Auggie's POV

It's Ava's 14th birthday today, September 17th. We're having a party at Topanga's for her. Our moms set it up.

When she showed up, we all shouted 'Surprise!'. She smiled. She thanked all of us.

Maya walked over to her and hugged her.

"Happy birthday, Ava," she told her.

"Thanks, Maya," she said.

Riley walked over with my one-month-old nephew, Farkle Jedidiah.

"Happy birthday, someday sister-in-law," she told my girlfriend.

Ava laughed a little.

"Thanks," she said.

We ate pizza and the time came for presents.

"So, for the first present," mom said, "someone has a little performance for you."

I turned my chair to where I was sitting across from her, by a few feet. Farkle sat next to me with his guitar.

"Ready?" He asked me.

"Yeah," I answered. I looked at Ava. "I love you, Ava."

He started playing guitar, then I started singing.

I found a love for me/ Darling, just dive right in and follow my lead/ Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet/

Mom's standing behind Ava. She looked at her with a smile.

Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me/

'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love/ / Not knowing what it was/

I remembered when we first got together when we were 5 and 6.

I will not give you up this time/

She looked at me and her hands slightly moved up from her lap to rest on her abdomen. We both were remembering when she broke up with me almost two years ago.

But darling, just kiss me slow/ Your heart is all I own/ And in your eyes you're holding mine
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark/ With you between my arms/ Barefoot on the grass/ Listening to our favorite song/

I remembered our date from last month, when we danced to "Love Someone" by Lukas Graham.

When you said you looked a mess/ I whispered underneath my breath/ But you heard it/ "Darling, you look perfect tonight"
Well, I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know/ She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I'll share her ho-o-ome/

She smiled at me. I've told her many times that I want to marry her someday.

I found a love to carry more than just my secrets/ To carry love, to carry children of our own

She gave the most loving smile, with tears forming in my eyes. Farkle started singing backup for me.

We are still kids but we're so in love/ Fighting against all odds/ I know we'll be alright this time/ Darling, just hold my hand/ Be my girl, I'll be your man/ I see my future in your eyes
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark/ With you between my arms/ Barefoot on the grass/ Listening to our favorite song/ When I saw you in that dress/ Looking so beautiful/ I don't deserve this/ Darling, you look perfect tonight

Farkle played the little guitar part.

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark/ With you between my arms/ Barefoot on the grass/ Listening to our favorite song/ I have faith in what I see/ Now I know I have met an angel in person/ And she looks perfect/ I don't deserve this/ You look perfect tonight

She immediately stood up and kissed me.

"I love you, Auggie Matthews," She told me.

"I love you, too," I told her. I grabbed a box and handed it to her. "Here's part two."

She opened the box. It had the promise ring I bought for her.

"Auggie…" she said with awe.

I took her hand.

"I promise that I'm going to make you Mrs. Ava Melanie Ruth Esther Matthews someday," I told her. "Until then, these rings," I held up my right hand to reveal mine, "hold that promise." I looked her in the eyes. "I'm in love with you…I'll always be."

She kissed me again, then let me put the ring on her finger.

I looked around and everyone was staring at us.

KC had the biggest smile on her face. I remembered that she was Ava's age when she first got married. Both Ava and I smiled. She opened her other presents, then blew out her candles, and we ate cake.

After the party, we went out to a movie together.
