This will be a special chapter about giyu I hope you guys like it.
He was walking at night as the stand beside the man. His right eyes shone as red as the blood moon as the man looked at him. He begged him not to spare him as he held a woman as she can no longer move. He walks toward the demon as he unsheathes his sword.
Giyuu: "Spare you; don't make me laugh." You should know already. Begging for your life is pointless.
man: "Y-you're an Uchiha." He was shocked.
Giyuu: You can say that.
as his red eyes shone brightly at night. frightening the man as he let go of the dead body.
man: "I swear." I won't do it anymore.
Giyuu: "You have no mercy on me, demon." Not me, and definitely not the Uchiha.
The man growled as he charged at Giyuu.
Man: I said, "I won't eat anymore humans!"
Giyuu slowly walked as his sword suddenly turned to black lightning , plus his breathing style as he slowly cut the demon's head off killing him. When he finished killing the demon, his right eye started turning back to normal as it turned back into dark blue eyes. He unsheathed his sword, Until his crow came by to land on his shoulder.
crow: caaawww! Message! Message! Head to the snowy mountains! Demon hunter swordsman: caaww! They were eaten by a demon! Several hunters have been eaten! Destroy all evil demons. Destroy all evil demons.
Taisho-era northern rest point
In the northern rest point was a shop. Inside the shop was a beautiful woman with a small frame. She has black hair with purple highlighted tips tied back into a "yakai-maki" with a butterfly-shaped pin, as well as a white haori with a butterfly wing pattern.
Women: a man-eating bear?
old lady: we call it a den-deprived bear around here. And many mountain matagi hunters were eaten by
Women: no wonder... I thought the air around this rest point was rather tense.
old lady: "Dear, don't say anything bad." It's better for you to head back quickly, right?
women: yes... but I'm free for the first time in a while. And I really can't trust when it comes to buying a lot of Herbal Remedise... besides. The fact that a bear is roaming around and eating humans is very much within my sphere of work. So if there's anything you know or are selling, please tell me.
She smiled like the old lady as they were interrupted by a voice outside.
man: "You went into the mountain again, Huh!"
The woman then went to check it out as she slowly stood up.
girl: I wasn't alone; Taro was with me!
man: "But he's a dog!" Leave the avenging of Matazou to the adults!
Women: who's that young lady?
Old lady: do you mean Yae-chan? She's the daughter of Matazou the Matagi. Her father and friends died in front of her after they were attacked by the bear, and ever since then, she's been like that. And when she's not going down to the village for shopping, she always goes into the mountains for vengeance. It really breaks my heart to see her.
This saddens the woman as she looks at the young lady as she runs from the hunters.
women: eh.
Yae ran as someone behind her touched her gun on her back as she turned around with anger on her face.
yae: hey. Don't go grabbing my shirobire!!
Behind her was a man with an haft haori and an eyepatch on his left eye as he looked at her. This man is none other than Giyuu Tomioka.
Giyuu: "Yae right." I'm Tomioka Giyuu, a demon slayer. I want you to tell me everything that happened when the bear-demon attacked you.
This confuses the guards as they look at Giyuu.
Hunter One: "A demon?"... No, he got it all wrong; they got attacked by a bear.
Hunter three: What is this guy talking about?
Inside the shop, the women were laughing at Giyuu as he was playing dumb.
Hunter one: "Uhh." Are you a policeman or something?
Giyuu: "No, I'm a demon slayer."
Hunter one: a demon... Are you a political officer...?
Giyuu: No, our organization is non-political.
Guard: So, um, what's that on your waist...?
Giyuu picked up his sword from his waist as he crouched down at the guard.
Guard one: "No, no, no!"
Giyuu: Tomioka Giyuu, demon slayer...
Hunter three: Oh god, we're not getting through him...
Hunter two: should we call the police on him?
hunter one: I remember now. It's the guy who slaughtered that coal-burning family on the other side of the mountain range! They said that the suspect that was sighted near that area was wearing a half-and-half haori with an eyepatch on his left side of his eye!
