"Well Serena, I am heading home." Molly popping her head through Serena's door.

"Did you get that reservation you wanted?" Serena asked cheerfully.

"Naaawww, we decided it is going to be too crazy and we don't want the craziness affect how we enjoy the food." Molly started.

"Hmmmm I wonder who put that idea in your head..." Serena interrupted putting her index finger on her chin, looked up at the ceiling with a cunning smile.

"Soooo we are just going to cook at home together. We found an easy recipe that even we can't mess up." Molly continued.

"That sounds so sweet, did you pick a good wine?" Serena asked.

"I am going to grab one now, pray for me."Molly took a step back.

"Have a good night! Send pictures!" Serena gave her a little wave.

Molly nodded, turned around. "Go home Serena! I am sure he would love to see you!"

Serena just shook her head. Continued her last email. Did a big stretch. Looked at the clock, and decided to go. She packed her things. Gave the cleaning crew a nod and walked out of her office.

"Happy Valentine's Day ma'am one of the cleaners bowed."

"Have a good night." She smiled and headed out the door.

She deeply exhaled. It was finally hitting her. She was going to be spending Valentine's Day alone again. Every other year it didn't matter, but this year, the walk to her car, the idea of calling that single pizza, just sounded empty. She loved watching her movies. But she could she really get lost in them, like she normally did. She could right? Just needed to get where she needed to be on the couch, in her pink jammies, with pizza, a bottle of wine and chocolate for later. She repeated that in her head to get her to car.

She pushed the button to turn it on, and her heart a dropped. A piece of paper on her windshield. It couldn't be a ticket. She didn't park in a handicap spot again. But it is not impossible. The idea of it being a note excited her, but she was too scared to be disappointed. She finally ripped it off the windshield, and opened it.

It was simple. "Happy Valentine's Day. Please enjoy that pizza, maybe think of me- Darien" To the note was a gift card to the pizza place.

"How did he do all this if he was working..." She whispered to herself. Maybe he was somewhere near by. She looked around. No cars that looked like his. And she simply nodded. Opened her car door and got in. To Mina's house she goes, she thought. But the idea of Malachite being there with her made her feel guilty she could possibly be ruining their night. Not that they would say anything. But, maybe she would just eat her pizza in her car and watch the movies on her phone, until it got late enough. "That sounds ridiculous." She said to herself. She looked at her clock. "If I don't order my pizza soon, I am going to be waiting until tomorrow to eat."

She finally started driving, called the pizza company, and when they finally asked her delivery address...her heart only could think of one place to deliver too.

Hours a later a defeated Darien, came out of the elevator to his apartment. His back was killing him. He waited for her to pull up to Mina's house for what felt like forever, and she never came. Mina and Malachite pulled up, after their early dinner, and he left because he wasn't going to ruin their night. But he couldn't help but wonder, where was she? He thought he would have at least got a thank you text from her, and from there, he would be able to ask her to come home. He kept thinking about the possibility of her being with someone else tonight. But them he would convince himself she would never. As much as she loved this holiday, she hated being out on this holiday. Which again would make him angry. He couldn't even take the day off to be home with her. She didn't ask him too, but she should have had too. This is the day of love. He should have known.

He dreaded the walk to his apartment more and more. She still had a few small things at this place. And it just broke him knowing today could be the day where she finally took them, and left her key.

He groaned as he turned the door nob. It was starting to be an everyday thing. He wondered if the neighbors heard him do it every night. He shrugged. Swung the door open, and through the dark room, the light the TV glared. He never thought he would be so happy to see the Lifetime Symbol across his TV. He walked in closer to the couch, he didn't see her sitting up. He looked to the bathroom for a light. No light and the door was opened. He took another step towards the coach, peaked over. The table set. A glass of wine, half full. An open pizza box, missing three, maybe four pieces from the heart. A box of chocolate untouched. And her, curled on the cough, sleeping. In his shirt. No blanket.

He came around, squatted beside her. Moved her hair out of her face. Her eyes shot open to his touch. And she gasped. Wiped the drool from her chin.

He chuckled.

"What time is it?" She looked around.

"Maybe 8." He shrugged.

"I missed the movie?" She whined, pulled her head up and looked over his shoulder. "I didn't realize I was so tired." She rubbbed her eyes. "I never fall asleep this early." She knew why she did. The movie just wasn't interesting to her anymore.

"We can start it over..." Darien suggested. "Unless you want to go home..."

"I am sure you're tired, you just worked a whole shift," Serena pushed herself into a sitting position. "And I know you're not a fan of the movie."

