I'm pretty sure if I had ever had a hangover this is exactly what it would feel like. I groaned sitting up. As soon as I opened my eyes I snapped them closed again. It hurt. It was dark out and pretty cold so I was fairly sure it was early in the morning. Letting myself adjust, I realized I was in Sheriff Stilinski's cruiser. I blinked a few times trying to get the cobwebs out of my mind. I looked for my phone but couldn't find it, and the keys weren't in the truck. Stepping out on rubbery knees to look around, I was in the middle of a parking lot with no one around. I calculated where I must be and set off for the closest place the pack might be, the Argents. It was slow going. I thought back at what happened. Why this time when he took away the chaos inside of me did it not feel good? As I continued though I realized I felt fine, just very tired, maybe I didn't sleep as much as I should have.
The elevator took forever to get to their floor. I hoped someone would be home. Though, I was not above breaking in. I heard a roar from inside and pushed the door open to find Argent with a gun to Derek's head "Derek. Don't make me kill you. Please" I heard him beg. I sagged against the door my legs giving out.
"Argent. Chris," I begged "Please don't do this," He trembled when he heard me but didn't take his focus off of Derek.
Derek's nose started to bleed black. Argent paused as Derek collapsed. I crawled forward as Argent slumped backward in relief "Derek? Derek!" I called for him. I placed his head on my lap running my fingers through his hair "Wake up!" His eyes blinked open slowly after a minute. I sobbed. Before I thought it through I had my lips pressed to his. His hand slowly came to cradle the back of my head. I finally broke away after realizing we still needed to breathe. He smiled at me exhausted closing his eyes again for a minute. I ran my hands through his hair again hoping it would soothe him.
"What happened?" I demanded while looking at Argent. I eyed his gun which was too close for my liking. He put his hands up in surrender and kicked his gun away from him.
"I don't know, he came here saying he needed to show me something. Then tied me to the chair and covered me in gasoline. He was acting like he was possessed," I looked down in concern at Derek who started to get up. I scrambled to my feet almost losing balance to help him up.
"Are you okay?" I asked as I looked up at him.
"Yeah," He told me putting his arm over my shoulders and drawing me towards him in a hug "Yeah," I kept my hand fisted in his shirt ready to catch him if he fell, he tensed "Where the hell were you last night?" He asked. Chris leaned against his desk and looked at me suspiciously.
"What?" I asked blanking for a moment.
"One second we were fighting the Oni the next thing we know is they disappeared and you and Stiles were gone,"
"Oh, he got stabbed so I went to heal him but he pulled me into the elevator. He said it was so I wouldn't get hurt and then once I healed him he just completely changed in front of me," I told him. Derek still looked skeptical so I continued "He locked me in the back of Sherrif Stilinksi's police cruiser, um if you see him tell him I'm sorry about the crack in the back window, I tried to break out. He pulled over when he realized I was trying to escape and…." I did not want to tell them about the living together forever talk he gave me "He said he wanted me out of the way and knocked me out. I woke up about an hour ago and walked in here to find you," I felt Derek's hands in my hair checking my scalp to see if I had any injuries. I gently reached up and removed them "I'm fine now," I assured him.
"You know how this looks right?" Argent asked me, Derek growled in warning "He's left you relatively unhurt this whole time, actively keeping you away from danger. Then he just takes you away? It looks like you're helping him,"
"I swear I'm not meaning to. He's fed off of me twice, and maybe he is stronger because of that. But, I want the real Stiles to live. I want all of you to stay alive. I'm supposed to protect people. I've been doing a crappy job, but I'm trying!" I cried. Argent looked at Derek and then nodded.
"I need to make sure my daughter is okay," He told us.
I agreed, leading the way to the elevator and making sure Derek was stable. He paused before hitting the lobby button and looked at Chris "You had a gun pointed at my head. You could've pulled the trigger. Why didn't you?"
"Because you're not my enemy anymore, Derek. And I'm not yours," He said earnestly.
"We should be out there looking for him. Right now. Especially if he can do something like this," Derek said and looked at me.
