As a child, Weiss was taught Murphy's Law by her grandfather, Nicholas. That anything, if given ample opportunity, can go wrong. Those words were ringing in her head, along with her brain as she was awoken with a harsh kick to her ribs!

"Gah!" She coughed whilst a White Fang soldier reared back, and delivering another kick. It elicited another gasp from her, this time she tasted copper in her mouth as she craned her neck to see her partner for this mission. "Where…are we?"

The soldier grabbed her by the side of her head, gripping a handful of her snow colored hair. Yank up, she was brought eye level with his amber eyes. "End of the fucking line, if our leader decides it, Schnee bitch." He spat on her face before slamming her back down.

She groans in pain, but noticed the grunts coming from a couple of White Fang soldiers who kicked at the prone form of her partner for this scouting mission. He breathed out a gasp of sharp air before one of them kicked him in the face. He coughed up blood, obviously from his busted lip. He slightly chuckled as he was forced to lean up, his whisker marks on his cheeks adorned with fresh bruises.

"Jeez, guys, an alarm clock would've work, you really suc-gack!" He didn't finish as a fist found his face, nearly knocking him out as his nose dripped blood. It only made him return the action with a sneer. "You hit like a little girl, ya know."

"Little bastard," the man drawing his fist back again growled. "You fucking race traitors, all you had to do was walk away, and you'd been fine!"

"Uh huh, but here is my counteroffer…fuck and you." The blonde retorted before getting punched in the face again. "Still…like a girl, come back with another one there, Sally."

"You little punk!"

The man was stopped when his partner grabbed his hand. "Copper, enough, if we beat him to death we won't be able to locate the other elements to their scouting parties." His partner stated as she held his hand back.

Copper, the large man who had punched him gathered spit into his mouth before spitting it right into the blonde's face. "Little fucker, I'll be back with my little tools to make you talk. Thumper, time to fuck off from the Schnee bitch for a while! Let 'em marinate!" he ordered the one almost about to kick Weiss again.

Thumper, growls before walking away from Weiss, who noted the very poor condition of her teammate. The skin under his eye was busted open, not doubt he lost a tooth. They had beat him to hell and back, all because he continued fighting as he went down. She could've sworn that he took down a few of them, no doubt they wanted his blood for their fallen comrades.

The White Fang soldiers exited the room, leaving the two mere feet apart from each other.

She was about to speak when his voice filled the room first. "Well, leave it to my rotten luck for us to find them first. Hey, Snow Princess, are you okay…they break a rib?" He asked her before shifting himself to lean against the cold wall of the cave.

"I'll live if they did, what about you?" She inquired, noting his smile, despite the beating. "This is no time to look like you usually do, dolt!"

"Oh c'mon, you always find it funny when I give that goofy smile. Shit," he cursed before hissing as his wounds began to close up. "We might really be in a pickle here, Weiss."

"What gave you that idea, I mean were only captured and our friends have no idea where we could be." Weiss sardonically agreed whilst still trying to shift herself, and then music began to play from the next rooms over from the makeshift walls. "Oh, great, they're playing heavy metal."

"Pfft, don't knock it. Wait…" Naruto listened closer and then chuckled lightly. "Son of a bitch that's a human band, hypocrites!"

"Shut the fuck up in there!"

"Eh, assholes, wonder if Adam is in charge of this operation. I mean, paint a small little mustache over his upper lip he'd remind me a racist Atlassian general just a little bit." Naruto joked despite the situation, besides herself Weiss found herself lightly chuckling at that.

"No, really, didn't notice." She retorted with annoyance before raising herself up. "Normally I live it to Yang to keep up with those observations, but she's in rehab right now."

"Getting your arm sliced off at the elbow tends to do that to people." He pointed out matter-of-factly before suddenly eyeing her bloody lip. "Weiss, you're bleeding!"

"I know, my aura is acting weird, I think one of them has a semblance that disrupts the regeneration rate." She figured before finally leaning on the cave wall nearest her. "Do you think Ruby, and Jaune are looking for us?"

"Knowing them, they're freaking out right now. They lost Pyrrha, we lost Pyrrha, so they might think we're done for. Damn near lost Yang, hopefully the fucker is here, I owe her an arm." He stated before suddenly coughing up a wad of blood. "Damn…it."

"Are you okay?" Weiss asked as her icy blue eyes saw blood dribble from his mouth, watching him lean back up before seeing a bright smile on his face. "Naruto, seriously, are you okay?"

"I'm going to be fine, just never thought I'd be relying on Lee and Tenten to use their tracking skills. Fuck me, I never taught them as best as I should've. Some team lead I am, whelp, I'll be putting that on my to do list when we get out of here." Naruto said positively before another coughing fit hit him, and he saw thick crimson running from his mouth. "Oh, that sucks, I think they knocked me around while we were asleep."

She could tell from his extra bruises that might not be too far off from reality. He had thrown himself in front of her take the first round of darts aimed for them. It was ironic that one took her down, and judging by the pinpricks across his head and neck, he had gone down swinging. The blonde shifted himself along the cave wall, looking Weiss in the eyes.

"Hey, Weiss, might be a bad time to point this out. Your left eye is kind of bruised, I'd try to give you some aura…but…" Naruto struggled to walk on his knees, noting one of his legs was busted. "I think my left leg is broke-ish."

"That's not a word…wait, did you say your leg is broke?" She questioned, noting that he was sitting up on his knees. "Naruto, just sit down, you're going to hurt yourself more."

