whole team, the four reincarnates discuss what the next day will bring them. They started with the possible Asgardian living in Iceland. From the report made by TrickShot, Forge sent a copy to Doom to check for himself.
"So, what's the verdict Doom? Is this Ormur an Asgardian?", asked Erik.
"Mjolnir is in Iceland too. Maybe this guy is a reincarnated Thor", said Eddie.
"The report is pretty much a summary of how Thor was on Earth when he lost his memories and the hammer. ProbablyDaddy dearest decided to pull the whole exile thing again on ol'e goldy locks", said Creed.
Doom contemplated on the subject. To him, the reports were accurate due to it being based on bio scans from his biomatrix software. While true, Asgardians have a similar anatomy structure to humans. Their cellular structure, however, is a whole other story. One interesting discovery from the report is that the reincarnated Asgardian race holds no quirk gene in their biology. Certain alien races in the refugee camps at Area 51 have the mysterious quirk gene in their DNA. So how come Asgardians were denied quirks? It was a sheer advantage for the people of earth. Then again, Asgardians never needed biological abilities to prove that they were indeed mighty foes.
"The report doesn't lie. This Ormur is indeed Asgardian. Both the bioscans and the appearance of Mjolnir are proof of this. The only question left unanswered is whether or not he is related to said thunder god", concluded Doom.
"The proximity of the target and the hammer is just too good of a coincidence. The possibility of him being a reincarnated Thor is very valid", said Erik.
"Yes, but so the fact that others not of the royal family have wielded the hammer. There's also a possibility that the Norse pantheon is following a different set of rules. Due to the occurrence of reincarnation, they might not even be the same gods we once knew", explained Doom.
"So pretty much all we could do is wait and see for Trickshot to give us the answer", said Eddie.
"Let's hope the bastard doesn't decide to wreck the Island. Alright, what's next?", said Creed.
Their next discussion was on the recently retrieved Zodiac relic. The Aquarius Gauntlets. Much like the Scorpio Muramasa, the relic too originated from the inventive hands of Leonardo Da Vinci and stored within the hollow earth chambers of Europe. Unfortunately, Hydra had gotten to it before anyone else did. Punisher and Black Knight were able to track it down to the Finland government palace which was being used as a secret Hydra communications station.
"The Punisher and Black Knight had used their interrogation techniques to get answers from a pro-hero who was secretly a Hydra agent. The now dead man had given them all that he could spew out. Knowing that the palace would be hard to get in with just the two of them. They then enlisted the aid of the Finnish rebellion and successfully invaded the palace", summarized Doom.
"I guess without cannon fodder, most of Frank's plans wouldn't work", said Eddie.
"And what of the Aquarius Gauntlets? How were they able to retrieve them?", asked Erik.
"It wasn't easy. Even with most of Hydra's guns no longer aimed at them, powerful cosmic artifacts were a must-protect in our enemy's eyes. Having dealt with a large sum of foot soldiers, the two had made it to a massive Titanium made chamber that housed the Gauntlets. As well as other things", explained Doom.
"I'm going to go on a whim and say that these other things are probably fucked up experiments turned freak shows", said Creed.
"You'd be half right. Protecting the Gauntlets were brainwashed individuals who showed indications that they were of the biologically enhanced army of the Sons of Da Vinci. After executing them, Punisher and Black Knight proceeded to bioscan them to confirm their obvious previous allegiances. Five of these enhanced soldiers would have been a difficult battle, but due to Hydra brainwashing overlapping with the Sons' own they weren't the most mentally capable. These now deceased Sons super soldiers were numerically identified by their tattoos as V4, V6, V7, V8, and V10. After that, they were able to obtain the Aquarius Gauntlets. However, the relics were trapped in an Adamantium case locked with an electronic scanner that needed a keycard.", explained Doom.
"Are the relics that powerful for there to be that much security?", asked Erik.
"Punisher thought the same and sought footage of any Hydra experimentation on the relics. Upon turning the palace into ruin, he did manage to find footage that revealed something interesting.", explained doom.
Doom then showed a video of Hydra scientists performing scans of the relics. The footage then pans over to a set of monitors that were being viewed by the Hydra scientists. The screens had then shown certain details acquired from the scans on the relic. They showed the engravings etched into the blue metal of the Gauntlets. These engravings had held a familiarity with the Latverian, German, and Canadian.
"Certainly, I don't have to explain just where the great Leonardo gained the inspiration to have created these relics.", said Doom.
"Without a doubt, the Aquarius Gauntlets are of ancient Atlantean design. Which means the kingdom of Atlantis has been reincarnated into this Earth as well", said Erik.
"And that also means a really annoying fishman with winged feet is here too. I'm really not looking forward to seeing him again.", said Creed.
"When Namor does finally reveal himself, let me deal with him. Due to our history, he'll probably be more compliant with a familiar face.", said Doom.
"I don't get it though. By that logic, Leonardo had worked with the Atlantians back in the ancient times. Currently, it's 2174, so how come Atlantis hasn't been discovered yet", said Eddie.
"I could come up with several theories, but none could be proven at the moment. For now, let's continue the footage.", said Doom.
The video then continued to a segment of the experiment where two Hydra agents, one male and one female, stood in front of the display that held the Gauntlets. The man was then instructed to put on the Gauntlets to see the reaction. Upon wearing them, the man had started to shake violently and kept shaking until he fell to the floor. The monitors had shown that the man's heart and brain had ceased functioning. After a few seconds, the corpse of the dead Hydra male had started to float and then glew with what could be considered cosmic energy. The glowing stopped and the body suddenly converted itself into lifeless water.
It would then be the female's turn to put on the Gauntlets. Upon wearing them, the woman's irises glowed a bluish color and the water that was once the man had begun to flow around her. She too had begun to float in the air, only to be converted into lifeless water as well.
"At least the chick had a less painful ending", said Creed.
"This does however prove the theory of the relics are gender based. Most likely, only a female Atlantean can wield the Aquarius Gauntlets.", concluded Doom.
"Which means Hydra will be making Atlantis a possible target later. Yet another reason to eliminate them as soon as possible.", said Erik.
"Well that's all there is happening in Europe. Is there anything else we should know about?", asked Eddie.
"No, that's all Forge wrote to us in the weekly report. Other than Iceland and Finland, there really aren't any reincarnate related incidents in the world for us to worry about at the moment. So for now, let's take this time to discuss what Yuuei has planned for us tomorrow.", said Doom.
"Ugh, do we have to? Seriously, day one of that place was a headache already. Do we really need to talk about those shit teachers and our even shittier classmates?", said Creed aggressively blunt.
"How you feel doesn't concern the mission, Creed. However, I do agree with the notion of how exactly a discussion of our time in the academy is of any importance.", said Erik.
"Considering that it holds major relations with Izuku Midoriya and that we are to be a part of them for the next three years, I do see the importance. As of which, I got into Yuuei's staff servers and found the surprise that they have planned for us. Tomorrow will begin at homeroom with an specifically informative reminder of the Yuuei SHIELD partnership from professor Aizawa. The first impressions we made will most likely play a factor in how our Japanese peers will view us for the near future. We already know Aizawa is not the guy to play favourites, so it would be beneficial for social efficiency to know our new quote on quote companions.", explained Doom.
Upon his proclamation, several holographic screens popped up with views of files of each of the students of Class 1-A. This caused the three other reincarnates to give their squad leader a critical look.
"So, you decided to hack into a school's private server and stole personal information that belongs to fifteen-year-old high schoolers.", said Eddie.
That statement caused Doom to cup his chin and think for a few seconds.
"Well, when you say it like that.", said an annoyed Doom.
"The only one we need to concern ourselves with is Izuku Midoriya. Every single one of them in that classroom holds no business with us.", said Erik.
"True, Erik. However, curiosity has been a staple of humanity since its beginnings. We can't turn a blind if any of them gets a bit too close. they have already seen the slight relationship we have with Izuku. I have of course kept my distance and planned for any contingency that will hold true for the coming days. Especially for any possible villain attacks.", explained Doom.
"Makes sense. All-Might is going to be a teacher tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if any of his old enemies or some new ones start popping up eventually.", said Eddie.
"Exactly, so to better prepare for when that day comes, we will need to evaluate the possible quirks that will be useful for when conflicts arise. We've already seen the basic functions of their abilities, but tomorrow will give us more to examine. After homeroom will be your usual highschool classes, but they will all lead to our final class period, the hero course.", said Doom.
"About the class that Izuku will be excited for. With All-Might being a teacher, us showing off is a much do.", said Creed.
"In that case, Tomorrow will be perfect. The first topic to be learned is merely a battle trial. It will be structured as two teams of two battling in a testing sight. Possibly as a form of dual power combinations. The teams will be made via random selection. Risky, but realistic.", explained Doom.
"Hell yes, this is going to be so damn fun. I just hope our partners aren't going to ruin it", said a grinning Creed.
"And with that discussed, this meeting is over. We will do this again next Monday. I'm going back to my development of new tech for SHIELD. You three can go whatever you want for the night.", said Doom as his call ended.
"His ego certainly didn't die down after today. However, he has a point. Be seeing you two tomorrow", departed Erik.
"Yeah, see ya Creed", departed Eddie.
With their chat ended, young Victor Creed turned off his communicator and closed his eyes. Three years is still way too long for this shit. Living in Japan for nearly a year, hoping to be in another big SHIELD mission again, and being a bodyguard for a Japanese teen who will one day be a hulk level hero. Looking at his own hands, it still gets to him that he's fifteen again. At least in this life he can go to a highschool that won't treat him like a freak. He never did got the chance in his previous life.
Being young is great, but it's overall hell. But at least he has people that can actually take care of him. Peggy isn't Nick Fury. She's better. After getting both Logan and him out of poverty, SHIELD has been nothing but good for them. She was the Captain America of her earth for God's sake. By all means, she has his eternal loyalty.
