Winter Schnee was on a mission to secure precious cargo. She watches as her men were loading a train bound for Argus. She stood in her gray uniform, her white overcoat flapping in the wind. Her saber jingles in its scabbard as she walks forward to inspect the train. It was a Heavy Atlassian Model Super Transport Rail, also known as a HAMSTR. She was handed a document by passing logistics officer. She looked at it, frowning as she walks into the cargo hold.
Inside of it was an artifact from an ancient civilization that used to inhabit Mistral. This civilization depicted in the artwork, with descriptions written in strange scratches. They depicted as Sanus, Anima, and Menagerie as all being one giant super continent many millennia ago. This discovery was being kept secret because the general implications was massive. It meant Humanity, and Faunus kind once were thriving on a super continent. She suspected Ozpin didn't even know, which spoke volumes, because it could be from a time even before Salem herself existed.
The Kodai Kakikomi, as it came to be called, set on a on a stone pedestal. It was carved out of a much-destroyed temple, but signs pointed to that temple being obliterated by something other than moon fragments crashing to the ground. It predated the supposed formation of Dust Crystals, depicting people using magic. It also seemed some people had aura, even back then, and that used this magic weaving their hands in certain ways.
Winter found it even weirder that there was no mentioning of the Gods. Either that meant they kept themselves hidden at the time, or the more frightening implication was that they weren't even around. There was no way to tell, no one alive since that era of majesty it seemed. If they were, then why would they let this world come to this hellish existence? Grimm, demons of darkness, roamed every corner o the world.
Humanity, and Faunus kind thrived but barely. There were always on the deterring edge of oblivion, it only took the falling of major capital city to surely bring upon a domino effect. Grimm grew with negative emotions, not in size, but in number. Gods help them all if Vale fell, or even Atlas of all places. Winter shook these from her mind, Atlas falling was an impossibility.
It was the worst-case scenario that requires a tremendous number of things going wrong from the start.
She places her hand on the scroll, feeling the fabric. It was like cotton cloth, except the texture was wrong. The texture was that of wax paper, perhaps made from hornets? It wouldn't be the first time that such things occurred in history, it was after all an ancient Mistralian parchment that used wax paper. She felt the train began to heave a little, meaning that the HAMSTR would begin to move.
This made her contact HQ by using an earwig in her ear. She heard the dial tone as the signals began bouncing off towers leading to Argus's grand communication arrays. It took a few moments, but then she heard the voice she wished to hear for a while now.
"Lieutenant Schnee, I am detecting that the HAMSTR is in motion." She hears her commander say. "I'm assuming that all pre-checks were successfully done?"
"Yes sir," Winter Schnee answers while facing away from the artifact. "The Kodai Kakikomi is secured, beginning transit to Argus City."
"Right, see you in three hours." He states before cutting the communication link.
She exits the cargo car, entering another part of the train. Men dressed in all Atlassian military gear, with their Assault Automatic Rifles in their hands. Their AAR fired electronically propelled rounds with electric dust built into the rifles. She pities anyone foolish enough to face them off. They saluted her as she walks by, eliciting a nod of respect from her before she entered the 'dining car' which was a glorified soup kitchen at best.
"Hello there, Winter," She hears a familiar voice call to her.
She turned around to see a tall man, with a slight tan complexion. He stood six feet, one inches, wore the same type of military uniform as her minus the feminine touches. She noted that his dog tail was wagging a little, especially since he had a ham and cheese sandwich on his plate.
She eyed him, and sighed, "Was that the last ham and chess?"
"Unfortunately for you, good fortune shines on me today, Lieutenant." The big man comments before taking a bite.
Winter smirked and then said, "I could order you to give me that, Clover."
"Pfft," Clover blew before licking the sandwich like a possessive child, "Want it now?"
She grimaced a little, laughing slightly, "Grow up."
"I'll try, no promises, I feel like today is my lucky day!" Clover comments before going back to his sandwich.
Ignoring and sauntering over to the cook. She saw that all that they had left was sauerkraut. Sighing, walking over to the soup options, she found that they had chili. The cook poured a piping hot bowl, smiling brightly. she smiled back, nodding her head before walking over to a table. She sat down, and before she could even enjoy the first spoonful of hearty goodness, she felt the train jerk to a stop!
Her chili spilled on her, eliciting a yelp as she jumped up, wiping it off her white overcoat. She looked at Clover, who saw several people running from the next car into theirs. They had their weapons ready, pointing at the door that they had just came from. They could here the sounds yelling from the car in front of them.
"Stop right there, you're under arrest for terroristic acts!"
"Hold it, I said hold it!"
"He's gonna run at us!"
"I said strop right the-ack?!"
Several loud thumps emanated from the car. Some of the soldiers in there still scream out, but they were cut off by deafening silence. Not one single shot had been fired, which Winter noticed with a nervousness falling over her. Clover was at the front of the door, looking at it. He motions people around to cover it, all of a sudden one of their fellow soldiers walked out.
He had a drawing of a winking face on his forehead, his pants were done, exposing his smiley face underwear. He shook, looking around, and found Winter.