Hunter three: ahhh! It's no wonder he was suspicious!
This caught Giyuu by surprise, as the hunter was panicking as to what to do with him.
Hunter two: "Ahhh!" Don't move.
Hunter one: someone grab the rope! Quick, or else he's going to kill us, aaah!
women: Tom! Io! Ka! San! Tomioka-san
This surprised him as he looked at the butterfly pin girl as she poked him in the shoulder.
Women: what a coincidence to see you here! Well, I see you still suck at talking as usual.
Giyuu: *surprise* Kochou
Shinobu: If you want, I can explain it for you, okay?
demon hunter: insect hashira' Shinobu Kochou.
Giyuu: You don't have to worry. I can handle myself.
demon hunter: "Water Hashira" Tomioka Giyuu.
Shinobu: "No, you are not handling anything." Huh! Tomioka-san, you need to put more effort into talking to people. This is why no one likes you.
He ignores her as he faces the girl.
Yae: "Uhhh, I dunno what you want, but if you want something,
but she was cut off as she collapsed. Shinobu quickly rushed to her side and examined her.
Shinobu: She has a fever. We need to let her rest somewhere. Tomioka-san, please stop fooling around and help me out.
Giyuu took a deep breath and destroyed the ropes with little effort, leaving the hunter in shock.
Giyuu: Are you sure?
Shinobu: I got on the boat already. I might as well help out. Demon extermination is our job, right.
One day ago
Giyuu still sat on the patio but was now joined by the old woman. Shinobu was still taking care of Yae, and the girl began to roll around in her sleep, her eyes eventually blinking open. Shinobu leaned in close to check for more potential signs of fever. Yae woke up and saw the unfamiliar face of Shinobu close to her.
Yae: waaaahh!
Giyuu heard this as he was holding a cup of tea. Yae was holding a gun as she touched her forehead, blushing.
shinobu: fufufu. Great! You seem okay now.
Yae: is this?
Shinobu: The pharmacy on the other side, Miss. You were asleep for half a day, you know? You seem very tired. After all, Matagi coop up in the mountains for days—sometimes when they're hunting. But you can't avenge anyone in that condition, okay? Now just drink this, please. It will help you get better.
She handed her a cup as Yae looked down and noticed the hot, bubbly liquid.
Yae: uhhh... what is-
Shinobu: Don't complain and drink it, please.
Yae: Ah, okay...
on the patio Giyuu looks at the growling dog in front of him as he slowly puts his hand on the dog, hoping to pet it. Instead of feeling the soft fur of the dog, he felt its sharp teeth dig into his hand. The old woman looked at him, worried, as he tried to convince the dog to stop. This made Giyuu's eye widen as he began to try and pry his hand from the dog.
Yae: Taro, stop it! Taro! I'm sorry, mister; he's usually so friendly with people.
Shinobu: Don't worry about it. Tomioka-san is that kind of person. More importantly, let me offer my condolences regarding your father. If you don't mind, I want to ask you two or three things...
Yae: to me?
Shinobu: Whatever attacked you, Yae-san, might be the work of a "demon."
Giyuu: Kochou. This is my job; I'll do the explanation.
Taro has now bitten into his hair, attempting to get to his head.
Shinobu: "No." How are you able to say that? I mean, look at you—are you aware that you're being attacked right now?
Giyuu: I'm not getting attacked; I'm just fooling around.
Shinobu: That's enough; just back off for now. Tomioka-san
Yae: it's not a demon; I don't know what you're talking about.
Shinobu: So if it really is a bear... then it's not who we're looking for, huh?
Yae: you happy now? Okay, my turn for questioning: Who are you people? And what is this about a demon—aren't they just stories to scare off children at night?
Shinobu: You're half right, but the truth is, they're pretty much real. They are intelligent, so they cleverly hide themselves. You see, they have an amazing life span. And even if you rip off their limbs and fill them with holes, they will just immediately regenerate. Their weaknesses are the sun and a special sword called a Nichirin blade. If you chop their heads off with it, they may just die. There are also people who learned special killing techniques and hunt these demons behind the public's eye. These are demon-slayers.
