"So… when you fell through the veil you met Lily… but at the same time this… Alicorn… claimed that Lily was but a fragment of her that she created… due to boredom."
If one were to look at the scene before them they would find what appeared to be a tawny haired unicorn with golden eyes, with a rather ragged appearance, pacing back and forth as they spoke. Standing nearby and nodding their head absently was a black haired unicorn with silver eyes who was keeping an eye on their third companion who, unlike the others, wasn't a unicorn.
No, instead of seemingly being a unicorn this third individual was actually a silvery alicorn with a black mane and emerald green eyes, who was rather busy staring into nothingness as they attempted to figure out what was wrong with their life.
"When Lily took the killing curse, instead of killing her, scrambled her memories of whatever time she spent with humans… only to remember upon you falling through the veil and crashing on her coffee table in the space between dimensions?"
At this the tawny unicorn looked up at their companion who continued to nod as they watched their third companion, who the tawny now noticed was sporting a snowy owl on their head with a rather smug expression and what appeared to be a trunk on the ground. For a moment he himself couldn't help but stare at the scene before going back to pacing like the newly appeared owl and trunk were nothing to worry about.
"When this happened she explained to you that she was unable to really help due to her own duties amongst other things… and decided that it would be a good idea to send you to the world she originally came from."
By this time the black furred unicorn was seemingly waving their hoof in front of the alicorn in hopes of getting a response, worry appearing on their face as the tawny unicorn continued to pace. This in turn caused the black one to tilt their head in confusion before glancing back at their friend and shrugging in response. "Correct so far, Moony."
"Right… at the same time she decided to influence our pup to rush into the veil… and when I tried to stop him ended up being dragged along for the ride… all while writing a letter for not only Harry… but his older sisters."
The now named Moony stopped pacing as he glanced back towards the other two and took notice that his friend was now poking the possibly catatonic alicorn with a stick. At this point the snowy owl had seemingly settled in and was preening her perches mane with a semi-exasperated air around her, the other half being resigned.
Upon seeing this the tawny unicorn let out a huff and trotted on over before grabbing the stick out of the black furred one's hoove, how they were doing this without fingers was unknown. In response the still unnamed unicorn let out a nervous chuckle as they sat on their hunches and rubbed the back of their neck.
"Still correct… though from what she told me they're actually his two-third sisters due to James being the descendant of her original husband."
At this Moony let out an exasperated sigh before glancing at the trunk with a semi-concerned look on his face.
"There's also the fact that our pup's sisters are responsible for the rising and the setting of the sun and moon… while at the same time are technically the Princesses, with a capital P, and thus in charge of the government…"
A heavy silence settled upon the clearing that the three pony's and one owl were currently in as the two unicorns looked at each other. As one they turned toward the lone alicorn with the owl still perched on his head, who by now seemed to be looking downwards in concern to its still possibly catatonic perch.
"This in turn means that our pup… not only due to the fact that they're technically related to the two of them, but also because their an alicorn as well… is technically royalty."
This line seemed to bring life back to their last companion as they twitched, once, twice, three times before standing abruptly up, startling the owl on his head, and speaking. "No! No, no, no, and no! I don't care if they are family, I'm not going to be in the spotlight again, no way in bucking hell… and what the hay did I just say?"
At this Harry went crossed eyed as he attempted to stare at his own muzzle in confusion, the two unicorns and lone owl also staring in confusion before the black one spoke. "Alrighty then… that's… strange and rather STUPIFY!"
Abruptly there was a red light in the clearing that impacted the silvery alicon, who let out a startled yelp, before passing out on the ground. Slowly Moony turned his head from the unconscious alicorn towards the black furred unicorn with a blank face.
"Really Padfoot?"
The now named Padfoot, finally a name, simply chuckled nervously as they stood up on all four hooves, rather shakily, before speaking. "What, we both know he would stay away until his luck struck, causing who knows how much trouble, this way we can just skip ahead and be done with it."
Moony continued to stare at his friend for a moment before letting out another sigh and shaking his head. "Right… grab that trunk and put a shrinking charm on it, I'll put a disillumination charm on his wings and we can drag him towards his sister's castle, Canterlot I think."
