Note: Thank you so much everyone for the kind response. I have a tiny backup of chapters, and work is going to get crazy soon. So I'm going to try to time my updates so there is not a huge gap.

Chapter Two: To Have Me Crystalized

Sasuke tossed a stack of file folders onto Itachi's desk. Papers slid out of them and onto the floor. Itachi raised his eyebrow.

Sasuke sighed and picked up the paperwork. He arranged the pile messily. Itachi raised his other eyebrow. Sasuke sighed louder and carefully picked through the pieces of paper to arrange them in their original order.

"I think the Hyuga is really the only choice. Only 3 of them are qualified. And she's cute." Sasuke wiggled his eyebrows meaningfully.

"And why are you going through confidential information, hmm?" Shisui said from where he was leaning on the right side of the desk.

Itachi worked very hard to keep from rolling his eyes. What was the point of living in the Hokage Tower and working to separate himself from the Uchiha if the Uchiha kept imposing themselves on him? No wonder the Hyuga were bristling.

Sasuke scoffed and waved off his cousin. "I have police clearance. Did you forget who runs the backgrounds for positions in the Hokage Tower?"

"Yes." Shisui grinned. "Akemi, Daitan, and Risako. Because they work in Backgrounds, Sergeant."

Sasuke leaned forward, scowling. Shisui met him, grinning madly.

"Gentlemen." Itachi murmured, not looking up from his paperwork.

The two of them leaned back.

"I'm just saying." Sasuke continued. "Having some eye candy around here wouldn't hurt."

Shisui slapped Sasuke upside the head. "She's a nin just like us. It doesn't matter what she looks like. Is she qualified?"

"She's qualified." Itachi said, finally raising his gaze. "Maybe too qualified. But if Hiashi insists on having a Hyuga in the Hokage Office, I might have to let him."

He spared a look to the desk in the corner. A slumbering Naruto was drooling on his own set of paperwork. Itachi knew for a fact that Naruto hated paperwork. Itachi had hopes that it would be a good way to train Naruto for the office.

But to be honest, Naruto would probably have his own team to handle it for him. Also, Itachi really needed Naruto running diplomatic missions. No one managed to make friends and allies like Naruto. If the bandit problem continued to get worse, all the nin villages needed to be on the same page.

The best job training for Naruto would be active diplomacy. Not paperwork.

He took a page from his brother and sighed.

"Naruto." He said firmly.

Naruto jerked upright; a piece of paper stuck to the side of his face. "What?"

Sasuke snorted. Shisui snickered.

Naruto took the paper off his face and the ink smeared on his cheek. It only helped cement Itachi's position. Naruto needed to get out of this office as soon as possible.

"What do you think of Hyuga Hinata as my assistant?" Itachi asked.

Naruto beamed. His delight practically lit up the whole room. "She's really nice! She won't let you down! Believe it!"

Itachi gestured at Naruto and addressed his family. "There you go. If she passes the interviews, she's in."

She passed.