"I'm not sure that's actually going to be necessary,"
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because if he can do something like this…" Derek said.
Chris nodded "He's stronger than ever. Which means he'll be coming for us,"
I bit my lip worried, Derek finally hit the button. The door closed and I walked us back to the wall so we could both lean against it. Derek only stayed with me for a moment before he stepped forward and hit the stop button. I looked at him questioningly.
He stepped forward until he was right in front of me, I straightened up feeling small. His hands ghosted over my face, landing on the back of my neck. He firmly moved me forward and up until we were kissing again. He pushed me back into the wall and spread my legs open with his knee. I moaned against him. His mouth left mine to trail down my neck, I shuddered against him as his hands went to the waist of my jeans. He had them unbuttoned and down my legs in a second. He leaned down to pull them off.
"Derek, wait," I said.
"No!" he growled at me and continued with what he was doing. Next, he was up and parting my legs again, pumping one finger into me. I clawed his back. With his other hand, he reached between us unbuttoned his pants, and pushed them down. He left my warm heat grabbing me by my ass and lifting me to straddle his waist. He pressed us against the wall and had me on his dick in a millisecond. I cried out at the intrusion but he felt so good. His hand came back and rubbed my clit as he pumped into me. The orgasm hit me hard, my head flew back and I swore I blacked out for a second. Tears ran down my face as he slid me back down. We stood there holding onto each other for a few minutes before he pulled back to check on me.
The pads of his thumbs brushed away my tears. He leaned down and help me work my pants back up. I thought he would just turn around and hit the button again. Instead with unsteady hands he brought my face to his again and kissed me. We stayed like that for a few minutes before we finally parted. Only then did he start the elevator again.
We didn't say anything on the way down, just stayed in silence until we got to the lobby. He turned towards me "I have to take care of something, but I can drop you off at Scott's," I nodded in agreement. We were silent all the way there. When I went to leave the car I hesitated and looked back at him. He leaned forward to kiss me.
"You've been threatened, gotten hurt, and almost died a lot this month," I whispered to him.
"I know, I'm sorry I keep worrying you,"
I shook my head and more tears came to my eyes "You aren't allowed to die on me," he smirked in amusement "I'm serious Der," I whispered. He became serious.
"I'll try and be more careful," He told me and brought me in for a kiss. When he started to pull away I grabbed his shirt and kissed him harder.
We finally parted and I looked him in the eye "I love you," I told him fiercely.
Scared of my own emotions, I quickly opened the car door getting out before he could say anything. He of course was not going to let that stand. He was out and around the car faster than I could close the door, pulling me to him. He had me on the hood of the car and if we weren't in public I think we would have gone another round. Instead, he kissed me deeply not letting me move away from him until we both ran out of air. He pressed his forehead to mine.
"I love you," He told me. He looked reluctant but finally went back around to his side of the car "I'll see you very soon," I nodded and made my way into Scott's house quickly wiping more tears from my eyes.
I paused in the doorway as I saw Stiles stand up from the couch. I looked over panicked at Scott who was just standing there doing nothing!
"It's me," Stiles said "Well I think it's me, the Oni will be here soon to double-check,"
"You can't do that!" I told him in concern "What if he is hiding inside of you and they kill you?"
"I'd honestly rather that than let him run around killing everyone," He told me before getting a drink of water. He looked so tired.
"Scott, even if he is himself…don't you remember how you all reacted? It took all of your energy. Stiles isn't exactly in the best shape. Can't we just hold off?"
Scott's wide eyes met mine. Clearly, he didn't think about that, he looked at Stiles who shook his head no so hard that he almost tilted over causing Scott and I to both grab him by the shoulders just in case "Doesn't matter, this is my choice," He said. I clenched my teeth so hard that it hurt. It was his choice, and I was not going to try and take that away from him if that's what he wanted. Especially since he has had no control over his life for the past few weeks.
Scott groaned out of nowhere "Arielle have you by chance listened to any of our messages?"