It was rather strange none of the pony's really bothered the two as they dragged their charge onto the train unless it was to ask why they didn't just levitate him, or why he was unconscious in the first place. A rather quick story about how levitation didn't quite agree with their charge and the fact that he had a rather rough few nights that they took a potion and they were not questioned any more, strangely none of them asked about the snowy owl that was still following them.
The screeching of the train could be heard as it came to a stop inside the Canterlot train station and many ponies continued to move without care. Unfortunately somepony had noticed this and had momentarily paused in her talks in day court to look in its general direction.
The reason for this, she had felt something rather powerful crossing the city wards, something with the tint of Alicorn magic. That more than anything was quite worrying but she didn't let said worry show and instead decided to end court early.
We now move back to our favorite group of ponies and one owl as they got off the train with the one known as Padfoot carrying the disguised Alicorn on his back. Moony on the other hand, hoof, either one really, was currently puzzling himself with the fact that their money had been changed into the local equivalent.
The owl was currently on the tawny unicorns back and looking around amusedly but kept making glances towards her master. She had witnessed how the two had hit him twice more with stunners on the train ride over and had some minor worry about it.
That being said even the snowy agreed with both Unicorns that it was best that the young alicorn was taken to his sisters before something happened to them.
"Hey Moony, how exactly do you think we're going to get our pup's sister's attention?"
Moony snapped out of his musing to regard Padfoot for a moment before turning to regard the castle not too far off from them. He hummed for a moment before gesturing for the other to follow as they trotted away from the station.
"Honestly I have no clue, make some sort of commotion or something? No, that could cause something bad to happen and it's probably best if we try to stay discreet for the time being."
"Unless of course, you have something else in mind, Padfoot?"
Said silvery eyed pony tilted his head to the side for a moment as he stood next to his pseudo-brother and let out a hum.
"Not really, I'm mostly hoping that Potter Luck will at the very least give us a break and help out somehow. Then again it does love messing with the best of plans and making everything suddenly go furball so I'm not holding my breath on it."
The golden eyed Unicorn grimaced as he momentarily remembered that very fact before forcibly pushing those set of memories out of his mind. Indeed he could remember what his pup's father's luck was like and if anything it seemed like the young Alicorn's luck was even worse than that.
Though now that it had entered his mind Moony instantly narrowed his eyes as he cast another glance at the castle before looking back at his friend and honorary-nephew. His thoughts then caused him to turn his head around to glance at the owl on his back who let out a quick bark and tilted her head to regard him curiously.
A minute later he shook his head in negative and started to mutter under his breath as more and more thoughts ran through it. He then suddenly blinked and turned his head aside to look at a news stand that showed a news article.
One that was apparently announcing the return of the long lost Princess Luna after her 1000 year exile to the moon. Instinctively Padfoot came closer and also regarded the paper, which was amusingly in color, before both turned to look at each other.
Both blinked before looking back at the castle and slowly smiling as something amusing entered both their minds at once.
"Moony."
"Yes Pafoot?"
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Maybe, maybe… we need to rent a hotel room tonight."
"I'll give you Harry then, Hedwig can guide me there after I make some purchases."
"Looks like the Marauders are up to something big then."
"Indeed, they are."
Both looked at each other with amusement and a few minutes later they were walking in opposite directions. Amusingly if they had waited just a few seconds longer they would have witnessed a white furred Alicorn walk by with a flowing mane that looked remarkably similar to that of a rainbow.
-|:-:|- Two Days Later -|:-:|-
"GUARDS! LOCK DOWN THE PALACE IMMEDIATELY! NO PONY IN OR OUT!"
Many a guards had immediately jumped at the surprised shout and rushed to carry out their orders. Simultaneously they couldn't help but worry what in the name of Harmony had managed to scare their Princess so thoroughly.
None had noticed how one of their own had seemingly stiffened before slipping into the mess that was happening. Nor did any of them realize that said guard had seemingly appeared out of mid air in a shimmer.
Said guard however was mentally cursing the stupidity of their current plan as it was only just now that they had realized how dumb it was. Then again it was probably Potter Luck striking at the worst moment as somehow in the confusion he had ended up being picked up by a hysterical Alicorn and shaken around while she shouted.
