Today's Special

"Don't mess with his queen, Her king is always beside her!"

~Fallinginlovwid

When Camille first came to court to be married, she knew the king did not love her. That he was only marrying her because of Mikael.

But she did have expectations.

Expectations that she shattered.

"Niklaus." Mikael greeted, in tone he had to force to remain respectful. "Allow me to introduce you to Lady Camille. She is the only daughter of the O'Connell family."

The man threw the curtsying women one glance, before going back to what he was looking at before.

Camille's eyes widened in surprise. Surely he knew that they were to be married?

People knew that Klaus had been the product of an affair. But because the man who his wife was cheating on him with, was the king. Mikael could do nothing but once.

As if that wasn't enough, because Ansel died without any official heirs, he left the crown to his only son.

So now, Mikael was forced to kneel in front of the boy he once had bow to him. The man swore that he would do whatever it took to ensure happiness remained out of the bastard's reach.

His biggest plan to ensure this, was this marriage. With his support, Niklaus wouldn't be able to deny O'Connell's marriage offer.

Camille followed the king's gaze to find him staring at another blond. The woman was in a pretty blue dress that brought out her stunning blue eyes, and made her pale, flawless skin look as if it was glowing in the candle light. She had a glass of champagne in her hand, and was chatting with Klaus' youngest brother, Hendrick.

She turned back to the king, and saw a small fond smile on his face, as he stared at the women. His fingers itching to capture the scene eternally in paint.

Mikael growled and pulled Camille aside. He tugged on her arm harshly. "That is Caroline Forbes." He informed her. "She had been by Niklaus' side since they were children. She is the only heir to the Forbes family fortune." Mikael growled out the king's name, resisting the urge to call him a bastard here. "She will be your biggest competition, even once you are married. Just keep reminding her of her place."

Despite being one of the most successful merchants. The Forbes weren't noble, and thus their marriage wouldn't be approved by the council. So Camille wasn't too worried.

Over the years, Mikael kept trying to push her to remind Caroline of her place. But no matter how hard she tried, nothing worked.

Caroline had thrice the amount of guard assigned to protect her with their life, then Camille ever did.

Caroline was the one who always shared the opening dance with Klaus. Correction, she was his partner in all his dances. He refused to even dance with her at their wedding.

It was always Caroline who sat at his side, during meetings, well Camille was pushed aside like a maid.

Her only solace was that the people talked. They called Caroline the King's mistress, his whore. Her reputation was in tatters.

But Caroline's influence was spreading quickly. She had already won over all the palace maids and guards, and during the balls, even the noble's began slowly accepting her into their fold.

Camille was sure that it was only because she hung herself on the king's arm, but as she watched a genuine smile spread across Lord Salvatore's face at her sight or how Lady Branson embraced Caroline in a hug. She realized that Caroline was truly making her presence in the court known.

She knew that she needed to do something to secure her place quickly.

She needed an heir.

Three months later, the news that the king was having a child joyously spread throughout the land.

But it wasn't Camille the people were praying for at night.

It wasn't Camille who's guard doubled.

It wasn't Camille who was receiving well wishes.

It was Caroline.

Camille felt the fan in her hand snap under all her anger as she watched in envy as Klaus lovely pulled out a chair, and gently helped the pregnant women sit down.

Much to Cami's relief, Caroline gave birth to a girl. She had hoped that when Klaus found out, he'd finally leave her in anger.

But instead, the king threw a nine day feast to celebrate his baby girl coming into this world. His love for Caroline didn't diminish, it only grew stronger.

Klaus had gathered the whole family for dinner that night, so everybody knew that he would be announcing something big.

Once everybody had sat down, Klaus stood up and took a step closer to Caroline. "We have great news. We are expecting another child."

Instantly chatter broke across the table.

"How long are you?"

"How do you feel?"

"Congratulations"

"You did again, huh?"

Various questions and well wishes rang through the room as everybody stood to congratulate Caroline. Everybody but Camille.

Caroline laughed, as Rebekah who kept firing off a series of questions. "I missed two of monthlies in a row, so around two months."

"Oh, that's excellent." Sage congratulated. Women tended to have the most miscarriages in the first three months, which means Caroline would only have one more months before she could relax a bit.

Camille looked down at her plate. Caroline was pregnant again. Well she, she still hadn't even shared a night with the king. He spent their wedding night in her chambers, but even then he refused to touch her.

Kol smirked, "Something wrong Camille?"

"Kol!" Bonnie, his wife, tried to shush him.

Camille looked up to see Bonnie look at her with pity. Rebekah was glaring at her, Kol smirking at her, Finn only had eyes for his wife, who was fanning over Caroline along with Klaus. Well Klaus hadn't once taken his eyes off Caroline, his hand resting gently on her stomach where a new member of the royal family was growing.