"Meh, pain and I are old buddies at this point." Naruto grimly replied with a sigh before smiling slightly. "I guess we're gonna be stuck here for a minute."

Weiss took a minute, biting her lip, "why did you convince me to stay at Beacon given my father trying to take me to Atlas?"

"Well, Ruby needed you, poor Silver is besides herself. Ya know, her sister being nearly dead really shook her up. She has been wanting to settle a score with Adam, it scares me." Naruto answered whilst thinking of the hooded reaper. "She's too young to have that kind of hatred burning in her heart."

"You speak like you know that kind of hatred." She said with knowing look. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

"In a minute," Naruto shifts himself around to put more weight on his right knee. "Me, and hatred old intimate friends that court each other on daily basis, Weiss."

"You, full of hatred, are you being facetious with me right now?" She nearly laughed until she noted the look in his eye, something was bothering him. "I'm sorry…I…"

"You're fine, no way you would know, I never tell anyone anything about my past. The way I figured it, no one wants to hear about why an orphan is trying to become a Huntsman. It's obvious really, I mean look at Ren and Nora. They have each other, and that's precious, they need to realize that before it's too late for them. Regrets Weiss, that's what I'm trying to leave at the door on my way out." Naruto grimly joked before closing his eyes, and then smiles softly. "You know, for all our arguments, I kind of admire you…takes a lot of guts to abandon the glitz and glamor."

That took her by surprise, he admires her? Surely, she misheard him, but there was no way she did. She simply stared at him, stunned silent for a moment with that confession. Noting a slight tinge of pink on his bruised cheeks. She always figured that he hated the fact with the way she acted.

"What do you mean by admire me?" She questioned him.

He shifted uncomfortably for a moment, chuckling lightly, "it's stupid…"

"You can tell me, not like we're going anywhere…ya know." Weiss tried to copy his antics, finding it awkward. "Why do always say ya know?"

"I have no idea, Weiss." He bit his lip at that end before taking a deep breath, and finally just saying how he felt. "I guess you could call it a sort of crush, I'm not sure what to call it. At first, I hated you, gods I hated you. Spoiled, goodie-goodie, who believed that she was right because she had a proper education. Honestly, we are polar opposites."

"Oh…" she trailed off slightly, crestfallen a little at his answer…until he said the next part. "I'm sorry…for everything I said about you before…"

"Water under the bridge, Snow Princess." Naruto bit his lip before looking at her. "Do you want me to tell you that it changed?"

"It did?"

"Did you not hear me earlier when I said I had a sort of crush on you?" He questioned her, and then laughed a little. "You going deaf over there?"

"S-shut up, it's just that when you said you hated me…"

"I did, and it changed. For one, you stuck around. Weiss, you could've ran for the hills but stuck by your friends. Like I said, you have a lot of guts. I guess I find it attractive." He blushed when he said that before smiling brightly despite his bloody face. "So, what about me?"

Weiss bit her lip, leaning against the cave wall to support herself more. "Well, I can't say that you're ugly." She offered up, making him chagrin a little bit.

"Jeez, careful Snow Princess, wouldn't want to flirt with me now." He joked before she sucked her teeth, an indicator for him to shut up. "I'm sorry, go ahead."

She blushes a little bit, "I guess sweet is another word for you…I mean the way you seem to care about Ruby, Nora, Jaune…even me." she pointed out whilst taking a deep breath. "Is there something that you're hiding from us about that?"

"I had…" Naruto chuckled slightly before looking off to the side. "I had a daughter…"

That took Weiss by surprise, making take a double take. "Wait a minute! Are you telling me at eighteen, you're a father?! Who's the mother? Where is the baby pictures, you never talk about her!" She accused him, but then noticed the hurt in expression. "Sh-she's gone…isn't she?"

"Well, considering I'm still…a virgin. I never had her the traditional way. She was a baby when she came to the orphanage, I grew up in. I raised her from diapers, changed her…fed her…" Naruto closed his eyes before tears came out of them. "I loved her, not because we were orphans, but because I felt like a genuine bond with that baby. Maybe she's more of a little sister, but I'll never forget the day she called me papa."

Weiss saw a peaceful smile come over his face. She saw him open those azure eyes, which were now filled with warmth. This was…very intimate knowledge from someone she considered a friend. The blonde took a deep breath, smiling brightly.

"Lune, Lune was her name. I named her myself, and it stuck because no one took her for three years. In those three years, I learned how to change diapers, make formula, braid hair…the whole nine yards. I was starting Pharos Academy around that time, and I would make the daily twenty mile trek home there just to be with her. Seeing her smile, play, I guess I was always meant to be a dad…" Naruto remembered the little girl fondly, seeing her silverly hair bounce up and down as he pushed her on a slide. "I was fifteen when…when someone finally adopted her."

"How old was she?" She inquired, absolutely stunned by the story. "Lune…"

"Five," he answered almost immediately, "and I had to get a call from the nuns at the place because she refused to go…and I learned a very valuable lesson that day…"

"What was that," she felt on the verge of crying, "Naruto?"

Naruto took a deep breath, "if you truly love and cherish someone…you'll let them go if means they'll be happier."

He heart broke with that, she started crying, noting the tears falling from his eyes. It hurt him to say that, because she noted the shift in his warmth inside those eyes. "Lune made me feel human, that I was loved by someone truly, and when I had to let her go to be with a true family…it broke me." Naruto sobbed before lowering his head. "I didn't eat for days, didn't drink, nor sleep. I remember the last thing I told her…go be happy and live joyfully."