"SOMEPONY HAS DARED TO SAY THEY HAVE PLANNED TO PONYNAP MY BELOVED SISTER! I HAVE JUST GOTTEN HER BACK AFTER 1000 YEARS AND I REFUSE TO LET SUCH A THING HAPPEN!"
Some more shaking around later and the guard was starting to feel rather dizzy, let's not forget almost deaph as well, before doing the one thing they could think of.
*SMACK!*
That being said the second they slapped the hysterical princess everything went quiet and he was unceremoniously dropped to the floor. Head spinning he just barely managed to get back up and spoke to the rather shocked group.
"Sor-ry… Prince-ss Cel… Celestia I, ugh… dizzy… calm do-wn, should-n't we… try and let Prin-uhh… Princess Luna knows and… post some guards around her for safety?"
Almost comically the unicorn stumbled sideways a step or two before he managed to stop and ultimately dropped back to the floor. If one looked close enough they could see actual swirls in his eyes as he tried to stop the room from spinning.
Coincidently the white Alicorn in front of him blinked for a moment as she looked down at the clearly out of it guard. A moment later and she herself blushed before carefully patting the head of the Guard in an attempt to show she was not upset with him.
"You are correct, good sir and I apologize for my rough hooving of you my little pony."
Things went back to normal soon after that and some other Guards moved to help their fallen comrade back up to all fours. One even cast a brief healing spell on the poor fellas' ears causing Celestia to blush even more in embarrassment.
That being said she instantly sent the group of three towards her sister's chambers to immediately bring her back. Five minutes later and just as she was getting ready to shout another order the purple eyed pony felt her brain stop.
"GUARDS! INTRUDER IN THE CASTLE! CHECK EVERYPONY IMMEDIATELY FOR FALSE GUARDS!"
It wasn't known to the public, or even the Royal Guards themselves, but Princess Celestia secretly made the illusion spells on all of their armor a long time ago. Said spell was quite clever as it was attuned specifically to Alicorn magic allowing her to always see who was underneath.
This was mostly a security feature as it meant that if anypony, or one, tried to impersonate said guards she would instantly know and be on guard. Of course she would also order a review of said enchantments after this was over and it would have long lasting repercussions but that is for later on.
Right now however the immediate effect was mass chaos as many Guards realize the startling truth of having been infiltrated. As for Celestia herself, she immediately took off in full gallop towards her sister's chambers, furious at the gall of those who wished to harm her family.
In truth she would not be surprised if this was some sort of secret order, or possibly a modern day group, who feared that Luna would still try to cause Eternal Night.
"Graaaah!"
Instantly she felt her head snap in another direction entirely and quickly witnessed the false guard knocking out the real Guard with him. All while another Unicorn beside him was stuffing her unconscious little sister into a sack before both stiffened.
They both looked at her, took notice of the fact that her mane seemed to have combusted into flames before quickly yelping and taking off like their lives depended on it. Absently she let out an enraged shriek and gave chase while some part of her mind wondered what the hay was up with her to get this worked up so fast.
The rest however was consumed with rage as she flew after the fleeing duo and threw blasts at them, being careful not to hit the sack on the black mane one's back. By the time the rest of the guards had managed to catch up they had to stop and gap in shock at the spectacle in front of them.
Celestia, mane and tail on fire, was chasing after what appeared to be a false guard and his accomplish threw a corridor and into the rooms around them. This would continue for a while as the duo and their cargo ran into a room and closed the door behind them, only for the Princess to be oddly courteous in her enraged state and open said door before slamming it shut behind her.
Strangely enough the duo would pop out of some other room and run into another with the purple eyed Alicorn just behind them. Wait, where did the duo find the boat, why were they using it to cross the hall, where did they even find it in the castle?
Why was Celestia chasing the boat while riding a bike, how in blazes was a boat not in water faster than her on a bike? Oh, wait there they go with the duo chasing the enraged Alicorn with all three of them oblivious to the sudden change.