"Um…no my phone went missing a while ago," I told him. He then filled me in on what had happened including Lydia being taken.
"Also Isaac is awake," I jumped up.
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah he woke up, I think he's with Allison right now," at my look, he scrambled for his phone "Uh hey Isaac, Arielle's here. What? Yeah okay," I was bouncing on the balls of my feet contemplating ripping the phone from him. He hung up "He's on his way,"
I was anxious. Stiles asked me to chill out. I felt like a chihuahua with all the trembling I was doing. I heard a car in the driveway and sprinted out. He was here, he was okay. I launched myself into his arms, and he swung me around.
"Your okay!" I said through happy tears. He put me down but didn't stop hugging me "Do mom and dad know?"
"Not yet, I woke up possessed, I was only aware of it an hour ago," That was when Derek snapped out of it too I thought. "I called you but you didn't answer," he said accusingly.
"I don't know where my phone is, when I woke up it was gone," He nodded and then squeezed me again.
"Let's go see our family," He whispered. I turned to get in the car. Allie was standing with one foot in the car looking at me nervously.
"I don't hate you anymore," I told her. She tentatively smiled but still looked a little worried. Isaac seemed confused but didn't ask.
I leaped out of the car as soon as Allie braked in front of our house. I grabbed Isaac's hand dragging him out with me. He laughed, shouted goodbye to Allie, and we ran to the door together. Luckily it wasn't locked because I just realized that I did not have my keys either "Mom, Dad!" I shouted as soon as we were in the hall.
"Arielle, honey?" Called my mom from upstairs, I could hear two pairs of feet hurrying towards us "Are you alright your phone-" My mom paused as soon as she got to the bottom of the stairs causing my dad to run into her. She started bawling hysterically when she saw him "Isaac!" She cried and grabbed him into a tight bear hug that would rival any werewolf. Dad put his arms around both of them. I could hear him giving a prayer of thanks. He didn't even look in my direction just knowing where I was, grabbing me he pulled me into the hug-fest. When my mom finally released him she was still crying but she didn't let him go completely. She kept touching his hair, rubbing his back, and bringing him back in for more hugs. You could see that he was crying too.
She was trembling herself when she turned to find me, she kept one hand on his arm and reached out to hug me "Are you okay?" she asked. I confirmed. "I haven't heard from you since you were acting strange the other day, your phone keeps going straight to voicemail and then Stiles stopped by with your car,"
I apologized "I'm so sorry. It was a kind of temporary brainwashing, it made everything bad seem not important. I have no clue where my phone is but I can look in my ca-" I thought about what she just said "Stiles brought my car back?"
She pats her eyes with a handkerchief that my dad brought her "Yes, Stiles came by with it, he was so sweet. He said you were fine, just busy. We were still worried but he said you may be off-grid for a few days."
"A few days?" I asked. I looked at Isaac who was staring back at me worriedly. It definitely wasn't our Stiles who brought my car back "Um mom I have to call someone real quick, can I borrow your phone?" I asked her to distract her "It looks like Isaac requires some more hugging," I heard Isaac laugh and my mom was bawling again and hugging away. He may never be out of her sight again. I could see my dad in the kitchen making food, his ultimate way of showing love. I smiled at my family as I dialed a number.
"Deputy Parish? Sorry, Jordan, ugh anyway it's Arielle," I could hear him laugh on the other end of the line and say Jordan was fine. Then asked what he could do for me "I- I don't know if I am being paranoid or not but someone brought my car back to my house after Stiles went missing. With all of the strange stuff happening…I know you said you were experienced in these kinds of things. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind coming and checking it out?" I realized I had rambled a lot but it must have been alright because he said he was on his way.
I went back inside to grab my keys from my mom who was physically trying to not smother Isaac. He was sitting with them chopping up ingredients for my dad's egg scramble, chatting easily. I took a second to appreciate the scene and walked back out to see Jordan's police car pull up.
"You alright?" He asked as he got his duffle bag out of the trunk.