It was after recalling a few memories that Victor Creed noticed that Logan still hasn't eaten yet. Sighing at the inevitable brother talk they'll have, he walked to the room of the younger Canadian to check up on him. Standing in front of the door, he knocked twice.
"Hey, Logan. I'm coming in.", said Creed as he proceeded to open the door.
As he enters, Creed sees that Logan is resting on his bed. His adopted brother was just staring at the ceiling of his room.
"Everything alright? Because you didn't bother to eat.", said Creed.
"I don't feel like it", said Logan. This made Creed feel awkward. He wasn't the type to encourage others in being positive. He has been Logan's brother for a while now, but it never got easier when being the guy to raise him. He was lucky enough for Director Carter to step in from time to time to act as a parental figure, but she wasn't here now.
"Considering we both have healing factors; I won't argue with you there. Just know this, it was only the first day. It might not get better, or it might not get worse. You don't have to tell me what went wrong, but I'm here for you. So, if you want to, just sum what went down and I'll try to think of an answer.", said Creed.
Young Logan turned his head to the older Canadian teen and summarized what his day was like.
"It started out like how I thought it would. Both the teachers and students don't like me, because I'm a foreign outsider to them. So far none of them have tried to pick on me, yet. They all have just ignored me. At the end of day, I haven't had much trouble with any of them. That was until a guy from my class was getting a beatdown in an alleyway. These three ass holes from some other school were all over him and well… I got involved.", explained Logan.
'Just being Wolverine as always, huh Logan?', thought Logan.
"Alright, so after that you helped the guy out?", asked Creed.
"After I saved him, I dragged him to his home and out of the blue he just straight up asked me to meet him at lunch tomorrow. He seemed a whole lot desperate when he asked", said Logan.
"Any clue to why he would want to see you again", asked Creed.
Scratching his head, Logan remembered what that rock handed senior. He mentioned a girl's name and the rest was just a threat.
"One of the guys in the alleyway. He pretty much threatened to hurt somebody my classmate knew. Probably think he and I were friends.", said Logan.
"So that's it. On your first day, you got involved in a bullying problem and now you caused another bullying problem. Well at this point, diplomacy doesn't cut it anymore. The fact that these punks just threatened to hurt somebody is a signal that they're playing for keeps", explained Creed.
"So what should I do?", asked Logan.
"Overall, I guess you should just hear the guy out. He seems to know these bastards more than you. So maybe he'll want your help to get rid of them. Who did they threaten to hurt though?", said Creed.
"From the sounds of it, they said they'll go after some girl", said Logan.
"Oh, yeah I see where this is going. Go ahead, I guess. This might be your chance to make a name for yourself in that school. It's always good to street cred when being with rich ass holes", said Creed.
That got Logan thinking. Does he even want to be somebody in that school? Getting the attention of so many people that already didn't like him wasn't a good thing the last time he checked.
"I'm not sure that's a good thing. Somei pretty much has a hierarchy it's happy with.",said Logan.
"All the more reason to show off and be the new alpha. So, who is it? The richest kid? The jock? Or is it the typical diva who will force her way to being queen?", asked Creed.
"It's actually some group of students. I don't know what makes them special, but I'll ask the guy tomorrow. Seriously, it was the first day and one of their members warned me to not piss them off", said Logan.
"Sounds like some pussy club. Do they have a name too?", asked Creed.
"They call themselves 'The Silver Clan'. All I got were their names. The one that warned me was some chick named Yukio. She told me to stay away from her friend Mariko Yashida. Really crazy, right?", said Logan nonchalantly.
After not getting a response, Logan looked to a surprise Creed. Upon hearing those names, the older Canadian immediately got out his SHIELD communicator and searched through the installed R.C.S. for a certain Japanese villain they knew from their old multiverse. Finding what he needed, he displayed for young Logan to see.
"The Japanese Pro-hero in shiny bulletproof armor, Shingen Yashida. Otherwise known as The Silver Samurai. Inheriting the name from his father, Ichiro Yashida, this guy would continue the family legacy as the fourth to have that corny title. Other than being the biggest example of overcompensating, he is well known in the country as the eternal number eleven", explained Creed.
"The eternal number eleven. What kind of hierarchical nickname is that?", asked Logan.
"Something that stuck on since the family's close relations with the Hero Public Safety Commission. The Silver Samurai agency is promoted by the Commission and that's saying mildly, considering that the Yashida family are marked by the hero community as the gatekeepers to the top ten ranks", answered Creed.
"So, the commission pays him to stay in the eleventh rank", said Logan.
"More like he's actually a member", said Creed.
Victor Creed had then explained to Logan of the Samurai's involvement in the Commission. The Silver Samurai is assigned to monitor the Japanese hero community for any possible talent and potential for when it's time to update the rankings. Those at the top three earned their positions for a reason. Those beneath them were judged by the Commission and the Silver Samurai for if any of them were still worthy of their placement. Some pro-heroes say that he is just as efficient and skillful as a certain winged hero named Hawks who is currently the number three top hero. It still left them puzzled as to why he refuses to be moved up. Ever since the first Silver Samurai, the Yashida family has been watching the Japanese hero community to weed out the pathetic from those they deem as truly heroic.
"So that's how the hero ranking system in Japan works. Some shiny bub picks them out", said Logan.
"Only if it doesn't matter to the Commission as a whole. If it's not All-Might related, they really don't give a damn. So back on your classmates, this Silver Clan they call themselves are probably made up of the kids of the adults in the Yashida family. That girl, Mariko Yashida, she's Shingen's daughter", said Creed.
"That explains the warning I got. From what I'm seeing in this display, it's telling me about everyone except for this guy. Keniuchio Harada.", said Logan.
"He might be the biggest reason why SHIELD doesn't make contact with the Yashida family. Sadly, little brother, you don't have the memories of this guy from the old Earth. So I'll just tell you from what I remember. Harada and his clan may be on the hero side now, but before, they were a crime syndicate in Japan. During our time, he was the Silver Samurai and he hated you the most", said Creed.
"The hell did I do to him?", asked Logan.
"You pretty much ruined any chance he had to be the top dog of Japan. It was a good thing you did too, because the Country would have been unlivable back in the previous life", answered Creed.
"Okay. So… would that mean that Peggy won't give the Yashida's their memories back, because they'll probably just try to go after me again.", said Logan.
"That and they would just find a way to corrupt the Japanese government. Can't have that when All-Might and his successor lives here. It's better for everyone that this one reincarnate doesn't get his memories back", said Creed.
"What about Mariko and Yukio? Know anything about them too?", asked Logan.
"I don't really know them personally, but overall they were involved in most incidents related to Harada. I guess tread carefully tomorrow and stick to this Yokuto guy for now. This 'Silver Clan' will only lead to trouble. Then again, it's a matter of time before they realize you're gaining street cred if you want it. Good night Logan, maybe tomorrow will cut both of us some slack", said a tired Creed.
As Victor Creed left the room and shut the door, Logan remained on his bed with now more to think about. It was the first day and already he ran into an old enemy of his. And then there were those two girls. They didn't seem the type to be those assholes. Then again, he didn't know that much about them. For now, he'll just focus on Yokuto and that request he wanted. And like that, the young Canadian slept with hope that he dreamt something good.
… The Next Day …
Young Logan opens his eyes to the audible sound of Creed's alarm.
"Ugh, shit", could be heard from the older Canadian's room. Logan wondered why Creed isn't used to the sound of an alarm by now considering he's a SHIELD operative.
Both brothers got dressed in their respective uniforms and heated up whatever they had in the fridge for breakfast. As they drank their coffees, they contemplated on what today may hold for them. Logan was to meet a classmate to discuss how they could save some girl from some rival school. Creed, although he didn't show it, was excited for what the hero course has for him and the squad.
Finally, a chance to let some tension out and punch someone's face. The pussyass frenchy. Motor legs. The dumbass spark plug. The midget. Or that blonde firecracker.
'Oh please let me fight firecracker', thought an eager Creed.
With bellies full, teeth brushed, and fucks not given, the Canadians left their living space with their packs and knocked on Midoriya's door comedically.
"Let's go Green Bean. Asses aren't going kick themselves", said Creed bluntly.
"Coming, Creed-kun", said Izuku putting on his shoes.
Izuku Midoriya was excited for today. All-Might messaged him that he would be teaching the hero course and that the lesson was something necessary for his progress in his quirk. The fact that they get to put on their costumes for the first time was enough to make him more ecstatic.
Saying bye to his mother, Izuku opened the door to be greeted by his two neighbors. The three then walked to the station and took the next train. After Logan's stop, the two Yuuei students road their way to their academy. Much like yesterday, a certain Latverian had already arrived before anyone.
… Yuuei Academy, Before Homeroom …
Young Victor von Doom sat alone in the morning once again and spent that time working on more blueprints. The armor was complete. All that was needed was a field test. Thus, he continued on with other developments. Currently, he's designing structural integrity on the new installments in the Helicarrier's engines to provide better flight control. Next to that, he plans on creating smaller but similar installments for the quinjets.
As he draws out the designs, Doom contemplates on whether he should continue research on his own quirk. His quirk gene is unlike any that he has seen from the SHIELD medical records. The number of forms and patterns the cells take shape of may have a finite amount, but it was still inconclusive to purpose this held biologically. For now, all he knew of his quirk was that it was a form of particle manipulation. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same type of power of that of Owen Reece. In a way, it would be comparable to the powers of Scarlet Witch, but to a lesser extent and minus the magical properties.
Only time could tell what this life had in store for the young Latverian.
As Doom put down the pencil and massaged the sides of his head, he relaxed his mind from the numerous equations and theories. If he had to be honest, it felt good knowing that he's considered as the current smartest person on the planet. The only thing that's hell about it was that he had to constantly create new technology to keep up with himself. The Earth may be reaching the late 2100's, but it's still far behind with what they had back in their original multiverse.