The Alicorn was suddenly holding the bag and running alongside one of the duo while the other was behind them who suddenly paused in the middle of the hallway to stair. He then watched as the two came out of another room with Celestia replaced with Luna for some reason and his partner dressed in a clearly fake bear costume that had some sort of pokla-heart handkerchief poorly stitched to it, oh and he was Pegasus somehow as well, and holding a three layer cake.
Said gray coated Unicorn then shrugged before turning around and suddenly joining his companion once again running into another room. All while the white Princess chased them with the head of the bear costume on her head backwards and merrily burning.
On a side note the group of Guards realized they should be doing something but continued to stare in befuddlement at the sight. Was it their imagination or was there also some cheesy sounding fast paced music happening in the background while this was going on.
"What is going on here?"
As one the Guards turned their heads to look at Princess Luna who blinked innocently at them before peeing at the hallway.
"HAZZA! A proper chase. It has been 1000 years since I have seen such a thing!"
The next thing they knew the young blue Alicorn suddenly ran into the hall laughing and into another room. Only to come out carrying her older sister on her back who seemed oblivious to this change and continued to fire bolts of energy at the duo.
Somewhere along the way the Snowy Owl who had delivered the letter stating that they were planning on kidnapping Princess Luna had joined in. At one point the group could have sworn they saw some sort of serpent, dragon, goat headed thing with mismatched wings had run by at some point laughing like mad.
That time all four ponies and the owl were chasing said creature who had the sack this time for some reason.
Things then dissolved from there as all occupants seemed to just be running around at random with the sack randomly switching between them. Sometimes they either passed it off to one another in the hall without notice and was it just them or were the doors starting to open and close on their own?
At one point a Pink Pony happily came skipping out of one room ignoring the chaos and disappeared into another room. Absently the Guards noted that it was the Element of Laughter and it was at this moment that one of them had enough and coughed.
Que one record screeching as it abruptly stopped and the group in the hall froze in place to regard the befuddled group. There was an audible plinking sound as they all blinked in confusion before they exchanged glances.
A second later the Guards were diving out of the way as the duo ran at them with an enraged Celestia hot on their hooves closely followed by a giggling Luna. The group then gathered back together, exchanged glances, before shouting as one and following after the four determined to not be left out.
All in all it was rather humorous but as we move back to the fleeing duo we realize that the two of them were having anything but fun.
"I HATE POTTER LUCK SO VERY MUCH RIGHT NOW!"
"STOP SHOUTING PADFOOT AND RUN! SHE'S CATCHING UP ON US AND WE HAVE YET TO FIND THE OTHER THING YET!"
"COME BACK HERE YOU FOULNAPPERS!
"WHEEEE! TIZ SO MUCH FUN!"
"HALT IN THE NAME OF THE LAW EVIL DOERS!"
A maid stopped in the doorway she just opened and watched the following ponies run past her in exasperation. She would then turn around and close the door behind her hoping that if she ignored everything it would go back to normal.
Things would finally come to head however when all four groups somehow ran into a four way intersection from different directions at once. The now obvious group of Padfoot and Moony from the north, the enraged Celestia from the east, Luna from the south, and the Guards from the west.
All of them ended up in one giant pile groaning, amusingly one of Luna's hooves was sticking up and out of the pile, and coming to rest on top of said hoof calmly was the Snowy owl who gave out a bark and looked down at the group in concern.
A second later an enraged shout suddenly sent all the guards flying and a furious Celestia was staring down the quivering duo who were holding each other. Their sack was comically sitting just behind them completely undamaged and apparently letting out a soft snoring sound as the completely oblivious occupant continued to sleep.
The two quickly looked around and noticed that there was a wall of fire blocking all four hallways and they were stuck in a corner before whimpering in fear as Celestia charged up a spell. Then, just when the two were certain they were going to be very much hurt, salvation came in the sound of laughter.
The white Alicorn froze and the spell on the tip of her horn fizzled as she heard said laugh and felt something land on her back. Robotically she turned her head and took note of her happily laughing sister who looked back at her smiling and spoke.
"HUZZA! Tiz been some time since I had such fun, sister."
A brief sputtering later she turned back to the duo who were still shaking as the flames that were her mane and tail went out. Without warning however the gray furred Unicorn turned around and opened the bag to pull out its occupant while the disguised one suddenly reached into a pocket on him to pull out an item.