Yae: demon slayer...? You slaughter demons?
Shinobu: Please don't phrase it like we're executing people. We only kill evil demons.
but everything went silent as she had a bit of venom in her mouth.
Shinobu: If a demon who has never once eaten a human and chooses to starve itself to death exists, I will take it in. And I will give them my cherished love until I die.
Everything stopped as her venom was gone, as she looked at Yae.
shinobu: But it looks like we were wrong on this one. If you don't mind, do you want us to help you hunt that bear, Yae-chan?
Yae stood up and put on her coat. She picked up her gun, strapped it to her back, and exited the room.
Yae: … I'm a Matagi. I'll do my own avenging. Thanks for taking care of me.
Shinobu: hey! You still need to rest!
She left the house. But Giyuu then stood up and walked in front of her, stopping her from moving further.
Giyuu: It's safer not to walk around at night.
Yae: there ain't no demon here. Is it that wrong for a matagi to go shoot a pest down?
Giyuu: Why are you going alone into the mountain just to get revenge?
in the house. Shinobu looked out at Giyuu as her eyes widened.
Giyuu: Why are you hiding from us? Why are you so driven for revenge?
This angered Yae as she looked at Giyuu.
Yae: just shut up! How the hell do you know how it feels to be driven by revenge...? or how it feels to lose everything you love! Thanks to that damn bear, I lost my home, my family. So how in hell do you care if I get driven by it?
Giyuu: Because revenge will lead to more pain than good. It won't help you find happiness; all it can give you is sadness. All you have is despair. It won't lead you anywhere. Trust me, I've been there. I've been down that path longer than anyone, until the darkness took me completely. So if you go, then you will lose your path as well.
Shinobu watched him speechless, she never seen him like this to anyone, even the other hashira's. But she's understand what it means to have revenge, so she kept quiet.
Yae: if that's the path I'll be taking. then so be it. Nothing will stop me from getting revenge.
As she walk away leaving Giyuu and Shinobu behind to think, as Giyuu memories came to him, a memory he will never forget.
flash back
In the water fall near Urokodaki hub, a boy with peach-colored hair was arguing with Giyuu as he was pushed to the ground. The peach-haired boy grabs Giyuu's haori, telling him to snap out of it, as the girl with the flower haori watches them from above, telling them to stop.
boy: if you don't come to your senses then I just have to force you to snap out of it!
Giyuu: Just shut up for once. How the hell do you know about it? It's not like you ever had a family in the first place. You were on your own right from the beginning; what makes you think about that? huh! I'm suffering now because I have those ties. How on earth could you possibly understand how it feels all that?
Giyuu pushed the peach-boy back, punching him. The girl saw this as she begged for them to stop, but he didn't listen as Giyuu stepped back.
Giyuu: Why, Sabito, why would you go so far from me.
Sabito: Because you're my friend, you idiot. That's why I do anything I can to stop you from doing it alone. I'll do anything to go this far for my friends to stop them from going into the darkness, and bring them happiness. So stop doubting yourself and snap out of it you dumbass.
flashback end
Giyuu: ( "He and Mokomo were the ones who snapped me out of my senses, but can I ever redeem myself?" "Can I ever make the mistake I made back then?" Without them, I'm lost; I can no longer have my happiness, not without them.)
After a few minutes of sitting in silence, Shinobu looked at Giyuu to see why he cared so much for Yae's safety from getting revenge.
Shinobu: (is this why he never talks to anyone? How he was driven by revenge and went toward the darkness Is this the path I'll be taking once I kill "him"? No, don't say that; think of a way to save Yae-san).
Shinobu stood up as she made up her own mind.
Shinobu: Tomioka-san, please wait here for a moment.
She walked back into the room to go change, leaving Giyuu behind.
a few minutes later
Giyuu stayed seated on the patio as he prepared his kunai while waiting for Shinobu.