Closing the notebook, he then starts to hope that maybe today's battle trials could give the relief he needed.
"Good morning, Doom-san. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who sees the importance of perfect punctuality", greeted Tenya Iida.
'Oh god, not this fucking guy', thought an annoyed Doom.
"Good morning, Iida. I'm sure you are thrilled for the possibility of finally learning actual heroics education", greeted back Doom who kept his impassive expression.
"Indeed, I'm prepared to fully obtain the wisdom of our academy's renown professors. Surely, you have to have some curiosity to what may occur in our time here", said Iida as he performed odd hand gestures that expressed his own curiosity.
"If I had to be honest, I preferred to keep my expectations on certain matters low to avoid feeling disappointed. True, Yuuei academy is considered the best hero school in Japan. However, I learned long ago to be acceptable to any possibility that may occur. I can only hope today doesn't bore me", said Doom with his arms crossed.
"I see, you definitely seem to keep yourself in a state of mind you're very much satisfied with. Seeing how you and your three comrades will be with us as Yuuei students representing SHIELD, would it be alright to ask you on how you feel to be a hero in training?", asked Iida as he stood there with his hand to his chin.
Time slowed down as young Victor von Doom mentally asked himself that. He has long since taken up the role of an armoured hero who utilized surgical tactics and brute force to deliver swift justice. Then again, that was how he died. Calling himself IronMan and taking a condensed stream of dark magical energy to the chest. He could still feel the phantom pains thanks to the memories Carter unlocked for him.
Now here he was. Victor von Doom. Former villain. Re-established armoured vigilante. High level SHIELD operative put on hold. Reason for that, he was attending high school for the first time in his new existence. In his first life, he never went to highschool. Latveria back then, and now, had no suitable conditions to allow proper education to the next generation. In his adolescence, he had simply educated himself through everything his parents had left behind upon their death.
Victor von Doom knows he will have passing grades. It's just in his nature. He'd prefer a role as a teacher than just some degrading students. But they were Carter's orders and he was honored bound to follow them. Still, it's going to be infuriating and boring to learn things he already knew. But back on topic, what did he feel about being a hero in training?
If Doom had to be honest, he actually holds some interest in what the current youths have to offer in their paths of becoming heroes. Their flaws, specifically, are another interest. Understandably, this is foreign ground and thus he should expect some differences in ideology. Nevertheless, liabilities were things he wouldn't tolerate. From neither teen or adult. For now though, they have his patience. Only he can decide to be what kind of hero he wills himself to be, not their unstable society.
"How do I feel? Well Iida, that just depends on how straight to the point this system is going to be. I hold no negativity to what may be considered as a pro-hero in Japan's standards, especially since the number one hero of this country is All-Might. I'm just one part of the program. Until we acquire any form of licensing, we are simply students. Nothing more. The only difference between a pro-hero and a SHIELD operative are their methods. I believe later on you will see that", answered Doom with a neutral tone.
"yes, I do know of the rather unstable relations between the hero community and the SHIELD organization. Considering such, I have only heard some out looks on the topic from media and personal sources. I can assure you that as we have only recently met, I will gladly treat you and the other SHIELD representatives like they were our fellow peers", proclaimed Iida.
"That's all we ask. Thank you", said Doom as he replaced his personal notebook with his school notebook.
Victor von Doom and Tenya Iida remained in silence as the only two students to have arrived early. The spectacle wearing teen had sat in his assigned desk and started to write notes in his personal agenda. The only Latverian of Class 1-A merely rested in his desk with his arms crossed. He hopes that this will be all the talking that he will have for today. There are times when he himself can be social, but remaining by his lonesome was just something he's familiar with.
Some time passed as the rest of the students arrived either by themselves or in a group. Doom kept count and knew that his teammates would arrive later than the rest. And of their Japanese peers, the ones to have yet to arrive were Midoriya, of course, and the teen with the red and white hair. Shoto Todoroki, was it? From what he read in the student files, he is the son of the number two hero Endeavor and was accepted into Yuuei through recommendations. Gifted with both of his parent's quirks, the ability to summon fire and ice has yet to be fully tested. Though his personality could use some work. Then again, he could say the same for himself. He really hopes today's battle trial would give him something to look forward to.
… Meanwhile at the Entrance of Yuuei …
"Morning Erick"
"Morning Eddie"
The American and German greeted one another as they entered the main building of Yuuei. As they traverse through the halls of the academy, their presence draws stares from the Japanese peers. As the two foreigners walked in silence, they could feel the eyes and the opinions behind them.
Erik Lesher was already used to this. Being judged was common where he was forged from. Whether as a mutant in an unforgiven society or a simple wanderer in a foreign land, he knew the feeling all too well.
Eddie Brock however hated the feeling. His quirk allowed him to sense the many emotions the Japanese teens around were emitting. A girl to his right was intimidated by his size. A boy behind them was uneasy and nervous. He probably must have seen either of them during their overkill performance back at the entrance exam. Some other student was just flat out racist and felt disgusted that Yuuei would accept foreigners.
"They really like looking at us, don't they? Kinda make ya paranoid of this place", said Eddie.
"Or it's due to the principal giving the staff permission to reveal our presence as SHIELD representatives. And since there are only four of us currently, it would only be natural that those that we be surrounded by would label us as black sheep.", said Erik with disdain.
They finally made their way to an elevator that will take them to the class 1-A homeroom. Unknown to them, a classmate of theirs was making his way to them.
"While we're on the topic of there being four of us, have you or Doom got anything from Yelena yet? It's been a while since we heard from her", said Eddie.
"That would be due to the time crunching training they're doing. Our squad had all of five years to be as good as we are now. For them though, Yelena already had her fill since she trained alongside us. Her squad however didn't. Two energy beings and the Juggernaut would definitely be hell to initiate if they are committed to be a part of the SHIELD youth division. As for when they'll be joining us in Yuuei, Carter's recent notification confirms that they'll be with us tomorrow", explained Erik.
"So they're finally done. Huh, thought it would take longer…", said Eddie, but was cut off as he and Erik felt a presence behind them.
Turning around, they were met by a silent Shoto Todoroki who merely acknowledged their presence with silence. He then considered just letting out his intentions due to the awkwardness.
"You're taking this elevator to get to class, right?", asked Shoto.
"Yes, we are", answered Erik as minimal as he liked.
"I see", said Shoto also as minimal.
The three then waited in silence as the elevator finally arrived to pick them up. They entered and the silence still continued. To Eddie and Erik, the silence was rather… chilli. No pun intended.
"So, Shoto, right? Are you ready for today?",asked eddie.
Shoto remained silent.
"You're a recommendation student, correct? You must be very excelled to have acquired such status", asked Erick.
Shoto Todoroki didn't want to talk to either of them. They were just SHIELD. An organization that didn't interest him. For all he knew, they were just in Yuuei to scout out any worthy recruits. He already has his mind set on a goal and he doesn't plan to change that.
"I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to fulfill a goal, not be involved in whatever global gimmicks you two are familiar with. You're in a place that doesn't belong to you, so just stay out of the way", said Shoto coldly.
The rest of the elevator ride had been both silent and tense. The metal contraption had been filled with a metaphorical chill from all three of its passengers.
'Well fuck you too', thought both Eddie and Erik as glared at the scarred teen.
The elevator opened and shoto was the first to exit. The two reincarnates behind exited next, but didn't follow their 'quote on quote' peer.
"That's the second time I wanted to crush someone in that elevator", said Erik with aggravation in his voice.
"Hopefully, one of us gets to fight him today", said Eddie now more excited to punch someone.
The two then walked closer to the room until they heard a voice on the opposite side of the hall call to them.
"Sup A-holes", in front of them was Victor Creed with Izuku Midoriya next to him.
"Good morning Creed. I hoped your morning was uneventful", said Erik with a drawl.
"Nah, it was just like yesterday. Drop off Logan and show up last with green bean here", said Creed with hand ruffling Izuku's green hair.
"How about you Izuku? Doing alright after what happened yesterday?", asked Eddie as he remembered Midoriya's powerful throw from the quirk apprehension test.
"O-oh, I'm doing alright Eddie-san. It will take some time, but now I got a good idea of where to start with this quirk", answered Izuku with mild positivity for yesterday's results.
"Finally growing that confidence I see. Soon you'll be able call yourself a badass in no time", said grinning Creed.
"As decent as it is to hear your progression midoriya. We should really get to class, less we agitate Aizawa's tolerance even more with our presence as it is", said Erik.
"Aizawa can go sit on a fat one. That guy couldn't be less tense if he was forced to", said Creed.
The Japanese Greenete and his three foreign bodyguards would then enter the classroom. The three specifically gaining a few stares as Izuku walked to his assigned desk. As he did, Bakugou glared at him as he got closer. The fanboy went straight into nervousness upon eye contact, but was then brought out of it when he felt the three behind needing to go through.
Bakugou's glaring was then stopped when he noticed the three foreigners behind Izuku glaring at him now. He shot a more scathing glare at the Canadian who he remembered one-shotted him last year. By this time, Izuku had sat down and his bodyguards had ceased hate to finally get to their desks.
Doom and Erik nodded to another as a silent greeting. Eddie and Creed had simply rested their heads in their arms. The four boys at this point just let the day pass by as they took in the environment. They ignored Aizawa's segment, Present Mic's English period was way too easy, and the rest of the morning classes had some rather… interesting… teachers. Lunch period was also uneventful and they were grateful for that.
As they situated themselves on the far end of a long table, Creed could see Izuku sitting with Iida and Ochako. The three having a peaceful lunch and being visited by the cooking hero Lunch Rush. He was satisfied to see green bean making friends with other students, even if a majority of them are a bunch of panzies.
"Getting jealous, Creed", said Eddie.
"No, jackass, I'm not. It's just good to that green living life how he sees it without us tracking him each time", said Creed.
"Isn't that the mission though? He's the sole reason we're stuck in this damn school after all", said Erik.