Luna instantly stopped laughing as both she and her sister took note of the silvery Alicorn that was plonked down in between them and the letter that was being offered with their names written on it.
"Special delivery for one Princess Celestia and Luna err… yeah one letter from your mother and a surprise little brother for the both of you?"
At this point the two felt their brains short circuit as the blue Alicorn turned to regard the unconscious silver one and the white Alicorn used her magic to take said letter and open it on reflex. The sound of paper unfolding caused the younger sister to turn her head and notice that something was definitely wrong with her.
A brief snap of her will later and the small spell that was placed on Celestia was broken as she read the letter. Said mare had felt the moment her sister broke the small spell on her but continued to read the parchment in both befuddlement and growing shock.
The white Alicorn felt the magic contained within the letter and the more she looked at it the more shocked she became. It was then that her emotions finally caught up and the mare did the only things she could in that situation.
Celestia's eyes rolled up and she unceremoniously collapsed onto the ground in dead faint. The last moment however Moony yelped and just barely managed to prevent the white Alicorn's head from hitting the ground.
Luna for her part simply blinked and looked down at her unconscious sister before looking up at the still rather shaken duo and their strange Alicorn cargo. One, she bemusedly noted, was wearing what looked like rather well made regalia that was pretty much a perfect match to her own, minus the magic and enchantments of course.
Letting out a hum she regarded the three before taking note of the new Guards coming towards them and the now recovering group who were peeling themselves off the walls and ceiling.
"GUARDS! OUR SISTER NEEDS REST AND GET THOSE WHO ARE WOUNDED TO THE INFIRMARY! OH! ALSO SECURE THE PRISONERS AND PREPARE THE LEECHES, WE NEED TO CONFIRM THE HERITAGE OF THIS ONE!"
At the end she pointed towards the lone Alicorn and almost everypony in the vicinity flinched at her use of the Royal Canterlot Voice. Strangely the two unconscious Alicorns didn't even stir from their unconsciousness and continued to softly snore in an oddly synchronous way.
"Sirius?"
"Yes Remus?"
"I blame you for this."
"... fair, I do as well."
-|:-:|- One Day Later -|:-:|-
In a remarkably short time Celestia woke up and things were sorted out with the public none-the-wiser to the events that had happened the day before.
Now both she and Luna were standing in the infirmary with the now infamous Sirius and the now revealed dark brown furred Remus. Both Unicorns had suppressor rings on their horns and at least two guards each not so far away ready to tackle them at a moments notice.
On a nearby bed sedated and with an IV attached to his right forehoof, was the infamous Harry and the cause for all this chaos. He was being looked over by at least three doctors who were furiously running a number of medical spells and tests on him.
Both Princesses however were more focused on the DNA test in front of them, after it was explained to Luna, in shock. It was apparently a 72.8% match to their own confirming that this strange unknown Alicorn actually was related to them.
"-and finally we sent you the spelled letter which was the beginning of our dumb plan to try and get your attention. You should obviously be able to figure out the rest of it from there and well… here we are."
Remus finished his admittingly long explanation while Sirius nervously shifted on his hooves and kept watch over his godfoul.
Both Princess looked up at him for a moment while behind the two one of the Guards held up the still negative enchanted object made to detect falsehoods. Seeing that it was, as previously mentioned, still negative and the proof before them the two had no choice but believe it.
"That is… certainly a hard pill to swallow Mr. Lupin… to think we have a new brother right here after all this time."
As one both Alicorns turned to regard the third one as all three doctors continued their examinations, a notable frown upon their muzzles. A moment later the two rulers turned to face the two currently prisoner Unicorns who were now wearily looking at them both.
Celestia herself regarded both for a moment before letting out a weary sigh as she thought of the ramifications of this. On the bright side it had only been two months since Luna's return so the dust was still stirred up enough that this wouldn't be too much of a shock for the Nobility.
Looking at her younger sister the Solar Diarch noted that Luna seemed to be rather giddy about no longer being the youngest.
Then again recent events have been proving that the future was going to be rather eventful so this is just as well.