"I just want to be with you." He finally blurted. "It's Valentine's Day. I should have been off. This day means so much to you, and I tried to be. I waited at Mina's house. If I would have just checked here." More disappointment could be heard in his tone of voice. He shook his head. "I ruined your day."

"No.. it's fine." She looked at all the food on the table. "I guess I just wasn't feeling it today. Thank you for the gift card for the pizza."

He looked over his shoulder at the barely touched pizza. You could tell the cheese was cold and dried. The toppings looked old. "I am guessing it wasn't what you wanted."

"Ehhh. Just not mooding it." She went to slip a pair of slippers on. They weren't her slippers. She took those to Mina's. They weren't his either. Just the regular ones for his guest. They were barely worn, and far from broken in. She pushed herself off the cough. "I should start cleaning before it gets too late."

He quickly spun arounds, sat out the couch and grabbed her hand. "What if we go grab something to eat. Try something new?"

She let what he had just asked her sink in for a couple seconds. "Darien, you know I hate eating out on Valentine's Day."

She could see the sadness in his eyes from her rejection. "All the places are so crowded, and by the time we eat it'll be so late. But I do appreciate you trying." She pulled her hand out of his grip.

"The main chair places will be crowded, I know that. And any fine dining spot. But what about a hole in the wall. I found a new place, that I want to take you." He stood up, gazed down at her. She was thinking about it. "It won't be crazy, and if it is, we will order to go and eat here, come on." He pressed his lips against the top of head, wrapped his arms around her, and her heart melted.

Chills ran up and down her spine, just like they would when she would watch her movies. She just nodded yes. "I just need to get dressed." She exhaled.

"I will take a quick shower, and I will be waiting for you." He released him from her hold, and headed towards the bathroom.

She put her hand over her chest, and collected herself. Made sure the door to the bathroom was closed. And headed to the room they once shared. She was sure she still had some clothes hanging in the closet..

About 20 minutes later, Darien had never gotten ready so fast in his last. He barely let his feet dry before he put socks on, and his hair was still damp. But he wanted to make sure she did not leave him. Not that he thought she could ever be that mean, but the thought was there and he wanted to make sure she did not have time too.

He waited outside in the living room for her. He threw some things away, put her chocolate away, because he hoped more than anything she would come back home and finish them.

She came down the hallway pulling and tugglng at her shirt.

"You look amazing..." He smiled.

She looked up at him. "I just threw on whatever I had left here. I thought I had left these hung up, but it is all wrinkled."

"You look amazing." He repeated.

"Thank you," Serena said grabbing her bag. "Ready to go?"

He nodded. Headed towards the door to open it for her. She nodded, walked out first and he followed. She walked in front of him. Her stomach twisted and turned, and her heart rate increased. She was actually nervous.

When the got in the elevator, Darien pushed the button to the garage, stood side by side, next to her, gently the hand closest to her down her arm and laced his fingers between hers. She looked up at him.

"I am sorry, I was not the guy you wanted." He whispered.

"Darien..."

"Look I know, you would never push me to be someone I am not, but that does not mean I should have never made an effort. It is like that saying, 'when someone tells you to listen to a song,' it is a message. You watching those movies were my hints."

"Darien...that was never my intent with those movies, I just loved watching them." Serena explained as the elevator continued to move.

"Because you love that type of love, and I think what upset me, is the idea that one day I could wake up and you realized I never did any of that, and some dude will just come in, taking everything."

Trying to make sure she understood everything he had just said.

"You know in this life you are everything to me right. I don't have family. I have very few friends."

He turned her to face him as he looked down at her. And then the elevator door opened. "Looks like it is our stop." He smiled. Walking out guiding her behind him. They stopped at two door reds sport car. He unlocked it, and opened the door.

"Seems kinda of fitting, if you ask me."

She got in. He closed the door and went around the car to get in his side.

He buckled himself up, turned on the car, slowly back up, and once he put the car in drive. He reached his have over the center, and grabbed her hand. He can't remember the last time it was him that grabbed her, other than the time just now in the elevator, but he reminded himself to do it more, if she let him.

"How far is this place?" Serena asked looking around. There were cars everywhere, even thought it was getting late.

"About 15 minutes, it's a little outside of city lines."

"They will still be opened?" Serena looked over to him, with her big blue eyes.

He waited until he stopped at a light, and looked over at her. "It will still be open."

"Good, because I am kinda hungry," Serena blurted out as she leaned back, rubbing her stomach.

Darien, smiled to see she was getting comfortable, and at the fact he missed her constantly complaining about needing food.

"I will get us there soon, promise."