"Let me and Creed worry about our target's progression with his quirk. Considering that the classes are simple enough and our peers keep their distance, things are going surprisingly smoothly for us", said Doom.
"Plus the food's great", said Eddie as he down his fifth bowl of pork cutlets.
"Definitely a notable thing to be admired", said Erik agreeing with Eddie.
As they ate, Creed just remembered that something else was happening around this time. Over at Somei, his little brother was going to be meeting some punk about a scheme to rescue some chick. He could only hope that whatever it was going to be doesn't come back to bite Logan's ass.
… meanwhile at Somei …
Young Logan was feeling average, to say the least. He understood his lessons, hated the first batch of homework they gave him, and everyone kept their distance from him. He could safely assume that this will be an everyday gag for him. Looking out at the window, he wondered what life would be like if Creed and him never left Canada. Would they still be wildmen who did nothing but hunt for food? Or could they have found a way to be heroes?
The young Canadian then looked at his right hand and allowed only a small bit of his bone claws to stick out. Seriously, how can he be a hero with these things. He's killed with these. One human and any animal that he hunted for food. He will never forget that night, but he wished to God he could.
'Why? Just why did I have to get my powers like that?', thought Logan.
Retracting his claws back in, Logan waited for the class to just end already. One class of math was already enough to make him want to sleep. As soon as the bell rang, the feather haired teen in front of him, Yokuto, nodded to him. As usual, the Silver Clan were the first to leave. Everyone including Yokuto left the room with Logan being the last to leave.
The Silver Clan sat at their table and did their daily routine during the lunch period. The girls would be on their phone and bites from their meals. The boys would either boast of their latest achievement or talk about any plans for the weekends. Some of the students in the cafeteria eyed them with either envy, admiration, or a sense of being worthless.
Logan's eyes however had no such feelings. He saw nothing special about them. They were just privileged punks with no idea how lucky they are to live this way. It may sound unfair to hate a family for what they did in a past life, but it seemed some things didn't change.
But right now, they weren't the main focus. Logan remembered what needed to happen and it was waiting for him at a table on the far end of the cafeteria. With his tray in his hand, he walked over to Yokuto's table and saw his feathered haired classmate taking small bites from his rice. As soon as the young Canadian sat down, the two made eye contact and held an awkward silence that didn't help start things.
"Thank you for agreeing to see me. I can understand if my request was rather sudden", started Yokuto who adjusts his glasses.
"Yeah, you kind of put me on spot there. But here I am, so it's not like I'm a dishonest person", responded Logan.
"I don't know if you heard this before, but your Japanese is surprisingly good. You see, Somei doesn't receive many foreigners into their student body", said Yokuto.
"I pretty much got the brunt of that from my first meeting with the principal. But right now, I'm here about that scene back in the alleyway. Am I right to guess that they aren't a one time show?", asked Logan.
Yokuto remembered everything that they had done to him. Considering that he was someone with barely anything to lose, he might as well let his heart out to this foreigner.
"Yes, you'd be right. The Kurai Hawks have tormented me since my first year in this school. The money I gave them. The beatings I've taken. All to make sure that they leave a dear friend of mine alone. As of recent events, it no longer matters. They will hurt her, and eventually they'll come after us", said Yokuto.
"Sounds like a hell of a time. But what's the plan? I can get whoever she is might be the light of your life, but I need to know if there's any specifics to this. Is this a fight or a rescue?", asked Logan.
In his mind, Yokuto tried to find the words to say. This foreigner had agreed to hear him out and before had displayed remarkable combat skills. He couldn't afford to lose him now.
"It's both actually. I'm not a fighter, but my quirk allows me to get out of danger. Though its means functioning so are actually pathetic. With someone of your condition, you could provide protection or offensive feats to buy me time to find her. To put it short, you do the fighting and I will do the reconicins", explained Yokuto.
"So, I'm just bait then", said Logan with his scowl forming.
Young Logan should have known. While this feathered haired coward goes to find his girlfriend, he'll be left behind as cover for the enemy to beat on. Who does this asshole think he is?
Right before Logan could tell him off, Yokuto did something that the Canadian didn't see coming. With his head lowered, the feather haired student pushed a stack of yen towards the foreigner.
"This is all that I have. I understand that you might disagree with the current plan, but it was all I could think of with how things are now. Please, accept this and help me protect Lulu", pleaded Yokuto as he fought back the lump in his throat.
He waited for an answer. Anything. At first, he thought that the foreigner would say no and leave him in his pathetic state. But then, it was his turn to be surprised. He saw the Canadian push the currency back and had a contemplating look on his face.
"Bub, you just have to be honest with me. I'm not like those assholes who take your money. If this girl really is in trouble, then I can't ignore a cry for help. If these guys need an ass kicking, then I'm game", said Logan with resolution in his voice.
Yokuto was thankful and relieved. There's still a chance. Lulu will be protected and one day will return to Somei with him. His new founded positive thinking would be halted by Logan giving him another question.
"There's something else I also want to know. Why me? Isn't there anybody else in this school that could've helped too?", asked Logan.
Yokuto explained that he wasn't a very social person. Lulu was the only person he had ever been close to or socialized with. But since she was moved to Kurai, he had no one to be with. The classmates that he had been with for the first year kept their distance and ignored him when he was around. Logan was now curious with what was wrong with the students here, but he was also hungry. As he ate, he thought it wouldn't matter to ask Yokuto about their fellow students. The feather haired teen didn't know them personally, so not much information to learn from.
Logan and Yokuto would discuss how they were going to operate this plan. The feather haired teen would search for Lulu's location and status, while Logan hunts the Kurai Hawks and does what he does best. A simple plan, maybe. But for them, it was not only a rescue mission. For Logan, this was to be a message for all bullies in the school districts that he will be coming for them.
… Back at Yuuei Academy …
'Oh for the love of God, can we get to the fighting already'
In the Class 1-A homeroom during the start of its final period, Victor Creed was bored out of his mind. Eddie Brock was looking out at the window as he struggled to stay awake. Erik Lesher was writing in his small journal filled with original recipes that he created since the Italy mission last year. Victor von Doom was relaxing his mind with silent meditation techniques.
The young Latverian was focusing his quirk through his brain to allow better rhythm within his nervous system. It helps keep him cool and collected during the annoying times of the day. Right now, he was calculating a series of equations to conclude an internal argument with himself. 'Could it be possible to gauge the amount of force behind the power of One for All if set on a measurement that scaled based on input?', thought Doom. He understood that Midoriya has started to get some of the basics down, but it's not really an achievement if the basics end up breaking your bones.
Young Doom could only wonder how All-Might was able to attune his body to such a power. The reports say that he got to where he is through physical training, but he doubts that. He was about to calculate further, until…
"I AM HERE"
'Speak of the devil', thought Doom as he and his three fellow reincarnates witness All-Might performing an outrageous entrance in their classroom.
"COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO", declared All-Might as he marches into the classroom.
Izuku Midoriya and the rest of class minus Bakugou were in awe and excitement to see the country's number one hero in person. Some let their admiration for him be heard.
"Wow, it's All-Might", cheered an ecstatic Kaminari.
"He really is a teacher. This year is going to be awesome", cheered Kirishima.
"That design's so Silver age", observed Tsuyu.
"It's giving me goosebumps", said said Ojiro.
As they let out their praise, the four reincarnates in the back of the room could only look in cringe and slight discomfort at the display of what this country considered as the true example of heroics. It really made them miss the heroes in their previous life.
'Who the hell is this fucking guy?', thought the four in unison.
"Foundational Hero Studies. For this class, we'll be building up your understanding of the basics of being a pro. To teach you what it means to fight for the sake of good. Let's jump right in with this", declared All-Might as he held up a card that said battle.
Bakugou was grinning as Izuku got nervous. The four foreigners also couldn't wait. A chance to let out their power in a fight. Hopefully, it won't be disappointing.
To their left, they could see panels opening up to reveal briefcases containing their peers' hero costumes. Fortunately for the boys, their gear was already waiting for them in the changing rooms. Everyone got their cases and were ordered to reunite at ground beta.
Izuku didn't have a briefcase due to the fact that he didn't register for a costume through the school. Instead, he held on to his backpack which held the costume his mother made for him. As he walked out with the rest of his class, he noticed Creed and his three other bodyguards exiting after everyone with nothing to carry. He slowly lagged behind so that no one would see him get to the four so quickly.
"Creed-kun, how come you four don't have your costumes?", asked Izuku.
"Don't worry about it, Green. Our stuff is at a separate place. We're not taking the same changing rooms as everyone else", answered Creed.
"Our own outfits are secured in a SHIELD com room within the school. Electronic lock with software identification. Though we appreciate your concern, do try to remain focused on the task at hand. This battle trial All-Might will have us do will not only test your current understanding with your quirk, but give us more combat based observation of the quirks of our so called 'peers'", said Doom.
Izuku noticed the Latverian's cold analytic tone and felt some unease at what he was thinking.
"Y-you don't seem thrilled about hero studies, Doom-san. Is there something you don't like with it?", asked Izuku nervously.
"He's simply being himself, Midoriya. Stick around and you'll be used to it", said Eddie with a bored voice.
"But he's not wrong. Go ahead, Midoriya. We'll catch up with the others", said Erik.
Izuku was unsure, but received a nod from Creed that they'll be right with him. The fanboy then decided to reunite with the rest of the class as the four reincarnates went to the com room.
… At Ground Beta …
The stage was set. All the students were finally wearing their hero costumes and were ready to show the number one hero and to themselves that they are worthy of being in Yuuei. As All-Might marveled and praised the students for their apparel, Izuku had finally caught up to the class and wore his costume proudly. His proud attitude then fell into flustered demeanor when he saw Ochako in her costume.
"Hey Deku", Ochako happily called out.
"O-ochako", responded Izuku, glad that he was wearing a mask to hide his flushing face.
