It was Roxas's first mission, and he was heading through the tunnels in Twilight Town with a tall redheaded Nobody named Axel. He had recalled Axel from earlier that week and trusted him more than the others as Axel was the first to interact with him in a friendly manner. As they headed through the tunnels to find the chest as Roxas was assigned, music went through Roxas's head.

Whatever you do, I'll do it too

It all means something
And yet nothing to me

Roxas sat on the clock tower, asking Axel questions about anything that came into his mind as the music continued playing for him.

I can see there's so much to learn
It's all so close, and yet so far
I see myself as people see me

Deep within Roxas's mind was a memory that briefly came to the surface of a different sunset on an island by a tree with star-shaped fruit, but it vanished as soon as it came.
Oh, I just know there's something bigger out there

Roxas woke up from another dream about a boy with spiky brown hair. The song he had heard in his head continued in his desperation to understand why he kept dreaming about the boy.

When Xion first took her hood off, everything seemed different. Roxas found himself having trouble looking away as they ate their ice cream.
Every gesture, every move that she makes

Memories of Sora flickered through Roxas' mind.
"Ooh, these emotions I never knew
Of some other World far beyond this place
Beyond the trees, above the clouds
I see before me a new horizon"

As Roxas left The Castle That Never Was for the last time, Axel stood at the exit. "Your mind's made up?"

Roxas gave Axel one last chance to tell him what was going on. "I have to know

When Roxas left the Organization, he went to the Clock Tower. Xion came and sat beside him, handing him ice cream. Roxas thanked Xion and ate ice cream with her before pleading with her one last time for things to go back to the way things were.
"Come with me now back to our World
Where there's so much more we can be
Can you feel the things I feel
Right now, with you"

"Roxas, I'm out of time," Xion began.

Xion was dying in Roxas's arms. She touched his face while she said her final words. When her hand fell limp, Roxas caught it and continued singing.
"Take my hand
Don't just leave me all alone"

Several days after Roxas's memory was altered and he was placed into the Digital Twilight Town, he and Namine sat in a white room inside the mansion as Roxas asked Namine questions.

"I wanna know
Can you show me?

Something's familiar about this stranger like me"

Roxas watched as a white sleeping pod opened up to reveal his other half.

"I wanna know," Roxas uttered right before vanishing.
