"Hayley! You're alive?" Caroline asked, surprised. She had come back to check on Hayley, she had a bag of blood in her hand. Well talking with Elijah, she had realized that since the mother and baby were sharing blood, Hayley would come back a hybrid.
The transitioning women snatched the blood bag from Caroline and drained it dry in a matter of seconds. "It didn't work," Hayley snapped.
Caroline looked down in thought, "You're likely going to need the baby's blood to complete the transition." She said sadly. It was bad enough the newborn was being put through this. But now, others, even if they weren't Klaus, will try to do to that baby what Damon had done to her; turn her into a blood bag. She despised the thought of anyone else, especially a child, going through what had happened to her.
"Then let's go." Hayley rolled her eyes at the vampire. "I need to find my daughter so I can complete the transition." Then, what she said next, made the baby vampire's vision turn red in anger. "Then we can break the curse on the Crescents, using her blood by turning them all into hybrids."
"Is that all you care about!" The blond shouted, her fangs dropping. "Your first priority should be finding your daughter to insure that she is safe. Not so you can cover your own ass and then use her to get what you want."
"They are my family. My pack." Hayley tries to defend herself.
"Maybe. But she's your daughter." Caroline spits at her.
"They are her pack too." Hayley says, as if it would justify what she is about to do. "It's her responsibility to help them anyway she can."
Caroline's eyes widened in surprise at what the newborn hybrid was saying, before her anger returned, full force. "She's a baby!" She's not responsible for anything. I don't think you understand how this mothering thing works. You're supposed to protect your child, not use her like a tool."
"Please, Klaus would do the same." Hayley said, as if she was just copying the coffee order of the person in front of her.
"No he wouldn't." Caroline says, defending the original, who she had slowly seen welcome the idea of a child. He may not have been excited initially, but he had definitely warmed up to the idea. "You have no right to take her away from her father."
"Please," The hybrid rolled her eyes, "you don't know what you're talking about. I gave birth to her. I gave birth to the tribrid. So it's my decision. You aren't her mother no matter how much Klaus may indulge your fantasies."
Caroline flinched back as she remembered all the shopping trips for the newest Mikaelson she went on Rebekah, and the baby books that she read with Elijah, and painting the nursery with Klaus.
The vampire swallowed, trying to wet her dry mouth, before speaking. "You're right. I'm not. But I know enough to say that your first priority should be keeping her safe. Not trying to take her away from her father for your own selfish agenda."
Hayley, unable to take the criticism anymore, lunged at Caroline, her hybrid face fully displayed. "How the hell do you get to have everything and I can't even get one thing I want!"
Caroline stepped to the side and let her fall to the ground, and pinned her down before she could rise again, her own vampire emerged, more than ready to take on Hayley's. "Maybe because I didn't ask to use my own baby as a blood bank."
Hayley craned her neck forward and latched her fangs on the vampire's list, and began pumping in as much venom as she could.
Caroline tore Hayley's fangs away with a grimace, and quickly knocked Hayley's head against the concrete a couple times, making sure to give her a good conclusion.
Hayley began chuckling through the ringing, thinking she had succeeded, and this was Caroline's final stand; but to her surprise, Caroline's arm healed perfectly, without a hint of venom in sight.
"I-I don't get it?" The hybrid asked, confused. "I haven't seen you drink Klaus' blood in the past three hours. How are you fine?"
Caroline smirked, "The perks of blood sharing. His blood's already circulating in mine. The longer a pair blood shairs, the longer the effects reside in each other. Our blood is slowly becoming one in the same. We've been blood sharing since I got here. So currently, my blood can act like a cure for a week."
Caroline then dug her hand through Hayley's chest, and grabbed her heart. She didn't waste her time with any speeches, recognizing that Hayley wouldn't ever change. But before she could pull her hand back out, along with Hayley's hand; a hand grabbed her elbow, stopping her.
She looked up to see Elijah glaring down at her. "What are you doing?" He demanded.
"She wants to use Klaus' daughter as a blood bag to break her pack's curse." Caroline answered harshly.
She saw the man's eyes widen in horror, but she could still see the internal battle that was taking place as well.
So she decided to help him out.
Because he may have feelings for Hayley, but he'll never love anyone the way he loved Katherine Pierce.
"Katherine's currently in California." She told him. "But you knew that already didn't you?"
"I do." Elijah admitted.
"Then go to her." Caroline told him.
"But Klaus-"
"I handle him. Katherine helped me out when she came to Whitmore. I owe her one. Plus, I never minded that I became a vampire. She helped unintentionally in that way as well. So go. I'll get her freedom." The baby vampire told him.
Elijah knew she had quite a hold over Klaus, but enough for Katherine?
"Are you sure you can?" He questioned.
Caroline smirked, "3 hours of playing house with me, and he'll be tied to my apron strings. Trust me."
Elijah breathed in deeply, "I let you kill Hayley, and Katherine get's her freedom?" He asked, refusing to look down when he heard Hayley gasp and see her desperately pleading face.
Caroline nodded.
When Elijah turned away, Hayley began screaming, "No! You're supposed to love me! Not the bitch that ruined my life!"
Elijah's fists tightened in anger at Hayley's word, Katherine was not to blame for Hayley's actions. She was the one who got herself into this mess. Not his Katerina.