"I really like how simple it is, less flashy. I really should have been specific with my costume. This body suit is skin-tight", said Ochako embarrassed.
Izuku was flustered at first and then became more flustered when heard Mineta's remark on Yuuei. He struggled to find the words to say back to Ochako, but was stopped when a familiar voice with footsteps behind him.
"Don't be slouching, Green Bean. Can't have you make that costume look bad, right?", said Creed as he and the squad arrived in their own heroic garbs.
Izuku and Ochako looked at where the voice was and were surprised by the esthetic choices of their foreign classmates. Some of the other students looked as well and noticed immediately what their foreign classmates were trying to convey.
"I wanted to go in with some simplicity. A dash of my personality to go with it", said Creed grinning as he flexed his right arm to show his muscles. The claws in his fingertips popped to prove his point.
Victor Creed was dressed in a way that represented his wild side. He wore a dark brown trench coat with a fur collar made specifically out of mountain lions. His arms and hands were exposed with their only coverings being bright orange platings strapped to the muscles, forearms, back of the hands. The gloves underneath were kept fingerless to allow Creed full use of his claws. His boots were dark brown to match his coat, with straps and buckles keeping them in place. The tip of the boots have three metallic claws, each being an inch long. His torso and the rest of his lower body wore an all black outfit, separated by only an orange belt with a metallic buckle in the shape of an X. He didn't want anything covering his head. He wanted the bastards to know who was kicking their ass.
"This is a class, Creed. Not a runway. Stay focused for everyone's sake", interjected Erik who Izuku and Ochako realized was the one wearing the metallic helmet.
Erik Lesher wore a costume that was too close to home. Though the class didn't know it, this costume was all that was needed to anyone that this was Magneto. Whether it was a penance or nostalgia, he would rather be in his death clothes than to forget what he fought for. To the class, it was as if this kid from Germany wanted to appear as the grim reaper. But to him, he wore this when found his resolution. When he fought in memory of the Charles Xavier that died on his Earth. When he killed that evil worshipping scum, Red Skull. when he saved Wanda and Pietro from the Hand. And when he died doing so. This all black costume with white linings is what all the evils of this Earth will see when they are given no mercy.
What got the class the most was the helmet the German was wearing. It was just too intimidating, the way it covered the face in complete darkness with only things peering through it was two white pupil-less eyes.
"Lighten up, Erik. We might as well have a bit of fun", said Eddie who Izuku can now tell was the one wearing a full body suit.
Eddie Brock's costume followed with a similar color scheme of black and white. However, what he wore covered his entire body. From head to toe, he was wearing some kind of inky black rubber that did well to show off his masculinity. Each muscle could be seen in detail as imprinted in the black material. Little did the class, it wasn't rubber. The American didn't bring nor received anything. He manipulated the symbiote biomass into a full body form mimicking the black suit that was worn by his Earth's Spider-Man. It was safer this way, can't show the scary teeth just yet.
"For you lot, maybe. But Carter had given me restrictions to bring my finalized masterpiece to this farce of a hero course", said Doom who was upset that he wasn't allowed to bring his armor for field testing on Yuuei grounds without the notifying approval of the Director.
Finally, Victor von Doom was surprisingly… normal-ish. Another all black outfit with a dark green cloak and a pair of metallic Gauntlets. The outfit was of a smooth fabric with fiber lining supporting its durability. The boots were made of the same material, causing some to believe that they were stealth boots. Zippers and straps kept the outfit snuggled to the Latverian's body. The cloak was big enough to cover Doom's body and the Gauntlets appeared to be basic armament. If only they knew, never underestimate Victor von Doom.
Together, the four foreigners were dressed in a way that didn't convey that they were there to give hope. No, they wanted to give fear to the enemy. Izuku Midoriya thought about that and questioned what enemy were his bodyguards trying to intimidate. He thought they looked great, but a part of him came to some assumptions that their costumes looked a bit too… villainous.
Some of the students had their own opinions of the foreigners. Tenya Iida felt indifferent and took it in stride, because he believed that the reason for their dark tone was that it was simply a SHIELD custom. Others like Kaminari, Mina, and Mineta thought that the foreigners were trying too hard to fit in the bad cop role. A few such as Kirishima, Sato, and Tsuyu were actually impressed by their costumes. Then, there was Bakugou. The explosive blonde didn't care about the foreigner, nor did he want to acknowledge their existence. He just wants to prove how better his quirk is compared to everyone else's.
Knowing Creed and his team for a while now, he knows that the opinion of others doesn't concern them. He just wishes that they could open up more to the rest of the class eventually.
"Wow, you four look really awesome. You started a trend or something?", asked Ochako as she got a good look at each of the reincarnates.
"By Awesome, you mean incredibly handsome and badass. Then yeah, I say me and the boys are hitting our marks", said Creed, feeding his ego. His squad mates rolled their eyes at that.
The group was then brought out of their discussion when All-Might with energy his voice began today's lesson. Stopped before hand when he was locked in a cycle of cringe and silent laughing at the sight of Izuku's costume due to its obvious inspiration.
"Now that you're ready, it's time for combat training", announced All-Might.
"Sir, this is the fake city from our entrance exam. Are we to be performing urban battles again?", asked Iida.
"Not quite. I'll be moving you two steps ahead. Most of the villain fights you see on the news take place outside. However, statistically speaking, the most nefarious villains operate indoors. Think about it, backroom deals, home invasions, and secret underground layers. Truly intelligent villains stay hidden in the shadows" explained All-Might.
"Well he's not wrong", whispered Erik to Doom who nodded in agreement.
"For this exercise, you'll be split into two teams. Good guys and bad guys. Fighting in two on two indoor battles", further explained All-Might.
"Isn't this a little advanced?", asked Tsuyu.
"This best training is what you get on the battlefield. Remember, you're not fighting a robot this time. You're fighting actual people now", answered All-Might.
After that statement, a barrage of questions from various hit All-Might much to his dismay. Opening a small script, which the reincarnated ex-villains found absolutely pathetic, All-Might layout the rules of the exercise to allow everyone know what to expect in their matches. After the explanation, the number one hero then pulled out a yellow box.
"Time is limited, so we'll choose teams by drawing lots", said All-Might.
"Isn't there a better way?", asked Iida incredulously.
Izuku was about to explain to Iida, but his Canadian friend wrapped an arm around both of them and spoke bluntly.
"Don't get picky four eyes, gotta work with what you got. So let's do this number one. I want to punch someone", said Creed with a viscous grin on his face.
'Though blunt you are, young Creed, there's truth to your words. From the look of your eyes and as well in the eyes of your three SHIELD comrades, you wish to not only see some improvement in Young Midoriya but also if any of the students here has some potential as well. SHIELD has really made you boys mature far quicker than any school out there", thought All-Might.
"Very well then, let's draw!". Upon All-Might's call, the slots were made and the matches were set. The four didn't really care for the other matches. If the other students have some potential, then they'll have to see it some other time. For now, their concerns lie with their own battles, especially the one their objective is stuck in.
Much to the reincarnates's annoyance and to the dismay of a certain green haired fanboy, Izuku Midoriya was paired with Ochako Uraraka to fight against the team of Katsuki Bakugou and Tenya Iida. It's safe to say that the fanboy was nervous beyond all hell. However, for a moment, he swallowed his anxiety and stared back at his childhood tormentor. Surprising the explosive blonde in the process.
His bodyguards however had different views on their matches.
For Eddie Brock, he was given the role of a villain. He was ready to fight the emo jackass from the elevator, Shoto Todoroki, the six-armed guy from the entrance exam, Mezo Shoji. Unfortunately, he was partnered up with the invisible girl. Toro, was it? The American prays that she won't be a liability.
For Victor von Doom, he was disappointed. All this potential power and he would have to use it against a walking stun gun and a girl with the oddest earlobes he's ever seen. Hopefully, his partner would surprise him. This Momo Yaoyorozu most definitely has a quirk that piques the young Latverian's interest.
For Victor Creed and Erik Lesher, they couldn't be anymore ready for their match. Whether fate or coincidence, the Canadian and German will battle each other this day to settle any scores that still existed between them. They can only hope that their partners don't get in the way. Erik would be paired with the bubbly pink acid girl, Mina Ashido, while Creed got the teen with the rocky head.
… At the Monitoring Room …
"Green has to get a win here. No way is firecracker going to get his way", Creed said, confidence for his neighbor to pull through in his battle.
"Izuku is the equivalent of a gun with only one bullet. Once he's done, there's nothing else he could except surrender. And I doubt that Bakugou will give him a chance to", Erik judged, knowing that this fight could barely even be considered fifty-fifty.
"Time, location, quantity of awareness, and quirk power. Every aspect in this battle is completely against Izuku's team. This isn't his to be won, Creed", Doom foretold, knowing when a situation is a lost cause.
"The advantage he has is that Bakugou is a hot headed prick with no cooperation with his teammate", said Eddie who used his emotional sonar quirk to get a gauge at how much of a nervous wreck their precious cargo was.
The four watched the battle, not with interest, but with a dutiful sense of concern. Their objective, the one that they had spent the last year monitoring. The one that was given a god tier quirk, but lacked control over it. Was now in a fight for his life. Thanks for the hard as hell mission, Carter.
"Now everyone, watch and form your own strategies for when it's your time to battle", said All-Might. Though he appeared collected to the students, the number one hero was internally conflicted on being both Midoriya's mentor and the class's teacher. He found resolution in the fact that this fight might help his successor evolve more as a hero. After all, favoritism wasn't allowed.
The monitor room the class was in is located in the basement of the same building the battle was being commenced in. All-Might stood in front of everyone, being the only one with both visual and hearing of the battle. The rest of class were stuck watching through the soundless monitors. The formation they took was separate at best. The Japanese born students crowded together behind their teacher. The reincarnates, however, stayed out of the crowd and grouped themselves on the left side of the room.