"Lieutenant Schnee," the man quivers as he tried to hide his shame. "He just came out of nowhere, he must've been on board the entire time!"
"Who?!" She demands while looking over his shoulder.
He didn't get to answer as the top of the train was ripped off by a massive red claw! Winter, Clover, and her soldiers looked on in shock as the top of train was exposed over a large valley. The thing that had to rip the top off had to be standing below them. She saw someone standing on the car's roof in front of them. He had blonde hair, blue eyes, and had his hands casually behind his head. He wore a white cloak with flames on the bottom, and a black headband on the top of his head. The headbands tails fluttered in the window behind.
He greeted them with a two-finger salute, "Yo, sorry about this but I couldn't just ask nicely, could I?"
"Open fire men!" Clover orders while getting his fishing pole weapon ready.
The blonde in front of them merely backflipped off the train as gauss rounds shredded where he had been standing. Winter saw the other soldiers in the car that had been attacked. They were moving, albeit only because they were breathing. No outward signs of fatal wounds. She then felt the train shake as something lifts them up, she saw what looked like a giant red tail. She tries reach HQ, but found that no one was answering, as if all electronic communications were blocked.
Clover held on for dear life as they roughly were hitting a shoreline in the valley. That's when she saw it, a giant nine-tailed fox, and the blonde standing on top of him. It was over in an instant as it disappeared into a massive cloud of smoke, flooding the entire valley. She made her troops, and Clover, move into the car where even more of her squad was. They were arming themselves with every heavy weapon they could find, with one even commenting on the giant beast that they saw out there.
"Oh Gods, Winter, what the hell was that thing?!" Clover yells as he began loading a dust launch, "That's the largest thing I've ever seen in my life!"
Winter bit her lip as she thought, and then said, "Whatever it was it was obeying that blonde man's orders."
"Well, it's glad to know that you think of me as a man!" She hears from above them.
Then came the knocking, and him speaking to them, "I'm not going to hurt any of you, dattebayo. I'm just hear for the artifact you found, as much as I'm glad that you're guarding it well enough we both know that Salem knows."
"How do you know her?!" Winter demands as she got her saber ready.
She heard a laugh from out, and he replied, "She's a pain in the ass to anyone in this world."
"Winter, I don't like this…" Clover said while backing up to her. "He's acting like he's not even afraid of us, something is wrong, very wrong I don't even think she'd send any of her personal minions to go after this package because of the risk."
They heard a loud thump, which made them jump, "Sorry just sitting down out here! Also, did my friend scare you all earlier, normally he's a calm and reasonable person."
"Person, I don't give a damn about what you are at this point, that thing wasn't a person!" Clover yells up at their assailant.
"You know that calling for help is useless, I kind of preplanned this. Whole bunch of things you wouldn't understand, seals and such, that block electrical signals in the valley. You technically dropped off radar the moment you went over the bridge! Once again, not trying to scare you all, but I'm not exactly in a rush." The blonde from atop states.
"Man, screw this," one of the soldiers points his rifle up. "Go to hell, ya bastard!"
Gauss rounds ripped the roof open, but only showed where blonde had been. Clear blue skies flooded light into the car as cold air rushed in. The soldier shook, shaking his head, there was just no way he could've missed from that distance. The cook from earlier than saw someone in the ripped open cart, casually getting bowl of chili.
"He's there!" He shouts, making soldiers point their rifles at the figure.
They open fire, spilling gauss rounds down the car's corridor, into the next the car. The figure only stepped the side, going outside, with his chili intact. The rest of the food had been obliterated as round slammed into it. Shredded containers, cookware, and pots splattered the kitchen car's floor. Winter and Clover moved in, checking the corners as she pointed her sword outward.
Clover looked behind him, only to see the side of the car they have left explode inward. Several soldiers were knocked into one another, knocking themselves out. The blonde from before casually stepped in, deflecting a whack from a rifle. He merely smacks the rifle out of the soldiers' hands, punching with hand rapidly into the soldier's chest, making him cave backwards. He was breathing hard, the armor shattered.
He yawned, looking at Clover and Winter. He smiled, giving them a hand waive.
"Hey there, question, are you two hungry? I'm not really a big chili person, I personally prefer a bowl piping hot miso pork ramen with narutomaki." He tells them causally, tossing the bowl over to Winter, who merely side stepped it.
He frowned and sighed, "You know no one likes someone who wastes food."
"Surrender now," Clover orders as he got ready to fight. "If you surrender, we'll make sure you get plenty of that."
"Sheesh, at least be honest with me!" The blonde replies as he put his arms behind his head. "So, no offense to you all but you got something that belongs to my people."
"Your people, bullshit," Clover comments as he and Winter approach him.
Clover slung his weapon forward, making the clawed hook at the end soar toward the blonde. Instead of dodging, the blonde just wrapped it around his wrist and pulled! Clover went soaring toward him, the man's eyes widened as he clotheslined in the chest, making him slam into the ground just next to the blonde's feet.
The blonde stepped over him, hands going back behind his head. He looked at Winter, smiling a little softly, and dodged the first stab by taking a step back. She slashes at him, making him roll with the movements, easily dodging each attack as if she hadn't been a master of swordplay for years. He took a step forward, gripping her wrist, and smiled.
