Chapter Four

A young girl slowly opened her eyes. Her mind was clouded and fuzzy. She slowly sat up and rubbed her head.

"Good night, dear sister. You have woken up in a great time. I am Thimble and this is Tumbleweed. We are so happy you are awake." Thimbleweed said.

"Who am I?" She asked

"No questions now. Change quickly for we must away to see the fairy queen." Tumbleweed said.

The girl glanced at the clothes before her. It was beautiful and pretty. A deep green skirt that ended midway below her calf. The shirt was light blue with sparkling lights. The back was open, she did not know why. She quickly changed into the garment. However, when she started to put on the shirt she ran into a problem.

A pair of light silver fairy wings were attached to her back.

The girl gasped.

Tumbleweed slipped in and smiled. She wrapped a hand around Maya's shoulders. "Do not fret sister. The queen awaits. We have missed much this night."

Tumbleweed helped the young fairy get the blouse on and the two stepped out to meet Thimble who took the fairy's hand. "Haste, haste we must away. To the fairy queen who awaits us this night"

Tumbleweed grabbed the other hand, and the two Fairies helped their new fairy sister fly using her new wings.

The three flew quickly and landed on the ground leading to the fairy court. Sitting in the grove on two wooden thrones sat the fairy king and queen.

Fairies from both courts danced under the new moon waiting for the hour when they could bless the lovers' beds. Queen Tatiana held her hand out stopping the dancing.

"Come my two fairies and show the courts your new sister"

Thimble and Tumbleweed lead her to the fairy queen.

King Oberon watched and observed his wife's new fairy.

She was beautiful and would be a good addition to his queen's court. He had stolen the changeling child from her, so it was fair she gained a new follower. King Oberon smiled even bigger as he watched his servant, Puck, stare at the new fairy with wonderment. He had never seen this look on Puck's face. It would be interesting to see how the trickster would win this fairy's heart.

Queen Tatiana rose and stepped up to her new fairy.

"My new fairy…your transformation was wonderful…a fairy you were born to be. Welcome your sister, my fairies. Welcome to my court…Moonbeam." Queen Tatiana called.

The fairies moved forward and welcomed the new fairy.

Puck walked forward and touched the golden fairy's hair.

King Oberon rose and raised his hands palms up facing the fairy courts.

"Dance fairies. Dance as the fairy hour approaches."

Puck reached out and took Moonbeams hand. "Come new fairy. Trust your Puck. He will show you merriment on your first night."

Puck pulled Moonbeam with him in a new dance as King Oberon and Queen Tatiana joined the other fairies to dance under the new moon. Three couples had wed this day and it was up to them to bless the bed.

Later that night, Moonbeam stared at the female mortal sleeping in the arms of her husband. The girl looked familiar, but she could not remember who this woman was. Moonbeam floated over to the desk where a note was. It was congratulating the couple. Hermia and Lysander were the names of the humans.

'Hermia? Why does that name sound familiar.' Moonbeam thought.

Puck appeared beside the fairy. "Away we must fly, beautiful one. These mortals are fun for sport, but they must not see."

Puck held out his hand and, with one last glance at the note, Moonbeam took his hand. The two sprites disappeared from the chamber to the fairy courts ball to finish out the celebration for the marriage of the followers of the fairy queen and king.

The next day

A search was done for a missing child. The search party found two circles of candles. One had flowers inside scattered around it. The other held a bag that was said to belong to the child. The child was never found but rumors flew about what happened to the child. Some said she was kidnapped. Others that she died in the woods and her body has not been found. Some of the common folk say the child was taken by fairies and would never be seen again.

Only one person would know the truth. She would later weave the story of the sad little girl who wanted to see the world and pleaded for help from the fairies to future charges of her new mistress, Lady Hermia. She would causations the children of the consequence of the girl's request were to lose her mortal life and never see her loved ones again. Mortals could never trust fairies as mortals were only for fairies' fun.