This didn't go unnoticed by All-Might or some of the students. Much like Midoriya, Toshinori wished that the SHIELD youths would open up a little and be closer to their peers. Sure, the two groups are geographically different, but surely they could come together in the future.
The students didn't share the sentiment. They were fine with the SHIELD guys keeping their distance from them. At first during the first day, they thought having a couple of foreign guys was going to be odd, but also interesting. That was until the fact that they were from SHIELD had been revealed to them. To some, they had nothing against the organization. But others heard of rumors of their shadier businesses. As a whole, the Japanese students had mixed feelings with this cooperation with these overseas teens who were promoted to be in a league of their own.
Four of the students specifically eyed the foreigners. These were the ones who paired up with them.
Koji Koda was going through anxiety at the sight of his partner. The Canadian that stood taller than him was so scary. Maybe scarier than the Bakugou guy. The claws, the sharp canines, and that scowl. It was like he got paired with a savage animal, ironic considering his quirk.
Next was his opponent, Mina Ashido. The girl had taken a glance at the foreigners on the first day. The Canadian guy was fit, but way too rugged and angry. The American didn't look too bad and that body was definitely something else. The Europeans were the ones that more than enough made her criteria of hot foreign boys. The Latverian gave her the feeling that he called the shots of the group. The German one has yet to make an impression on her. Maybe in their battle, he'll do something that could impress her more than that ball throw from yesterday.
Next to her was Toru Hagakure. The invisible teen didn't have a lot to say about the SHIELD youths, except for how unfairly high they raised the bar. Like what the hell? How was she going to compete? From what she witnessed yesterday, she was nowhere near their level of power. The fact that she herself was there to see Victor von Doom fighting the zero pointer by himself was proof enough. Hopefully, she wouldn't look so inadequate with the tall American boy. Speaking of whom, she was rather intimidated by him. size, muscles, and a scary looking decal. What is it with foreigners liking the scary look?
Finally, there was Momo Yaoyorozu. To be a student in Yuuei, she needed to prepare for everything the world of heroics had to throw at her. But even then, unknown variables can get the drop on the most observant of people. She considered this line of thinking when glancing at Doom. From what she observed and heard, the SHIELD youth department trains recruits under adult age to evaluate potential operatives. Her partner's face was covered by the cloak, but from what she had seen from him he definitely played the role of a leader. To some extent, she wonders if he would be cooperative with her.
They were brought out of their thoughts when the four foreigners they assigned to simultaneously turned their heads to face them. Momo, Mina, Toru, and Koji flinched at the eye contact. Koji immediately turned away and shivered from Creed's sneer. Toru stiffens as Eddie's organic lenses narrow at her. Letting her imagination take over, she covered her invisible breast with her gloved hands. She thought the American might be able to see her and she reddened at the thought of it. Mina herself looked away from Erick. His pupiless eyes peering through his shadowed face was a bit much for her. Momo didn't look away, but the coldness from Doom's eyes made her shiver.
Their contact was broken by a bright light from the monitor. They showed Bakugou ambushing Izuku and Ochako. The two made it out of the range of the explosion that came next. Although, it seems Izuku lost half of his mask. Something that irked Creed and Doom internally.
Bakugou was going in for another attack, Izuku caught the arm and threw him over his shoulder. The explosive blonde impacted the floor and the students were astonished by how the fanboy utilized reflexes without using his quirk.
The four reincarnates observed closely at Izuku. His body movements. His facial expression. Even his breathing and lips moving. Each detail told something about the fanboy. To them, this wasn't just an evaluation of his quirk control, but also his character. There was tactical retreating and then there's running away like a bitch. They hope their objective wasn't doing the latter.
Their prayers were answered when they saw Izuku standing up and shifting to a fighting stance. His face told that of a proclamation and a promise. Bakugou stood back up and his face told that he roared with anger.
"What's he saying? There's no sound from the surveillance footage", complained Kirishima.
"Teammates can communicate through wireless transceivers. They also have a rough sketch of the building, and then there's this. Capture tape", explained All-Might as he held up a roll of capture tape.
"The second someone gets wrapped in this, that's an advantage for the other side", All-Might continued.
"But sir, the heroes only have fifteen minutes to find the bomb and they have no idea where it is. I say the heroes have a lot of disadvantages already", Mina pointed out.
"For every hero, this unfairness comes with the job. Such a fact is engraved by our motto, say it with me now", said All-Might getting the class hype.
"PLUS ULTRA", cheered everyone except the four reincarnates. The four cringed at the thought of saying such a Motto.
"Monsieur, Bakugou is on the move", said Aoyama.
Everyone looked back towards the screens and witnessed Bakugou hounding in on Izuku and Ochako making a run for it. Most likely she was heading to where Iida was located. Minutes later, Izuku performed impressive hand to hand maneuvering with the capture tap. All while dodging the explosions his way.
The next few minutes were merely Bakugou and Izuku having a game of cat and mouse. Ochako had finally found Iida and the two ended up having a standoff. Doom, being the one in charge of diagnosing Izuku's condition, observed intensely. He could tell Bakugou is trying to force the fanboy to use his quirk. 'Such a toxic bravado on this one', thought the Latverian.
The analysis halted when the two said topics met face to face once again. The Bakugou boy had a psychotic grin on his face and readied his mounted bracer. Suddenly…
"Bakugou, my boy, stop this! You'll kill him", cried out All-Might.
But it was in vain. Bakugou removed the pin and half of the screens were of a fiery white. A loud boom and a rumble shook the building. It caused a slight frantic reaction among the students. The four foreigners with them showed no panic. Instead of caution and concern, anger and annoyance filled their core. The blast subsidies and they could see their objective on the ground. Scared and next to a massive cindering hole in the wall. They could care less for what was happening on Ochako's side of the battle. This explosive son of bitch nearly killed the sole reason they were stuck in this country. They didn't spend a year in Japan just to see their goal get killed by some bully with a superiority complex.
"Sensei, please put a stop to this! That Bakugou has gone mental. At this rate, he'll kill him", pleaded Kirishima.
All-Might remained silent. He knew from what he heard that Bakugou wouldn't go that far, but young Midoriya was going through too much. This fight was important for his development, but just in case…
"Bakugou, if you shoot another blast like that again, I'll end this exercise and disqualify your team. Such an attack while being indoors defeats the purpose of protecting your stronghold. Whether hero or villain, that was foolish. Once more and you'll receive massive demerits", scolded All-Might.
The screens then showed Bakugou roaring out and charging at Izuku yet again. The explosive blonde used a maneuvering technique specifically for him and blasted Midoriya's back. As everyone was stunned by such skill, Shoto Todoroki broke his silence to give his two cents on the explosive teen.
"He deliberately misled his opponent and used his explosions to redirect his midair trajectory to his advantage. Although he doesn't look it, Bakugou has some caliber to his skills", commented Shoto.
This was then followed by Momo's own commentary.
"Landing a telling blow while resisting inertia at the same time means he must be able to adjust explosion power very finely", said Momo.
"Ugh, Bakugou is uber talented. I hate it", whined Kaminari.
Back to the fight, Bakugou reached for Midoriya to give the same treatment as before. As Izuku slammed onto the floor, the green haired fanboy knew the only way to win this was to use All for One to give Ochako cover from Iida. He just has to get through his former childhood friend.
"This is straight up bullying. Can't he just capture him already?", protested Toru.
"This isn't the behavior of a hero in the making", chastised Tokoyami.
"I thought Midoriya was amazing, but there's no denying that when it comes to battle Bakugou's a beast", said Kaminari.
Upon hearing that, Creed wanted to punch the walking electric socket in his fucking teeth. But he knew he couldn't. As much as he wanted to label Bakugou as a show off, there truly was no denying the skill and power his fellow blonde had. He prayed to any god, hell even the Asgardians if they were listening, for Izuku to pull something out of his ass and win this.
The screens then showed Izuku scrambling away from Bakugou and heading to a wall.
Creed's fists then clinched.
"He's running away", said Mina.
"Not very manly, but he has no choice. But something's a bit off", said Kirishima.
Creed's fists tightened so hard that his claws dug into the flesh of his hands. He won't accept this cowardice.
'Come on Green, do something', Creed demanded internally.
The screens showed Bakugou getting closer as Izuku's face shifted from shaking fear to tearful determination. The two had enough and rushed at each other with their charged attacks. It was getting too intense that some of the students wanted it to stop. All-Might thought hard about it and gave in.
"BOTH OF YOU, ST-", he was cut off when he heard Izuku called out to Ochako.
What came next could best be described as a rush of power as Izuku's upward punch in the air sent an eruption of wind pressure through the whole building. This shocked Iida to the point where his concentration was focused mainly on standing, but he failed to stop the incoming attack from Ochako. As he was distracted by the barrage of rocks, Ochako successfully landed on the bomb. Securing the win for the hero team. The screens then showed Bakugou shaking and his face frozen in shock as poor Izuku fell to the floor unconscious.
"HERO TEAM, WIIIIIIIIIIIIINS", All-Might announced.
Victor Creed then crouched down with his hands combing his hair. He let out a sigh as he felt at ease and relaxed, knowing that his friend had scored his first win. What's better was that this was Bakugou's first defeat. Something that put a smile on the Canadian's face.
"Green bean did it. He won", Creed said with relief.
"He certainly did. If he continues to impress me like this, progress will arrive sooner than expected", Doom said with a sight smirk. He then turns to Eddie Brock.
"It'll be your turn now. Do try to not disappoint, Eddie", said Doom with a hint of expectation.
"Sure thing. I'm looking forward to my match", said Eddie with confidence as his lenses narrowed at Shoto Todoroki. The ice covered teen glancing back at the American with his one visible eye showing his silent preparedness.
As everyone relaxed from such an intense battle, All-Might left the room to retrieve Iida, Ochako, and Bakugou. The latter remaining still and silent for the rest of the class. Midoriya couldn't rejoin, because he was escorted away by medical bay robots to be sent to Recovery Girl.
