There was suddenly a bright light and high pitched screams which Rose was pretty sure came from Christian and Mason and there was note and then a person appeared out of nowhere and Tatiana and Mia were missing.
"What the actual fuck?" Eddie said with raised eyebrows. The person was a Moroi who was about 5'10 and looked like he was in his mid 20's…around Dimitri's age. Everybody was quiet before Dimitri stepped forward slowly, rare surprise and shock on his face.
"Ivan?" he said, shock ringing in his voice.
"Dimitri?" Ivan said, his face breaking out in a grin as he hugged his best friend.
"Hold on. How?" Rose said seriously.
"Guess it explains it in the note." Olena said, after hugging Ivan. Lissa took the note and read it.
"Apparently, these books are from Saint Vladimir and he brought Ivan back to life..." Lissa said, trailing off. "And well, there wasn't much need of the queen and Mia during the reading so they're not going to be here any longer but they're alive." Lissa said, reassuring the room at the end.
"Jesus Christ." Christian said and looked at Rose who shook her head and shrugged.
"That's pretty neat." She said
"Its not whiskey." Christian said sarcastically.
"Hey, whiskey neat's neat too." Rose grinned. Ivan laughed and even Abe chuckled.
"Agreed." Adrian nodded.
"All right, you three. I'm sure the topic is very interesting but we have to read." Alberta said.
"I thought they just sent Mia?" Viktoria said
"Yeah but apparently he felt like they should remove Mia for now at least." Lissa said
In the meantime, Yeva had given Ivan a brief about what had happened.
SENDING US STRAIGHT TO CLASS…Or died
"Optimistic much?" Christian raised an eyebrow.
"Of course." Rose replied
The visit took all of five minutes…they'd stuck her in there too.
"Staying in the academy that long really gives you the hang of timetable, doesn't it?" Olena said
"You bet." Rose nodded
Dimitri and Alberta escorted me…but I didn't want to ever cut my hair.
Abe hid a smile and Dimitri and Rose exchanged a look.
She and Dimitri didn't say anything…like a rock star or a circus freak.
"You'd always be a rock star." Eddie chuckled.
"True." Rose said, swishing her hair.
All right, then. If I was going…I could barely hold back my grin.
"You can never hold your grin around me." Mason said smugly.
"Well what can one do, Ashford? Your charm absolutely messes with me." Rose said with a grin
"One can only hope to affect a Hathaway that way." Mason said dramatically
"He's not wrong." Abe muttered under his breath and was only heard by Janine.
"Why are you guys like this?" Eddie chuckled.
"You are just like us." Mason and Rose in unison
"Can't deny the truth." Eddie sighed
"Hey Mason, wipe the drool…on your own time."
Everybody laughed.
"It was my time." Mason winked. Rose punched him in the arm with a laugh.
A few snorts and snickers broke…though not exactly hot
"You wound me." Mason sighed.
"Part time job, Mase." Rose said with a grin that made Mason laugh.
"Does it pay because I'd like to join?" Adrian grinned
"Depends on the scars." Rose answered, earning a punch in the arm from Mason.
"I shall join then." Adrian nodded.
He was also one of the funniest guys I knew
"No wonder you guys are good friends then." Ivan said
We'd been good friends…Another friend of mine.
The three novices high fived.
"You know novices tend to be better friends to each other than the Moroi being friends among each other." Lissa noted
"That's true." Dimitri nodded.
"They can be good friends with Moroi too." Alberta added "But that's not always true. Like, dhampirs and Moroi can be great friends and novices are good friends but there is always a lot of drama between the Moroi." She explained
"Yeah, I guess novices are better friends to each other than the Moroi students among each other because we know what our future holds." Eddie sighed
"Guess we just want to live in the present." Rose agreed
"Facts." Mason sighed. The guardians sighed as well, knowing exactly what the novices were talking about.
Dimitri shook his head…that didn't sound complimentary.
"It wasn't." Dimitri admitted
"What'd you say then?" Ivan asked with a grin
"What have I done to listen to this." Dimitri said with a small smile.
"So funny." Rose said, sticking her tongue out at him. Ivan burst out laughing.
"I like you." He said
"Why thank you." Rose grinned
But as for me, well…politics than the Moroi students.
"Exactly. We know and see everything but we just don't give two fucks." Mason smirked
"You guys really need to focus on the language." Christian rolled his eyes
"Hypocrite." Rose retorted. Christian smirked.
The class engulfed me…that served just as well.
Everybody chuckled.
The happy reunion lasted a few…you've been doing all this time."
Rose groaned and Mason laughed.
An hour later…me down on - about fifty times.
Janine shook her head.
"I hate you," I told him…He grinned mockingly.
Christian snorted with laughter.
"Good one." He told Mason and then got a full view to Rose's middle finger.
"She'd kill you now." Eddie said to Mason with a grin
"You bet." Rose said and fist bumped Eddie
"Are you suggesting what I think you are?" Mason looked at her with direct eye contact.
"Yes sir." Rose grinned
"Well shit. We're going to be having one of the infamous Rose and Mason spars." Eddie announced. Alberta groaned.
"Another one?" she asked. Mason and Rose nodded.
"So then the faster we read, the faster we can get to it." Lissa said, excitement on her face. The ones who didn't know about the Rose-Mason spars sat up eagerly as well.
"Did I mention I hate you?"… "So the man is a god."
Mason blushed.
"Ah so that's where that came from." Dimitri looked knowingly at Rose with amusement. Rose smiled sheepishly.
"Exaggerate much?" I asked…when he's done with you."
Dimitri's family chuckled.
"Something else to improve your day." Adrian said, shaking his head, unable to hide a small chuckle.
Great. Something else to improve my day.
"You've got to be kidding me." Rose said. Adrian winked at her and Janine rolled her eyes at him.