Unwilling to hear Hayley whine anymore, Caroline yanked Hayley's heart and let her body drop to the ground without a care. She then turned to Elijah, "Let's go. We still need to find the witches."
Later that night, after Caroline helps Klaus put his newborn into bed, she decides to bring up Hayley. She didn't want to start keeping secrets from him so early into their relationship.
Since they came to New Orleans, Klaus hadn't kept anything from her, and she wants to do the same.
"I killed Hayley." Caroline confessed, deciding to just rip the bandaid off.
Klaus raised an eyebrow, "No you didn't. The witches killed her. You had nothing to do with it."
Caroline nodded, "She did die, with the baby's blood circulating through her body."
Klaus' eyes widened, "She's still alive."
"No," Caroline shook her head. "She's dead. I killed her."
Klaus stayed quiet, but gently clasped her hands in his as she struggled to form the words. "Hayley… She's a traitor. How could we ever trust someone like her again? I know I couldn't. She admitted that she was planning on finishing the transition then running away with her daughter, intending to use her as a blood bag just so she could break the curse on her pack."
Klaus' eyes turned a bright gold as he threw a quick glance at his sleeping daughter; and Caroline's eyes welled up with tears, "Are you mad?" She asks.
Klaus nodded, "At myself, yes." He admitted, when Caroline looked up at him, confused, he gently wiped away her tears with his thumb and explained himself. "You shouldn't have needed to dirty your hands with Hayley. I should have taken care of it."
Caroline shakes her head, "I know you would have killed Hayley, that's one of the reasons I choose to do it." She admitted. "You shouldn't have to tell your daughter, when she asks about her mother one day, because she will, that you killed her."
Klaus smiles, knowing that she could be covered in blood, yet she would never lose her humanity. It was that very light, that attracted her to him. And he knew he'd want to spend entirety basking in it, knowing with confidence that it would never dim.
He couldn't help but bring her to a kiss, surprising her. But as soon as the initial shock wore off, her lips glided against hers just as softly.
"I won't have to ever tell her that. Because Hayley wouldn't be her mother, you would." He told her.
Caroline flinched as Hayley's words rang in her ears. "But I won't be." She said, pulling away.
Klaus, to her surprise, knelt down on his knees and clasped her hands, "But you can be. Marry me."
Caroline could see the hope in his eyes, he was being vulnerable. He had always considered marriage a human tradition, one that he left behind centuries ago.
So him asking her this…
Caroline nodded, smiling. "I will."
Klaus then stood up and led her to his office. Caroline was confused, but followed him anyway. Once they reached his desk, he opened a drawer and pulled out a folder.
He silently handed them to Caroline and smiled as he watched the asment appear on her face.
"These are adoption papers." The baby vampire said, finally looking up.
Klaus nodded, "I always intended to ask you to help me raise her. I knew we couldn't trust Hayley after she tried to abort my daughter."
Caroline nodded, understanding what he ment. She looked down at the papers and asked, "What are we going to name her?" She asked.
"Elizabeth. Elizabeth Rebekah Mikaelson." Klaus answered.
Caroline smiled tearfully at the reminder of her mother, "I'd like that."
Once all the paperwork was filled out, Klaus pulled Caroline's back close to his chest. "You know, I'm surprised Elijah let you kill Hayley." He commented.
"Well…" Caroline began as she fiddled with his fingers. "I made him a deal."
"What deal?"
"I agreed to gain Katherine her freedom." Caroline began, but was instantly cut off by Klaus.
"No." The hybrid answered firmly.
Caroline spun around, "I made a deal and I intend to keep it."
"I am not giving her, her freedom." The hybrid answered.
Caroline pulled him down by his necklaces as her tone lowered to a sulatary level, "Well if daddy doesn't agree to let Aunti Kat go, then daddy won't be touching mommy for a VERY long time."
Klaus swallowed audibly , "Daddy's open to a negotiation, but he won't be easy."
Caroline smirked, "Oh, I think daddy will be raising the white flag soon enough. Because it's going to be nothing but short, short skirts around here from now on."
"Caroline." Klaus called, but the woman just smiled coyly before turning around and walking away with an extra sway in her hips.
The last scene was based off of a scene in The Wolf Of Wall Street. Who got it right away?
I mostly threw Elijah in there because I; A) love Kalijah - one of my favorite ships, and B) I got to write more Hayley bashing and more Caroline being a boss (She just negotiated a deal with an original in five seconds flat).
I agree, I never did think Hayley was that great of a mother (This is the woman who led her 'pack' - the hybrids, to their death).
But to be fair, I never had great expectations for her anyway. I mean, we can stan Pycho's and Killers (Klaus, Katherine, Kai), it's just I never found her that great of a character to begin with. She honestly gave me the creeps since she first appeared - you could just tell that there was something off about her. So as a result, I never really had high expectations for her.
But honestly, whoever sent me this request, thank you. It was so fun to write. You guys know I'll never turn down a good Klaroline or Hayley Bashing fanfic; and this was both, and so much fun to write. I think you may have wanted something a little darker, by the sound of your request. But I started writing and the plot just flew into this direction, and I was really happy with the end product.
Anyways,
KLAROLINE FOR LIFE BECAUSE I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!