The four foreigners of Class 1-A stayed behind everyone with their backs to the wall. They didn't feel like being a part of a boring discussion of heroic performances. This whole concept of heroic studies was so alien to them. Yes, the Charles Xavier Institute of Higher Learning functioned in a similar way. But what was in front of them was just so commercialized and lacked true reality. Internally, the four felt it was their duty to show these Japanese teens what their realities had taught them.
After a long explanation from the girl Doom was paired with(Yomama, was it?), the four could sum up what she said in one sentence. "Iida gets an A and everyone else sucks". But now it's their time and Eddie Brock was first to go.
"With that said and done, let's get on to the second battle exercise. For the hero team, Shoto Todoroki and Mezo Shoji. And for the villain team, Eddie Brock and Toru Hagakure", announced All-Might.
Hearing that, the curiosity within the Japanese youths, minus Bakugou, increased as they looked at the only American of their class.
Eddie Brock looked forward and got off the wall he was leaning on. He then looked to his so called partner and with his quirk he didn't need to see to know that she was nervous around him. As he walked over to her, the pair of boots and floating gloves shivered in their place.
"Don't mess them up too bad", said Creed in audible English.
"Who? Me? Come on, I'm as gentle as a cub", Eddie responded as he stood next to the invisible. The size difference between them is becoming very obvious. The American then looked to All-Might who held their map and transceivers.
"So first we'll be setting up? Right?", he asked.
"Indeed, follow me lads", All-Might said as he escorted the four topside.
With the four exiting the room, the three other reincarnates moved to the front of the class and stood next to All-Might's podium. Doom with his arms crossed stood in the center. Creed to his left and Erik to his right. This formation surprised the class. They didn't think they would be this close now. Some didn't want to mention it, but Kaminari thought himself confident enough to approach.
"You guys seem suddenly eager to get a good view. I Figured you guys didn't want to get all touchy", Kaminari said more over to Doom's direction.
The Latverian noticed this and took charge of the discussion.
"A member of our squad is about to demonstrate himself. As squad leader, I find my responsibility to evaluate him. I would take note of that if I were you, Mister Kaminari. Especially Since you and I will be battling each other", Said Doom as he side glanced at Denki with an expecting look.
The electric teen was internally stunned and got intimidated quickly. A part of him had become anxious about the possibility that his match will have its own Bakugou. Seriously, what did the Latverian have on him?
… Outside at the Ground Beta …
"You'll have ten minutes to prepare. Remember, the premise of this exercise is to instill the real-life feeling of these kinds of situations. Act like you truly are a villain", encouraged All-Might.
"Yes sir", the two said as they entered the building.
With ten minutes to set up their defense, Toru's mind raced on what might happen in their battle. Would her opponents be as crazy as Bakugou? Could the place be reckoned by the battle? Could the American pull some awesome and scary power to win the battle? No, she needs to pull herself together. This is a class and she needs to prove her worth. Sure, her partner and opponents are taller, intimidating, and are probably packing heat. But she could do just as-
"HEY"
Toru flinched as she was brought out of her thoughts by Eddie who had been trying to get her attention for the past minute.
"We're at the bomb. Come on, we got six minutes", said Eddie as he entered the objective room.
"Oh, R-right. Coming", responded Toru as she momentarily flustered in embarrassment.
The room they were tasked to defend was similar to the one Iida and Bakugou had. Toru then noticed the American getting closer to the fake bomb. He grabbed its cylindrical shape and threw it up in the air. As it nearly touched the ceiling, massive spider-like webs shot out from the white patches on the back of his hands and clong the objective to the ceiling.
Internally, Toru wondered what the quirks of the four SHIELD youths could do. Remembering what she saw back in the quirk apprehension test, they were diverse in the quirk types. The Canadian obviously is a mutant type, this American is a transformation type, and the Latverian and German are emitter types. This Eddie Brock had a spider symbol on his suit, so maybe his quirk is spider related.
"Hey, Eddie-san, why did you do that?", asked Toru as her teammate turned to her.
"I was with that Shoji guy in the entrance exam. I know how his quirk works. I first saw him on the top of the building, so he has to have some range functions with those limbs to have gotten there. That emo jackass he's stuck with is an unknown factor, so I'm going to have to go after Shoji first. If Shoto's quirk is just an ice quirk, then I should be fine", answered Eddie as went for the door.
Toru remained there confused by the answer that didn't really answer her question. She then realized what Eddie had been implying.
"Hold on, you mean you're going to pull a Bakugou and leave me here. Aren't we supposed to be a team?", said Toru mildly frustrated.
"I work better alone. Plus, I want a shot at that peppermint fuck. Beat the emo out of him. Just stay here and guard the bomb. If one of them gets lucky enough to get past me, just call me and do something to slow them down", said Eddie as opened the door.
"Seriously? I could help too. You could need me for a stealthy ambush with my invisibility", whined Toru.
Eddie stopped and slowly turned back.
"No. I won't", he said as slowly shifted his symbiote suit to become invisible.
As Eddie closed the door behind him, he left a stunned Toru behind. The poor girl couldn't believe what she saw. She thought the spider web that came out of the American's hands was his quirk. But right there were had stood he had turned somewhat invisible. He may have appeared as a blurry transparent figure, but it was still invisible. Getting out of her shock, she slumped to her knees and an exaggerated whine.
"How am I going to compete with that? I really wish I paired up with Ojiro", complained Toru.
… Back in The Monitor Room …
"Woah, he can be invisible too", said Kirishima, astonished.
"I thought doing spider stuff was his quirk. When do spiders go invisible?", asked a confused Mina.
"Does he have two quirks or something?", asked Kaminari to no one in particular.
Doom, Erik, and Creed mentally chuckled at their reactions. They were in for a surprise as the potential of their New York comrade will soon be shown to them.
Next to them, All-Might started the match timer and spoke through the mic to begin the exercise. He too was curious to what the young American was capable of. Through this demonstration, the students and himself could see just what the products of SHIELD training could provide.
The monitor with Toru showed her removing her gloves and boots. Cartoonish puffs of smoke could figuratively be seen coming from where her head should be. Only some could tell that it meant that she was most definitely upset at the fact that her partner pulled a Bakugou.
Another monitor showed Shoji shifting his limb to become ears. Shoto Todoroki stood behind him with ice particles flowing from his right hand.
Only the three foreigners of the class were watching the other separate screens. Having been with him for so long, they could tell which one had the invisible blur that is Eddie Brock. From what they could easily tell of this match up, Mezo Shoji will fall first and the Todoroki boy will be the true battle.
… Back in the Interior of the Building …
"There's movement in the fourth floor. They are alone and barefoot. It's just the invisible girl. For some reason, I can't hear any movements from Eddie-san. It's like he's not even in the building", informed Shoji. His ears movement in motions to find the New Yorker anywhere.
"They're making the same mistake as the previous team. Either way, it won't matter", said Shoto as he walked ahead of Shoji.
"This will get hairy, so go outside", Shoto then touched the wall to his right as Shoji exited the Building.
Watching from the darker end of the hall, Eddie saw the walls and floors quickly engulfed in ice. Moving quickly to avoid the freezing, he web swung his way to the third floor. Knowing that the ice was about to reach him either way, so he shifted his right arm into several black tendrils and shot them upward. The inky black vines tore through a ventilation cover and wriggled fast to the room Toru was in.
In the bomb room, Toru felt an intense chill in the air. She shivered extremely as ice enveloped the door. Before her feet could get frozen, the vent above broke open a series of black tendrils wrapped around the invisible girl and lifted her up. Ice covered the whole room and she was bewildered at what was holding her. It then brought her closer to the bomb that was now stuck to the ceiling by frozen webs that surprisingly still held strong.
"Hold on to the bomb", a voice spoke from nowhere.
Toru jolted at how close it was to her. She then realizes that it was her partner's voice coming from the tentacles.
"I-is Th-that Y-you, E-eddie-san", she spoke, still shivering from the cold.
"Being naked for a hero costume suddenly wasn't a good idea, huh. Just latch on to the bomb, even in ice, my webs will still hold", remarked Eddie.
"O-okay", Toru clung to the bomb. The cold metal touching her invisible naked body was uncomfortable, but it was better than the ice below. She watched the tendrils slither back into the vents. Seriously, just what kind of quirk does this Eddie Brock guy have? Webs. Strength. Camouflage. Some freaky tentacles. Remembering the entrance exam, she had watched Victor von Doom fighting a zero pointer by himself. There were two other guys among them also.
Sighing in defeat, Toru rested on the cold bomb. She figured Eddie-san could win this for them. If he hadn't got her up in time, she would have had her feet trapped in ice. She continued to internally think of how things could be going below her, but her thoughts were cut off by what she heard next.
"MEZO SHOJI, CAPTURED", announced All-Might through the speakers.
… The Monitor Room …
All-Might and the rest of the class shivered from the surrounding cold. The three reincarnates among them however held strong against the freezing temperatures. Creed had lived in Canada for two lifetimes, so this was nothing to him. Erik having retained his memories of fighting the X-Man, Bobby Drake, had maintained a tolerance to such cold. Doom didn't allow the damnable cold to get to him. After all, the burning, hate-filled fire within him was all he needed to keep warm.
Prior to the Announcement, the class were getting more astonished at the sight of another power on display. The American was already showing the true potential of his power, but the overall functionality of it was what they were trying to understand. They had watched on the screens when Eddie allowed himself to get frozen and turned his arm into tendrils. Another screen showed that the same Tendrils saved Toru from the ice.
After that, the black suited teen effortlessly broke out of the ice and rushed through the halls. The other screens showed a black blur zooming past as one showed Todoroki traversing the halls in a steady pace.