Maybe give Harry, was it just Harry or was his name short for something else, he was potentially going to need a more ponyish name later on, a century or two before letting him take up any duties. Oh and he was definitely going to a proper therapist the second she could find one that could be trusted not to either faint in shock or potentially blab about this.
As for this Remus Lupin and Sirius Black… both were also going to proper therapy as well if she had anything to say about it.
"Alright then, while your method of introduction was rather poor I don't see it being purposely malicious. That said however… the two of you are going to have to pay up for this snafu so I'm therefore drafting you both non-negotiably into the Royal Guards for the time being.
"Day or Night, you can sort it out between yourselves who goes where and there will be other things you have to do as well. For now however, luck just so has it that the two of you are just as interested in the protection of our younger brother so that will be what you're gonna be doing for the time being."
Both stallions seemed to nod as Celestia turned her attention towards the doctors, only to pause upon seeing the snowy owl perched upon a stand near the bed. She was quite certain that there hadn't been a stand there a minute ago… never mind the oldest sister had other things to deal with.
Luna herself however ignored the strange phenomenon in part to her ignorance with modern culture and instead focused on Harry. The Lunar Diarch might be wrong but she could feel what appeared to be a dark force clinging to her new brother's body.
"Doctors, anything to report?"
Said doctor's looked up from their examination for a moment before glancing at each other and shrugging. Two of them pretty much retreated at this moment to regard their notes while the third took center stage by responding to the Princess' question.
"For the most part he's surprisingly healthy for his age even if there are a few… inconsistencies thanks to his youth. Nothing major but it does point out that the young lord's previous caretakers were unfitting for the job."
The doctor's tone of voice indicated that he wanted to say something else but held back for reasons. The two mares and stallions traded looks in grim tides as the two males indicated they had no clue.
"On that note we've detected some sort of unknown, and most worrying, black magic hiding rather close to his horn. This will, unfortunately, make casting with it rather hard but if removed should have little to no side effects besides giving him a bit of a power boost via greater control of his magic."
There were some blinks at this as the two older sisters regarded their younger brother with some intense thoughts. Remus however blinked for a moment and looked at Sirius who once again shrugged showing that he had no clue.
A questioning look from the silver eyed pony however made the golden eyed one frown before quietly sighing in defeat. While Padfoot was anything but stupid, he was actually not that far behind James and Lily in intelligence, he was still rather ignorant of some things and needed simpler explanations at times.
"He was one, almost two, before being hit by a spell we call an Unforgivable. Instant jail sentence for casting it without very, very, very good reason and this one in particular is ranked number one.
"It's essentially a one hit kill that there's really no way to block unless you have a heavy and solid object in the way. I assume however it was his mother's doing as she was considered the smartest of her generation and probably had a bit of knowledge leakage from her true self to bolster whatever it was she did with magic from here."
The doctor frowned at this before nodding as he glanced over at counterparts. Who were currently going back and crossing out a few things upon hearing this new bit of information.
"Alright then, it's assumed that this bit of magic is mostly responsible for his bad eyesight. At the same time it's slim but plausible that it's also suppressing a few magical gifts as well.
"We won't know for sure unless we can do a more detailed examination-"
"BLACK Magic!?"
Every group in the room regarded Celestia and Luna as the particularly alarming news seemed to finally hit home. The two males winced at this as they knew that Harry was definitely not going to like the potential mothering that he was going to receive later on.
"Yes, Black magic, as I was saying, however, we would need to do a more detailed examination, HOWEVER, due to the delicate nature of its containment we are reluctant to proceed with anything. This is in part due to an unknown protection that has somehow been practically woven throughout the entirety of his magic.
"I would be very interested in examining this at a later date after the removal of whatever magic it is containing. The effect should, from what we can tell, last at least another three or four centuries before finally starting to fade and would open up a whole new branch of possible magic we have never considered before."
Sirius let out a low whistle at this as many others looked at the young Alicorn in shock at this indication. That said however he glanced at Harry for a moment before looking around the various ponies in the room.
He had noticed since arriving here that the ponies seemed to have some sort of marking on their flanks. Heck, even he and Remus had some with his being a wand and what he assumed was a dueling platform crossing each other, though said platform was made of red and black cloth with what appeared to be blood on said carpet and black sparks coming out of said wand.
