Ch. 5: Tension and A New Romance
written 1/17/22
There was a brief silence between Red and Silver as they walked over to the slingshot aimed for the village. Once they reached the village they headed over to Silver's house.
As she unlocked the door she insisted that Red should come inside and he once again followed her in. "Please, can you come sit on the couch with me?" she requested. "I
need to ask you something." "Alright." said Red as he sat down next to her. "What about?" "Are you okay?" Silver asked as she saw Red start frowning. "Not really, I feel quite
bad actually to be honest." he answered. "Why?" she asked in a concerned tone. "What's wrong?" Red felt bad for multiple reasons. First there was the fact that he and Silver
had fallen for each other because this caused a big amount of tension between Silver, Chuck, and himself. A big argument between Silver and her brother Chuck, who was
also one of his best friends. Second was the threat from Chuck about loving his sister as more than just a friend, which he did and as a consequence their friendship was now
strained. "Well, it's complicated for me emotionally speaking." he replied. Silver looked at him somewhat puzzled. "Well as my logical side would say I can't help you out until
I know all the variables." "Alright, the variables are you, me, and your brother." Red answered. Silver was putting everything together and quickly came to a conclusion.
"You're referring to the relationships we all have with each other." she stated. Red nodded his head. "Well that all depends mainly on the two of us and whether or not you'd
like to categorize our relationship as moved from a platonic relationship to a new romantic relationship." he said. "Well we both love each other, right" she asked. "Of course I
love you Silver." he answered. "I love you as well Red." added Silver. "So I'd say, assuming you want to have me as your girlfriend, and I do think you would be a good
boyfriend, I'd categorize it as a new romantic relationship." "I certainly do want to have you as my girlfriend!" he exclaimed. "Then we've rightly categorized it." declared
Silver excitedly. Suddenly, Silver leaned over to Red and kissed him on the beak. Red was taken somewhat by surprise but immediately returned the romantic gesture.
"Hopefully that makes your emotional complication better." she said. "Well yes and no." replied Red. "Why yes?" asked Silver. "Well because I'm now in an official romantic
relationship with the prettiest and brightest bird on Bird Island." stated Red happily. "Why does it not make it better?" Silver inquired. "Well because of the impact our
relationship will have regarding your brother." replied Red. "What do you mean by that?" she asked. "Well now he wants to hurt me for being with you as more than just a
friend and as a result you had to physically stop him from doing so in front of everyone." Red answered with a hint of fear in his voice. "Yeah, my sincerest apologizes for
that." she said as she recalled what had transpired between herself and her brother. "I just reacted upon the instinct of my love and protection for you." "Totally
understandable." said Red. "I would do the same for you."
Meanwhile, Chuck had just touched down to the village and headed straight for his house. He was halfway home when suddenly he had come to the realization that he wanted
both his friends and family to be happy. "I have to apologize to Red and Silver." he thought to himself and with that he turned around and headed over to his sister's house.
"Look, Red I promise we'll get this all sorted out." said Silver. "We just need all the variables in the right place." Suddenly they heard a knock on the door. "Who is it?"
inquired Silver. "It's your brother, can we talk?" Chuck asked. "That depends on if you can be civil with the information I'm about to give you." said Silver. "Okay tell me the
information." he replied. "Red is here with me very conflicted with what happened between all of us so I've been helping him with that and he's been doing the same for me."
she stated. Chuck was feeling slightly uneasy. "Oh, one last thing the two of us have decided to have a romantic relationship with each other." she declared. Chuck very
uneasy, but took a few deep breaths to calm himself down. "So with all that knowledge can you still be civil." Silver asked. Chuck thought for a minute and finally spoke.
"Okay, I promise." "Alright, then come on in brother." she replied. Chuck entered his sister's house and looked to the couch to see her leaning on Red shoulder. "Have a seat
with us and please sit next me." said Silver gesturing to other side of her away from Red. Chuck sat down and took a deep breath. "Alright, what do you want to talk about?"
his sister asked. "Well, I came here to apologize for how I acted at the restaurant." he replied. "It was uncalled for and I'm sorry." "Most especially to you." he said directing
his attention to Red. "I was wrong to threaten and attempt to hurt you since you're my friend because friends shouldn't do that to each other." "I agree and accept your
apology." Red replied. Then he turned his attention back to Silver. "You are my sister and as your brother I admit that I can be a little overprotective at times, but I've come
to the realization that it shouldn't be at the expense of your happiness." he stated. "Thank you Chuck." replied Silver. "As far as this new relationship between you and Red
go, I don't care as long as you don't get hurt in any way and you keep each other happy." Chuck declared. "Of course." answered Red and Silver in unison.. "I'll admit this
relationship will take some getting used to on my end so could you guys do me a favor?" he asked. Red and Silver looked at each other and then back at Chuck. "Possibly."
they answered. "What is it?" "Please try to keep the romantic displays of affection at a minimum when we're together." requested Chuck. "Out of respect for you we will do
our best to fulfill that request." said Red. "Thank you." replied Chuck. "I really appreciate it." "We can't make any promises though." Silver added winking at Red who blushed.
"I understand that." said Chuck. "Anyways that's all I wanted to say." With that Chuck got up and as he was taking his leave he looked back at Red. "So Red can we friends
again?" he inquired. "Absolutely." Red replied as he got up to shake his wing. "Well, have a goodnight." said Chuck as he left and shut the door behind him. "I'll see you guys
later." Once he was gone Silver looked at Red with smile. "What is it babe?" Red asked. "Nothing, except I told you once all the variables were in the right place things would
work out." Silver answered. "I knew you'd be right one way or another because you're the smartest and most beautiful bird on Bird Island." Red declared. "Red you're so
sweet." said Silver with a seductive smile. Before Red knew it, Silver pulled him in for a make out session. Once they parted, they looked into each other's eyes. "I love you
Red." said Silver. Red blushed. "I love you too, Silver." "Unfortunately though I'm very tired." he said with a yawn. "I guess I should go home and get to bed." "I understand."
replied Silver with a yawn from herself. "I think I should turn in as well, but let me walk you out." "Alright." said Red. The two of them got off the couch and walked to the
front door. Silver opened the door to let Red out and as he was making his way out she tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around to face her. "Yes love." he said. Silver
kissed him on the cheek and whispered. "I'll see you in dreamland." "Right back at you." he replied giving her a kiss back. As she shut the door she made her way to her
bedroom and fell asleep with a heartfelt smile on her face. Once Red got home, he went upstairs to his room, and fell asleep in the exact same way.
Sorry for the delays. Been having some writer's block.