Giyuu: "Den-Deprived?"
Shinobu: bears who aren't able to go into hibernation because they can't find a den. Sorrowful beasts who have no home or family and prowl alone in the winter mountains
She emerged from the room. She had changed into her uniform and now had her blade attached to her hip.
Shinobu: If we leave her alone, she won't be saved.
in the mountains
The two slayers had ventured a decent distance into the mountain, following the trail Yae had left behind. They left a good distance between them, hoping to not tip the hunter off. They continued to follow behind silently. Yae had moved fast, most likely due to her following Taro and having good knowledge of the area.
Both slayers stopped when they heard barking in the distance. Barking was aggressive and constant until it suddenly went silent.
Shinobu: We need to hurry before she gets hurt, or worse, killed.
He nodded as the two ran quickly towards the source of the noise.
A few minutes had past, and the two still hadn't caught up to Yae. Until they heard the loud bang of a gun firing. The two Hashira looked at each other, as they began to move with quick speed.
The Hashiras arrived at their destination and saw a demon on top of Yae. She held her gun in front of her, which the demon had taken into its mouth. But the demon raised its hand as he was attempting to stab the girl, but it was intercepted as Giyuu sliced the arm off cleanly. The demon launched back and roared in pain, holding its stump with its opposite hand. Giyuu walked in front of Yae, creating a physical barrier between her and the demon. Shinobu arrived and knelt down next to Yae.
Shinobu: Well, look at that. What a coincidence!
Giyuu walks toward the demon as he grips his sword.
Giyuu: Kochou, take care of her.
Yae: wai...
Shinobu: Do you want me to help? I can send it to the next world with my poison.
as she unsheathes her own blade, which appears to be smaller with no sharp blade on the sword.
Yae: w...wait...!
Giyuu: What is it now? You already know this. That's a monster that can no longer be human.
Yae: a demon.
Giyuu: Just face it, Yae. He's no longer your father. He's a man-eating demon that will punish you for ruined the demon king's plan.
The demon regenerates quickly as he throws a bone blade, and Giyuu quickly halts his sword as he quickly brings it up, reflecting the attack. The demon quickly dashed toward Giyuu, as he sprouted another blade in his arm as he was attempting to cut Giyuu's neck.
but Giyuu quickly stepped back as he brought his sword in front of him, deflecting another few slashes. He slashed his sword and snapped the blade off the demon's arm. But the demon didn't hesitate as he quickly rushed at Giyuu.
but Giyuu took a deep breath, focusing. As the demon attempted to attack him, he slashed in an upward direction, severing its arm again. The demon once again stepped back and roared in pain.
Giyuu thought: forth form: striking tide.
The demon fell into pieces, and its body began to turn to ash. But before the head was about to fall behind Giyuu, the demon started smiling on his face, and tears were falling from his eyes before he said his last words.
bear demon: Yae, please live.
This shocked Giyuu as he turned around to look at the remaining body as the demon turned to ash.
Giyuu:...it's over.
Shinobu: Yeah, it's finally over.
Yae took off her shoes, making Shinobu confused as to what the girl was doing, but he thought nothing of it. Her eyes then widened as Yae pointed her gun at herself, putting one of her now exposed toes on the trigger.
Yae: I can finally be at peace.
Giyuu: Kochou! Stop her!
Shinobu ran as fast as she could to stop Yae.
Shinobu thought, "Damn it, I won't make it in time."
Yae placed pressure on the trigger, and the gun clicked. Yae closed her eyes, and tears began to flow. Shinobu came crashing down on top of her as the gun went flying.
Yae: why now? of all times. I've been taking care of it. Just let me die.
Shinobu: Yae-san.
Giyuu arrived on the scene as he watched the sadness in her eyes.
Yae: Dad is a man-eating demon. Taro and everyone are gone, even my house. You people don't understand anything. Just leave me alone already. I'm nothing.
Giyuu and Shinobu stood silent for a moment, looking at the young girl, who was now crying harder. Before Giyuu started to speak,
Giyuu: his message. It was likely for you. His last word was for you to keep on living.