The queen was unable to take it and quickly stood up, "It's not fair!" She shouted. "People blame me for being unable to convince. But how can I give you a child? You never touch me!" Camille cried out.

"And I never will. I refuse to ever be unfaithful to Caroline." Klaus told her coldly.

Camille reels back as if she was slapped.

She knows that if Caroline gives birth to a boy, nothing can save her. Nothing will stop Klaus from stripping her of her title, and casting her aside.

He'd give Caroline the crown, and because she would be the mother of his son, his heir, there would be nothing anyone could do. There would be no title, no land, no support strong enough to argue against that. The counsel wouldn't be able to do anything to stop it even if they wanted to. As if Caroline hadn't already won over more than half of it.

'I need to keep her crown.' Camille thought, glaring at Caroline's stomach. 'No matter what!'

Katerina had an annoyed look on her face when Camille called her in, something the queen knew she openly showed, knowing that Klaus would never let her be punished unless she did something against Caroline. A perk of being one of the pregnant women's friends.

"Why did you call me in here?" Katerina asked, straight to the point, not wanting to be in the Queen's presence longer than necessary.

Camille resisted the urge to scowl, knowing that she needed Katerina on her side. "I need you to do something for me." she smiled, "Of course you will be rewarded."

Katerina was about to say no, until she saw the glean in Camille's eyes. The queen was planning something, and she needed to know what it was, before she made any choices. "What?"

Camille smiled, thinking that Katerina was willing to see her way. "I need you to just slip something in your lady's food, for a couple of days only." she said, handing the maid a pouch.

Katerina looked inside, her eyes widened when she saw the contents. "These are sesame seeds!" she cried, outraged.

Camille narrowed her eyes, "Yes." she said, without a hint of remorse.

"You want me to kill a child?" Katerina glared, hatred evident in her eyes.

Camille raised her head higher, "It needs to go." She knew that killing Caroline would be way too risky. But the child, that is something she may be able to get away with, it's done right.

Katerina shook her head, disgusted. "You want to kill a child. For power."

"It's my right!" Camille shouted.

"No it isn't." The brunette scowled.

"She's nothing but a whore." The queen defended herself.

"No, you are." Katerina corrected her. "You came in between them. You're crazy if you believe the king would ever choose you over her."

"How dare you!" Camille shouted.

Katerina ignored her, she turned around and walked away. "I won't ever help you."

But before she could touch the handle, Camille forced herself to think with a level head, and spoke again. "Do you ever think people will accept a maid as the wife of the king's brother?" she asked. "Do this, and I will make you my lady in waiting."

Katerina scoffed, "You're crazy if you think that's something I want. I'll always rather be Caroline's friend, than your dog."

"I've had you beheaded." Camille threatened.

Katerina began laughing out loud. "Oh, you think Klaus will ever allow that? Especially when Caroline's so close to giving birth. Klaus would never take anyone of Caroline's friends away from her. Knowing that she'd never forgive him."

Before Katerina leaves, she glances behind her once more time, "Oh, and I know Elijah will always love a loyal maid, but never even so much as look at a traitorous bitch."

As Katerina walked outside, she stopped in front of one of Camille's ladies in waiting. "Oh , and Hayley. Stay away from my man. Or I'll have you beheaded for the jewels you tried to steal from the castle."

Camille glanced across the table where Klaus was gently holding Caroline, her pregnant belly fully on display. "A wonderful feast my dear." He complimented her.

Camille's teeth clenched in anger, she had to bite her tongue to prevent herself from shouting out in outrage. Once again, Klaus had given her power to Caroline. Giving the pregnant women all control over the feast and its preparations. "Now what is your request? Even to half my kingdom it shall be granted."

The so-called queen flinched, knowing that Klaus truly meant it. If Caroline asked for the official title of queen, Klaus would gladly pluck the grown from her head, and palace it on to Caroline's.

"If I have found favor in yours, my king, and it pleases you. Save my life!" Caroline looked up at him, her eyes lashing fluttering and tears beginning to gather in her crystal blue eyes.

Camille felt her blood freeze in her veins and fear wrap around her heart. She couldn't. In all their times in court, Caroline hadn't once truly made a move against her. She never needed to know.

She knew she had crossed a line, but surely Caroline knew that she was just doing what she had to!

"Who would dare threaten my queen's life? Who is he? Where is he?!" Klaus demanded, enraged.

"Not he, she!" Caroline corrected, pointing at Caroline.

Camille jumped to her feet and tried to back away, but instantly two pairs of arms grabbed her. She turned to see Elijah and Kol glaring at her. She tried to free herself, but they only tightened their hold. Ensuring that there would be bruises on her arms, if she lived long enough for them to form that is.

"What did she do?" Marcel asked, sympathizing with her. "I'm sure she had a reason."