I elbowed him and went on to second…"Guardian Alto" in formal settings.
Alberta shook her head fondly.
He was a little older than Dimitri…always looked pissed off.
"He's 26." Christian supplied
"How'd you know?" Rose asked
"You come to know things when people don't notice you and you slip past like a shadow." Christian shrugged.
"That's sad." Karolina sighed. Christian shrugged again.
Today, that look intensified…Go to the front of the class."
"Never really got his problem." Mason shook his head
A thick silence enveloped the room…a whole and monitoring classes
"That's smart." Abe nodded.
"So, Hathaway," said Stan…to constant Strigoi threats."
"Either way she was facing threats." Rose grumbled
It was the Kirova lecture…let alone an actual Strigoi.
The guardians nodded.
When I didn't say anything…back more swear words.
"Now, that would have been difficult." Eddie said amusedly.
"I watched the area whenever…"Because you got lucky."
"He's not wrong." Alberta sighed
"Strigoi aren't lurking around…with the Strigoi!" he yelled.
Everybody grimaced.
I could smell coffee…he was so close.
"He drinks a lot and I mean a lot of coffee." Mason nodded
"One of them could walk…nothing, compared to a Strigoi.
"In a way, Rose, I think this might have benefited you." Adrian said carefully
"You're dead." Mason and Eddie said in unison to him.
"He's not totally wrong." Rose told them and nodded to Adrian.
"I still hate Stan though." She said. "And there wasn't exactly a need for him to do this in front of everybody."
"Everybody always gets busted in front of the class or by the principal. You already got busted by the principal and it was time for the class one." Christian said to Rose.
"Right." Rose said
They are deadly…simply turning Strigoi by choice
Everybody flinched at that.
"They have to learn to protect themselves." Christian deadpanned. Abe looked at him curiously, not having met too many people who were ready to voice their opinions out, especially not at that age.
And as the Moroi disappear…staged attacks and other threats
The novices looked beyond excited for that.
How a novice passed…only one Moroi I wanted.
Lissa looked up from the book and she and Rose exchanged warm smiles.
Two classes later…godly good looks.
Rose turned slightly red and Dimitri raised an eyebrow. Ivan and Dimitri's family roared with laughter. Mason and Adrian looked at Dimitri and shook their heads.
"I suppose you saw what…You'll always be lacking."
"Exactly." Janine said
"I'll be able to protect her,"… a warm and fuzzy mentor.
"Rose, no guardian is warm or fuzzy while mentoring." Alberta pointed out.
"Fair." Rose sighed
"No one wants to waste the bond…the Americanized nickname.
Everybody sighed.
He walked away, and suddenly…stood nearby at a polite distance.
Christian and Rose clenched their jaws.
"Mr. Dash-er, Your Highness…only one left in her line.
Lissa winced.
"How was your first day?"… Avoiding them was pretty easy."
"They aren't, actually." Ivan said, looking impressed.
He laughed. "I've hunted…I sounded just like Stan now.
"Oh, the pain and trauma." Mason groaned dramatically.
"You're a smart girl…it's a tremendous asset."
Rose and Christian looked at each other, not getting how they missed that before. Victor had literally mentioned his hobby of studying spirit to Rose before and they'd missed it.
"I guess." I shrugged…library covered in spiderwebs.
Abe and Adrian snorted in amusement.
Victor tilted his head… "Near the time of the accident?"
Rose swore and so did Christian.
"We gave him too much information." Rose groaned
"Can't believe we missed that." Christian shook his head
"Hey, we missed it too." Alberta said calmly, though even she wasn't feeling too good about it.
Hesitantly, I nodded…None of them had, only me.
Lissa and Rose flinched. The others grimaced.
And the doctors said that…I shouldn't have survived.
Abe was just glad that Rose had survived though he also wanted to know how but at the same time he was not fond of the amount of pain Rose had gone through.
Apparently sensing my discomfort…she'd inherited that quality from.
"Damn." Adrian chuckled.
Lunch was ticking down…quite the failure when you left."
Lissa winced.
"Don't feel guilty about this." Christian said calmly to her and she nodded.
A sinking sensation filled my…worry over our disappearance.
"Yeah, that guilt is long gone." Rose said in disgust.
Until now, I hadn't really…dripped off the word Dragomir.
Rose gritted her teeth and Mason shook his head. Mia was ridiculous.
Grabbing Doll Girl by the shoulder…why you're done talking to her."
"You tell her, Rose!" Viktoria cheered and Rose smiled at her.
"Chapter's done." Lissa sighed
"I'll read." Ivan said. Lissa smiled at passed the book to him. As he opened the book, there was another flash with a note. Alberta read it this time.
"It says that Rose can come back for the reading once everybody gets sorted out and adjusted because the books are about her." She said
"Fun. Do I have a choice?" Rose asked. Alberta shook her head.
"The note says that the chapters or books you miss will be given to you to read but you won't be there for the reactions and it'll be in accordance to the ones that everybody reads. It says that you would have to stay at court but the others will be staying somewhere else because they're not allowed to tell you the reactions but you will be able to meet them during the day time...Only the rooms are separate." Alberta sighed
"Sounds like a punishment." Rose protested and grumbled
"It isn't. I think its mostly just about everybody getting adjusted to everything." Dimitri explained calmly. "Its not going to take that long. I think you'll be back by the time the second book or first book is done. There are 6 so you're going to be there for 4 or 5 and you're going to be able to meet everybody." He explained. Rose sighed and nodded.
"All right." She sighed. She was guided by the guardians to her room where she decided to rest for some time. They told her that they'd call her once the others were breaking for the spars and eating and for training. She'd be allowed to roam the court if she wanted.
"I'm going to start now." Ivan informed everybody and opened the book.