Yae: what the?
Giyuu: I don't care about your grumbling over demons. It's got nothing to do with me. But to cherish the memory you have back then and keep going forward.
Shinobu: Tomioka-san.
Giyuu: don't forget Kochou. We're Hashira.
He finished as he walked towards the town. As he left. Shinobu stood next to the girl for a moment with a sad expression, as she knelt down next to her in an effort to comfort her.
Shinobu: Yae-san, please just bear with your feelings. That's... how we pulled through as well. Tomioka-san maybe cold towards others, but he will never change how you are feeling.
She then ran off to catch up with Giyuu. Leaving Yae behind to think.
Giyuu flashback
Giyuu kneeled as he still wore the eyepatch on the left side of his eye. In front of him was Urokodaki, who stared back at him wearing his usual Tengu mask.
Urokodaki: The Breath of Water is a technique that can adapt to all kinds of attacks. But to master it, you need to have the heart to always keep your breathing steady. Think of your heart as the surface. If you wish to become the strongest demon slayer, if you want to become a Hashira, you must follow these step.
As Urokodaki Finnish his lecture he started to face Giyuu.
Urokodaki: Giyuu, you must promise me that you will never take that eyepatch off, as well showing your Sharingon to the other demon slayers. Your sharingon maybe strong, but there's a time you have hide it from the corps. If you show it to them, they will suspect you as a demon and try to kill you. but always keep your heart steady. Keep calm and gentle, like the water's reflection.
Flashback end
In town, Giyuu and Shinobu are sitting at the food restaurant; Shinobu is eating a bowl of soba while Giyuu waits for his.
Shinobu: Tomioka-San, you sure have changed.
Giyuu: How so?
Shinobu: "Hmm, I can't really put it into words; I always thought you were cold to the bone, Tomioka-san.
Giyuu: the bone?
Shinobu: But your words are back at the house and also back at the mountain. You were worried about her in your own way, huh? You can tell me what you really think. Did something happen that made you change your heart?
Giyuu: ("That boy?" The boy whose family was slaughtered by demons And whose sole survived sister, who got turned into a one? Did I make the right decision back then? I have always wonder: Was it fate that I met them, or was it uneditable?)
On the mountain, he looks at the boy and his sole survivor sister as he grips his sword.
boy: Nezuko is different. She will never eat a human.
Giyuu: … Even if something does happen, my heart will never waver. We are the nine strongest swordsmen in our organization. That is why we will never forget. Who we wield our swords for, and who we are protecting There are things that must be supported. So the hashira must be like the hashira.
Shinobu: … That's quite a befuddling statement. But you seem to be living a hard life, so that's good.
Giyuu was sipping his cup as he was lost in thought.
Giyuu: ( "I will never waver." I will never be driven by revenge, never again. I lost so much; I lost my path toward the darkness and was driven by sorrow. What more can it take from me? What more can it take to make the mistake I made back then? How can I change when I've lost so many people that I cared, die in front of me? Even though they want me to keep going forward and forget the past, it will never be the same without them).
He looked at Shinobu with a bit of sadness in his eyes, as she was still eating her bowl. He wanted to protect everyone, including her. But because of his eyes, he is targeted by demons, including Muzan. That is why he must keep his distance away from others, including the Hashira. as his elder sister once told him.
... (your eyes are special Giyuu, never forget that)...
It hurts him more than anyone, as his sister is smiling and telling him how special he is, even if he doesn't consider it to be one. He must keep his emotions to himself. as the man interrupts him in his thoughts.
Man: Okay, here's your salmon daikon.
The man gave the bowl to Giyuu making him smile a bit, making Shinobu a little curious.
Shinobu: Wow, that's looking good. Tomioka-san, you really like salmon daikon, huh?
This made Giyuu slam the table as he grabbed the food and looked away.
Shinobu: what. No, this is the first time I see you smile, Tomioka-San. Uhh, can you at least turn the other way and not face me?