Moony however had what appeared to be some sort of book and quill lying on its back at a tilt with the full moon above it.
He could only assume that said emblem, he heard the locals call them Cutie Marks but that sounded too girly for him, was a nod towards his dark family and possibly his ability for dueling. Remus however seemed to be an indication towards his werewolf side and an indication of his studious nature.
From what he overheard said symbol normally appeared at around the same age as a Hogwarts First year and indicated some sort of destiny for the individual that would grant them happiness. There was probably more to it and he would most likely go looking into it later on but for now he had other things to consider.
"Could this whatever be the reason he hasn't earned his mark yet?"
With a swift nod towards the young stallions blank flank the doctor blinked before shrugging. Before he could speak however Luna spoke up.
"While it is indeed possible that thy foul magic could prevent said Cutie Mark from arising in a normal ponies case this is not quite true with Alicorns. True we can earn one but unlike mortals we must perform feats that unlock said potential within us.
"In our case we had to raise the sun and moon respectively and by the time it happened we were well into our adult years at the time. From what few journals I read about our parents they also had to perform feats of great magnitude such as sculpting the ground we walk upon to the turning of the seasons by themselves as well.
"I do believe we even had an uncle who is said to have raised the sun as well but he was also responsible for the moon and his own mark indicated this."
The ponies blinked at this and a few had to stifle their awe upon hearing this unexpected bit of positively ancient history. Both Princesses were incredibly private about their past before Hearth's Warming, let alone their family, so it was a surprise to many.
Celestia for her part nodded as a small frown crossed her muzzle and she cast a worried look back towards the silvery alicorn.
"Indeed, Luna is correct, it could easily be four, if not five, centuries before our brother finds his true calling. That's not to be said however, that he won't pick up other skills along the way.
"When one lives as long as we do they can't help but pick up something extra or twelve along the way. I have my own orchard that I tend to and have taken up wine making in the last 400 years or so to the point that I can potentially rival some of the higher ranked individuals that do such things professionally.
"My sister however used to play the violin before her banishment and tended to make Moonshine out of her moonlight."
At this Sirius and Remus exchanged bewildered looks as they just started to realize how out of depth they were. Simultaneously they also realized that maybe, just maybe, they might have made a mistake by coming to Canterlot so soon, eh too late for them to do anything about it.
Then, just as Sirius was about to open his muzzle to ask for clarification about something a groaning sound distracted him. As one all the ponies in the room turned to regard the silvery Alicorn who made the sound.
Just before he could finally open his eyes however Celestia and Luna seemed to almost teleport to his side. It was painfully obvious that the two sisters were giddy with excitement and were just waiting for the young lad to wake up so they could glomp him in a hug.
How exactly did the two manage to hide their excitement from everypony in the room? No, wait, they were brimming with excitement to begin with and only held back with an iron will born of who knows how many centuries of political experience.
Now if only the two Unicorns weren't intimidated by the mares they would also join in on the surprise glomp. Too bad the Guards behind them would no doubt tackle them if they made an attempt as well.
On the bright side, Harry was in for some rather exciting times in the future. After he recovered from the resulting freak out, amongst other things.
Miota: You know... I'm actually worried about crai22 right now.
Harry: Really now?
Miota: Yeah, this is the fourth chapter he's written for this stories to have an actual title.
Harry: Ah... I have no clue how to respond to this.
Miota: Really?
Harry: Yeah, I read the original premise a few minutes ago about how Dumbledore and Voldemort are still going to try and get me for whatever reason. Can't really say I'm upset to have sisters in this story who have magic to play cosmic pinball going against two bigots.
Miota: Point... by the way, any idea where he is right now?
Harry: No-
crai22: DANMIT WINDBLIGHT, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW EXSPENSIVE ANCIENT ARROWS ARE? YOU COULD AT LEAST HAVE THE DECENCY TO BE HIT BY THEM! I'M NOT EVEN SURE I CAN RETREAVE THAT BLASTED THING LATER ON!
Harry: He's re-playing Breath of the Wild right now apparently.
Miota: That's, um, huh.
Harry: Yeah...