What caused the announcement was when Eddie Brock made a full stop and clung to the ceiling. He then crawled closer to what they believed to be the entrance that the hero team were supposed to take. Upon cycling through the surveillance cameras, the American was nowhere in sight. A screen at the bottom left showed Shoji peering closer into the dark hall as his extra ears were trying to pick up anything nearby. He took a step closer and narrowed his eyes, as if he was trying to see something clearly.
Suddenly, a thick strand of webbing struck Shoji's face and reeled him in violently. A blurry figure held Shoji by two of his arms and flipped upward to the air. Next, a flurry of white thick webs wrapped the six-armed teen into an unbreakable cocoon. Only Shoji's head was free from the webs as he witnessed the blurry figure slowly appear as Eddie Brock in his black suit.
"Sorry Mezo. Better luck next fight", Eddie said as reverted back to an invisible blur. Shoji could only sigh in defeat with head lowered. Unfortunately, salt was added to the wound.
"MEZO SHOJI, CAPTURED", announced All-Might.
… Elsewhere within the building …
'Damn, so my partner got caught. Probably the American, I doubt the invisible girl had a hand in it', thought Shoto as he quickened his pace to the bomb. His steps cracked the ice beneath him and the sound echoed in the hall. Although he had a tolerance to his cold, he felt a chill that tinged at his core. He stood in place and had his right side ready. He was being watched, but where?
Shoto looked to both ends of the halls and took steps forward. Either he beats the SHIELD foreigner or he reaches the bomb, he will win this battle. What irked him was that he hasn't been attacked yet. He knows the American is near, but where was he?
Shoto then remembered what the costume his opponent wore looked like. An all black suit with a white spider symbol. That's when it hit him. The spider symbol. His eyes widened and he quickly shot ice upward to jab the ceiling. At the last second, he caught an invisible blur dashed forwards and shot web strands at him. He quickly formed an ice to stop the attempt. To his surprise, an inky black boot kicked through the ice. The black suited foreigner then burst through the ice like a bulldozer through debris.
"Ice isn't going to stop. If you got anything else to throw, then use it", mocked Eddie as steps through the hole with ice chunks falling off his person.
Shoto ignored what his opponent had said and released another torrent of ice straight at the American. Eddie Brock dodged to the right and continued to run at the duo-color haired teen. He ran up the right wall, across the ceiling, and descended the left wall. All while the torrent followed him. Once close enough, he jumped it and reeled in for a punch.
Shoto had underestimated his opponent's ability and ferocity, but he planned to win this to prove the gap in their power. He then released a massive blunt ice spike at the foreigner. His eyes widened by what came next.
Seeing the ice spike coming at him, Eddie Brock turned his reeled fist into a downward punch. Releasing his attack, the ice spike was disseminated by an impact that carried several black tendrils with it. The tendrils whipped violently at the surrounding ice, breaking it and drawing Eddie ever closer to Shoto. Said ice-using teen refused this outcome and slid away from the American with the use of a sideways barrier of ice propelling him.
Shoto looked back and sighed in satisfaction to see the American's right arm caught in the ice wall. Looking at his own right arm, he figured he could use the time to warm up his right side. Activating his left side little by little, he heated the areas that were trembling from near frostbite. His opponent is strong and fast. Never has he faced someone so unaffected by his ice quirk. It was during this fight, the young todoroki realizes that the American's costume wasn't just a costume. The transformation capabilities of that black goo were just too immense. To win this, he'll just have to completely freeze his opponent whole and hope it doesn't cause suffocation.
CRACK. BMOOOOSH.
Keeping his face strained and dred filling his confidence, Shoto was shocked to see the American run towards him with his right arm still being in the ice wall. The action caused a trail of broken ice chunks as the arm trailed through the wall. Unknown to Shoto, everyone in the monitor room could see through the screen on how Eddie had achieved this. While keeping his right shoulder and fist solid, Eddie Brock had turned the rest of his arm into a series of rotating bladed black tendrils that ate away at the ice.
"WE AREN'T DONE, YOU EMO", war cried Eddie as his white lenses glared intensely at the young todoroki in front.
Whispering a curse, Shoto summoned another ice wall just as Eddie extended his fingers into sharp projectiles. The sharp blades pierced the ice and shredded their way to the middle. The ice wall shattered and emerged a towering Eddie above Shoto. The young Todoroki tried to release more ice, but his arm trembled intensely at the frostbite. The American took a step closer and then leaped toward the ice user. It was at that moment, desperation peaked at Todoroki and he subconsciously let fire flare up from his left arm. Both the eyes of the young American and the young Todoroki widened in alertness.
Eddie Brock quickly leaped away from the flickering flames and clung to the ceiling. Shoto Todoroki frantically patted away his flames. He kept at it until he knew each part of his skin wasn't glowing with fire. Just as he calmed his breathing, he then felt a hard fist plant him loudly on the floor. No longer calm, he coughed violently as all the air left his lungs from the punch. He tried to get up, but then strangs of web locked him in place and he couldn't move. He tried to summon ice again, but more web covered his right arm. He then saw the American got off the ceiling and stood over him. The white lenses glaring at the young Todoroki who was in between his legs. Both remained staring at each other, until All-Might announced…
"VILLAIN TEAM WIIIIIIIIINS"
Shoto Todoroki sighed in annoyance and anger. He lost. In his first fight like Bakugo even. What tinged at him was the fact that he nearly used fire. His father's fire. He clenched his left fist in frustration. He swore he'd never use it and yet this American of the SHIELD organization pushed him this far. Just… damn it.
"Nice to know that being a half-ass runs in your family", said a voice that stood above the web restrained Shoto. The young Todoroki glanced up to see Eddie Brock crouching down next to him. His white lenses narrowed at the white and red haired teen.
"You had fire to fight me with. Why didn't you use it? It could have given you the edge in the fight", asked Eddie who got more agitated at the sight of Shoto scowling at him.
"What goes on with me doesn't concern you. You won and I need to improve. Let's leave it at that", said an equally agitated Todorki. Eddie Brock sighed tiredly as a response.
"Whatever jackass. Just hurry up and heat everything before both of our partners end up with a cold", said Eddie as ripped the webs off Shoto.
"Right", responded Shoto through gritted teeth. Placing his hand on one of the walls, he used his left side to melt the ice off the whole building. Steam from the melt ice enveloped all of the rooms.
"Christ, you really turned this place into a steam house", whined Eddie as morphed his hand into a fan to cool off.
"Let's get our teammates and regroup with the other", said Shoto distantly as he walked away with his hands covering the area where he was punched.
"You okay?", asked a smirking Eddie.
"I'll be fine", said Shoto coldly. The smirk on Eddie's face never left as he saw Shoto limped a little. Going back to where he left Toru, Eddie sees her exacerbated for breath on top of the bomb. The young Klyntar hybrid chuckled at the sight of her. Little did everyone know, due to his quirk Emotional Sonar Eddie could actually see an outline of Toru's body. If the sound of her tired breath weren't an indicator to how much heat she was taking, then the outlines of her invisible chest constantly ascending and descending were.
"You alright? I really left you waiting, while having to deal with Todoroki", said Eddie as he picked up from the bomb. As she struggled to keep steady on the wet floor, she clapped her hands and gave a tired giggle.
"Thanks for the victory, Eddie-san", said a chipper Toru.
"Anything for an A plus, right? Let's go, I'm getting tired of this steam", said Eddie as he and Toru left the building to reunite with the rest of the class. When they got there, the class was buzzing with questions about the American. Did he have multiple quirks? How did he always know where the hero team was everytime? Was the costume he was wearing really the quirk itself? The young American looked to his SHIELD comrades for help, but they instead shrugged in response without a care. From the other far side of the room, Bakugo merely had his eyes down as he shook to the core at what he saw from the second match. A powerful elemental quirk and an even more powerful shapeshifting quirk. There was already a more powerful student in his class in the form of the young Todoroki, but now he knows that the four foreigners from SHIELD were packing heat. Anxiety filled him even more at the thought of what the other three could do. He lost to that shitty Deku, but he realized he could also lose to more people in the world. Why? Why was this happening to him now? Damn these SHIELD bastards.
"Alright, Alright, my young students. I'm sure your questions can be answered by young Brock after class. Right now, it's time to get ready for our third match. For the villain team, Sero Hanta and Eijiro Kirishima. And for the hero team, Tsuyu Asui and Tokoyami Fumikage.", declared All-Might. As the next two teams got ready, the four reincarnates regrouped to lean on their favorite wall and succumb to their own personal thoughts. Doom internally thought of several optional designs to add on to the finalized armor. He cared little for his match, knowing full well that he will win. Eddie Brock merely relaxed feeling satisfied that he won against Shoto. His thoughts now were on what to have for dinner. Victor Creed had his thoughts back on Midoriya's conditions. It was high time he discussed with the others about letting Eddie use his symbiote healing on Green Bean. Erik Lesher had his thoughts on the fact that Yelena's team will be arriving in Japan tomorrow. He wondered how the young Charles Xavier will take in these Asian lands.
Though they had the rest of the day ahead of them, somewhere else in the world will soon be met with thunder.
… Meanwhile in Iceland …
"Day freaking ten of watching a potential Asgardian teenager in Iceland is a go", muttered Charles Barton as he continued to monitor the possible Thor relative from several kilometers away. Drinking from his thermos, the freezing Trickshot pondered on how much longer it was going to take until Peggy gave him the okay to move in and get the target to come to SHIELD. Just as he was about to take another sip of his hot chocolate, the biomatrix software in his goggles alerted him to a perimeter breach. Switching to satellite screening over West Valley, he became ignited with caution and annoyance at the sight of two tall intruding figures wearing some very familiar latex suits with numbers on.
"Oh, well, that's just great. The fucking Sons are here. I swear to god kid you better be worth it, because I'm breaking protocol right now", said Trickshot in frustration. The Archer of the Thunderbolts quickly got off his tree and ran toward the orphanage that held the only person on Earth that could lift Mjolnir.