She spat in his face, making him frown before he heard footsteps. Clover tackled him, making him stumble back a little. His response was to simply dig his feet in, stopping the large man before simply tossing him into the side of the train. He began to approach Winter again when he suddenly leaned forward to avoid a horseshoe. Winter's eyes widened as she saw it coming right at her. Suddenly the blonde appeared in front of her, grabbing it midair before it could hit her in the face.
Clover stood there, mouth agape, "Holy shit…that was fast…"
"You know where I come from, we usually make sure that our friends aren't in range of our attacks." The blonde comments before tossing the horseshoe back to Clover. "Okay, but seriously can we just top for a minute and take me to the artifact in the back!"
Winter slammed her elbow into him, kicking down the car. The blonde looked hurt, slightly, but then lightly rubbed his side. He smirked, that was a cheap shot!
"Ouch, Yuki-hime, seriously? I thought you saber types fought clean, pfft, that's gonna be small rib bruise dattebayo!" He whines with a grin on his face.
Clover and she charged forward. He simply yawned using his knees to block punches from Clover, whilst also dodging various slashes from Winter. He didn't even use his hands! He leaned side to side to deliver kicks to Clover, who gritted his teeth in pain before getting kicked away by a powerful front kick. The blonde tripped Winter, but before she could fall down, he caught by placing his hand behind her back.
He winked at her before dodging back as she tried to stab him, "Bastard!"
"Before we continue," He smiles while stopping her, "Can I have your name? Honestly, no to throw you off or anything, but your eyes are kind of mesmerizing. Like ice sheets being over a blue ocean."
Winter just stopped, and Clover watched as pink dusted over her cheeks. His face dropped, with his eyes widening. He got up, struggling to do so as he held his ribs from where he had gotten kicked repeatedly. He struggled to stand besides Winter, who motioned him to stand down. She separated her saber into two, walking toward the blonde.
"As you wish, but I warn you, I'll be sending you to the afterlife shortly afterwards!" Winter yells as she charged, "My name is Winter Schnee!"
The blonde smiles, getting a kunai knife out and striking upwards to deflect one of her swords. She slashed with her parrying blade, which leaned back to dodge. He spun around cutting her bun's hairband off, her white flowed downward. She expected a smug smirk, but instead found him smiling while clashing blades with her again. She activated her semblance, attempting to create several swallow-like creatures.
They flew at him while he ran backwards, she only realizes her error when the door to the car holding the artifact was wrenched open. He stood there, looking inside of it, turned to her with a smile. She ran after him as he walked inside. Clover was following close behind her when the door closed on his face.
He cursed, slamming his hand against it.
He walks over to the artifact, and Winter what as he began weaving his hands together. Her eyes widened in shock as the small frog emerged from a cloud of smoke on his arm. He smiled at the frog, nodding at the scroll, the frog jumped onto it. She couldn't yell at him in time to stop before the artifact and small frog disappeared in a small cloud of smoke.
Turning toward her, he smiles softly, leaning over the empty spot where the artifact used to be.
"Sorry to do this to you, Yuki-hime, but quite frankly that scroll can't fall into her hands at any cost. I'm sure you understand," He tells her before snapping his finger.
The HAMSTR was suddenly lifted back up, loosely onto the tracks. She looked to see the giant foxlike creature standing there. He heard her companion screaming to the top of his lungs for her. He looked at her, smiling.
"Boyfriend, or something?" He inquires while walking toward the cargo door.
Winter growls, pointing her blade at him, "I didn't say you could leave!"
"I know," He states while opening the door. "By the way, if you're wondering what Yuki-hime means…its means Ice Princess in your language."
"Language…wait you can't possibly be…" She realizes before remembering looking at the front of the scroll. "Are you him, the one who wrote it?"
He shook his head, "He's my ancestor, but gotta admit I drew the genetic lottery to look a lot like him."
"Who are you people?" She inquires, still pointing her swords at him.
He laughed at her before standing at the opening of the train.
"My name is Naruto Uzumaki, Yuki-Hime. I'm what you would call a prince," He tells her before tossing something toward her. "Just in case you find more of my people's artifacts."
"Wait!" She yells out before watching him step of the car's threshold.
She watched as he and the giant fox disappeared. Clover finally managed to break in, looking at her. She was unhurt, but she looked at what he had given her. It was written in her language, thank the Gods, but she looked confused at what it was asking her to do.
"Take black ink, draw this matrix on a wall, use a small amount of blood. It's a contract summoning, don't kiss the talking frogs. They're not the prince."
She blushes while looking at Clover, who just looked at her, "What the hell did I miss?"
"Apparently someone got their property back," Winter sighs as she looked at him. "How do we tell Ironwood this?"
"I don't know," Clover looked at their hurt troops, "But I think he's going to loose a few screws from sheer anger."
Winter nods her head, a strange feeling in her heart, "No matter we've got a way to contact him."
"We do, well shit, I guess that makes this easier if we got to hunt him." Clover replies before walking away.
Winter stares at the piece of paper, and then smiled softly, "You're mine alone to hunt…Fox Prince."