A fire lit in Caroline's eyes as she glared at the head guard. "Reason? What possible reason could she have for trying to take my baby's life before they could even breathe!"

Camille stopped struggling and lowered her head.

She knew.

She knew!

SHE KNEW!

Klaus would kill her.

Women or not.

Former queen or not.

Klaus would ensure that she would have a slow and tortoise end.

Klaus fire dimed at the news, a calm, sharp, deadly anger taking its place. Scaring everyone but the women on his side.

An angry Klaus, they could deal with. But when his anger took his speech, and left nothing but a cunning predator in its place. Nothing was safe from his wrath, nothing except his mate.

Caroline gently rubbed his arm. "She tried to have Katherine slip sesame seeds into my food on a daily basis." She told him, seeing his anger, she gave a firm squeeze, "Of course she wouldn't agree to that. She came and told me at once. She's more than ready to witness in court."

"That isn't necessary." Klaus told her, gently running his thumb across her cheek. He turned to Camille, finally acknowledging her presence since Caroline had spoken. "Will you dishonor my Queen here? In my house!"

Klaus wrapped his arms around Caroline, one hand gently resting on Caroline's stomach, to ensure that his child was still safe. "My lovely Queen, nothing nor anyone shall cause you sadness."

Klaus pulled out his blade, and walked towards Camille. The sound of the unsheathing sent a stab of fear in her heart and her legs gave way and she fell to the ground. Elijah and Kol doing nothing to stop her from the fall or her knees touching the cold stone ground.

Klaus raised Camille's head using the tip of his blade, he forced the kneeling women to see the world around her from the ground.

Finn was trying to calm his wife, Sage down, the angry women looking down right murderous.

Rebekah and Hendrick were sending her disgusted looks, the youngest Mikaelsons both standing at Caroline's side.

Well Caroline looked regal, her hair surrounding her head like a golden halo, and her hands gently resting on her stomach. She glared down at Camille was a justified enraged expression, and a hint of pity.

"Camille for the crime of hurting my queen, and our child, you will suffer. By the time I'm done with you, you will be begging for the mercy of death." Klaus promised her.

Klaus was right.

By the time the day of her execution came, Camille was thankful. She wanted this to be over. She was starved, beaten.

But what was the worst was the looks people gave her. Klaus had chosen to publicly make a show of her, of what happens if you touch Caroline.

If the women who were once Queen could fall, then what chance did they stand?

He made her walk through the villages and streets in rags, barefoot publicly announcing her crime and execution.

She did receive many pitying looks, but those instantly disappeared once they heard her crime.

Camille lived long enough to hear the kingdom's joys as news that Caroline gave birth to a healthy baby boy spread across the land.

As a result, she was officially stripped of her title, and her rank; as if she had any truly to begin with, and forced to walk to the guillotine in shame.

She had rotten food and fruits thrown towards her on the walk, as names that the people once called Caroline, were now directed at her.

As Camille stared up towards where the royal family was sitting, she once again saw Caroline sitting next to the king. Her newborn son cradled in her arms.

She knew she had no one else to blame, other than herself.

She laughed and realized that Mikael was completely wrong.

There was no competition.

She was a fool to think that there was any competition to begin with.

There would be no way that Klaus would ever choose her over Caroline.

She knew she had no one else to blame other than herself for ever thinking she could get between the king and his queen.

As the guillotine was falling on Camille's head, a crown was falling onto Caroline's.

Someone on requested I have Cami bashing in the second version, something I was more than happy to provide, so here it is. I know Caroline wasn't the official queen for most of the chapter, but she was the one Klaus treated like his queen.

It was weird writing from Cami's perspective. Well, at least in the end she realized that she can't compete with Caroline.

I know you kind of wanna sympathize with her because it's from her perspective. But in my eyes, it's her fault. She's the one who tried to get in between Klaroline.

Also, another reason why I love Caroline a trillion times more than Cami (There is no competition) The Originals season 5 episode 1, Caroline isn't afraid to put Klaus in his place. She called him out and told him to stop using Mikael as an excuse to be a bad father to Hope. Well Clammy only continued to excuse his actions because of his 'daddy issues'. Is this level of hate toxic? Maybe. It's just how I feel. I can't stand her. She just annoys me to no end. I understand that some people may not agree with me, I completely get that. This is just my opinion.

(^This is nothing against Leah (Cami's actress) - I've seen her interview - she's sweet and fun. I just CAN'T stand the character she plays.)

On a whole other note (yet on the same page - let's call it a footnote);

Here's a little Bio lesson because I find it kind of (Read: really) ironic that men in the old times were such asses to their wife's because they couldn't have sons. Not realizing that the women are always gonna give an X chromosome. So it's the sperm that decides if the child will be male or female by passing along an X or Y chromosome. So it's technically actually the guys fault, not the girls.

Anyways,

KLAROLINE FOR LIFE BECAUSE I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!