"Yeah, Isaac's out of the hospital!" I told him happily and then looked at my car "The only thing worrying me is this," I hesitated for a second "I had some time missing last night and I know I had my keys and phone on me when it happened. Then my car shows up? It's just weird,"
He stopped what was doing and grabbed a penlight before coming up to me in concern. "Okay, keep your eyes open and follow the light he instructed," I was surprised by the quick change and did as he said. He nodded and then raised his hands to my head "I'm going to feel around to see if you have any bumps or anything, okay?" I nodded. I blushed a little at him being so close but he was solely focused on making sure I wasn't hurt "Any tender spots?" He questioned.
"No, I don't think I was hit over the head or anything," Of course, I couldn't explain a magical kiss had knocked me clean out. He nodded and went back to his bag and was back with a needle "Um Parrish, sorry Jordan, not that I don't trust you…..but why?"
"I have a feeling you're going to avoid the hospital and I am going to have this tested to see if there is anything in your system," He told me seriously and swabbed my arm then had me clench a fist so he could see my vein. He had it in and out of me quickly with enough blood to test. "It's going to take a little bit to come back but I think we will both feel better once we know what happened," He told me then held up two bandaids one plain one and one with dinosaurs on them.
I looked at him trying to lift my eyebrow "Dinosaurs, obviously," I told him. He laughed placing it where he drew blood.
"Now I'm going to look at your car," He told me carefully placing the vile in a little case and then in his car. He took out a mirror on an extendable pole, I watched curiously "It's cold out," He mentioned nonchalantly "Do you want to wait inside?" I think he just didn't want me near this if it ended up being something.
"I'm alright but would it make you feel better if I left?" he chuckled and said I could stay.
"Nothing strange about the bottom of the car," He started to shine his light into the windows looking at the weather stripping and the interior. "Nothing that I can see, but why don't you unlock these car doors?" I beeped them open for him and he took his time opening each door and looking under the seats. "Everything looks okay," He told me straightening up and then plucking something out of the cupholder "There's a note though, do you care if I read it?" I hesitate knowing it could be anything but shook my head. As if I would be that obvious. "Thanks for earlier Arielle, XO," He raised his eyebrow at me. Shakily I took the note and looked at it front and back "Arielle, do I need to be worried? Should I be making a report,"
I shook my head "Probably just someone messing with me," He looked unconvinced "Thank you for coming here so quickly. Sorry that I'm being so paranoid,"
He finally smiled "I think it's smart that you were cautious considering everything that goes on here,"
"Do you want to come in for breakfast?" I asked and nodded at my house.
"I appreciate it but I'm on the clock for a few more hours. Have a good day Arielle," He said nodding, heading to his car before pausing "Let me know if something is going on alright?" I promised, waving as he left.
Walking back in I smiled at everyone sitting on the table munching on breakfast. As I sat down Isaac leaned forward "Stiles was checked by the Oni, he's just Stiles. They are going to see the Sheriff," I smiled at him and dug in. Things felt like they were getting easier.
I felt like mom had finally calmed down all the way when Isaac got a call. He went into the hall and then poked his head back in the kitchen "Hey Scott asked to meet us at his house," I nodded getting up when I felt a hand on my arm.
I turned to see mom biting her lip, worried "Are you sure you both have to go?" She asked us quietly. I looked at Isaac in surprise. I don't think my mom had ever really questioned it anytime I've gone out. "I'm used to a lot going on but Isaac, you just got out of the hospital. Arielle, you haven't been in the best shape, emotionally, for a while. Can't you let the others handle it this time?"
I knew Isaac would be the weak link in whatever was about to happen since he probably has never had an authentic parental guilt trip before. So I took the lead before he even finished processing what was said "Mom, I love you," I told her hugging her "You've raised me to be strong and to want to help people. Isaac is practically my twin so he's learning through osmosis," I grinned at Isaac who smiled back "So we are going to go do what we learned from the best. To help others," Her lip trembled but she held it together, deciding to smother us both again.
"You guys be careful," Dad warned before giving us each a very strong hug.
