They were constantly moving, the air blowing through his hair, regardless of how the rest of the landscape looked. Through trees, sand, and even snow, his fingers intertwined with hers as he tugged her along.
"Don't you ever rest?" she asked, frowning as the ground shifted again, the man in front of her pausing to look over his shoulder. Amber eyes glinted, familiar in a way she still didn't understand, and she tried to pull him in the opposite direction, but he was unrelenting, hand tightening around hers.
"We cannot stay here."
Kagome looked around, but as usual, their surroundings were limited—like a fog they couldn't get through. "Why not?"
"It is not safe."
She looked up at him, bringing them to a complete stop before turning him around and grabbing both hands. "I'm safe with you." The truth lingered between them, shining out through her smile, and she thought she saw his shoulders sag before his arms went around her.
His lips brushed against her temple, never moving any lower, and she gave him a reassuring squeeze. The wind picked up, and when she opened her eyes, they stood in the middle of a vast garden, the vibrancy of the colours again making her head spin.
"You like it here," she mused; this was not the first time she'd witnessed such an array of colour and fragrance. He didn't answer, but she felt the tension seep out of him. "I like it here too."
