Weiss looks herself over in the mirror at least ten times before deciding that she looks good enough to leave her house.
Her hair was pristinely tied up and to the side. Her dress fit perfectly. She had found the right shoes to wear. It was the only acceptable way to present herself. Perfectly.
Maybe Blake would take her back. She repeats this idea over and over in her head as she grabs her bag and keys, making her way to the car. She notices that Blake's car is nowhere to be found in the parking lot. Odd.
She would think that she should be getting ready for her party, at home. Shaking the worry from her mind, she gets in the car and drives back to the party venue.
"Well, well, well. Look who made the right decision to show up!" Yang punches her lightly in the shoulder, and she grimaces. Not out of pain, just annoyance. "Nice outfit choice. Looking smoking hot. Blake will be super excited to see you. She might even smile." As she says it, the tone of sarcasm is easily detectable in Yang's voice. Though she is sure the part about Blake smiling is completely true.
People begin to trickle into the party over the next half hour. And nearly an hour later, Weiss has made enough small talk to make her feel like she is back in Atlas.
"Ruby, have you seen Blake?" Weiss looks around, searching for the reason she showed up her in the first place.
"No." Ruby mumbles in between bites of cookie. "Yang and I both text her, but she didn't respond. She'll be here though. Blake never misses a commitment."
"Yeah and she's also never late for anything either, but here we are." Yang leans back in her chair, arms crossed over her chest. "I told her about this stupid party way in advance. And she couldn't even be bothered to show up. I even invited all these stuck up doctor people too."
Weiss sighs, beginning to worry that maybe something had happened. Yang and Ruby were right. She turns her phone over a few times in her hand before biting the bullet and sending Blake a message of her own.
~ I know this probably isn't the way you wanted to hear from me, or if you do at all, but I was just checking to make sure you are okay. People are starting to worry since you aren't here and aren't answering your messages.
She nervously hits send and awaits a response. The message shows as delivered. But never changes to show that it's been read.
Another half hour passes, and Yang is now visibly frustrated by Blake's absence. She can see her talking very animately into her phone. Hopefully she was getting through to Blake, since her message had still be unread and unanswered.
"I think I'm going to leave." Weiss mutters quietly to Ruby.
"Are you going to find Blake?" Ruby's mouth is still full of desserts when she speaks, but right now not even that can bother Weiss. She was truly beginning to worry.
"I'm not sure But I think it's time for me to go." She leans over to grab her bag and turns back to Ruby. "The party was lovely Ruby, thank you for helping."
"No problem. Good luck!"
As she slides into the driver's seat of her car, Weiss notices that there's still no response to her message. Blake had always been diligent about responding to messages or calls. Even when she was at the hospital. If anything, she would at least let her know she was okay, but busy. But now, there was nothing. And Weiss was worried.
So she calls. It goes straight to voicemail. Either the phone was powered off, or her call had been instantly declined. She didn't know which was worse.
She drives to the apartment and notices that Blake's car still isn't there. So she turns the car around and keeps driving. She's not exactly sure where to start looking, so she heads toward the campus. Maybe Blake had gone back to the school for something..
