7:00 a.m
"Hey, Rhodes Island's budget is so bad that it's impossible to build a decent room? I think there should be at least an air-conditioner in here."
"Dobermann just sighed upon hearing Joseph's words.
"Are you really saying that? It's kind of weird that you're the most revealing person in this room."
Not a surprising question. Yes, Joseph's upper body was not wearing a piece of cloth, revealing his toned and attractive muscles.
"Well. The jeans fit fine, but the tank top is, eh... Do you have a problem if I don't wear it?"
"Do you have a problem with a tank top?"
"...No."
Joseph sighed, frustrated, and put his tank top back on. The design of the tank top is actually quite simple. It's just a black tank top with the Rhodes Island logo on the back.
"And to the second question, where are you from?"
She doesn't seem to care much about your complaints, does she?
"Well, I'm from Victoria. Is that so?"
Joseph began to recreate the map he had seen in Chernobog in his mind while he was still on Scout's team.
'Victoria sounds like England on Earth, even though I'm a rightful American citizen.'
"Hmm... You don't look like Aslan at all. And even your accent sounds more Colombian than Victorian."
"Eh, born Victorian, but I grew up in Columbia, I guess?"
"Why do you keep adding 'surely' at the end?" Dobermann asked in doubt.
"Eh, I don't know, ."
Joseph said, whistling as if trying to avoid the question. Maybe it's because he's really not sure about the accuracy of his answer
"Hmm... If you want to keep it a secret, I won't force you. We Rhodes Island accept anyone regardless of background."
"Really?"
"Yeah, this is a pharmaceutical company. Infected or not, Rhodes Island will welcome you with open arms."
Dobermann said, before getting up from the folding chair.
"Thank you, Joestar. I was going to make this interview a little bit longer. But since you're pretty tight-lipped, we'll leave that for later."
Dobermann said before she focused on the paperwork.
"Also, see me at the office again if you have some free time."
"Oh my god, I didn't know you have an interest-"
*SMACK*
"HOLY SHIT!"
Her whip almost hit him in the face, causing him to hastily open the door and leave the interrogation room at an unbelievable speed. She lowered her face.
"This boy, what the hell is wrong with him?"
Dobermann thought to himself, seeing that Joseph had completely left this empty room.
"Now then, where should I go first?"
Suddenly, his stomach started to ache, with the acid in it started to boil.
"Canteen, sure. I sure need some calories now."
Joseph groaned wearily, dragging his body to the canteen in the direction indicated on the signboard. But, there was no seat waiting for him there.
*mumble*
"Ah, damn! I'm getting starved here!"
His lament was immediately saturated with the mumbles of the other Operators. Not noticing the female Operators admiring his muscular physique, and the male Operators who feel inadequate.
"Hello there."
A feminine voice and a hand from an empty table called him out, capturing Joseph's attention.
'Wow... She's one hell of a bombshell.'
Sitting there was a... catgirl or Feline, that's how the people around him called it. She had dark blue hair, along with a friendly expression.
Joseph shook his head to regain his composure, trying to pry his eyes, from the pretty, busty, hot, Feline lady. He fake coughed, before approaching the mysterious lady. Slowly and methodically, he sat down on the opposite side of her, staring at her with such intensity. That is until someone began to approach and set down on Joseph's table a tray of food, with bacon and eggs as the main.
"Not a lot, but it's enough to fill the stomach."
He sighed, then began to dig into his first meal of the day with the bacon and eggs. This is when the problem kicked in when she returned the stare that Joseph tried to give her.
Menacing?
No
Intimidating?
Not either.
It was just a silent stare that last longer than a minute. He ate as she stared. The brunette tried to stick his fork on the meal, only to realize that he had finished it before he even acknowledge it.
"Ow, I lose!"
She suddenly blinked her eyes, making Joseph a bit confused about what happened.
"You what?"
"Eh... Aren't we having a staring contest?"
Joseph was silent, before-
"Your next line is:
"What, cat got your tongue?"
They said simultaneously, making Joseph smirk at Blaze's reaction.
"Ah ha! Twice in a row!"
He said confidently. The bizarre approach between them created a silent atmosphere.
"...So what's your name, rookie?"
*pose*
"Joseph Joestar, but I go with JoJo!"
Meanwhile, the Operators around them just gave questioned looks about how bizarre did they approach each other.
Meanwhile...
"Achoo!"
The blonde girl sneezed, making the tall delinquent take a look back at her.
"Yare Yare Daze... I just feel like someone was talking shits behind my back."
"Yeah, me too."
Back to Joseph.
"So... JoJo, would you have some free time this morning?"
Blaze asked, resting her face on her palm as she looked at Joseph
"What the-? How would I set my schedule when there's literally nothing for me to do?"
Joseph replied, somewhat feeling annoyed by this lady.
"Oh, so you do have free time then? Care to spend time training with me?"
The sweats started to run on his spine when he was remembering that Dobermann has set up an appointment with him in her office, and he prefers not to get whacked by that whip again.
"Eh... I remember that I have something to do first. Later!"
He stood up and ran straight away, not even mind about gazing back at her for once.
Blaze let out a chuckle when she saw the scene, before letting out a sigh.
"You reminded me of my first time coming here... Wish you spend more time here though."
"Left... No, it's right!"
Joseph grunted as he take a turn in the left hallway. He panted a bit, before leaning against the wall opposite Dobermann's office.
"Come in."
Huh... He didn't even knock on the door once, yet she know that he was standing outside. But he didn't care. Because he is a magician as well.
"Coming in!"
He said in a sing-song voice, slowly opening the door.
Turn out, it was not only the instructor that was waiting for him.
"Hi, Joseph."
The Cautus girl waved her hand, gently greeting him with the paperwork tugged at her elbow as she sat down. Joseph was a bit questioned about this, but he returned the greeting nonetheless.
"You might want to have a seat first."
Amiya said.
"Aw, thanks. But I think standing is just fine by me."
Joseph said.
"And my part here is done."
Dobermann placed the pile of papers on the table. It wasn't a document he signed, it was a report on the number of Operators injured in the Chernobog Incident.
"My work here is done. The rest is up to you, Amiya."
She said and left without another word.
"Huh? Then why-?"
*BAM*
Without letting him finish his sentence, Dobermann left the room with the door slammed shut.
"Ah, Mr. Joseph. I was the one who asked her to call you here for me."
Amiya said, before pushing aside the papers on the desk.
"Wow... So you're the leader of this place?"
"Yes."
"So I was right..."
Joseph stopped abruptly. He realized something was a little wrong. Is this 14-year-old girl the head of Rhodes Island? Is this a test?
"But back to the main point."
Amiya said, as if to distract him from the question just now.
"You see. Many Rhodes Island officers were seriously injured in Chernobog. Some are even still trapped in it."
Amiya explained. Normally, Joseph would just shrug at these words, but now he seemed to be trying to concentrate on her words.
"Your wound was the heaviest, but strangely, you recovered very quickly. The wound healed in just a day, due to a burst of yellow Arts energy from your body."
"It's Hamon."
Joseph said, raising his arm which was flashing with the Hamon energy as an example.
"Hamon, if you want to call it that."
Amiya looked at Joseph's arm flickering with golden energy.
"So, what do you want me to do?"
Joseph asked.
"First, I want you to meet this person."
*slip*
However, for some reason, Joseph suddenly slipped and fell on his back to the floor.
"Ow! Damn it, why is the floor so slippery!"
"It's not because it's slippery."
Joseph heard someone else's voice. Amiya and I weren't the only ones in this room, when a bubble that bore a star hovered in front of him.
"Soft & Wet. I stole the friction from the ground."
Hard work and work hard?
Hell, not even I can find it in my dictionary.
